That was some quick thinking. Great story. My wife and I also got to meet them when they opened for Buddy Guy at a club called Bogarts in Cincinnati in May of 1993, the same month their first album was released. After the show, my wife wanted to see if we could get backstage. We got so far and then were stopped by security. Then I heard her say we were from the same town in Alabama as the band. I thought, "Oh no!". The guy says, "Just a second" and goes into the room with the band. He comes back out and says, "Ok". We walk in and the after-party was winding down. Hardly any food left and empty cups and bottles lying around. Damon comes over to me and says, "I hear you guys are from Alabama". I just rolled my eyes, shook my head, and nodded toward my wife (who I married later that year). He laughed and told me about the album that was just coming out. We had a great time talking to those guys. Everyone was in a good mood and very friendly. They impressed me as ambitious, professional, and very serious about their music and careers. They were all sober and clear-headed. Great experience. My wife and I have talked about it often over the years. I was glad to see they have a 30-year reunion tour planned for 2023.
the dude on right playing guitar is Dave Anderson. He lives and plays in Huntsville Alabama for a living at clubs small venues, with no ego, just another everyday guy making a living,,
This song was massive for me as a 15 year old, When Cobain died i thought id never hear cool songs again. Heard this song and i was so glad i was wrong. Brother Cane always sound amazing Live!
i was young, and dumb when this came out, stealing cigs and a skipping school, middle school days... i looked for years trying to find this song again... good job guys, good memeories man... really good ones, thanks
Such an awesome song and band, so much of their music was good, even if they only made 3 albums. Glad to see this, and I believe the song is called "And Fools Shine On" but either way you're so lucky to have this experience.
Thanks so much for adding this AWESOME Brother Cane video!!! And for letting me know. I loved this band so much...I wish they were still together. I've been following Damon's career since then and love the stuff he's doing with Whiskey Falls. He's such a talented musician, very underated I think! So thanks again! PEACE!!!! I will be posting some video soon of Damon with Slave to the System! Rock on brother!
Thanks man. I look forward to hearing your version of "Voice of Eugena". Let me know when you have it up. I may try that song in my studio one day too. I should have my Bro Cane version up in a few weeks. Thanks for watching, Boomer
I'll bet that was a cool 2 weeks! Ya he is a cool guy for sure and a great musician/singer. Thanks for sharing the story and watching my vids. I'm not really a country fan but wow Whiskey Falls are great!
Damon rocks for sure. Did you know he was playing with Alice Cooper on tour for a bit as well? I have yet to hear any Slave to the System. I'm gonna go and check that out. Thanks. Boomer
