They’re male bc male audiences won’t watch a movie with all female characters. Has nothing to do with her as a character. Fortunately you're right. In tangled, they were supposed to name the movie Rapunzel, but decided to name it tangled because it's not just about Rapunzel, it's also about Flynn Rider. And they wanted both genders to adore the film because sleeping beauty and other princess movies didn't catch young boy's attentions.
Demonstratably wrong, you need the movies to be written well. If you say the Marvels, more men went and saw it over women so men do go see movies with all women. If you want them en masse, it has to be good.
Totally agree but with how audiences reacted I think it would be a great way for Pixar to include trans people in their movies and claim it was the plan from the start
I really don't see anything pointing in that direction at all. I think her emotions were depicted as both male and female for two reasons. Marketing (having some male characters helps to draw in more male audience members) and just general diversity. I think the decision to make both her parents have all emotions of one gender was more about showing a contrast of how well organized and uniform her parents minds were versus hers which is kind of all over the place. I don't think any of us need to be think this deeply about it. I'm all for lgbt+ representation, but we shouldn't just shoehorn it in for the sake of it. We should strive for representation, not pandering.
Possibly some of her emotions are male because she’s been taught anger and fear are masculine feelings? A bit of a stretch but also possible. I highly doubt if it is intended that she’s genderfluid it’ll be confirmed. You forget all those characters could be minimized or cut for foreign audiences. They won’t lgbtq+ a main character because China won’t show the film if they do.
I don't think that's the case. In the flashbacks, fear and anger were created male, while Riley was too young to have any concept of gender stereotypes. Although if it were true, fear is often seen as weak or feminine, not masculine at all.
I assumed it’s because Riley learned about Anger and fear from her Dad and Joy and Saddness from her Mom and that’s why they are different gender emotions and it actually makes since because Rikey’s Mom’s primary emotion is Sadness and her Dad’s primary emotion is Anger .
So what I’m hearing is that the trailer didn’t “confirm” anything :/ you even said in the video that you have no idea and that only Pixar can confirm it.
I figured this would be abouy Riley being adopted… (When her parents meet her, they appear to be standing up. Mom definitely doesn’t look like she just gave birth…)
Honestly, if they depict her as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, does it really matter? I would support it. She's a person, let her be whoever she wants or needs to be. Whether Riley turns out to be genderfluid, non-binary or anything else, who really cares? Also, you didn't mention that in the live action beauty and the beast, Lefou has a crush on Gaston.
Aw man I thought you were talking about the theory of her being adopted but then again I wouldn’t be surprised if they delve into that theory too I just can’t wait to see this sequel
There's more evidents you could add to this theory such as Riley like more traditionally boy boy things, like hockey and dressing like a tomboy even though some of Riley's emotions wear dresses. Just so y'all know science does say interest can be clues to someone gender and sexuality BUT that's not always the case so please don't use interest to determine what a person gender and sexuality is.
Oh man.. xD I think giving her emotions different genders is simply making the dynamics of their interactions and conversations with eachother way more interesting and natural. Let's face it, barely anyone would wanna watch a movie with 90% female only interaction. Besides, Anger and Fear being male is just more intense/funny. Angry woman? Ok.. Not nice. Angry guy? Potentially more scary. Fearful woman? Well yeah, we've seen that a lot. Fearful guy? Always kinda funny somehow, at least in movies x)
Also when it comes to young girls wearing rainbow, it doesn't always mean lgbtq 🙄 girls and not to mention straight girls also wore rainbow growing up. Even i wore rainbow til i realized what it meant now and how that community ruined countless little girl's childhoods by using the cute thing girls were known for as their flag. So it was normal for Reilly to wear the rainbow she wore like once or twice in the film lol. But the nonbinary thing in a kids film is nonsense since she's still a preteen going onto being a teen. I'm also not against that community just tired of it all being shoved into our children's eyes and make others that don't agree accept it in a film. Disney has really destroyed the true magic that Walt Disney himself worked so hard for. I'm disappointed especially in pixar and Disney for agreeing to this if that false theory is true. And also they gave her emotions some male characters for comedy and for the ideals that it will alsso capture young boys and girls to love it. If her emotions were just girls that looked like her, my little brother at the time would have just wanted to watch another movie in the theater that day we watched it with our aunt. Another example of this is in the movie tangled, it was supposed to be named Rapunzel, but they changed it because it's not just about the princess but also about Flynn Rider in the storyline. So it was gladly named that to help everyone enjoy the movie for little boys and girls.
When it comes to what Riley is wearing, I don't think it has anything to do with the emotions. Like in reality we all change our clothes. They aren't going to show a girl changing her clothes since the movie is really about the emotions inside Riley's head.
one thing i noticed with Riley is that her emotions are very... Generic... when compared to others. and they don't really embody much about Riley in their appearances. instead being neutral and not having any physical resemblance to Her. My head canon for this is because the way Riley's emotions are, up until the 1st movie, they were very much about their own devices so much to the point that they often didnt work together very well. and thus they never really had the chance to grow into themselves, with the ending of inside out 1 beginning their process into bridging that gap. And the new 4 emotions seem to follow those trades too. though, aside from Embarressment and Anxiety, who i cant tell/is somewhat neutral. ennui and envy being both feminine. and im sure as the 2nd movie plays out, the two groups will learn to work together more and will start the process of growing into their final roles. on another note... Her emotions all address Riley as "She" since they're the closest thing to her internal monologue, that states pretty clearly that Riley identifies as female. infact, there hasn't been any evidence to support that she's began questioning her gender or sexuality either... she's 13 after all... she's not even in high school yet (another year before then) so i dont think figuring all that out is on her mind. Now, that's not to say she wont begin questioning it during the 2nd movie. as a lot could happen here. But as it stands. I do not believe Riley is None-Binary/Genderfluid
I think the reason they're masculine emotions still is just because they haven't synchronised yet. They will slowly become more feminised and all the emotions will also adapt to her looks.
Honestly, people are so obsessed with wanting all these characters to be part of the lgbtq community that they don’t realize that the writers literally said that it was a story choice Plus, I feel it would ruin the character
Pretty sure the creator said that he wanted to make the emotions boys and girls because he just thought that the emotions needed to be certain genders. But im not exactly sure he said this tho
no, she is not gender fluent at all because all the evidence is actually against that from the first inside-out movie, and I think that she is a tomboy kind of person.
No she doesn't, she was clearly appalled by the idea of her and Jordan going on a date, the evidence that proves it and confirms it is in the in-universe short film, she ONLY sees him as a friend and nothing more! She could be Aroace and only has a platonic attraction to Jordan.
In the movie frozen the family in the sauna, there’s a woman in the sauna with the man that’s her husband or boyfriend whatever people are reaching with that one😂
My opinion is that emotions are ether you find out what they are yourself or you observe other emitions so i think Rily obsers other around her and bases them off of them instead of figuring out for herself
It makes sense but the characters do refer to Riley as she/her even when joy does a Voice over she refers to riley as a girl but maybe in the sequel we might get a clue
If Riley is gay I gonna loose faith in everything. To be honest I just took her having 2 masculine emotions as her being somewhat of a tomboy
I took it as Riley having boy and girl emotions so parents an could think of Riley as there son or daughter for the fact Riley is a boy and girl name
What about her rainbow-striped shirt? What does that imply?
@@gregzotter6189It's a shirt
@@HannaDoesEdits Thats also what I thought too
Oooorrrr.... Riley is still learning who she is as she grows up, so emotions "identities" are more fluid than established adults
Riley's emotions look different to market them more. Disney wasn't thinking more than money please.
