I was a K-8 music teacher in several provinces in this great country Canada and I tried to instill in my students that "Good, Bad or Ugly the words and deeds you do each day WILL affect someone in ways you may never know; so please choose the good and do good. Be the good because you may be the only good that person experiences that day. That is your power so use it wisely and with care!"
Terrible about the butt hole video with person deficating “funnyjoke” told by Jodi. I will never watch this podcast again. Something is very wrong here!
I’m appalled that 49 people clicked Don’t Like!! WTF!! Why? It amazes me that people are so critical others. Must be nice to live your perfect world! ARGH! these ladies rock, they have the platform to be able to express what MOST of us feel and think. I love watching whenever I can, I always laugh and Tracie, I cried with you!! Thank you for being CANADIAN and showing our true colours, no prejudice here. Love, love, love you guys! ❤️
Traci - I'm so with you on this one. My heart hurts. I can't imagine. I just keep looking at my 6'0" tall son with the linebacker build and a natural 'fro, and I KNOW that if he was several shades darker he would be at risk every time he left the house. There are so many parents who have to TRAIN their children to navigate systemic racism and de-escalate law enforcement so they don't DIE. This makes me RAGE. There are enough dangers present that our children must face without the GOVERNMENT being part of the problem. I'm so, so heartbroken and angry. I needed to see your shared grief and I also needed the simple joy to be found in shared creating. I would also like to see our hard-working, dedicated law enforcement personnel free of the sociopathic cancer embedded in their organizations. One of my high school friends died in the line of duty, he truly lived "Protect and Serve". There are so many more of these officers, than these murderous monsters and their accomplices. The every day heroes should NOT have to work AROUND these monsters. ARRRG.
Brionne Boggioni Being a white person with one white child and two mixed oriental children that have never had issues except with this pandemic the two angloasian boys are experiencing racism because of covid. This world needs to change we all bleed red. Black people should not have to deal with the fear of being innocently targeted.
Thank you so much for talking about The sad times in America. You are correct we are equal and we all matter. Always love your podcasts - thanks for the fun and laughs you bring us
Connecting with you makes even the shittiest week better. Thank you for reminding us that we can (all) feel our feelings, share them, and turn our feelings into action to try to help make this world better for EVERYONE.
Yes! Thank you for your thoughtful words. Growing up in Detroit in the late 60’s, all of my friends were of every color. It wasn’t until the 68 riot that forced my parents to move us out of Detroit. Makes my heart heavy to think that we’ve hardly come forward in 50 years! How many more lives will it take to change us. All lives matter regardless of color of skin. Keep up the conversation ladies! The change happens one person at a time. If not us, then who? Thank you for keeping this in the forefront.
Just borrowed one of Stephanie’s books.. She is so much fun to listen to, or read... She makes you laugh and cry...all at the same time.. I love her. Can’t wait to see her channel. Oh my goodness.. I love those little bags.. the size is perfect, and the knitting Stitches one is my fav fabric. .
Traci! I just watch this episode and you had me crying. Knowing this is touching so many people fills my heart. Thank you for doing all that you and Jodi do. Thank you for talking about the tough subjects. I wish I could give you both a big hug. Sending a lot of love from Wisconsin
OMG! I wore my first Beautifully Basic Tee to work today and I am knitting my second as I watch this episode. I love Nomadic Knits. Met Becky by chance at a Brew Pub in Vermont while she was working on the Vermont issue. I was on vacation and couldn’t resist introducing myself to Becky when I saw her knitting at the Pub. I had never heard of Nomadic knits but, after meeting Becky and seeing her sample books, I bought all back issues and subscribed. Love their patterns! Was so excited when I found your patterns included. So happy you are promoting Nomadic Knits! It’s such a quality product and I am looking forward to my next issue!
Oh, you two beautiful souls. Thank you for addressing the pain we are all feeling and experiencing. I just had to put my hand to my heart and send you some love Tracie. You're raw emotion... Thank you for creating a space that's so beautiful to be apart of.
Yes I still have the black baby doll I got when I was 5 years old.And I am 65 years olds now.And in my eyes colour of your skin doesn’t matter we are crated equal.😢🇨🇦❤️🌹
Love your podcast. Thanks to your mom and dad for raising caring, thoughtful, women that speak up for human rights. It makes a difference. Love your knitting too
I spread this podcast over three days lol. I love listening to y’all while I’m knitting and my husband is watching whatever on tv 😁. Thank you for your words at the beginning of this episode,Jodi. Tracie, I cried along with you. 😢 I appreciate you girls. ❤️
Jack Weber Do it Do it Do it!!! I am a long time crocheter, but taught myself to knit a year ago and I LOVE IT!!! Getting the crochet bug again, but will always knit. I started with a washcloth video on UA-cam of the Granny's favorite dishcloth and it was simple, quick and kicked off my love of knotting. Have fun most of all!
Thank you Tracie and Jodi, for sharing your lives and your thoughts, not just your knitting with us. You mentioned economical yarns - another great one is Briggs & Little 100% wool yarn at great prices. It's more rustic, but softens with washing and is very wearable and very very affordable!
THANK YOU! As a person living just south of Minneapolis it was so good to hear you ladies talk about racism and George Floyd. My city is decimated. We need all the friends we can get to promote anti-racism. And the fact that you feel this pain so strongly is beautiful to me. 💗
You two are so genuine and kind(as per usual!) and right in how you addressed these current events. Thank you. I continue to support you two lovely ladies, you are my favorite podcasters. 💗💗
I sat with all of you with gratitude to express so many common feelings that I experienced this past week. Jodi, thank you for putting into words so eloquently my exact thoughts and Tracy for allowing us to also feel this vulnerability and helplessness. You set a great example on how to approach this humanity issue and I look further to taking part in further discussions.
I love that you are mentioning buying more commercial yarns for people on a budget. This has been a pet peeve of mine, seeing as some podcasters are so totally snobbish about the yarn they use. I even heard one of them here in Quebec say with a superior air that she only bought luxury yarn and would never knit anything with that "scrap" from Michaels or such other stores! Duh! I was so angry that I stopped watching them and unsubscribed immediately. If buying cheaper yarn is the only way one can afford to knit, there's nothing wrong with that! And we all know that activities like knitting can be therapeutic, even essential for some people's mental health. So again, thank you ladies!
I agree with you , if we want to have a truly inclusive knitting community we have to take in consideration that not every one can afford luxury yarns and no one should be shamed or judged for buying cheaper yarns.
Hello from Dundas Ontario! Love your podcasts! You always inspire me to knit.... all the beautiful yarns and patterns... wow! I have never knit socks... yes I am one of those!
Thank you, Jodie and Tracie, for this great podcast. For your recognizing the tragedies of the week, and for knowing that we also so badly need to join together to share in our craft to survive. I am ordering yarns from yarn shops, and I love what Anzula Yarns and a few others are doing to support the LYS. It's so important to try to keep them going. I am looking forward to their re-opening, even if just a 30-min shop-by-appointment like my local quilt shop is doing.
You are both beautiful genuine human beings, and I thank the good lord above that you guys are here in this crazy world, spreading positivity and love. Thank you both so much for your honesty, love and acceptance. The world is a better place because of you both.❤️❤️❤️👍
I've said it before but I really love you ladies! I've been through the mill of emotions with you today. Crying with Tracie and laughing my ass off with both of you. Keep it up!
You brought me to tears yet again.... I’m so sick of hearts and prayers for the families... Loved ones are gone forever and this has to stop! Thank you for bringing it up....
Thank you both for your heartfelt message regarding George Floyd at the beginning of your podcast. I've written (email) the Minneapolis Chief of Police and Police Administration, the Mayor of Minneapolis, and the Governor and Lt. Governor of Minnesota asking that they do everything within the powers of their respective offices to ensure that the investigation proceeds and the now-fired officers are held fully criminally accountable for what they've done. It feels like such a small, tiny thing...but it's a start, and we should all start in some way, in whatever way we can, to express our outrage. Peace to you both, and thanks for many hours of learning and laughing.
I'm watching this on the 20th of June because I've been working a lot so I need to catch up on your podcasts. I just want to say how much I appreciate you and how much it makes me feel more hopeful and safer knowing that the knitting community is authentically diverse and you two can be the voice of all of us white folks who are broken-hearted about how long this brutality has gone on, and how much we all need to step up and do to be proper allies to all these wonderful people in our community who suffer every single day.
Hendrikje Roelofse Protesting is a form of voting. You will not get the attention about racism with a plain vote: people can’t hear votes, but get a couple million people out protesting, and you will know what the problems are and what’s actually being done.
@@pamyclark1263 your right so to protest is your voice to be heard...……...…...……..fortunaly our voices are louder then in the US, but still there's work to be done. Greetings from the Netherlands. Stay safe
It was a horrible senseless murder. I agree with the protests, but not the violence against those whose lives they are destroying with all the looting and fires. My grandson is going to a local peaceful protest tonight, but will leave immediately if it turns ugly. So proud of him! Thank you for discussing this!
Thank you for not glossing by the horrible news this week.It is not easy to talk about but it is what we need to hear. May your kindness be contagious.
Thank you for addressing George Lloyd...my heart breaks over this unbelievable incident 💔 loved your podcast as usual, you girls are wonderful friends to knit with. Downloaded the book from audible...can’t wait to listen!
What a moving start to your podcast I cried with you Traci and Jodi you spoke so well for both of you. I love your podcast and oddly feel like I’m meeting two friends for a chat. Thank you for addressing this tragedy. Racism is learned is all I can say. ❤️❤️❤️
Sobbing along with you Traci, again. This is one of my favorite episodes. (Before the text discussion 😮😊). The commercial of George Floyd’s “sister” makes me hurt, and sob too. We cannot sit back in our pain not thinking about it happening again, as we may have done after the other ruthless murders with more names we must remember and use as fuel to make change happen! Breonna Taylor, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Hill, Ahmad Arbery, and on and on! ❤ you guys!
The emotion was real and genuine...such a sad state of affairs on top of everything else! Hoping the world heals soon; always enjoy your yarn and pattern info...
Amen Jodi and Tracie. My heart has ached all week. Love you girls. Your positivity is needed in this world. Added to our hundred thousand dead from this virus, you are right in saying this has been a very difficult week. Virtual hugs to you.
That's a shame about Bluprint. I don't understand why they didn't send an email to all customers. I hope they figure out what to do about our classes. I have bought 32 of them through the years. I would really hate to lose access to them.
TheCraftyVegan I didn’t receive email . I received email verifying a recent purchase , and one responding to my “never receiving forever codes “ 6 months post resubscribing . The customer help is always excellent . I don’t think they even knew they’d be losing jobs shortly . I was told to use my points erode August 2020, since they were not offering them after that. Reason ? Not many ppl used them ??? That may be bc we never recvd the codes . They changed to auto delivery to your Bluprint inbox ... a bit late. I’ve been a member from Craftsy days and have 156 classes . I’m very concerned what will be done to allow us to download . Couldn’t be at a worse time ? There’s a group for professional crafters, called Craft Alliance . Any one can join them . They always know what’s happening with Bluprint . A great source for anyone interested in the Craft community . Apparently a group called Pineapple .... bought the Bluprint content .. I agree , losing the Craftsy classes would be awful .The investment , and even worse the fantastic deep dive classes from the best of the best are irreplaceable
Thanks foe endorsing the idea that there is a yarn for everyone. I buy Plymouth yarns at my LYS...no hand dyed yarns are in my budget, and I buy lots of Lion Brand at Joann’s.. Red Heart also has some pretty nice yarns... believe it or not😊. I ctpfochdt and knit lots of preemie/Angel blankets...and teeny weeny hats, so I need yarn thst can go into the washer and dryer over and over. I like to use Lion Brand’s Shawl in a Ball, fir prayer shawls. It’s beautiful, but does not require special care... I’m going to finish one this weekend.. It’s for my friend, who recently lost her adult daughter . Enjoyed today’s podcast. Oh.. Marly Bird’s yarn is somewhere between six and ten dollars here.. the Cincinnati area. I’ve used it, and it’s nice. I am nit a member if Blueprint, but I really don’t understand . There must be a story behind the story, because there’s no way they can’t make money right now. Everybody has turned to the internet for just about everything.
I love Patons Kroy sock yarn for the Silver Lining Hat, it's knitted from crown to crown then folded into itself, so I switch colors at the middle and it becomes a reversible two layer hat .. so fun, love it!
I’m sorry I missed the live, but I am so glad that I’m watching this now. The beginning of this episode has me loving you ladies so much more. What infuriates me is that we are STILL fighting this after what, 200 years! Thank you for speaking so forcefully about this.
Thanks for the code for the sweet fox sweater. And I've been wanting both the Virginia edition of Nomadic Knits and the Florida one, but couldn't decide. Tonight I was able to get them both for one price! So I am filled with Gratitude! I was very touched by your tears Tracie. I feel helpless myself to effect the changes needed. But I did talk with my 12 year old grandson about racism related to the murder and touched on our own mixed Native American heritage and the prejudice that often comes with that. I truly think the next generation could be our salvation, because online, color isn't as obvious or important to them.
you can cut strips of cotton material and use that with the wool instead of the knitcollage. just make sure you get cotton with the print on both sides. love both of you.
I swore I wasn’t buying any more yarn for the year but then you introduced me to Shirley Brian and this sock yarn. Now I have to explain this to my husband lol
We can do our part by treating every one with kindness and love.Smile at someone, ask how the person's day is. Never underestimate the positive impact you make on another. I was angered about what happened to George. Person responsible needs to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. You two are beautiful human beings!❤
Thank you for your love and your honest expression. 💜 And I encourage folks who haven’t discovered the Yarn Harlot’s blog to find it and read. She writes so well - makes you think, laugh, cry.
Love you guys, Remember over history, "ONE VOICE", was all it took to change the world. Be it Mandela, Kennedy, Armstrong, Parks, King, Fox, Hansen, and the list goes on and on, as to the people that have made a difference. So, let our voices be heard.
Thank you for addressing the "elephant in the room" - aren't we all humans? We ALL look different and come from different life experiences - and that is what makes us PEOPLE! And, watching you as you speak about LYS - the two in my immediate area have closed their doors permanently thanks to COVID....I am SO upset - I used to go knit with friends at both of them, and loved supporting them! Luckily I stocked up on yarn before we were in "lockdown"...
You both have such kind hearts and love how you use your podcast in support of diff issues. Jodi love the F bombs cracks me up and Tracie you are too funny also. You gals are perfect together. Absolutely love the podcast. Still binge watching your past videos and loving them
Thank you, ladies, for your podcast and for sharing. I cried. I do not understand why this is still going on in this world today, meaning that someone had to die before we open our eyes! I wrote this before I had a chance to check in with the news and saw the protests. To all of you that had a chance to protest and still are protesting, please be safe. I removed my other comments with respect.
It’s not just black life matters, ALL LIVES MATTER!! I have a mixed race family and it doesn’t matter what color we are!! Remember the song from our childhoods, Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white they are precious in His life. Jesus loves the children of the world. Thank you girls for your kind words ❤️❤️❤️
I hear your hearts! Thank you for not glossing over- for saying his name George Floyd, and encouraging others to Do Something to effect change. Thank you for caring! Thank you for bringing some joy...
I have to say.. I would have thought the same thing about the sweater adding bulk.. but girl it looks amazing and now I need to make it!!! It is slimming.. makes me think of the sisterhood of the traveling pants...
If you want to learn how to knit a sock, on Marly Bird's youtube channel she has a 6 part video series, and a free pattern with red heart. The pattern is worsted weight, designed for her 100% super-wash merino yarn with red heart (chic sheep). It's how I learned how to knit my first pair of socks and I found it very informative. Also her chic sheep yarn is a more affordable 100% wool yarn and it is fantastic.

Ladies you are an inspiration for everything you do 💖
I adore you two. Thank you for being so kind and for discussing this today.
Thank you for your willingness to share yourselves.
Thank you, thank you for addressing the deep issue of racism, as a white mom with 4 adopted African American children.
Amen, Amen, Amen. Thank you for speaking the truth. Having grown up as a person of privilege, I know I need to hear this conversation. VOTE!!!!!
Thank you ladies.
OH YOU TWO, HAD ME BALLING BIG CROCODILE TEARS, THEN LAUGHING SO HARD, ALMOST PEED MY PANTS. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
You guys make 2 hours feel like 15 minutes I love it
Jodi lets just say I have great respect for you both and your dear hearts!🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️🏆🏆🏆
I really respect you two and I am thankful you spoke about George Floyd today. Hello from Florida, USA.
Wow. That Fox pattern is so so cute!!
Don't forget Briggs & Little from New Brunswick! It's the most affordable pure wool in all weights and in tons of colours you can find. 😊
Still binge watching your past videos and loving them
I love Eweknit! I made their Ilsa Scarf with the Handmaiden wool and it is Beautiful....I wear it almost everyday 💙
God made man in his image so who r we to judge others. We r the same under our skin
Love love love you girls!!!
Thank you girls, I always watch and you are right, everyone matters, and I vote!
And I vote!
Big hugs to you both. Agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments and share your concerns and distress.
You ladies are the best! ❤️😘🥰
It's Thursday!!! Or Saturday - I don't care!!! Let the laughter begin!!! Love you two!!
I hear your hearts! Thank you for not glossing over- for saying his name George Floyd, and encouraging others to Do Something to effect change. Thank you for caring! Thank you for bringing some joy...
You keep me sane. Thank you. 😊
I have to say.. I would have thought the same thing about the sweater adding bulk.. but girl it looks amazing and now I need to make it!!! It is slimming.. makes me think of the sisterhood of the traveling pants...
I love you guys! You really cheer me up!
Love all the bags. I wish all bags, even the small ones, had inside pockets.
Great baby/children book. Would love to knit this for grandbabies.
Thank you for the Jackalope inspiration! She has a lovely kit for a bulky weight cardigan that includes SEQUINS!!!! OMG!!!!
