I think we NEED a comparison between the original Givenchy formula and the new one. You always do the best close up natural light comparisons that show real HD details and I think that could be very valuable with this particular reformulation!
The givenchy reformulation is abysmal. It has mica as the first ingredient. It’s super shiny and chalky. There’s like one shade in the dark category that doesn’t reflect as much. And all the comments under Givenchy’s instagram are people absolutely upset about it.
I’m SO SAD that they’ve reformulated the Givenchy powder. I’ve been obsessed with shade 3 is so freaking beautiful and puts every other powder I’ve tried to shame. But I’m almost out of mine and earlier today I went on the Sephora site to get a new one and discovered the devastating news. I’m glad to see you feel the same way about this stuff because I’m looking to you for a good replacement. Thank you so much for being the formula snob that you are. ❤
No one ever talks about it, but I love Danessa Myricks pink powder. I have it in translucent, too. It’s a really beautiful powder, and the price point is pretty affordable, comparatively.
It's not really a dud, it's just not a setting powder anymore. It reminds me of Guerlain meteorites now, but it's awful from Givenchy that they still claim it's for setting and blurring when it's really not anymore.
Same here!!! I was going to buy the Givenchy the next time I went to Sephora! Now I’m SO sad! I have normal-dry mature skin with a very light complexion. I feel like, with the way it’s described by so many, that it would have become my holy grail! I guess I’ll never know, now. Bummer!
I’m obsessed with the T28 pink powder! I had no doubt that it was going to be a hit for me. It’s soooooo blurring and keeps me nicely shine free for hours. If I want a super matte and long wearing look, I use it with a powder puff. If I just want to tone down the shine, I use a fluffy brush. Phenomenal release, truly. I also really really love the Westman Atelier powder and actually finished it up (thus the T28 purchase). I personally don’t think they’re that similar! The WA is much more finely milled and has a much more natural finish; it doesn’t completely take away all of the shine. You almost can’t overdo it no matter how much you put on and I love that! However, because it’s not super mattifying, it’s not super long wearing either. You definitely need to touch up if you’re an oily skin type! I absolutely would’ve repurchased the WA if they had refills (the pan pops out!). Apparently it was said to be in the works (and I can’t imagine why they can’t release it when they need to make it to put it into the compact..) but it has yet to be released sooooo. It’s way too expensive (and unnecessary) to buy another entire compact so until there is a refill, I will not be repurchasing! But yeah, long rant to say that they’re both amazing powders and I have no regrets with either of them. Lol!
Over the last 8 years or so I have trusted the Hourglass Vail Loose Powder. I have tried to find alternatives because of the price increasement but I always end up going back to it. I have dry under eye area and HG powder has never made me look with creepy under eyes. 10/10!
I love the Kosas Cloud Set, The Dior Powder No Powder (hope they bring it back), Hourglass Finishing Powders, and then for loose powder I love the Lunar Beauty Lunarversal Powder. (I have dry skin for reference)
I am infuriated with Givenchy’s reformulation. It used to be one of the best powder for thin, dry skin (along with suqqu and Chantecaille). But the reformulated one perform worse than the $10 drugstore powder.
I love the NYX HD loose powder. It’s super finely milled and is nearly undetectable on the skin. It doesn’t have great reviews but I think that it’s because it’s messy when opened. There’s a fine mist of powder that comes out in a cloud when opened. I think the effect is worth a little mess. Also, it’s most pronounced when the container is full. Over time it is much less messy.
I currently have the old givenchy no3 powder, laura mercier, elf, one size and k beautys insinfree no sebum mineral powder blows them out of the water.(and its like 8 bucks) Undetectable on skin, yet controls oil and shine all day and blurs pores. Also most finely milled out of tbe bunch Intrested to try the new tower 28 and would love to hear your thoughta
I have the Nabla powder & I enjoy it, it’s not my top favorite in how it looks on the skin for me, but that’s comparing it to my Givenchy powder and my PMG Labs undereye powder. However, exactly what you said about the thin packaging & the great mirror… I put it in my travel bag, so that’s the one I use whenever I travel & leave my other powders at home. I love it for that.
If anyone lives in a country where they can get the PRESSED version of the Givenchy powder (that would be mainly the EU but maybe other places?), then that one is currently still the formula with talc and you can still purchase it. I just got 2 backups of it! Since companies have to remove talc from formulas that we can inhale, that mainly concerns loose formulas, and hopefully they won’t change the pressed one?
I drove an hour last weekend to pick up the last loose powder and pressed powder of the Givenchy in the state I live in, in Australia. It’s the best powder I’ve ever used. My skin is dry so I use powder sparingly but I decided it was a good investment to pick it up while I still could.
The only loose powder that I have tried that has worked for me, is the Lunar Beauty Lunarversal powder. I use the pink and the light shade. Blurring, lightweight, beautiful! I haven’t used another loose powder since! For pressed powder I love the Kosas cloud set, Bobbi Brown pressed powder, and the Dior Powder No Powder (I hope they bring this back!)
I bought the Bodyography Glitters and the Auric Smoke Reflect because of you lol. I appreciate your thoughts on products and how thorough you are. Because of the mass class actions involving talc in products specifically the Johnson & Johnson and Avon class actions, the industry is going to be pivoting away from talc especially now that the FDA is starting to become a little bit more involved on the cosmetic/skin care end of regulations. Have you tried the Tarte loose powders? Are they worth trying?
I found this video specifically because of the Givenchy Prisme Libre reformulation. I have used Givenchy's Prisme Libre in Voile Rosé for many, many years and it was everything I wanted and needed in a powder. It left the most beautiful radiant, healthy finish, was never drying and yet managed to control my natural oils where it needed to. It left a beautiful smooth canvas and finally gave me confidence in my own skin. I purchased the reformulated version around 2 months ago and it has gone from being an absolute holy grail to being a powder I will never, never purchase again. It zaps every ounce of moisture from my skin and leaves it looking dry, chalky, dull and lacklustre. It no longer has that beautiful balance of controlling oil and yet being non-drying. The only thing it seems to do with success for my skin is to make it look dull, unhealthy and lacking in any brightness or radiance. Perhaps the worst reformulation out of all product reformulations I can think of, ever!
Honestly in term of "non-cakyness" the Max Factor compact powder is still the best for me, and yes I've tried many of the fancy ones. Nothing compare. The Saie wasn't cakey but it dried out my skin.
I wish they brought it back, the more recent foundation launches from them have been duds. The About Face foundation is the closest dupe in terms of formulation (and doe foot applicator) and has better shade options
Did you try the Huda beauty powder and if so what do you think about it ? I know it's a very loved powder !! And are you willing to try the new foundation and primer by Huda and maybe give us your opinion when they launch I just saw Nikki la rose video about givenchy !! What a shame they had to reformulate it
I am currently using translucent Westman Atellier and like it for taking away shine. Purchased the Givenchy original formulation before it was reformulated but I haven't started using it.
I have mature & very dry skin. Since hitting perimenopause, in the winter I can barely wear foundation, let alone powder bcuz of how dry my skin gets. I also have under-eye darkness that’s gotten worse as my skin has thinned and gotten dryer. I go really light with foundation/skin tints but I am a concealer junkie who has spent the last 10 yrs on a hunt for a holy grail under-eye concealer/powder combo. I use the pat McGrath pressed under eye powder & it’s lovely. I totally recommend! I actually repurchased it after I dropped/broke it. I have fair skin w/neutral undertones & I use the lightest translucent shade. I also use it to bring down glow around my T-zone. It’s small and expensive but I use such a small amount that it goes a long way and is worth it for me. I have the new PM pink shade in my cart but might try the elf halo/tower 21 pink shades instead. I use the PM for a matte finish, to bring down shine/glow. I also have the phytosurgence cream highlighter in fresh fog - it’s a super unique hard cream/powder formula that blurs. I use it under my eyes to set my concealer and brighten as well. It reflects light, and gives some glow - sometimes I use a little bit of both. I also have the next shade up, moonlight something, and I’ll use that to set other areas as a glowy/finish. Hope that helps.
If you love the Kosas powder you might enjoy the Sephora microsmooth baked face powder. I heard they reformulated a while back though so hopefully it's still good.
I remember that Healthy foundation, its a drugstore one, which stands out to me because I dont buy that much drugstore cosmetics, it was pretty good, as I recall, but my skin was also in better condition then, but I did like it. To me whenever a brand reformulates a product, instead of just offering another formula variant, entirely new product, its usually not a good thing, but it seems to me that if there is a particularly great cosmetic product thats a popular go to, among a variety of skin types, it gets reformulated. inevitably, changing into something I won't continue using. very odd indeed. reformulate to ruin the product; case in point Dior forever concealer. 1st formula remarkably better than the glass bottle version that replaced the original.
Hi! I’m trying to find the right powder for me so this video was great timing. :-) Would you mind comparing the tower 28 and the Nabla with the kosas cloud set, and which might work well for normal/maturing skin?
Yeah, I'm curious about that one because it contains both mica (the first ingredient) and talc, as well as silica. So does the OG Givenchy, but talc is first, followed by synthetic fluorphlogopite (aka synthetic mica) and then silica again in third place. But Moira also adds avocado oil and rice starch, along with a tiny bit of konjac root at the very end, and some sodium hyaluronate. So it's quite a different formula, a seemingly more hydrating version. I've used the pressed finishing version of this Moira powder and been very pleased with it; it's also rather firmly pressed in the pan so it doesn't kick up a ton. I've always used it lightly and it's been undetectable on me. Moira can have some occasional duds but they often do a great job providing top-notch stuff; I've yet to be disappointed in the things I've tried from them. You know what throwback powder I'm sad about also being discontinued? The Catrice Prime & Fine Waterproof pressed powder. That was my very first pressed powder (I think it was about $7 back in 2017) and I was shocked at how undetectable it also was, even on my very peach-fuzzy and textured skin. Also firmly pressed with no kick-up, it was gonna last me for years (I finally had to let it go because it was too old). I remember Zabrena putting it to heavy duty testing to prove it really was waterproof, lol. Alas, I see it's gone from their current lineup. But happily the pressed Moira Set & Correct has taken its place.
I have it, it's not as good as the Givenchy. It can get dry and cakey on dry skin. The positive reviews I've seen are tbh by people who are not very discerning IMO. Not worth it. I recommend the Danessa Myricks $24 (soft matte) or Hourglass Veil.
Amanda, please use the new Nabla pressed powder in an on screen review/wear test. I love how slimline it is and I need a new pressed powder I can fit in a small handbag or clutch. I really don’t want to spend Westman Atelier money though 😅
I remember the Physicians Formula Healthy Skin Foundation but I never tried it for some reason! What I did try, and miss sooo much, is the Healthy Skin Essence Spray!!! It was awesome! It was almost pure galactomyces ferment filtrate spray with a lovely mister! I found a few bottles at TJ Max when they discontinued the line and bought them all, but I ran out a few months ago!😢
Loved it Amanda. About to do the same. For me and my dry skin, powders are a big bugaboo. Found the chantecaille ones to be pretty good as well as the givenchy
Hi Amanda, I’m new to your channel and I have dry skin so powders can be tricky and scary. I was wondering if you tried Dominique, Nikkia Joy, or Ciele powders? If so what are your thoughts? I’m excited to learn more from you. Have a beautiful weekend~❤
Thank you for this video. I truly trust your reviews. Can you please review the MUFE HD new loose powder, and the New Tower 28 pressed powder for under the eyes.
I’d love your thoughts on the Koh Gen Do powders since you love the Aqua foundation. I have the brightening moisture powder (pressed) and it can look heavy if I go in with too much but I’m curious about the loose as well. My fave is the By Terry Hydra Powder (loose) applied with a damp sponge only to the center of my face. It is quite mattifying but not chalky and the blurring is 🤌
The PF Healthy foundation was my go-to for a long time, it looked beautiful, and surprisingly I was able to find a good shade match for my skin tone, my only complaint was the packaging, it'd get really messy over time but the product was really good... keep us updated about the Nabla powder, and could you review the T28 and the RMS powders? thnx! 🤗
I also have very dry skin and tend to use little powder in general. Honestly, the best one I’ve tried (from an admittedly small sample size) is the Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural. It never looks powdery and doesn’t dry out my skin. I wonder if you’ve ever tried it.
Great video! Check out RMS Beauty’s Hydra Setting Powder. It is a clean formula and has a finish that doesn’t get cakey or show dry patches. I’ve been using it over the Suncoverup Super Tint with SPF 50 and it is gorgeous on. I’m a new convert to RMS and their Redimension Hydra Powder Blushes and Bronzers (loving Boardwalk Betty) are gorgeous on top of this base. I’m a former model who just turned 50, and my sensitive skin has never looked so good.
I heard Givenchy pulled the reformulation and are going back to the old formula. No idea if that is true or not but I heard that from people at the brand. 🤷♀️
@@krystaleverett5197 i’m not sure how that is possible since they reformulated to remove talc due to contamination issues. So going back… would be difficult.
Like I said, I am not sure. I heard it on another channel that was reviewing the new version. They said the pink shade was pulled from stock everywhere and the company put in urgent purchase orders because of the backlash and they were going back. I have no idea if any of that is true. It is the internet and people claim lies all the time. As a lover of very few powders and a recent fan who just bought the mini to try out, I hope it is true because I use it daily.
If you look, everywhere shows out of stock that I have found. I hope they listened that people hate when companies do this. I did see one person liked the new one better but she was oily and they added kaolin to it. As a dry skin person, I don't want to lose any of my oils.
Hello Amanda! Could you please make a video where you test new vs old formula of Givenchy powder. Oh and also Hourglass veil loose vs new pressed version would be also super helpful. I still couldn’t find the one for me😅 thanks
Would love your full review of tower 28’s powder. I get really dry under eyes with most powders despite some serious skin prep. By Terry is my current fave.
For anyone looking for the old version of the givenchy powders sone sephoras still have the minis in the checkout line..i stocked up..good for 2 years now😅
I heard there was one from Lottie that's comparable to the older Givenchy, and it's super cheap (might try it). I want a very soft and cooling powder like Prescriptives used to sell. Magic Liquid Powder.
Hi Amanda. Mandy Davis has a video on the Givenchy original vs. new one ~ she noted that the new one in Cupcake is almost the same as the Original Givinchy in the Rose color ~ I guess removing the talc wasn't an improvement. Anyway, you may want to take a peek at her channel ~ sorry I can't remember the name of the video but it's a recent one.
I went off social media for a few days while visiting NYC, big mistake. This was the time period that Givenchy released their new formulated powder. My tiny Sephora in the Midwest did not have my shade when I tried to purchase it in the old formula. So, I bought it in NYC from this gigantic Sephora in the new talc free formula, mistakenly. I have heard that the lighter shades are the crappy ones. Luckily, I bought a mini.
Every Tower 28 product I’ve tried-cream blushes, lipgloss, cream bronzer, skin tint, powder-has gone bad (stinky, hard pan, color change) within 3 months. Maybe it’s the “clean” preservatives but I don’t even bother with them anymore.
There’s only one shade to cover deep/dark skintones. It works for me (if I’m not super tanned) but I’m at the medium-deep end of the spectrum. That’s quite a lot of people to leave out. I wonder how adaptable the tan shade is for people in that skintone range.
I heard and tried the powder the old formula, but unfortunately, due to the perfume and scent in it. I had to return it. Why put perfume in a product 😢
I still use my physician Formula healthy foundation it's my go to !! Please give me recommendation for something similar to it I know what foundations you like but if you recommend one that is similar yo PF I'm sure It'll work for me 🥺🥺🥺🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think we NEED a comparison between the original Givenchy formula and the new one. You always do the best close up natural light comparisons that show real HD details and I think that could be very valuable with this particular reformulation!
Nikki la rose posted a video on just this! It is on her channel

This is good to know. I’ve been thinking of a pink powder, but don’t know where to start.
I wanted to finally try the Givenchy and now it’s a dud (according to the internet)!!! Can’t wait for your review on the new makeup by Mario powders!
Yeah I’m super upset by that I loved the pink one and wanted to try the blue green one as well.

Would you mind comparing the tower 28 and the Nabla with the kosas cloud set, and which might work well for normal/maturing skin?
Would love for you to try Moira’s dupe for the Givenchy Prisme Libre powder. Reviews online seem good but I’m dry and picky like you 😂
Yeah, I'm curious about that one because it contains both mica (the first ingredient) and talc, as well as silica.
@@notimportant123 I suspected it wouldn’t be as good. TY!
I’d love to see a review and wear test of the Tower powder!
Yes on the Tower 28 powder review!!
Yes to the T28 powder review!
I really like the Koh Gen Doh ones.
Try Glowish. Its the only powder that ever worked for my severe dry skin
I love this video!! I do love a setting powder. I love the e.l.f and Kosas, and MOB. I would love to know what you think of the Tower 28 powders!!
It is quite mattifying but not chalky and the blurring is 🤌
I would love to see your opinion on the reformulated givenchy powder!
Two powders hoping to get your feedback on are Hourglass and RCMA.
Woah!
Having no talc still would be okay, but the why add the shimmer, that’s what everyone was upset about
This video came at a perfect time 😊
Hello Amanda!
The Givenchy powder .. is it heavily fragranced? Does the scent linger?
Thank you... this was helpful!💜
For me by terry ha setting powder is very similar if not the same on my skin like old version of Givenchy
People are exaggerating over the new formula of guvenchy I used it and it’s fine
The hourglass loose powder is like not putting powder on your face. It’s so weird and I like it.
For anyone looking for the old version of the givenchy powders sone sephoras still have the minis in the checkout line..i stocked up..good for 2 years now😅
How do you reccomend using the Givenchy powder? I have one and I can never get it to look nice, it always clings to everything
What about the new Huda powders? Are they good for dry skin?
I heard there was one from Lottie that's comparable to the older Givenchy, and it's super cheap (might try it). I want a very soft and cooling powder like Prescriptives used to sell. Magic Liquid Powder.
Oh my gosh! I used to love the Prescriptives powder and that cooling sensation 💕
So upset about the Givenchy reformulation. Wish they never changed ir
Every Tower 28 product I’ve tried-cream blushes, lipgloss, cream bronzer, skin tint, powder-has gone bad (stinky, hard pan, color change) within 3 months. Maybe it’s the “clean” preservatives but I don’t even bother with them anymore.
The westman atelier powder actually has five shades! So they have for deeper shades as well:)
There’s only one shade to cover deep/dark skintones. It works for me (if I’m not super tanned) but I’m at the medium-deep end of the spectrum. That’s quite a lot of people to leave out. I wonder how adaptable the tan shade is for people in that skintone range.
what is the best compact powder to keep in the bag?
what is the closest drugstore/relatively cheaper alternative to the givenchy?? i want it soo bad but its sooo pricy
FYI…. They do have other shades of the Westman Atelier pressed powder. 5 total. ❤
I saw that!!! Phew I’m happy to see it, thank you for commenting!
I heard and tried the powder the old formula, but unfortunately, due to the perfume and scent in it. I had to return it. Why put perfume in a product 😢
Powders are one item that warrants buying high end or luxury because they are more finely milled. Chantecaille. Sisley. LaMer, etc
The La Mer pressed is great
I still use my physician Formula healthy foundation it's my go to !!
Please give me recommendation for something similar to it
I know what foundations you like but if you recommend one that is similar yo PF I'm sure It'll work for me 🥺🥺🥺🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
3. My GL has 4 shades in the rose
If you find a Givenchy dupe, please let us know. Ive used the one for redness for decades & now there is nothing like it out there.
Nikki La Rose tried the new Givenchy, and it's sparkly, there's no talc. It's completely different.
I have oily tzone with noticeable pores. Which would blur and slightly mattify (i dont like flat matte finish)?
Has anyone tried the new rare beauty setting powder, if so how did you like it?
