      yeah, but it's not the nurses or newsagents or accountants of this world that are buying all these stolen tools, it's other builders. If builders stopped buying stolen tools, then break-ins would practically cease. It's simple supply and demand. It's the same with heavy plant. This happened to a neighbour's Ford transit while he was in a lidl store. Everything gone. Hilti, makita, dewalt tools etc... As a steel fabricator, Van's are a tin box. A cordless device with a low noise level & you can peel the steel open like a banana. So, an alarm system is essential.

      @@garygranato9164 Yep. There is always a design consideration. You want to minimize cost of ownership (read: gas/petro mileage), you reduce weight where you can. The vehicles simply wouldn't sell if they armored them and assumed the consequent mileage penalty. The market will respond with better internal security solutions. Until then, there's always locks and chains.

      Ford reimburse ?? Don’t make me laugh.Fords are complete junk and I am talking from experience they are cheap for a reason. Made a big mistake moving our vans from Mercedes to Ford transits. AdBlue issues , engine management light rear brake callipers seizing after 3 months , couldn’t get it booked in for 6 weeks 😂😂😂😂 ended up paying an independent to do it and what a nightmare to get reimbursed by Fix Or Repair Daily, Had one broke into , had to get the door lock upgraded , alarm upgrade as I assumed it had an alarm but it was only central locking so why the hazards flash for is beyond me , but an expensive lesson learnt. Got rid , lost money but my sprinters are working every day , no issues and if I have an issue I have 24/7/365 support with overnight servicing NOT waiting 6 weeks 😂😂😂😂to get a vehicle looked at. Considering FORD are the biggest selling van in its class they haven’t a clue what a business customer needs in terms of service and support

      both cars and houses are all extremely (I really mean extremely) easy to break into.
      They were even in the era before high powered cordless tools but now we are in an age where you can buy (or steal) an angle grinder from Lidl or aldi, and use it to cut through 20mm hardened steel shackles like nothing. The light weight mild steel panels of a vehicle or its windows have no chance at all.
      Cars themselves are not stolen that often because they are difficult to sell unless absolutely perfect, very high end and in demand overseas.
      But it doesn't matter if you damage a van to take what's inside, and all vans will always be vulnerable.

    • @boxsterman77
      @boxsterman77 4 роки тому +2

      Yeah. I think you are a real cynical man. Or maybe there have been hundreds (thousands) of hours of design review sessions, mockups, production capability meetings, joint testing etc., to make sure that the deployed security system seems authentic enough while still containing an ingeniously designed weakness--all so that Ford can invest more to rush out remedies to address unfavorable press and declining goodwill just so they can sell new door fittings--because Ford Motor has always wanted to be the the number one after-market door security company. Sure.

    • @gdfggggg

      Brian Coady I don’t see Ford rushing out remedies to all the effected vans. They may build it into their new products but there are 1000’s of their old vans driving around with inferior security. Maybe they need to employ some people who at least have half a clue on how to secure a van. The security issues are incredibly simplistic despite as you said “hours of design review sessions, production capability...

      Not exactly! Ford have the highest spare parts in wrecking yards and heaps of copy made parts made cheaper. The do make money but if you think about european brands like Mercedes, volvo etc they are car companies selling spare parts hell of out more expensive.
      I mean when you compare a new alternator for a ford Falcon for $150 or $50 for a good second hand one
      As to volvo that wanted nearly $1800 thats half the current resale value of the damn volvo, I prefer the Ford.

    • @blzbub1
      @blzbub1 4 роки тому +2

      Yep a ballache, but it has to be done. However, the last two times I got mine robbed was in the middle of the working day, once (18 months ago) when I stopped off to pick up some timber and it got robbed on the car park and emptied of around 3k of gear and secondly, I parked to go buy a sandwich and had the van robbed and emptied again (around 2k gone) Nightmare! so even if your van is emptied overnight, they know it's full during the day. I think they follow trade vans and just wait for their opportunity. Police caught the 1st bunch, it was an organised gang and they lifted over 60k of stuff over two days. Nothing got recovered, they got their hands slapped and police advised me against seeking personal recovery against them as they were claiming "no fixed abode" and my Court Claim would include my personal details and they (the police) knew that previous Claimants against them had been "persuaded" to drop their claims. I guess the added security has to be considered, I was dumb to think I wouldn't get hit twice :-(

Perfect for leaving your vehicle in a public parking area or in the driveway where you could come out and catch a thief red handed. It worked well for me while in a motel one night. Police told us they knew by next day where it was but they would not arrest anyone because they wanted to know what they were going to do with it first? two week later it came back hand painted blue colour and not a god bless you from the coppers. They had their man and we could just inform the insurance, hey ho! Any trades person or traders who does not have a Thatcham 2 and independent immobiliser on their van is just asking for trouble. What these van manufacturers are selling is just not good enough. Commercial vehicles have been a target for thieves for years, yet they continue to do nothing meaningful about vulnerabilities. Why should we have to spend £k’s fixing a problem that shouldn’t even exist. Ford are probably the worst culprit, but none of the current manufacturers seem to be taking this seriously. If all commercial vehicles had better physical security as standard, there would be a lot less thieving from them.

Old cars and vans are stolen for export. Our prisons are full and ireland is now seen as a place of opportunity to commit crime without the chance of deportation. Our government have closed down many rural farming area Garda ( police stations ) causing many young irish farmers to just give up and emergrate. Only to have the family farms being sold to big international farm groups. The insurance companys owned by the banks are only happy to sign new mortgage on the family farm for new farm machinery.
