Is it great for movie making?
It could absolutely be used for movie making! You could very easily boom it and get great results.

There is nothing wrong with high gain setting on the mic, the best setting for good quality audio is gain level mic: 9 and the receiver on approximately +4.
I'll have to try that. I am relatively new to this type of mic, so I am experimenting.
