Hey man , truly inspired me 2 days ago I started selling my art. I’ve been doing art for under a year , and I completely sold out , sold all 13 canvases now I can buy more supply
Thank you so much for this video. I've been out of doing any art for almost 10 years, and never took it seriously. Now I'm back into it and would love to make this a career.
Well done thank you for short listing those sites. I’ve been operating a brick and mortar gallery that doubles as a creative space between a few friends. We’ve struggled in our market (alaska) with a lot of lame middle men galleries or coffee shops that don’t really put proper venue together for art installations. I think the best thing about running the gallery has been realizing how much validation and support it brings to local art community by being willing to make a home for the art community because we are selves are artists.
No problem! 🙂 I think both artists and galleries are struggling quite a bit at the mo worldwide. But yeah brick and mortsr galleries are very important for the creative community (most of them anyway) so I'm sure there are many people that appreciate you being there! 🙂
Selling your own art online is really the equivalent to a musician busking on the street - It is not high status (but at least the busker gets to keep pretty much all of the money). All online galleries like Saatchi Art are "Vanity Galleries" - Most people will never make a reasonable living by selling on them. They are not about breaking new artists, they are about selling painterly wallpaper based on fashionable art from the past.
Thank you very much ! It was most helpful and it enabled me to make a decision to choose which platform I would use. Wish you all the best and more and more success.
Help, I'm wanting to sell on art finder but idk how When I google it it's how to attract people to ur art but I literally don't know where the button is to sell art, help?
Hey ComedyRole, i'm assuming there will be a application button on their website at the bottom, however things have changed since the recording of this video and I no longer recommend Artfinder as a platform to sell your art, if you want to know why I made a follow up video here: ua-cam.com/video/NnJveAYukzU/v-deo.html
I have just found your video about selling, it was really helpful, thank you, I have recently uploaded my work to Saatchi, so it was reassuring that you gave it the thumbs up :-) Are you a Geordie by the way ?
Hi Anthony, is it me or is the search engine on Saatchi very odd and confusing ? My wife has many paintings submitted in the last few weeks and yet when I select from the left margin certain criteria (Art type/price/country/and colour code from the palate) it never once brings up any of her paintings. How on earth are buyers going to find her if this doesn't work ? Ditto for my photography. It seems that it favours only certain artists who sell which is unfair.
Hi Ian. Yeah you'll find that, it's similar with pretty much all sites (including UA-cam) they have built in algorithms that favour artists etc who are performing better than others which means smaller creators have to try even harder to be seen and visible. I'd work on promoting your art on social media or if you're are finding artwork that is over saturated, try to add a bit of a spin on it so it stands out from the rest. It's a tough one though, I've been there (I'm still there) so I don't have all the answers I'm afraid! It's a grind and a bloody hard one!!
@@AnthonyCrammen Thanks. That's a shame as it almost seems pointless if Saatchi makes some invisible to buyers. Not very democratic at all and very biased. How long does it take to get paid back 3. Are there any monthly fees like etsy ?
I'm glad you found my video helpful! Yeah my experience has been fine with saatchi, is it amazing? Not at all but it's ok. And nope there are no monthly fees just the comission that they take off the artwork once sold. Hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you need to know anything else!

Hi Jacqeline, I'm not entirely sure what drop shipping is. But you do need to have your artwork, package the artwork, print labels and attach to package and then a courier arrives to collect your package which can be organised to whichever address is easiest for you. No problem Roger. However since recording this video vagoart have closed their doors and Artfinder have changed drastically, i'll be creating a follow up video soon so stay tuned!
I sell on Saatchi, well, sell isn't the word as I haven't made a bean but plenty of likes and follows. Looks like its another social media to showcase your work. However, I do wonder how some are selling prints/paintings/ etc for 20k for instance. I suppose you have to have a name or know a lot of rich friends who want to buy your work. Saatch's website is also incredibly slow and cumbersome which seems to favour certain artists work as being showcased or coming up first in the searches. Its certainly not democratic.
Yeah you'll find that with the majority of art selling sites which is a shame. I just sold a sculpture on the site a couple of days a go so it does happen to the nobodies too! It wasn't a £20,000 piece of work though! I wish! 😅😅
Hi Keith, glad I could help. Although I created a follow up video as some information has changed. If you get a chance have a look here: ua-cam.com/video/NnJveAYukzU/v-deo.html
Anthony am struggling to sell my work. Ive been doing art for 20 plus years and have sold about 20 or more bits through the years but wanted to go in full time. Am on sites but not going anywhere....any advice?
Not sure I have any amazing advice unfortunately. Just like any other area of work, competition is fierce and it's going to be even harder now due to the pandemic and the aftermath of that. I would say try to use social media to your advantage and network with local galleries and artist run buisnesses in your area. But yeah it's a tough industry and I'm by no means an expert sorry!
I went to ArtFinder and I search for digital art but I didn't see digital art in their category ?? I draw on iPad so is ther a way that i can sell it ?
They just take off 35% for comission and if a customer uses a discount code then the comission will come from the discounted price and not the original price. Hope that helps!
sry i dont watch the entire video. so do you need to prepared your print on demand as requested and shipping method, or the site take care it all for u after payment?
Nalnal it depends what site you’re using. for example, if you’re using redbubble, you just have to upload your art and they do the rest for you. but if you’re using a different site like etsy, you’re the one doing everything, including the shipping. hope this helped :)
I'm at a local gallery and I haven't been very successful. I live in a very small town and I am the youngest member currently at this gallery, everyone else has a good 30 years on me. The gallery is full of traditional landscapes, still lifes, and portrait artists; while my style is more modern, impressionistic, and abstract. My art sticks out like a sore thumb and the age gap makes communication and possible learning opportunities with these older artists very difficult because they tend to look down on me. It's all very frustrating, and I constantly feel like I have to prove myself and play kiss ass to get anywhere. So I want to turn more to an online platform to sell my art, but I'm not sure where to start or what website to join. Your suggestions, experiences, and incite is a great help with determining what websites I should try out, thank you.
Glad I could help Ashland! It's quite difficult when you have a different point of view from other people but take it as a positive thing. A buyer/collector are more likely to be drawn to work they've never seen before rather than the millions of paintings/sculptures with similar themes that have been done to death and have no clear viewpoint. Speading your work online will definitely help with exposure! Good luck!!! 🙂🙂🙂
I’m trying to find a place to sell digital art for commissions. I want it to be a place where people could send a reference sheet of the desired character. Or tell me what animation\art piece they want. Like a place where they could send money to me. Or tell me what they want in private message. Any ideas?
I'm not 100% clued up on digital art. It sounds like fiver could be an option for you to have a look at? I think their site uses a comission based structure so it might be worth checking that out!
10 dollars tops, if it’s a simple character ref sheet, 2 dollars. If it’s complicated and you want an anatomy design and clothing set, 7-10 dollars. But my parents are still talking about it and still haven’t decided if they want me selling shit,
Hi Luis, no problem. You might be interest in my follow up video as things have changed since making this one. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/NnJveAYukzU/v-deo.html
What happens if I cannot draw very well but I can do abstract pencil sketches and abstract digital art creating in a paint program and do abstract photography can I actually make money because I need to get some side cash to help pay rent
Hey Brian, yeah of course you can, I would maybes reccomend etsy depending on what your work looks like. There's a market for everything out there but it takes time, you just have to go for it! 😁
Hi what is the best website for me to make money selling my paintings???? I live on the Caribbean island called St Maarten and art work is hard selling it here
Hmmm it might be a challenge. I would personally recommend saatchiart as they handle couriers etc which would make your life easier. It also depends on the kind of work you make, maybe look into etsy too?
@@AnthonyCrammen that makes me sad. I remember your post about the art world and I get that totally. Pompous a holes for sure. But I think back to your pride and enthusiasm as you showed your art off in the gallery. You think outside the box. Don’t let the world force you back into it. At least tell me you do it for pleasure. I’ve seen a different side of you watching these historic posts. I like them both 😊
I don't really make my art anymore either lol. I basically chose to stop the art and focus on UA-cam, I would never be able to keep both going and working full time, it was wayyyy too much work.
You should be able to connect directly with artists on Artfinder with their messaging system (I'm no longer on there so it might have changed). I think you can on Etsy too. You can't on Saatchiart. Hope this helps!

I can do any. Just need more tips and inspiration again. I am Niqua10023. Plz help.
Hi Niqua, I think by today's standard there is an en expectaction to have some sort of visibility on social media and it isn't difficult to do, I'd definitely reccomend opening up an instagram account or something similar to start sharing your work!

No problem Elena, just to let you know I will be creating a follow up video to this as some things have changed since I recorded it. If i'm honest it's something i'm not great with either lol, I would say don't sell yourself too low and just be yourself really, I feel customers enjoy a more personal experience when they purchase from an artist, but you'll get use to gauging how to deal with different kinds of customers, some just want to buy and be on their way lol.
@@AnthonyCrammen thanks, i'll check your following video. if i'd just be myself i wouldn't start a conversation with customers. maybe i'd send a stereotyped message^^ but yeah you are right, if that is how i stay true to myself, then that's it, and everything else will evolve.
No problem Elena! New video should be done in a few weeks. Yeah exactly, over time things start to get easier but if you ever get stuck or anything then feel free to get in touch! 🙂
Saatchi is absolutely dead. I have been on for almost 2 years selling fine art photography and nothing. Not a sausage. Only the chosen few get exposure in the searches it's just no point trying anymore if you are a relative unknown. Plenty of likes and followers, but useless if you want to sell.
Not too sure on that one, suppose it depends on your budget and what kind of artwork you like. I'm an artist myself and not a collector so I would always recommend purchasing directly from the artist if you can (their own website etc) because for the most part you'll get a better deal (no middleman/comissions) and 100% of the money is going to the artist who made the work. What kind of artwork do you like? I might be able to steer you in the right direction.
@@AnthonyCrammen I am not an 'art collector' per say. My girlfriend and I are mainly looking for 3 pieces to accent our wall space at home. I guess we both like eclectic pieces
Ah ok, you could try Etsy? They have a huge collection of artwork and I'm sure there'll be something that suits your taste, It's usually quite reasonably priced too!
though you're heartwarmingly gentle, you are selling out by giving that 30% fee thats HUGE FEE!!! This is absolutely unfeasible for a developing business owner. Completely insensitive things like this, you should NOT sell out to as an artist.
Hello Anthony, I have some questions regarding applying to ArtFinder, I will be extremely happy if you can help me. 1.For the application process to ArtFinder I must give some examples of my online presence, but I the same time they wrote this: "Please note the websites of other online marketplaces are not acceptable". But in the section named "What does a good application look like" they wrote this: "please give us some details and provide links to your other online shops". Is so confusing. Question: is it or is not ok to write down like an example my Etsy address page? 2.The Etsy shop belongs to both of us, mine and my wife's, and also contains my and my wife's paintings. Will be a problem If a give this etsy web address that doesn't have my name, and only my art?? I know Artfinder can reject an application after 8 weeks of waiting, and don't give any explanation why. So I don't want to risk such a long time. I hope this will help many. Thank you again!

Did you have the same listings on Saatchi and Artfinder? Did you get more sales on Artfinder?
I used to yeah. I no longer use Artfinder as they became greedy but I used to sell more on Artfinder than Saatchi.
you are recomending something you do not know?
Who give shipping charges coustumer ,?
Very helpful!! Thank you :)
Try Artpal
Would u recommend shutterstock and what about artstation?
I have no experience with either unfortunately so I wouldn't be able to say! I'm sure there'll be some other reviews etc on UA-cam though!
Oooo i jus seed yer acrylic poors.... im jelly arse!
Good review. Thank you.
My work in SEATTLE .where shall I go ?
I went to ArtFinder and I search for digital art but I didn't see digital art in their category ?? I draw on iPad so is ther a way that i can sell it ?
Very good information
Does Saatchi Art add any sales tax, VAT etc, or make a deduction?
They just take off 35% for comission and if a customer uses a discount code then the comission will come from the discounted price and not the original price. Hope that helps!
sry i dont watch the entire video.
so do you need to prepared your print on demand as requested and shipping method, or the site take care it all for u after payment?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand, which site are you talking about?
@@AnthonyCrammen Thank you for the motivation! ^u^
No problem! 🙂
Stop kissing ass and then you’ll see the light
Thank you, very helpful video!
+Evgeniya Hitrova No problem! Glad I could help! 😁
Thank you this was helpful!
@@theteosaur6715 No problem! 🙂🙂
How much would u want for a character design?
10 dollars tops, if it’s a simple character ref sheet, 2 dollars. If it’s complicated and you want an anatomy design and clothing set, 7-10 dollars. But my parents are still talking about it and still haven’t decided if they want me selling shit,
Where the best way for sale oil/acrylic Paintings? Where more likely ti sale contemporary art...
thanksfor feed back
Hi Luis, no problem. You might be interest in my follow up video as things have changed since making this one. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/NnJveAYukzU/v-deo.html
What happens if I cannot draw very well
but I can do abstract pencil sketches and abstract digital art creating in a paint program
and do abstract photography
can I actually make money
because I need to get some side cash to help pay rent
Hey Brian, yeah of course you can, I would maybes reccomend etsy depending on what your work looks like. There's a market for everything out there but it takes time, you just have to go for it! 😁
this video was helpful
Glad I could help! 🙂
What is the brand of paint u use
I use all kinds. I'm super obsessed with these acrylic paints at the mo: ua-cam.com/video/w2lMn8vtMaA/v-deo.html
I thought artfinder sounded too good to be true and then you said they take 33% and thought, I was right.
Where do you sell your art nowadays
I don't sell my art anymore unfortunately. It's a long story that makes no sense lol
Hello, which website can i connect directly with an artist
You should be able to connect directly with artists on Artfinder with their messaging system (I'm no longer on there so it might have changed). I think you can on Etsy too. You can't on Saatchiart. Hope this helps!
@Fred Smith Hi Fred. You questioned connecting directly with an artist...are you seeking an artist to buy from? Please check out my art website. It is: www.glamchicartgallery.com
You will find landscape, abstract art and more for sale. At the top menu, click on "SHOP ART".
I am extremely professional, provide exceptional customer service and artwork that's "unmatched". Offering half off of my paintings and free shipping. Blessings to you! Let me know if I can be of additional help! Denise of Glam Chic Art Gallery.

No problem! Glad it helped. Just to let you know that VangoArt doesn't exsist anymore!
I love you Anthony I'm Ur biggest fan 😁😂❤️
Gunna have to make you a shirt lol!
@@AnthonyCrammen oooh it had to be a blue coloured one 😋
I'll try my best! 😅
I'm wanting to sell my work online. Are there sites where I can upload my work and people can buy my work without me having to deal with a physical copy? Just strictly them buying it and getting it immediately?
I'm not too sure about digital art sorry! Try having a google, I'm sure there'll be some sites out there!
Who's going to buy digital when they can just download your image for free!?
Where is Neil Buchanan,plz answer

Anthony i just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks! Welcome to the channel! 🙂
@@AnthonyCrammen your welcome!
Which type artworks have most chance to sold ?
Couldn't tell you! But I think paintings generally have an advantage to other mediums.
@@AnthonyCrammen thanks please check my message on Instagram 😀
👍🏻😃🤗🥰
Are these apps international? Artfinder is based on miami?
I think they are yes. Artfinder is based in London and New York I believe, but have customers and artists all over the world.
@@AnthonyCrammen ughhh i can't find any good international app for selling art.
@@yve8049 I'm pretty sure all of these sites are international!
Is that Artfinnder is better Than other websites????
Things have changed since I uploaded this video. I wouldn't recommend the site anymore. I no longer sell my artwork on Artfinder, but i'll be making a follow up video soon explaining things, vangoart has also closed since this video went up.
Thanx
No problem! 🙂
helpful.
thank you
how long does it take to sell a painting???
Depends where you sell it, how good it is and how much it is....
Do you still have work on artfinder?
I don't anymore no, I made a follow up video to this explaining why. If you're interested you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/NnJveAYukzU/v-deo.html
can u review free productivity apps like taskade.com? love to hear your tips
I been doing art and had many times to sell. Just get nervous......... I have many who’s know my characters and styles. It’s been so long now. So, I’m scared to do so? Since this is a newer generation. I’m need a bad spot sort of, of money. With a family. It’s hard. I have Deviant Art which I barely get on. And red bubble I think it’s called? Not into Facebook, Snapchat or this instagram stuff? I’m old school. But, maybe and sadly that is my ticket to getting customers again and attention of my work? I do digital and traditional art. I can do any. Just need more tips and inspiration again. I am Niqua10023. Plz help.
Hi Niqua, I think by today's standard there is an en expectaction to have some sort of visibility on social media and it isn't difficult to do, I'd definitely reccomend opening up an instagram account or something similar to start sharing your work!
thank you very much for this helpful video! maybe it's a strange question, but do you have any tips for conversations with customers? if someone would buy a piece of my stuff, i wouldn't know what to tell this person except "thanks" :D the whole self-marketing and networking stuff is really not one of my skills. so maybe you can help me ^.^
No problem Elena, just to let you know I will be creating a follow up video to this as some things have changed since I recorded it.
❤️👍
Creary.net is the best place to sell your art!!
Art is fun cuz I can do it semi good
Vangoart now appears to have been eaten by fineartamerica and certainly not a place to sell original art
So what is the best place to purchase art? Lol
Answer- None of them
though you're heartwarmingly gentle, you are selling out by giving that 30% fee thats HUGE FEE!!! This is absolutely unfeasible for a developing business owner. Completely insensitive things like this, you should NOT sell out to as an artist.
Hey Ryan, I am assuming your refering to the 30% comission that is paid to gallerys and sites etc?
Vangoart gone, shut down completely
proud of what?
