This video gave me the confidence to do the job. My car has 110,000 well over do. I couldn’t believe how easy it went. My brother paid over $300 at the dealership all I spent was $60. One important note to take and that is capture all the oil to measure what you capture then put in that amount in new oil.
There is supposed to be a plug on the side somewhere you can take out to make sure it's not overfilled. I've not done mine yet. I'm waiting for warmer weather, but supposedly, if you're not sure if you're at the correct level, you take it out and fill until it comes out that side hole.
Hi great video for transmission. Do you know what the 14 mm plug in front of the 24 mm transmission drain ( it's on same silver block) is that gear fluid Ie . Where is that filler plug Port
I have the same car as yours and the problem is when I accelerate it doesn't move forward I have to accelerate really high before it will pick the fourth gear but reverse do not have that problem it moves reverse smoothly
I never saw where you pour it. Did you pour it and where at? I can guesstimate where but I saw where you loosened something to drain it but where do you put it at?
@@jacket7712 okay thanks, that helps. I had it all removed and ready to do and decided to wait until the next day. Later that night I realized that my car stalling was after I got gas. I had my wife follow me to the gas station and added some premium fuel. The next day it didn't stall when slowing. When it first stalled cheap gas or fuel pump/filter problem was a gut feeling but I went with low Transmision fluid and hopefully not a torque problem thing. I worked on my own cars way back in the day but got this 2016 Elantra in 2015. I hadn't ever checked the transmission fluid. Just assumed it was looked at during oil changes. When I first went to find the dipstick, i couldn't. That's when I thought it must be the transmission fluid because I didn't even know there was no dipstick. Hope this comment helps someone else who has some stalling problems. Don't run the car low on fuel a lot or buy cheap gas a whole lot. It still may be transmission problems but it's running better now. And I don't know if that hit of premium helped overall but the stalling stopped and plan on not running low or buying 87 gas from that gas station anymore. But yes your video helped. I just wasn't sure if the place you pointed to was a cap that came off fully and you put a funnel directly in it. I'm sure if I got to that point I would have figured it out. the video got me all the way to that point, but I needed to buy fluid so i was going to wait and get my wife to drive me to work then pick the fluid up on the way home. Thats when the whole gas theory hit. Thanks for replying.
Your video is fine but it's a hyundia I wouldn't mess w the filter unless I had to like the guy below said. I have a 16 its the same 1.8 and I had mine changed at 59000 but im doing it again this summer I'm at almost 77000 now but you don't have to take that hose off. The way you're supposed to tell it's full is there's a little plug in the front of where you fill it. It comes off the same way the filler plug does and extends out and while you're pouring when it starts to drip out that little plug it's full. It doesn't come all the way out it just unscrews and pops out a little. Next time take a look down by the engine splash shield in the front of the box you will see it. You can actually see it with the car together. We'll just trying to be helpful and damn what happened to the days where you can check and fill by a dipstick?? I guess they think everyone is too stupid to figure it out so they can make money for doing next to nothing
I figured out the other plug after I was done. I looked into changing the filter and my personal opinion it's way to much work to get it out and change.I'm just going to make sure I keep some decent fluid in it and that works for me. Thanks for the comment. They don't make vehicles for normal people to work on anymore!
@Bill Burgess There's no dip stick I simply put in what I took out . I believe someone commented on here how to check it to make sure. I dumped it out in a container to measure it and added what I took out. All I did really was change out about half the fluid cause the rest would be in the torque converter. I found out the filter is impossible to change without taking the tranny out of the vehicle also.
@@jacket7712 I got the shop service manual, plan to do this myself shortly. It takes: Transaxle fluid SK ATF SP-Ⅳ, MICHANG ATF SP-Ⅳ, NOCA ATF SP-Ⅳ, Hyundai Genuine ATF SP-Ⅳ Corp. 7.3L (1.93 U.S gal., 7.71 U.S.qt., 6.42 Imp.qt.)

I truly made this video to help people out cause there was nothing really on it so I gathered some info from some forums. I don't claim that this is perfect in anyway just helpful im in no way a certified mechanic by any means shade tree at best. I picked the max life because I have used it for many different vehicles with no problems. It also says it's recommended on the jug for sp4. I haven't had any problems with it 40k miles later.
I’ve done my 2014 GT three times using Valvoline MaxLife ATF. Same stuff the OP shows in the vid. Not one adverse effect. It’s good stuff, meet’s Hyundai spec, fully synthetic, outstanding properties and additive package. It’s also relatively inexpensive. For those doing this for the first time the Hyundai service manual states the fluid level check is done with the vehicle engine running and the transmission fluid temp between 120-140 F. The reason you want the engine running is the torque converted will be filled. If you check it with the engine off the converter drains and the fluid level will be wrong.
You need read the manual. The plug at the top is the breather / filler The fluid level is correct when the plug ( open by rotating 180 degrees anti clockwise ) on the front side of the transmission is open ..the front side is a big black cover ..not metal The fluid should be between 50C -60C ) 10 min round the block from cold gets to about the right temp or check with $10 Ebay Odbc bluetooth tool) and the engine running with the transmission in park When fluid comes out the hole you opened on the front side it's the correct level You disconnected the transmission cooler line ...don't do that with the motor running ...!!!! @@victortaylor6721 I believe you are supposed to leave it on there I only removed the hose while the vehicle was off. If you read this comment it says to open the plug on the front and fill up until the fluid seeps out the front of the tranny where the other plug is located! I just did it the caveman way poured in the same amount I drained out.
Should’ve showed from you actually doing it all next time if you’re gonna make a video just make the video while you’re doing it if it’s any good then you do it but showing it after you’ve done it it’s hard to believe to make sure they do it right because you don’t wanna screw up your transmission it’s a costly mistake
