For some of Christine's most popular Fleetwood Mac hits that she wrote and sung on, you guys should check out, "You Make Loving Fun", "Say You Love Me", "Over My Head", "Don't Stop", "Hold Me", "Everywhere"
Tango in the Night was how I was introduced to FM, courtesy of my mother. Very nostalgic song. We were so spoiled growing up in the ‘80s with so much good music.
Christine had 3 solo albums and one with Lindsey Buckingham. McVie's second solo studio album, Christine McVie, recorded in 1984, included the hits "Got a Hold on Me"
Interesting tidbit: Little Lies is the *only* song on Tango in the Night where Stevie sings on any song that Lindsey and/or Christine wrote. Love this song!
Yes I believe they did Songbird but a lot of reactors focus on Stevie or think of her as if she was the leader. That’s like reacting to the Beatles and just focusing on one member. Interesting thing is that when Mick Fleetwood was recruiting Lindsay Buckingham, Mick wasn’t interested in Stevie joining but Lindsay insisted.
@@pjg58x In terms of the amount of songs they each wrote or sang lead on it's like covering the Beatles - skipping Lennon & McCartney and focusing on Harrison.
Like there song "Everywhere", it was everywhere. You couldn't get away from those two songs that year. Two big hits. R.I.P and thanks for the memories.
I know you probably haven't been ushered towards any of Lindsey's songs, but you're not alone in this ... MANY reactors seem to always overlook his songs, and they were every bit as popular (maybe even more so at the time) as Christine's or Stevie's. Songs like, (from the eponymous album, Fleetwood Mac), Monday Morning, Second Hand News, World Turning, I'm So Afraid, Crystal, Blue Letter were all incredibly awesome songs, as well as (from the Rumours album), Go Your Own Way, Second Hand News, Never Going Back Again, The Chain were all major hits of theirs, and all sung by Lindsey. He also did songs like Big Love (from Tango In The Night) which was very popular. However, his voice is so unique that it's hard to pair it with his face, so I think this is why people just don't focus on it (it doesn't seem like he would be able to make those sounds). Anyway, he wrote, rearranged and directed most of their hits, which included Stevie hits, turning them from something the band didn't want to do into major hits for her and the band. This also doesn't cover the MANY songs where he was co-lead singer, where multiple voices did the job at the same time. I think you NEED to delve into his catalog, especially the songs mentioned above, because, if you don't, you're seriously curtailing your listen experience and musical knowledge. Lindsey was phenomenal, as you have noticed when reacting to his solo work. Let's just make this clear, Lindsey was RESPONSIBLE for the resurrection of what was Fleetwood Mac. He BROUGHT Stevie WITH him into the group when he was asked to join ... in fact, he insisted they do so before he would agree to commit. He sculpted their (and her) careers ... he was a musical genius ... and NEVER played with a pick.
@@kenarmstrong2192 Yeah, a favorite of mine, but I think that might be the solo work they reacted to. Oddly enough, the video featured the likes of Mick Fleetwood, Walter Egan (Magnet and Steel), Bob Weston (FM guitarist, 1972-1973) and Bob Welch (FM guitarist & lead vocalist, 1971-1974).
@@kenarmstrong2192 I just had another thought ... I love his song (and theme to the original Vacation movie), Holiday Road (ruff ruff, ruff, ruff ruff, ruff) 😊🤣😂🤣👍.
This is one of the few FM songs where you can hear the three distinct vocalists individually, and in harmonies. Sad song about Christine accepting a cheater in her life.
It's not a song about cheating or a romantic partner. Christine said it was about Lindsey leaving the band. She knew he was leaving even as they were making the album (the rest of the band was barely there) was but she wanted him to tell her lies and to believe he was staying. She said she liked writing songs disguised as love songs and love songs disguised as non love songs.
At the time, this video would officially be Lindsey Buckingham's final appearance with the band until Bill Clinton's inauguration in January of 1993. They officially reunited in 1997 for a live album /concert, "The Dance." Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were members in John Mayall's Blues Breakers. When Eric Clapton departed the band mid-1966 to form Cream with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, 18 y.o. guitar prodigy Peter Green, who had temporarily filled in for Clapton on some gigs, joined full-time. In '67 Green, dissatisfied with the band's musical direction, left to form his own blues band. He persuaded Fleetwood and McVie, who had been "let go" for repeated drunkeness during performances, to join him. It was Green who decided that his new band should be named for its rhythm section, and so "Fleetwood Mac" was born.
Having two incredible talented women who could sing and write in a band together could have been such a source of competition or friction. But their individual talents were unique but also blended together in an amazing way. From what I understand from interviews, they were not necessarily best friends, maybe more like sisters and were beautifully supportive of each other in and out of the band.
Great reaction!! This was as true to FM as ever...just in the 80's! Christine's vocals and songwriting was ALWAYS superb...and this song is no exception! I distinctly remember my sister getting this cassette in 1987, and I immediately fell in love with all of it!! Christine has another track on there called Isn't It Midnight, and it's incredible too! Seven Wonders, Everywhere (another Christine track), Big Love AND the title track, Tango In The Night are all essential listens! RIP to our songbird, Christine McVie!
RIP Christine McVie 😢. I have been a fan of this group since 1967. When Peter Green started the group, through all their various stages. Since Christine joined around 1971 I have been a particular fan of hers. I remember her when she had her own group ‘Chicken Shack’ and she had a hit with ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. around 1969.
I recommend you a Spanish singer her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdón" she is a singer that transmits a lot when she sings and has incredible melismas. She is also very versatile when it comes to singing. She sings different musical styles. Best regards
Played once or twice on the radio at the time.....once or twice, here and there for years. The first 3 notes was all it took to know what was playing. Mac had staying power.
Lindsey Buckingham is also a lead vocalist. In fact, he as well as Christine McVie has written and sung more hit songs for Fleetwood Mac than Stevie Nicks.
Always love when Christine is the lead vocal, she has great harmonies with Stevie and excellent on her own. This was a good time for FM, they were together and in good personal places and while it was a departure from the early FM it was just good to have them together. Excuse me, I've got something in my eye thinking about Christine.
They were completely fractured at this point. Mick, John and Stevie were heavy into their addictions and barely contributed to the album when they bothered to show up and as a consequence the recording of the album dragged on for 17 months. Buckingham had to roll his 3rd solo album into Tango and produce it to help Mick out of bankruptcy. Buckingham called it the worst recording experience of his life and left the band because he couldn't imagine spending a year on tour with them. Christine wrote Little Lies about Lindsey - knowing he was going to leave.
This song (Indeed the entire album) will forever be associated in my head with a journey to a football match here in the UK. 2 hired cars travelling from Swindon to Newcastle 1988 and as we only had a couple of good cassettes between us, the Rumours tape (As well as some bottles of beer) was passed from car to car as we drove close to each other at speeds of around 65-70 mph on long straight stretches of road (Old Roman roads actually) which were thankfully quiet enough to do it as traffic was in both directions, we didn't use motorways on that journey. In all honesty, no band can hope for longevity without being able to grow, change and explore. Plus, many songs by bands that write their own material reflect what was going on with their own lives at that moment.
Yes, it sticks in your head. And yes elements are extremely "catchy". Christine was affectionately known as "the queen of hooks" meaning she generated melodic phrases that "hook" the listener - in a good way of course. And two corrections: 1) the band always had Mick Fleetwood (drummer) and John McVie (bass) - hence the band's name; but the early incarnation did not have Stevie or Lindsey. Peter Green was songwriter and guitarist in the early days, and I believe Christine came aboard somewhat later. It was then mid 1970's that Stevie and Lindsey joined and the music changed significantly then. Older Fleetwood Mac is entirely different than the Stevie/Lindsey era. Stevie’s voice sounds like she smokes 3 packs of Marlboros and drinks a fifth of Jack Daniels a day. Btw, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham wrote and sang more of Fleetwood Mac’s songs (including hits) than anyone else in Fleetwood Mac and it’s really not very close.
you recognise the decade from the hair style - it goes like this: - 1970s = no hairdressers found on the planet - hair grew and grew - 1980s = only 1 hairdresser found on the planet - hair had same style anywhere - 1990s = only 1 hairdresser found on the planet but all he knows is shaving the whole cranium - 2000s to today= only 1 hairdresser found on the planet - but he can't trim the beards - so we all look like terrorists with messy long beards (perhaps we believe we look more manly if we look like those neurotic middle-eastern assassins)

Check out Mick Fleetwood's solo songs
❤❤❤
Chrissie had the better voice. Stevie's voice was distinctive. Their bass player (John McVie) was an awesome bass player too.
Please react to Patricia Paay- Who's That Lady With My Man
Love Stevie’s haunting voice singing “ tell me lies “ 😊.
You mean, Christie's?
Christie sang this song.
🐐 🐐 🐐
I don' t think you ever did the very first incarnation of the band, which was the blues.
You need to react to muse awesome band
I like Lindsey Buckingham in this video, he has the psychotic facial and eye expressions going on..!
OH DADDY.
Reaction the chain live 1987 🎉
Stevie’s voice sounds like she smokes 3 packs of Marlboros and drinks a fifth of Jack Daniels a day. Btw, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham wrote and sang more of Fleetwood Mac’s songs (including hits) than anyone else in Fleetwood Mac and it’s really not very close.
Slip of the year: (Paul McCartney): "That's why he's remained irrelevant to this day..." 🤣🤣🤣👍💯
christine was married to the bass player and stevie was with the guitar player they both had cheated with the drummer made for some great songs
you recognise the decade from the hair style - it goes like this:
- 1970s = no hairdressers found on the planet - hair grew and grew
- 1980s = only 1 hairdresser found on the planet - hair had same style anywhere
- 1990s = only 1 hairdresser found on the planet but all he knows is shaving the whole cranium
- 2000s to today= only 1 hairdresser found on the planet - but he can't trim the beards - so we all look like terrorists with messy long beards
(perhaps we believe we look more manly if we look like those neurotic middle-eastern assassins)
Duh, sounds like Christine McVie and The Mac no matter how you look at it, young'uns. The rabbit hole of the Mac is long and complex.
