Finally reaching the shores of the UK, I've had a chance to check this one out at last! Bonkers! - Connor

Madam Swine teaches her... that? Well, appropriate name, if that is the case.

Finally checked this out prior to the Oscars, it's such a bizarre film to experience, however it was fascinating to watch, and a visual marvel. You could pause any frame in the movie and find so much detail.

So I need you to take a map and get some pins and string. First, find out where Wes Anderson is on the map and put a pin down, then, find out where Lars Von Trier is and put a pin there. Then connect the pins with a string and find the exact center point. Put another pin down there.
Wherever that pin is, that's where in the world you can find Yorgos Lanthimos. He's the exact center between those 2.

I was hooked almost from the first frame. Genius work! Creative and inspirational in a way that makes me want to see more imaginative films like this being produced. I've also found that the people who dislike it are the exact kinds of people that this film, and Bella's journey, rails against. It's fine to not like something... that's art... but when people come at this film with such anger it's really an indictment of them, and they don't even know it. This immediately went on my list of the top 20 greatest films of all time.

Loved Poor Things at the cinema. All characters were brilliantly portrayed and added to the story, but especially Emily Stone, who really excelled. She deserved her Oscar, Golden Globe, and everything else she wins in the next few months.

“I am a flawed, experimenting person" says Bella of her life. In fact, this is the best description of "edgy" director Lanthimos' film which promises to be a cult classic! Artistically flawless, the "edgy" director has Bella develop and mature via "furious jumpings" inside many bedrooms--enough to satisfy any Happy Hooker or any viewer of an Amsterdam brothel's window. Unfortunately, the real story of Bella was happening outside the bedrooms, and the film fails miserably in its mechanistic, heartless view of this child-woman and pseudo-visionary but empty corridors of its theme. Yorgos should have stuck with "Dogtooth"-type themes, stories to tell of which he has a much better understanding and insight than the mechanistic sexual development of a child's brain in her mother's resurrected body. Poor parenting must be one of his fetishes!

It was very good! Maybe not for the Marvel and Transformers crowd though.

I was excited for this movie and I left DISAPPOINTED. The whole time I was like “THAT’S A CHILD”. I do not care for the sexual scenes, but they felt unnecessary and even boring. I know they say it is like the “feminist” version of Frankenstein, but it was already a feminist story, HECK, WRITTEN BY A WOMAN. Disappointed, really. Also, from such a fall, she had to have several injuries. But no, she looked perfect.

I was very excited for this, and it left me completely cold. I think I’m done washing my time with his films.
