- The 2017 Tour de France starts for the 1st time from Düsseldorf in Germany.
From Saturday 1st of July to Sunday 23rd of July 2017, the 104th Tour de France includes 21 stages for a total length of 3 521 kilometers.
DEMARE Arnaud (FDJ) won the stage in Vittel before KRISTOFF Alexander (TEAM KATUSHA ALPECIN) and GREIPEL André (LOTTO SOUDAL).
THOMAS Geraint (TEAM SKY) is the Yellow Jersey.

Why is no one talking about how Demare is actually the one who started the chain reaction? Demare cuts left (3 riders total in just over a second), Sagan adjusts to the right with Cavendish bouncing off Sagan's right side. And the elbow... Look at 2:03 - Cavendish has already run into Sagan (bike leaning over, right foot unclipping) and his front wheel is flush with Sagan's (Front wheels inches apart). lastinline bruce pointed out that it's Cavendish's left brake lever that hits Sagan's forearm and hooks his arm and elbow forward and out. Cavendish was falling before the "elbow came out"....Demare should be the one DQ'd!!!!! Watch @ 2:04, Bouhanni stops sprint and sticks left leg out as Demare continues to cut across and clip his front wheel! Amazing that Bouhanni kept upright. Total BS by the organizers. Probably one of the quickest DQ's despite everyone else saying they'd be reviewing footage all night. Bouhanni should speak up about Demare but probably won't now that Sagan is out of the way.

Sagans DQ is just wrong. Even Greipel retook his statement and apologized to Sagan after having seen a video of the incident.
why 'even' Greipel? I think Greipel is a good sport, and that's me saying it with a natural disliking of germans. I think,. like Greipel, no sprinter wants to be subjected to the flashy and incompetent ordeal of a jury or commission. I think it's time for Cavendish and his team to give a fair report of what happened here. I think it won't happen because Cavendish is a prick. Of course I do hope I will stand corrected.
Ohh sorry I didn't mean to come off harsh against Greipel. I was just taking him as an example because he seemed to be very angry with Sagan directly after the race.

careful analysis of the footage and is clear that the falling Cav's bike that pulls Sagan's arm. These two movements are sincronized.

It wasn't Sagan's elbow that did it. If you watch closely you can see Cav's wheel turn TOWARDS Sagan. It looks like Cav's left brake hood got caught beneath Sagan's arm. Since they were already pressed together, this change of direction threw Cav into the barrier.

Cav bracing for impact at 2:02 , he knows exactly what he is doing. Sagans elbow was unecessary but Cav leaning into Sagan is what initiates and makes him fall
it was necessary...Sagans elbow was stuck around Cavs brake lever..he would have fallen if he didnt do that
If you watch footage from overhead, Sagan was half a bike in front of Cav and didn't know he was there until contact was made. It was unintentional. DQ is too much.
Like Cavendish said after he took out Simon Gerrens in 2014 "that's racing" Sagan needs to be re instated immediately this is a joke!
Watch DeMare (blue top, red bottom) cut across in front of Saga changing lanes after the start of the sprint. Cavendish lays on Sagan (contact) before any elbow movement.
Because this the only possible way to took green jersey from Sagan

Cav try to AVOID CONTACT WITH SPECTATORS on the barrier (look at the black part) ended up he's hitting Sagan.
There's literally one rule for sprints. Don't alter your line once you started sprinting. Cavendish caused this crash broh

Can't say how many countless times I have seen Cavendish 's elbow come out at a sprint to the finish. Cav clearly was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He took a gamble and lost. To blame Sagan and to kick him out is the kiss of death. I am done with TDF
Please, you can see how Cavandish lost a balance on canal.
Based on the video from the front Cavendish is already trying to take his right shoe out of the pedal when Sagan flicks the elbow. As far as the line, what Sagan did wasn't any worse than Demare's diagonal move. The commentators, Greipel, and rest of the jury should have just slept on it and cooled off before passing judgments. Now they all look like a bunch of asses.

The herd has pronounced from just two camera angles while the officials have this and much more at their disposal. Much as you wanna suck on Sagan it is Sagan's fault. Look carefully, Cav's front wheel is marginally ahead but it is Sagan's forward position on the bike that gives the impression Cav is behind. This is deliberate to obstruct Cav. The latterly extended elbow is the aftermath of the force he has exerted in pushing Cav to the side. . Sagan rightly penalized.

No way cav was out of contention for the stage left the spirit to late. Anyway if you watch the slow mo replays Sagan's elbow/arm doesn't touch cav. He his sagan's leg trying to pass through a gap that was too small to fit though. Sagan should still be in the tour
True! and Sagan's left leg was reaching out too! This show it was a balancing move.
it wasn't his elbow, it was his shoulder that made contact, then moved his elbow for balance(and didn't touch cav), it was totally not on purpose though, punishment seem to hard.
Cav wasn't going to win anything, he was going into Sagan's shoulder and leg. The only thing Sagan did was riding towards the right and stabilizing himself after Cav rode into him. The only two outcomes were this one or that both of them crashed. It looks like Sagan punched Cav in full speed, but frame by frame footage supports Sagan's story.
Brian Kent credit to the race organisers though, Sagan has been DQed.

I know it looks like Sagan punched Cavendish, but if you look at the footage frame by frame, he clearly just stabilized himself after Cavendish rode into him. It wasn't unfair or criminal, just self-defense.

Terrible cut of the footage. With such an important incident you should show before and after and the helicopter angle. Except then you would also have to disqualify Demare, and he is French...

I just lost interest in this years race. Cavendish should have went to the judge panel and took peters side. You know good and dam well when you see in slow motion there was no room for cav. He caused this accident and its shows he has no class in him not admitting accident. Peter is a classy guy. This is a disgrace. Maybe they want someone else to win the green and this gave them a window.
