    I currently have it and I am THE HAPPIEST. I traded in my '19 Subaru Outback for this and the CX50 is just more fun to drive, more engaging, and POWERFUL! Tech loaded and I just have a lot of positives to say. Sure it is smaller than my old one interior wise but wasn't that bad.

    Every car reviewer brings their own sensibilities and preferences, and your reviewers seem to hit the mark for to day-to-day use commuters. Some of the other reviewers are gearheads or performance afficionados who have to stretch to imagine what regular people want in their cars. I'm all for advancements in engineering and a zippy ride, but for a car like this, the review needs to address the intended buyers of this vehicle. Well done.

      I agree, I’ve been looking at the CX-50 as my wife and I are planning to move to Wyoming. The area we are looking at is very remote and would require AWD on bad weather conditions. I have zero interest in taking this thing off-roading for fun.

    I would have never stopped almost 85% of the way up a hill. I wouldn’t want to have been stuck like what almost happened. This is a nice suv overall! No Jeep but capable for sure! Mazda knows what they’re doing. It’s a joy everyday to drive my Mazda!

      But that's the true test of how good the AWD system is. A FWD can make a run for it. Sadly, this was more of a tire test in this video due to the wrong tires for the terrain.

      It won’t sell. Mazda has maximally 15-20 years before they pull out of Europe. Honda is still sticking around because it has money, their motorcycles are selling well and it doesn’t want to be the first to give up on Europe and is waiting on Mazda, Mazda doesn’t have the money to prolongate this.

    • @guattodaddo
      @guattodaddo 2 роки тому +3

      I don’t think so, Honda has the money yes (for now though) but they’re selling cars people don’t really appreciate nowadays. Of course in the US is different, but recently I saw much more Mazdas rather than hondas. In particular the cx30 sold like crazy where I live, I see one or two around almost every day, Honda civics? Nope! Honda is going strong with CR-V, which is a great car, but that’s it basically. Germans cars are still the top picks of my people, but man Mazda is doing really good while Honda is going down. Toyota is on a whole another level, they’re the ones with the big money!

    Even as a Mazda fanboy, I find it so strange they chose high profile 20s for the wheels. Granted, the Meridian edition coming out later this year will come with smaller 18s among other rugged upgrades, but it's an odd choice even for the base vehicle.

    Am noticing on inventory search on KBB that every non-turbo CX-50 being shipped now is at around $38,000 MSRP. The Turbo cars are $5,000 to $10,000 higher. This gives you the Premium Plus trim, which is fully loaded. The average CX-5 or Subaru Forester is much less expensive. So it looks like they are definitely going after the Outback with Limited or Touring trim in this market of tight supply.

    I test drove the CX-50 and my first pass thoughts were that I liked the car. But here’s some things that I wish they offered. A V6 Gas engine, or offer the 4 Cylinder Turbo engine as a one price add on option for some of the lower trim levels. The regular engine is lagging and a little loud when accelerating, and the Turbo trim gets pricey. Since Mazda’s interiors are mainly dark and I wish they offered the lighter upper interiors to lighten up the inside of the car. And if you like to rest your arm on the window ledge, you can’t because it’s a bit too high.

      Two things that are a deal breaker for you are the epitome of a premium brand. Dial gives options besides the touchscreen and premium fuel is always better, even for engines which don’t need it.
      Mazda isn’t a premium brand. Using thin (compared to other brands) barely padded leather and barely working safety systems or terrible headlights just to say they have LEDs is all marketing. These are delusions of being a premium brand.

    Nice! but just another suv to blend in the sea of suvs. Why would i buy this over a toyota, kia or hyndai? Driving dynamics? you can't defy physics with an suv..put a hybrid under the hood for it to stand out.

    So does it have that rear torsion beam suspension that gives the CX5 such a terrible back seat ride?

      Both the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX 50 are built at the same plant in Mobile AL they do not share any parts. The production plant is split in Two one side is Mazda the other side is Toyota, they each have their own assembly line. This is stated by both Toyota and Mazda. So Idiots like yourself need to do A little research such as a 15 second google search before spewing your trash.

    What always gets me is the low resale value that Mazdas suffer from. They depreciate like crazy even though the new models (2015+) rank very well in reliability scores. Guess brand recognition really is important because Honda, Toyota, and even Subaru outrank Mazda despite Mazda's increasing reliability nowadays

      I agree. It is sad but after five years I do find the price stabilizes with the others in my area. That’s about the time the Hondas and Subaru are not worth purchasing on the used market.

      The non Turbo models have cylinder deactivation. Works on 2 cylinders at speeds up to 40mph to save fuel. All the Turbo models have iStop. If you press the brake and hold it, the engine will shut off and start again once released. The iStop button will turn it off, but only for the duration of the vehicle time on.
