This was my first rally on my own scooter , a brand new vespa px 125 , never forget your first rally do you , dexys no1 in the charts ' cone in eilien ' every pub packed to the rafters , love it
At 2:03 minutes this video shows a group parked up in Station Road opposite the Central Hotel, where as a youth, I worked behind the bar during this very rally. Never worked so hard in my life. Standing room only, the place filled to the brim with wall-to-wall scooter riders. Must have been ten deep at the bar. I think everyone who worked at that place was working, whether it was their shift or not, just to keep up with demand. Plastic pint glasses, of course (I remember the manager, Alan doing a mercy dash to the cash & carry to buy a truckload of them the day before the event). I was bloody knackered at the end of the weekend!
I remember this. I was just a kid, (15) and it was like the biggest thing to happen in Colwyn Bay since Dinosaur World opened in Eirias Park. Sad really how this dominated the conversation of a thousand Colwyn Bay schoolkids for a whole year after it happened, lol. Remember when The Warriors was shown TV and after that everywhere you went there were Warrior signs spray painted all over the place... Now I'm wibbling, aren't I?
Thanks for sharing, golding days
Came down from Carlisle for this on an old Vespa Rally Electronic 200 I had back then. Happy days indeed.

@martypom406 Yes it's March of the Mods but it's crap! This footage deserves better tunes!
I've got a lot of time for mods, Dave john beer mark Spitz Chris Jones, would let me ride with them even though I was on a trail bike.
Had a Vespa 50 at 16. Got an XL 125 at 17 but still jumped about with ma scooter buds 😎
Looking back in them early 80s i am a bit embarrased i was a punk but i`d have been more embarrased if i was a mod
Remember it well got arrested for carrying a baseball bat

Shame about that music. Are Mods a Benny Hill joke 🙄
