Result. Can't believe you captured this on film! Long time ago. I was in the newly formed Tamar Valley SC (formerly Aliens SC). Nine of us left Cornwall on the Friday morning and only 3 got back on the Monday evening after a few nights kipping (not!) in the pier allnighter. One guy even sold his seat to get petrol and rode for 13 hours sitting on a tent strapped over his tank. Think it was our longest run and I've never walked properly since. Thanks for the posting.
Thanks for the flashback. I remember it well the dancing on the pier the bikes the girls, and the occasional fights. No I was not a scooter lad I worked on frontierland or was it still called the pleasure park I don`t remember. But I did look forward to the scooter weekends they brought the town alive. We do still have scooters coming in for the odd weekend but nothing like the three to four thousand we had then. Thanks again.
It was a brilliant rally. Best time of my life early 80's when ALL my mates had scooter. But its coming back . I' getting 1 in next week or 2 and some old mates have got them already roll on the summer . I'm 47 now and want to relive my youth :-)
I was there!, 6 of us on 3 PX125's left East Calder at 4am Saturday morning, met some guy and his bird from the dundee star's n stripes en route, he had a black P2 with the who maximum RnB on the side panels about a dozen yellow spot lamps and more mirror's than a posh hairdressers. Had a great time, I'd never seen so many scooters before or arguably since. Passed my test at the end of 84 and got a second hand Jet 200. Haven't done the scooter thing for a wee while but I've still got a scooter.
They should be allowed back in morecambe again - i remember seeing bikes side by side walking from Heysham to Happymount - Amazing paintjobs , Beautiful people . . .
Taxi driver knocked me off my white GP on this rally on the prom...7 stiches where my key hit my shin when I somersalted over his bonnet...Front links were bent so the wheel was nearly touching the fork...I drove it back to Notts over Snake Pass at an 80 degree angle to keep it upright...When I got home my mate bent it back with his Dr.Marten and it was perfect again...Taxis insurance didn't pay out
i broke my pitoni exhaust on that camp site, i had to ride home with nothing more than a downpipe good to see old vids like this, thanks for the upload
which fairground? don't forget Morecambe still had the little fair at the back of the Winter Gardens back then as well as the big fair which later became Frontierland!
real scooter rally; i feel old now was it really 1984 was 21yrs old.. cant believe our scoots made it to morcambe, n scarborough.... campsite was rough though
It was Easter weekend and amazing weather, ended up in a b&b full of skins and punks, the owner even got a guy out of bed so we could have his room but what a great weekend and great years :)
If memory serves, I went to this one as "support vehicle" (a Reliant Regal 3 wheeler!) for our club The Spunk Bubbles S.C. from Canterbury. Some twat burned down the toilets on the first night, and I seem to remember a mini whirlwind wiping out some of the tents down in the "bowl" on the campsite! Jesus! happy days!
I'm probably the odd man out here as I was a biker-punk at the time but that was pretty cool watching this video. Hard to believe it was 25 years ago that all this stuff was going on - shame that most kids these days aspire to a PS3 or a Citroen Saxo... Riding, fucking and fighting was where it was at! Keep 'em coming!
I was there from Reading, got seriously hammered and slept in the public fish market. Still managed to get home in time for last orders.
