- Niigata Japan in summer! This time we visited Niigata prefecture, just 2 hours by shinkansen from Tokyo station and stayed at a wonderful Japanese Ryokan that has an indoor heated pool and private onsen overlooking Niigata's stunning rice fields!

Niigata prefecture is very easy to reach from Tokyo. It's only about 2 hours by the bullet train (shinkansen), no transfer, from Tokyo Station to Niigata station. From Niigata station, take a local train for 20 minutes to Toyosaka station, the closest station to Tsukioka Onsen. From there, the hotel provides free shuttle bus from Toyosaka station to the hotel. The shuttle bus takes another 20 minutes.
This time we stayed at Niigata Tsukioka Onsen Shiratama No Yu Kaho Hotel/Ryokan. Our stay was last year, 2023. This is by far the biggest ryokan that we've ever been to in Japan. They have both public onsen and private outdoor onsen. Some rooms have onsen bath too, like the one we stayed at. It was hot in Niigata in the summer time! But the Onsen was still so relaxing. We got an outdoor hot spring bath overlooking beautiful rice fields! which was exactly what we were looking for! The hotel also has an indoor heated pool which our son loved! But the most outstanding point was their foods! SASHIMI, wagyu steak and shabu-shabu was absolutely AMAZING! Both quality and quantity! 👍👍

You can buy a bullet train ticket online at EKI-NET (JR Official Reservation Site) or at ticket vending machines at JR stations.

What a dinner experience!! Nice..I was at Sado Island last August and I remember I pass by Niigata where I took the ship going to the island..if only I knew that place..I missed it.
Yeah dinner was incredible! we had a really wonderful time at this ryokan! how was Sado island? I haven't been there. Niigata was fun and is totally different with life in Tokyo. We love Niigata and hope to visit it again during the winter time^^

The whole video was very clear and well done. However, the part where you showed the room, it would be less distracting if the music was not so monotonous and repetitive. However, the jazz music during dinner and after was fine. As a music professional, that’s just a suggestion.

Hi, you can get a Welcome Suica card for kids at JR Travel Service centers at the airport or at some major stations in town like Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku station... I'm not sure about the maximum withdrawal amount at the ATMs. but 1,000usd should be ok...
