I've seen a few videos about the village but this is the first with such detailed information about how to travel. This is going to b very helpful for my upcoming trip. Thank you 🙏
Another useful ìnfo on the beautiful village in Shirakawa-go indeed 🌼 As always, thank you for your hard work on the informative video 🙏 Have a wonderful weekend🌹
Hi, I’m excited to see Shirakawago when I get back and thank you so much for this video. Instead of taking the train, I think domestic flight from Haneda would be cheaper? But what is the nearest airport to Shirakawago? Thank you so much.
Thank you so so so very much.. You don't know how helpful this video was for planning this part of my trip to Japan as I was really confused how to do it before.. I still have many many questions that I hope I can find answers to watching your videos.. Thank you again.. I will be coming from Fukuoka after watching the Sumo tournament in November as I am a big Sumo fan.. I will go to Kanazawa by JR train with the JR Pass then take the bus.. Cheers
Thanks for teaching about Gokayama! Everybody talks about Shirakawa-go. It's like Gokayama is to Shirakawa-go as Kanazawa is to Kyōtō. The entrance to Kanazawa Station is quite remarkable architecture, too!
yes, that is correct. that bus is a local one so you don't need to buy a ticket before get on the bus. Just wait at the bus stop, get on the bus, get a ticket at a machine on the bus, then pay cash to the driver when you get off.
@@ONEGOODDREAM Just a few questions, in case you can help me. It seems that SUICA-type cards can not be used. Right, only online reservations? Can you tell me more about how to get the ticket at the bus stop in Gokayama to Shikarawa-go? I see that you got a ticket when you got in, and paid when you left the bus. Can't you pay it when you hop in? Thanks in advance : )
@@RenatoRibeiro-ye2nq hi, for the bus from Gokayama to Shirakawago, you don't need to buy a ticket in advance because it's a local bus. you just come to the bus stop and get on the bus. when you get on the bus, you need to pick up a ticket at the entrance on the bus (that's the "ticket" you saw me holding in the video) and when you get off, you put that ticket into the box by the bus driver, and pay cash there too. (btw this is how it works for all the local buses, in case you take a bus in Japan) hope this helps..
your explanations are so detailed (thank you so much!) that you even advise to use the toilet in the train as the station one is crowded. I appreciate your tip :) as I do not like crowded toilet. Btw, how many hours you spent at the village? Thank you...done subscribe!
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 toilets are big deals to me so I tend to pay attention to them :) I think we spent about 3 hours in Gokayama, since we sat down for lunch and cafe, slow travel, really took time to enjoy Gokayama. We spent more time in Shirakawago because it's bigger, and more crowded too.
Thank you for this video! this really helped me plan my first trip in April! one question: if im using the Hokuriku Arch Pass would it be better to go to Shirakawa-go from Kanazawa or would it be better to stop in Johana station and taking a bus from there?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 personally I'd go to Shirakawa-go from Kanazawa. that's only 1 transfer from the shinkansen to the bus. I think the bus is not included in that pass. you need to purchase the bus ticket.
Hi, I am interested to explore both Gokayama and Shirakawa-go, but am afraid if the bus connecting both would take too long? Are there many buses connecting this two places, what's the waiting time, and also the average costs. Thank you
Hi, there are not many buses connecting the 2 places, about one every hour or less, depending on time. it takes about less than 40 min from Suganuma bus station in Gokayama to Shirakawago bus station and the cost is 870 yen/adult. no reservation is required for this bus. here's the bus website: www.kaetsunou.co.jp/ol/regular/sekaiisan.html Gokayama was so peaceful and not crowded. I highly recommend it :)
here's where we stayed at in Shirakawago: ua-cam.com/video/uLjVGJWW42A/v-deo.html I think it was about 20,000yen/person/night, dinner and breakfast included.
we spent the night at a Japanese hotel (Ryokan) called Onyado Yuinosho. it's not located at a location walkable to the village, but they have the hotel free shuttle buses to bring guests to the bus station in town. absolutely loved the hotel and the foods! if it's not too cold, I'd also love to stay somewhere within the village, just so I can have a early morning walk around before it gets crowded ^^
You can go there all the way by bus. From Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, buy bus ticket to Takayama for 7k Yen. Then from Takayama, buy bus ticket to Shirakawago. All the bus ticket can be bought online too
I embarrassingly tell you that we missed the day trip to Kyoto from Osaka. We went to the meeting point but no one knew where it is. We showed the address and all but didn’t make it.
I wanted to thank you for sharing this useful video. I watched it many times in preparation for a vacation to Japan. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 I'm so glad it could be of some help. happy planning!^^

If I understand correctly, when you go from Gokayama to Shirakawa-go, you get on the bus and get a ticket, then you pay on cash after you get down?

Hi what camera were you using and video editing program?
Hi I used Sony zv-e1 with the 11mm f1.8 lens and edit on Final Cut Pro.

Where do you buy the tickets for the bus? Is it covered by jr rail pass ?

Very informative, very tempting destination though a bit far from the main cities

What about from Toyama .?
i need to know how to get there from Matsumoto :c

One thing that I kept wondering while I was there was where are all the villagers living there? I only see tourists.
