In this video we take our Midland Mobile radio and mount it in an ammo can so we can move it from vehicle to vehicle or use it as a base station.

Excellent Video!! My Next Radio is this one. Should work very well for my area in South Carolina. Thanks for the review.
Glade you enjoyed the video. Thanks for commenting.
Just got the nayoga UT-72G with the magnetic mount. Thing is CRYSTAL clear with my radiodiddy db25-G. Mounted to the side of an ammo can with a motorcycle battery and tender packed in there. A couple more radios then the antenna sticks to the metal ammo can or I route it to my trunk. Loving it.
Sweet, sounds like a nice setup. Thanks for commenting.
Midland made two forms of ammo can radio stations though they are sold out now and Midland is not sure they will continue making them. The chief disadvantage is weight since they are real ammo cans. Apparently the Midland 50W cannot be powered by a cigarette lighter. I think the idea of a transportable base station should have a following. Thanks for doing this and I look forward to a future video where you try it out in the field.
😅😅😅😅
I don’t know the body a little tight in Ammo can.
May need to triple the size!!!
Of that Ammo can
Only playing .
Thanks for the comment. LOL
Nice! I'm trying to decide which route to go in my jeep. Was thinking just grab some portable units but now seeing that i like it. I have a TJ too👍. I love my TJ. Great video man. I'm a new subscriber.
Thank you!!! I did some testing last night with some friends and although the antenna that comes with that radio is decent I think I’m gonna be upgrading to a ghost style 3db gain mag mount antenna. We were able to do 6 miles easily with this set up and them using portable radios.
@@paulethier3416 That's awesome! That'd be plenty for me.
Yes I feel like it’s going to work great for me to. Plus no batteries.
On the jk I would put a steel plate down with the same auto grade double sided tape on top
