    From Triumph:
    The new Tiger 800 range has been built to excel. Featuring a host of rider focused technology such as the standard fitment of Triumph Traction Control and switchable ABS, the new Tiger with its powerful and more fuel efficient 95PS triple engine is up for any task.
    Delivering a seamless flow of torque across the rev range, the Tiger 800 is as perfectly suited to long distance rides as it is to tackling the tough stuff. The second generation 800cc engine now features a ride-by-wire throttle system which provides smoother power delivery, better response, and lower emissions. The result is a 17% improvement in fuel efficiency that coupled with the capacious 19l fuel tank means you can ride longer.
    Available in two different flavours, the touring focused XR range (XR / XRx / XRT) and the off-road biased XC range, (XC / XCx / XCA) there is a Tiger 800 to suit everyone.

    To all you haters. This bloke actually gives a bike review from a novice to experienced riders view, not clinical and points out things on bikes that some of us want to hear. If you don’t like his reviews pick another vid. One thing I would like to know is the riders height as a short rider 5’4” this is important information as most bikes in this category are to tall for me to ride comfortably. As I’m coming off an enduro bike of 108kg and looking at a bike weighting in at 200+ kg a firm footing is essential.Cheers keep up the good work

      Thanks Garry!
      I am 5'10" with a 30" inside leg.
      To be completely honest, I never feel truly comfortable on any adventure/tourer bike. I much prefer being able to put my feet down flat - despite me buying the new Africa Twin!! (with lower seat option, of course).
      This was better than some bikes. I generally find Triumphs pretty tall but at least they do usually offer some great seat options.

      Nice one. Perfect bike really. Perhaps only a Tracer GT is close. One doesn't need a GS or Africa Twin or bigger Triumph unless you are
      doing massive trips.
      800s are much more fun too.
      Ride safe!

    I took one of these out last weekend. After riding a Street Triple for the past 3 years, I wanted something a bit more comfortable for touring but I didn't want to lose the superb Triple engine. This fits the bill perfectly.
    I was surprised at the lack of weight and superb handling to be honest.

      haha, i suspect that mirros must be the weakest point of Triumphs. Weird that it happened in two of my four test rides! Considering a test ride is to help one buy a bike you'd think they wouldn't let it go out like that !! :)

      Which Bike I ride a 2013 Tiger 800XC and I never had any problems with mirrors untill about 170 kph after which it shakes and the image becomes blurry. I even put them on extenders and they are not wobbly at all just the blurring start about 10kph earlier. not a problem as I usually cruise at 130-140kph. The problem in the video is that the dealer didn't tighten the mirror enough.

      Yeah, I know. Easy fix but just a funny coincidence that two bike out of three Triumphs I rode that day has badly loose mirrors! :)

    May I suggest that you set the camera angle up a few degrees because at the moment we do not see the road ahead quite a lot of the time and it almost makes one sea sick watching your head bob up and down. You are not the only independent reviewer who gets this wrong.

      Opted for a standard xcx with a tall screen. The rest I'll see what I need rather than loading it with stuff in advance. Went directly for the xcx having owned a Tiger 955i since 2005 and also a couple of Transalps. The 21" front clinched it.

      Ha. No idea! I expected to fail the MOD1 and somehow did a perfect job. I was more confident with the MOD2 but still scraped it.
      I know exactly what i should do.. I could probably teach riding - seriously - where I go wrong is that I have little patience, take risks, like speed and dont concentrate. Its a recipe for disaster. I am the same with skiiing and cycling.
      When I ride slowly and easily and follow the Roadcraft guidelines I am fine.
      To be fair, talking and riding on the road is not easy.

      Well rode about 25 miles home from the dealer and had a huge smile on my face the whole time. Then it has rained not stop since. I am taking it very easy during the first 500 miles as to break the engine in properly. I will update after 1,000 miles when I can really start to play with it.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  9 років тому

      Gavin Burke
      Yay, fair enough. Always wise to take it easy on a new bike, for a good few reasons.
      By the way, what made you get this exact model as opposed to the other Tigers, out of curiosity?

    • @gburke52
      @gburke52 9 років тому

      1,000 miles +. Bike is awesome. Love the adjustable WP suspension. The switchable rider mode is fantastic. I haven't done "real" off road with it. But I have done gravel and dirt roads the stock "off road" mode works well. Just the right amount of slip on the traction control and just the right amount of ABS. If you are going to do any steep hill climb in dirt or mud you will want to set the rider mode to traction control off so you get full spin on the rear. Its an dream to ride on rode, handles well in the corners. I changed the wind screen to a taller tour screen. The stock was too short as I am about 6"2"

      Not as far behind the bigger explorer as you would think.
      I would say overall it is comfortanle for pillions and better than most.
      Triumph seem to get their seating very right, and they always have options. Some will prefer standard, some will go for Gel.
      With a padded backrest on a backbox this woujld be brilliant for pillions.
      Its light so the power is more than enough to make the journey smooth, even 2 up.

      This was on a low seat setting, with a special low comfort seat if I remember right.. The good thing about Triumphs is that they always supply seat options so you have have a low or high seat fitted, and then you adjust that as well!
      Go to a dealer and ask them to show you the same bike on both settings. You will be surprised at the range that they achieve. You would hav to be seriously short or seriously tall to have any real problem.
