    If they don't want drones flying, why don't they prove why to the CAA, who if they have a safety issue, would create a no fly zone. You auditors accept those zones so the refinery wouldn't have a problem.

    The UK is criss-crossed with pipelines most of them WERE government owned and laid down during the cold war. Their purpose was to pump from west coast ports to supply USAF bases on the east coast. Others ran south to Bristol and then across to London. Spurring off from the pipelines were secret strategic storage bases often below ground or hidden in hillsides. Over the years the major oil companies have supplemented the system with their own pipelines like the one from Anglesey to Stanlow and then further on branching off into Manchester airport. The government system has now been sold off to a foreign company. The petro-chemical industry has dramatically contracted from it's hey day in the 70's and 80's. Most refineries have closed and numerous multi-national companies have pulled out of the UK.

    Best interaction I’ve seen in ages from any police. The head of security could have done a lot better by having the less combative attitude he had at the end, had he been more open to actually trying to find out why you were there (been told by DC staff to speak to security and had been waiting there for him to be able to inform him after initial conversation with the other security) then he could have created a better impression of himself and not been “bellowing unnecessary commands” at a member of the public.

      It's just pathetic and along the same lines of people complaining about people who park outside their house. Just like people say you don't own the road outside your self so have no entitlement to park there, the companies need to get with the times and realise they don't own the air space.

    It is an offence to fit and use a blue flashing light to a vehicle. Whether the vehicle ventures onto a public highway is irrelevant.

      @bluebottle1617 Wrong, if what you say is true, then how do airports, docks, secure storage areas, bonded areas, chemical plants and as you've just seen refineries get away with it ?

      @@silversurf6159 Airports have their own fire and rescue service which they must have by law. Docks, yes, especially if they handle flammable materials. Chemical plants, yes, many have their own industrial fire and rescue service, as do oil refineries. Bonded areas, yes, I have come across them with their own firefighting vehicles when I was in the police. If the bonded area holds anything of a flammable nature, then it is likely they will have firefighting vehicles on site.
      What determines whether a vehicle may have blue flashing lights fitted lawfully is the use to which it is put. Vehicles used for fire, police, ambulance, coastguard and lifeboat purposes are all permitted to be fitted with and use blue flashing lights. The vehicle in the video was a security vehicle; that is not included in the permitted vehicles described in legislation. Amber is perfectly lawful for security purposes, but not blue.

    • @bluebottle1617
      @bluebottle1617 5 місяців тому

      @@realmusicreallife Are they the ones that are under the vehicle? If so, they are perfectly legal. The type the bluelight services use are not lawful to fit to vehicles other than those permitted, by law, to have them fitted. The use the vehicle is put to is what determines whether the fitting and use of blue flashing lights is legal.

      @@bluebottle1617 Every man and his dog knows and understands that conventional emergency vehicles, fire, police, ambulance, coast guard, bomb squad etc. can be fitted with blue lights.
      However, my answer to you above, was to your statement......"It is an offence to fit and use a blue flashing light to a vehicle. Whether the vehicle ventures onto a public highway is irrelevant." .......which is patently wrong.
      It is not an offence to fit blue lights, as you suggest it is, " Whether the vehicle ventures onto a public highway is irrelevant."
      There are many other private vehicles that are allowed to have blue lights fitted and be used a couple of examples being certain forestry vehicles, revenue vehicles, Basics Responders which includes GP's and nurses private vehicles. !

    If you have a class2 drone licence you can fly drones 250-500g with same rules as under 250 except avoid flying over people intentionally;)
    Incidentally,
    The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 blue lights cannot be used other than on emergency vehicles. In areas where it’s considered a road, private or not, would be considered unlawful.

    6:30 Flying a drone over somewhere is not a security breach because no security has been breached. There are no barriers up in the air to be breached. There are no security guards up in the air to be breached. There are no laws that stop a sub 250g drone flying over a place so its no illegal either. So it is allowed.

    Blimey! Pipelines possibly carrying explosive chemicals in clear view right next to a road where petrol tanker trucks (and a mobile crane at 13:20) travel frequently. It’s easy to think of a scenario where a truck could crash through the roadside barrier in a shower of sparks and then fracture one or more of the pipelines… I hope those pipelines were decommissioned years ago.
