Great review Alan. "Moine" is Gaelic for "BUY ME NOW"! I've absolutely loved every Bunnahabhain Moine bottling I've tasted, especially the Moine Oloroso. I've got a bottle of the Bunnahabhain Moine Bordeaux Cask that I'll be opening soon... really looking forward to it!
Whisky Ottawa are doing a Virtual Bunna Tasting for Father's Day this month. I've signed up and will be receving my samples in the mail. This will be one of them. Never had Bunna before. Really looking forward to it!
Toetach A Dah (not sure of the spelling) is the peated Bunnahabhain I tried. They seem to be trying different peated whisky to fit into their core range. The un pronounceable one above I had is quite good but needed quite a bit of time in the bottle for the sherry to come out. Moine seems like a good idea to name the standard peat bottle as there special Oloroso bottles are famous. Cheers Alan. As for peated sherry Islay whisky, 2/3 Bunnahabhain 12 1/3 Ardbeg Ugiedail blend is the bomb.
Great review Alan. I love this version of Bunnahabhain. Not as great as their simply amazing Moin Oloroso but nevertheless a really good Bunnahabhain. Thanks for your really excellent reviews. May you smash the 2k very shortly.
Agree with David, have a look at the Ledaig 10yo - just cracked one myself and the bourbon influence is quite dominant. Only draw back is that it hasn’t a great length compared to the Islay versions or even Talisker. Looking forward to getting my coins, keep safe. Cheers
Good review Alan. Could it be that you like it so much because of the sherry influence? Why not try a bourbon matured peaty whisky for example ledaig 10, its a good peaty dram.
Being a sherry lover, and wanting to try more peat, maybe some peated sherry monsters like Ardbeg Uigeadail, etc? :) I recently tried the Glendronach Peated too, which was a real nice surprise!
Really nice review, first of yours I have seen. I’m part of a whisky club and Just managed to pick up three bottles of this one for myself and 2 more the boys. I would really recommend Ardbeg An Oa and Ardbeg uigeadail, both sherried, An Oa has a mix of ex bourbon and PX casks but the Uigeadail has a big hit of heavy rich sherry and for me is the pick of the Ardbeg bunch. Mixes sherry and smoke so well like a Flambé Christmas pudding. All the best hope to see more reviews.
Didn't know it will be part of the core range. Definitely will have to get a bottle. I recently tried Loch Lomond 14yo single cask tawny port and will have a go at other LL bottlings.
Alan thanks for a exciting review. I have a bottle of this but not sure what year it is. Do you know how I can tell what I have?.........................Slainte'
Good job, Alan! If you can find Lagavulin 12, both the 2014and 2015 batches are the ones to look for. I don't know about the 2018 or the 2019 batches as I have not tasted them, but the 2014 and 2015 are better, in my opinion, than the 2016 and 2017 bottles. Also, have a look out for Port Charlotte MC:01 from 2009 and MRC:01 from 2010. Those are tours de forces when it comes to intense wine cask flavors and peat smoke married together...
Really nice cover dot you got there. Still have to try some Bunnahabhain... i know it is your favorite but for someone who has not tried yet, which one would you recommend?😉
@@thewhiskyfriend i had 3 bottles a year ago for 29€ each and i thought it was the right price for it. I guess i'd rate it 85. It's a good peated NAS but i think in the same price/profile range i'd prefer the Ledaig 10, Ardbeg 10 or Port Charlotte 10.

Bunnahabhain really do seem to have that wonderful knack of turning out great whiskies. Great review buddy. Sláinte.
Great review Alan love Bunna I thing all their bottlings are good. Can not wait for your peat reviews.

I would suggest the Laphroaig PX Cask for you. Such a special dram.
