The first dress was 100% my style and I would wear it anywhere and feel comfortable. I thought it was very pretty. I probably wouldn’t wear the second dress anywhere but a night out with my SO.
In my experience, the designer of something is going to see the flaws nobody else noticed because the designer knows where all the flaws are and what their vision had been compared to the finished product

Waistline was definitely the right choice! It gives the dress balance, so it's neither top-heavy (neckline) nor bottom-heavy (hemline). With the lace at the top and the lining peeking out at the hemline, bows at the waistline just complete the look, perfectly 😊💜
it’s way too bare bones and the lace looks like plastic (i have dresses from innocent world and BTSSB, their lace looks heavier and feels softer). Also the bows are pretty tacky and it’s too short 😂

From another seamstress - You could play w the length of the front. Add some ties so you can make it shorter and add some interest. Like 2 on the sides would look soo cute. Chains - like the clasic black chanel dress Embroidery - shiny stones make everything better ✨️ Patches - how awesome is a dress w dragons or snakes or roses or whatever you wanna add Paint! - a quote, a manga panel anythinggg Pearls - they can be put as buttons to add elegance, or all over the place to make it a little more 50s and classy You have a gorgeously crafted canvas, there are so many ways to elevate it!

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but personally, i would have made petticoat pockets either below the ribbons or where the ribbons are and put the ribbons on top. style and functionality at its finest. if you put a little structure, it wouldn't be weighed down too bad by stuff thrown in there
Definitely. I went in the other day looking for minky fabric, and while their minky selection has never been phenomenal (at the location near me), they had even LESS this time to choose from. And don't get me started on the polymer clay selection either, it went from plentiful to practically nothing. Those are really the only things I was searching for, but Joann's is getting more bare.

I mean, I honestly wouldn’t be mad. If you had more of that white trim and put that white trim on the waist line you can still put the bows on the waistline, and put the two bows in the back of the dress on the straps

Put the bows where you want to draw your eye. Smaller bust, delicate shoulder line, then bows at straps at bodice junction. Smaller waist, then place there. Taller, longer frame with banging legs, then hemline. I think I'd like to see what bows at your back waistline looks like. It might be too much, but some eyelet embroidered lace trim for white slip/petticoat. Maybe in navy?? But it will add $$$.

A simple ribbon at the waistline would give it more definition and breakup the solid black. That keeps the eye moving and it helps bring attention to the bodice detail more.

I absolutely LOVE it!! Though the first was beautiful, I love the finished so much more!! Having white accents + the bows adds an even ratio of white and black verses just a small amount on the end. And the bows are so cute!! The material you used helps it go with the rest really well
Love the original dress. I am a simple person whenever it comes to specific designs. Love the new design though. But for me, I would have maybe a white ribbon sash around the waistline would be my thing. And then the ribbons on the side. Or one in the middle. A white rose on one of the sleeves. But more like a clip on. Or a small white rose in the middle of the sash for the waistline. And the two ribbons on the side like this design. I tend to like both roses and ribbons.
Just a idea: Gather a bit like in the w shape under the bow, it will look like the bow is holding the gathering, also use some of the trim around the bows to make them better and match more of the items used on the dress.
You should try adding the white trim to the lining at the bottom of the skirt, I think it would make it all come together, I also love where you placed the bows it’s so cute!

I have an idea: What about tying them on the tops of your shoulders and then a white sash around the waist with a black bow on one side of the sash, at a slight tilted angle.
