- The Great Britain XVI- day 8. LMS Black 5s 44871 and 45407 ‘the Lancashire Fusilier’ 1Z45 Liverpool Lime Street to Swansea via the Central Wales line.
Departing Liverpool Lime Street at 09:00, 45407 ‘the Lancashire Fusilier’ can be seen emerging from Lime Street tunnels working hard on the climb up to Edge Hill. 45407 would work the train as far as Chester before 44871 would attach to the front for a double head run over the Central Wales line to Swansea.
The second shot sees the pair waiting at Chester where we managed to overtake.
The final shots see 44871 & 45407 storming up towards Church Stretton on the Welsh Marches line. Thanks to @crunchynutsteamfilms5043 for the help with the second camera.

Very nice, like !!!
Great video footage as always Luke. Kind regards, Jake.
Thanks Jake.
Lovely footage from your different locations you went. I went to Craven Arms myself to catch Day 8 as the other plan was cancelled
Cheers Andy. I’ll take a look at your video now
I always love steam trains.
Joe from Canada
I saw this train with both black 5s (entirely by accident) at Slateford in Edinburgh a couple of days ago
They’re certainly getting around lately
Super video footage from day 8.
Great vid! I am going to reading to see it today, I am very excited!
Who said smoking wasn't good for your health? This was brilliant. Well chuffed
Thank you
Very nice video :)
Great footage 👍
Well done Luke, cracking sounds from 45407 .😊
Cheers Stephen.
Lovely video mate!
Shame I couldn’t join you for this one
Regards, Liam
Always 5043 in a couple months mate
Excellent :)
Great Video mate the Black 5s worked really well especially 45407 in at Edge hill. Edge hill is probably going to be on my list when I see earl at lime street in June
You’ll enjoy it there James.
Brillaint spot for filming steam out of Lime Street.
On a side note it's a shame they keep giving preserved locos names they never held when in service, plus the fashion of replacing the later BR lion logo with the earlier one.
Another lovely video well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on UA-cam bye for now Philip
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. The next video will be going live Monday at 17:00.
Thumbs up to you Luke I’ve attended todays Severn valley railway for the spring steam gala and I’ve got the locos I’ve come to see check it out
Cheers Scott. I’ve got one more day of filming at the gala before that video goes up.
@@blackcountrysteamvideos8021yeah luke check it out the locos I’ve caught on that day
Enjoyed the video but someone should get the local gardening contractor to take his chainsaw or scrub cutter down to the Lime Street tunnels. The amount of vegetation is excessive. Mind you, could be said about anywhere on the system these days.
Pleased I kept quiet for the video 7
Many thanks. Was good to meet you at farm lane
THE NEW HSR 🤣
