For Eddie to compare someone shaking his hand without saying 'well done' 5 years ago, to someone getting raped ... is bizzare beyond words and quite honestly disgusting. Everything about the guy's demeanour shows him to be a man child, and I thoroughly hope that Thor delivers a spectacular knockout.

Honestly I was shocked as well. I don´t really know enough about their beef but as far as I´ve seen it Eddie´s feelings get hurt quite easily.
Eddie is not saying that what Thor did is as bad as rape. He used an extreme example. Stubbing your toe and childbirth are both painful. In both cases the pain goes away. If you simply wanted to explain the concept of pain then you could use childbirth as an analogy- this would be an effective way of communicating the idea to a wide audience. Obviously though, it would be ridiculous to suggest that the scale of the pain is similar. If he had equated the 2 things then I'd be making similar comments to you, but that is very much not what happened.
It's disappointing that people jump on specific words so quickly without considering the message being communicated- Eddie is someone who obviously lives by extremes, so of course his communication is no exception. There is nothing disgusting about what he said. I'm trying to phrase this in a way that doesn't insult you, because my whole point is that insulting someone based on an interpretation of their communication style is entirely unfair and ultimately only reflect badly on you since it suggests you either commented based on existing bias or simply didn't consider any perspective beyond your own. It's also disappointing that Thor perpetuated that in this video, but given the situtation he's obviously pushing an anti-Eddie narrative (as Eddie is against him, that's a large part of the fun!).

A grown man being so upset about not being congratulated by another man is so absurd to me.
Strongman is a family, Hafþór not congratulating Eddie for the win then throwing shade hurt for him. You may not understand because you have never put your entire life/family/future on the line to achieve your one dream in life. Eddie did and he expected Hafþór to be happy for him.
It's called sportsmanship. And it's not only that, I like Thor, but he did literally try to smear and besmirch Eddie's reputation, claiming he cheated, conspired to fake the results, etc. It's perfectly reasonable for Eddie to have been upset.

I don't think so. Having watched the full interview (very recently posted), I think Eddie meant to compare the damage done in a rape to the damage done by Hafthor "Slandering" his WSM win in 2017. Regardless of the context, it's really not a good look for Eddie.

Eddie says you're lucky he retired in 2018. The reality is Eddie nearly died pushing his weight up high enough to be competitive, and if he had to do it over again in 2018 he may not have lived to see the competition

So actually beeing mad about something like that and comparing it to beeing punched in the face or raped like damn... and over all... eddie got the win... yeah it was surrounded by a bit of controversy but nobody actually says eddie didnt win it or an actuall attempts were made to like take his win away.
Thor is the most improved adult I have seen hop in the sport. I have seen people with more talent start but never seen anyone improve so much from where he was to is.
He should be as proud of his growth boxing as any strong man accomplishments because it is a grueling thing to get good at.

I just want to thank you for doing these videos. It has given me a sense of home even though I'm far from home. Watching your videos and how much joy you have, it truly makes my day a little bit brighter.
Frankly, over the last 21 day's, it's helped more then you know.
You see, right now I'm in Kharkiv in the Ukraine. My wife is Ukrainian. We came here before the war to bury my mother-in-law who died from cancer and found ourselves in the middle.
I'm formal army. I was a weapons sgt with the third special forces out of fort Bragg.
After three deployments I ended up getting wounded and got out of the military.
Now I find myself once again fighting in this war. I only want my wife and son safe and thankfully I was able to get them to Poland. As an American I could have left, but I couldn't.
I couldn't leave these people. It's hell here.
At least my family is safe which was my only concern.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for these videos, it brings a little light in a otherwise dark life that we're in right now.
God speed and remember, never take for granted the people in your life and the blessings we have, cause someday it could all be gone. Regardless of whatever happened between you and Eddie, I certainly hope that both of you remember the friendship you once held. And realize that at the end of the day, we are all brother's. Which frankly is one of the most painful thing's about this war, because many of the Russians are fighting in the very City they are originally from.

To be fair, both are bad at boxing 😂 The difference is that Thor is too motionless and easy to hit. Eddie moves much more and hits with more fury and power. I can't say for sure who will win, but if Eddie hits Thor more than Thor hits him, that power is going to be too much for Thor. Eddie is a fighter and Thor is not. Eddie is not showing everything in his videos, he might be fooling all of us and show a completely polished boxing technique in the ring.

This all started because Thor made comments about WSM 2017 being set up in Eddies favour, which led to him winning. Oddly enough Eddie hasn't made comments about that and is only making comments about Thor not shaking his hand
Well, it's that and Thor repeatedly trying to diminish Eddie's life goal achievement by saying that the judges were unfair and robbed him of reps. Eddie did take it wayyyy too personally and got directly nasty about it, but it's clear that both have huge egos and a propensity to hold grudges tho.

@@jayclean5653 I don't think it's that bad of a call by Colin, I think people are quick to forget that there was a load/drag event in the heats, on the same kind of surface, and only 2 competitors completed it, Thor and Terry hollands. Colin just didn't want a repeat of a shit show in the finals, especially the risk of injury with multiple competitors slipping and falling in the heats during the drag

He is only mimicking some of Eddie's movements that he has shown on video. He is not mimicking his rage or his power. Thor is too stationary when he fights and Eddie moves around much more. We can't say for sure who is going to win, but i think that Eddie will win because of his rage and he will not hold back.

@@robinastro4466 It's often common place in competitions for the winner to shake the hands of everyone else and not the other way around. Eddie also shook Brian Shaws hand as opposed to Brian offering him.

@@robinastro4466 do you mean that third party film maker who also edited the video to make it look like Thor did not accept eddies handshake at the podium and also the same film maker who left out the part where Colin Bryce said that the overhead press was changed from the year before and Thor might have been too tall for the press forcing him to lean backwards and bend his knees to be able to lockout his arms. If that is the film maker and documentary you are talking about then you should probably do more research because it was deleted and taken down from the official strongman youtube channel because it was obviously one sided and biased.

The issue was Eddie said Thor never shook his hand back in 2017 to which Thor said yes he did then Eddie said you did but you pretty much pissed and moaned. Thor said he apologized and Eddie denied it. These men don’t get along. Eddie is quick to instigate and Thor is quick to retaliate. It is what it is.

It looks like they both genuinely feel strongly about it all, but Eddie seems less willing to separate that from the sport. I don't get why people get offended by his comments though, or at least I do but it's based on a misinterpretation. I do the same thing regularly- using extreme analogies to make a point more clearly, but it's far from equating the 2 things.
Eddie isn't saying that Thor's actions were of a comparable nature to rape- that would absolutely be unacceptable. He's saying that if someone hurts you in some way then it can't just be forgotten, then using an extreme example so that everyone can understand the nature of the issue, although the scale is different. Anyone who doesn't think in the same way may well interpret the comment as equating the 2 things though, and understandably be offended by that. That isn't either Eddie's fault or that of those who are offended, it's simply that people are different in how they explain things.
This argument can go both ways. Eddie's ready to die in that ring. Not to sure about Thor though. To suggest it's an advantage to Thor is a stretch. A weird one at that. When Mike Tyson went into the ring at his prime he was going with a fierce will to dominate. That's what got him through most of these fights that ended in such quick fashion. If Thor goes in too relaxed, you can tell 100% Eddie is going for his opponent's head like an animal (a Beast ?).

@@celeroon89 When you've spent 5 years being angry at someone, no matter what for, then train for 2 years to fight them and finally sit in front of them then fully considering every word you say isn't going to happen. It's not really fair to judge someone for using an analogy that may be inappropriate in that situation.
It's like telling a Ukrainian soldier not to insult the mother of someone who just bombed his house - yes I'm deliberately making an extreme and questionably appropriate analogy to prove the point. It's a situation with pressure, the pressure is not even slightly comparable and nobody should suggest otherwise, but people under any pressure don't always behave in a way that is acceptable elsewhere. That's the point of an analogy, if it was entirely equal in every way then it would simple be an explanation. Analogies are often more effective, especially extreme ones, as they distill the exact point being made. That's why not forgetting things is like riding a bike...it's not, but people understand what you mean.
Edit: I tried to make it blindingly obvious, but this is the internet so I'm betting on someone thinking I'm insulting Ukrainians or something...but strongman fans are a smart bunch generally so I've gone with the comment as it is! Just adding a note in case an F1 fan turns up or something 😆

Nervous? Eddie has repeatedly asked Thor to agree to the looser gives their fee to charity. If you are 100% confident you’d say yes without hesitation. Eddie is 110% confident in himself and has a fight and determination inside. Thor is either a gentle giant or doesn’t have the same fight in him as Eddie from what has been shown. Thor did it the right away... Seeing his pad work and shadowboxing a few days out from the fight and comparing that to how he was when he first began, its clear to any1 with any boxing experience that he has improved tremendously, he moves like a boxer now. His punches are sharp with a nice rythm too them, and he doesnt lose balance when stringing together combos. Contrasting that to the padwork footage eddie hall released yesterday, theres just no comparison. Eddie hall boxes like a blumbering wild swinging buffoon, amidst arm punches and throwing himself off balance. He looks the same as he did when he started, which to me tells me his head hasnt been in the sweet science. Fucking well done Thor, regardless of the outcome of the fight, youve done absolutely amazing. Much love and respect from Portugal, go give that fat boy a taste of the sweet science!
It is always interesting reading the thoughts from actually boxers. And over time it seems like more and more boxers are coming over to Thors side. I don't know boxing, but I know training and Thor have done a lot of smart and good decisions all the way

Eddie tries to brute force it, while Thor tries to outbox Eddie. As both are relative beginners, it can go either way, just 1 good punch has to slip with those giant fists of them.

I agree with you! They were friends up to that point and Thor destroyed that friendship because of how he acted. Even tho Eddie lost to Thor at the stone-off, he still acted like a true sportsman and friend and gratulated Thor. If the tables had been turned and Thor had won WSM 2017 and Eddie had finished second, Eddie would have been pissed about losing but he would have been a much better sport about it and would have gratulated Thor on the victory. Eddie often acts like a pig and says things before thinking it through, but he is a true sportsman and a genuine guy deep down.

@@anderswallin3883 Yes very well said, Thor was a very poor sportsman that day and I think let the disappointment get the better of him. I get it, to keep coming 2nd place must have been hard. That said it doesn't excuse his behavior afterwards and since. He should have accepted it plain and simple not thrown his toys out of the pram and quit the sport.
All that being said since then leading up to the fight Eddie has gone a little overboard in my opinion and it doesn't show him in a good light. I do look forward to the fight but these fights never resolve anything really, its just about the money. That being said will definitely be watching, just not supporting either especially.
The thing is Thor has let it rest, Eddie hasn't. 5 years on and Eddie is bringing it up at every waking moment. Thor was upset in the moment and said some things he shouldn't have... dont we all? Time has passed and he got over it, Eddie is just holding a grudge for the sake of it now and people are just bored of it.

Ed's hands are always at his sides for 2 reasons, 1 is it squishes the air out of him having them tight in front and the other he was never taught professionaklly or taken it serious. Ed is going to try to push him up against the ropes/corners and throw over hand haymakers and this is where Thor has to grab him and lean on him and make Ed carry his weight and use the jab to hold Ed back as his head will be a large target as his arms will tire fast trying to hold them up. Ed's only chance is thowing wild bombs and he will tire doing that and Thor will pick him apart.
Dude has like 10" extra reach and has loads more stamina lol.
In boxing those advantages are crazy. The only way to counter it is to be an extremely proficient boxer. Eddie isn't an extremely proficient boxer.
Sorry, but we've seen a LOT of non-boxer boxinfg fights over the last few years.
Even MacGregor who is a fighter couldn't translate to a proficient boxing style with a year of practice.
These guys aren't even fighters and have only been training a year.
It's going to be exhaustion and points or a lucky knockout.
Points will favour Thor to win, Eddie likely has the chance to KO Thor as Eddie does have insane power.
Just like MacGregor though, will Eddie get that opportunity? Likely not.
It's going to be a fumbling mess, going by the half dozen non boxer boxing matches lately by youtubers and UFC guys.

It's important to be clear that making an extreme analogy is not the same as equating the 2 things. I can't speak for Eddie, but I am someone who communicates in a similar way so from that perspective, the distinction is hugely important. Cutting your finger and losing an arm are both painful injuries. If you lost and arm and someone who cut their finger told you that it hurts and used the loss of the arm to explain what pain is, that would be reasonable and is what Eddie is doing here. To suggest the scale is the same would be a very different story and totally unacceptable of course. It's a way of communicating that certain types of people have, it requires interpretation but invariably is not intended to cause offense.
This isn't about defending Eddie (I'll play the exact opposite role in Eddie's comments I'm sure!), but I've made a few similar comments purely because any step towards people understanding each other better can't be a bad thing...

Damn I watched Eddies latest video. I really hope he is trolling and holding a lot back on his fighting style since otherwise it might be to one sided. Both of Thor and Eddie are so strong that power is no issue. So defense will be most important and stamina as well. Stamina is hard to compare until the night but defense of Thor looks miles ahead of Eddie.
Of course no where near true masters like Fury. But luckily for Thor he is not facing Brittain's finest. So impressive improvements by Thor.
But even if he is trolling wouldnt there be a glimps of his true boxing habbits in these "troll" boxing footage videos ?
@putalawea equisde Watch Thor's video "Dubai day 3" and Eddie's "The Desolation of Thor" and say that again. Pay really attention on their pad work, how they move and punch. Than comeback here and say that again. If you're judging who hits harder by the sound of the punches do when connecting to the pads, you're tripping. Pay attention on who is using more body weight to punch and your answer will be there. If you still not convinced because you never trained or holded pads for multiple people, search for Manny Pacquiao hitting pads than Andy Ruiz. You will find Manny Pacquiao hitting much louder and much sharper, but i don't think i need to say that Andy Ruiz hits harder because of his body weight. That's the same thing, Eddit hitting pads faster because he arm punches from his hips is not a hard punch compared to someone like Thor punching from his guard using his body.

Strength doesn't mean much when it comes to punching power. Both Thor and Eddie lack and real snap on their punches and would not be big KO machines in Boxing. Thor is a significantly better Boxer though
@@IvanM272 Yeah looking at the rotation and the weight Thor gets from his feet, to hips, to the punch looks way better than Eddie. Not faster but cleaner. I am no martial artist expert of any means. But done kayaking and a lot of movement is similar. You are strong in rotation and getting the explosive power in one clean movement is key.
About the sit down with Eddie, if I were Thor's publicity manager I would advise Thor to go about any meetings, videos, etc. as a humble good-natured guy and refer to the 2017 fiasco as not his nor Eddie's proudest moments but that he, Thor, has moved on with life to bigger and better things.
Had I had a faceoff with Eddie I would have just laughed in his face for still trying to bring up 2017. Clearly, it shows that what Eddie thinks is a major, if only, defining thing in his character is winning WSM and it shows in the amount of ego he has. No sport actually is who you are, it simply reveals who you are already. It seems that Eddie wanted people to brown-nose him for his 2017 title and Thor basically said no. It's why he still refers to himself as the WSM five years later and no world records are still in his name.
I'm not a star athlete in the least, not even close, but coming from a business background and seeing a lot of posturing and power plays Eddie was a scrub in comparison for the sit-down, just look at Trump and Macron dandruff conversation. For Thor, it sucks that English isn't his native language but, he shouldn't bite to Eddie's little jabs, from the charity crap (it's his money do with it as he wishes) to not congratulating the 2017 WSM or whatever other nuances Eddie brings up.
Hope Thor wins, an ego doesn't seem to be a part of Thor anyways, it's why his training was actually good and commended so much by Joe Rogan.

As an avid strongman fan and a huge fan of both Thor and Eddie over the years, I have to say that Thor seems to have matured so much in the last 5 years while Eddie seems to have become more and more arrogant. I always thought Eddie was just confident to the point of being obnoxious, but the lead-up to this fight has shown a much more immature side of him. Makes me sad since I use to look up to him.
I think one thing most strongmen fans find especially obnoxious about that exchange was how disrespectful he was against Martin Licis.
