In the early 1980s a minor Italian tv channel used to show Sandford and Son. My dad absolutely adored it and so did I - I was around 8 to 10 yo. PS. The show was very well dubbed, that was a time when italians dubbers were still exceptional.
Bless his soul. I learned a lot from his performances and tried to copy him. He was a genius. He put out the very vulnerable aspects of humans which we try to hide in an amusing way, and showing us that we are all the same. Rest in peace Redd Foxx.

I'm so grateful to see Redd Foxx in this interview and a few years later he got his role... Sandford and Son was a perfect comedy for his talents. This was my first introduction into black culture along with The Jeffersons. It didn't take race relations to the point of white vs black, it made us laugh at everything. I'm so happy these shows can still be watched and enjoyed. For me, they unite rather than divide us which for any show is a great accomplishment.
Man, Redd Foxx was one talented guy. He helped a lot of people move-up and make it. My mom and dad loved him and I died laughing listening to his albums as a little kid.
The tragedy in your point is that it's being watched everyday. Redd said one of the worst decisions he EVER MADE was signing his future royalties from SAS over to his ex wife in order to pay for his costly divorce. He resorted to selling his property/cherished keepsakes and work the remainder of his life all the while stating in interviews that he wanted to retire comfortably but couldn't.😢

Hands up or down Red Foxx was the top of the hill. So many entertainers borrowed his lines, his style and wit to no end. As to no education Red should have just looked around and seen just how well spoken he was. He did every circuit of comedy you can imagine. His answers being baited by the interviewer were from the heart and to the point. This was a proud man who knew his craft well enough to teach a "Master of Masters Class". Thank you Red Foxx.

Hands up or down Red Foxx was the top of the hill. So many entertainers borrowed his lines, his style and wit to no end.
As to no education Red should have just looked around and seen just how well spoken he was.
He did every circuit of comedy you can imagine.
His answers being baited by the interviewer were from the heart and to the point.
This was a proud man who knew his craft well enough to teach a "Master of Masters Class".

Love watching Redd when I was a kid.
Red was 47 when he did Sanford! I pretty sure he didn’t know that he would be in the Rushmore of male television stars in history. He’s there with Gleason, Van Dyke and O’Conner . A natural entertainer ,,,,,and his show was important !
And this interview made me give him even more respect he said he was grinding for 31 years and it took him a long time before he got his show

They were road dogs. While together, they would pull off little nickel and dime schemes like skipping out on a restaurant plate, sell a little weed and stuff like that. But what pulled them apart was Malcolm had eyes on bigger schemes like heavy robbery, and Redd couldn't see himself doing time or getting killed, so he they went their separate ways.
@@thespadestable Then malcolm did homosexual acts with a rich white man for money, snitched on his whole gang, sabotaged/set back the civil rights movement and divided blacks and actively prevented them from coalescing, called MLK, Ruston, Rabdolph etc uncle toms, denounced the march on washington and everyone who participated, constantly slammed JFK who was moving civil rights forward etc etc etc. Why black people celebrate Malcolm X, i have no clue. Dude did nothing for black people.
Never watched a Redd Foxx interview before. Glad I selected this one. Newfound respect for this comedic genius.
