Yeah I always thought it would me more interesting to benchmark handhelds by locking 720p30 and seeing power draw. Instead of benchmarking how many FPS you can get.
yeah any D4 fps test that's not done during a Legion event with 8+ players is pretty worthless. also, this game runs in borderless rather than exclusive fullscreen so I'm pretty sure RSR isn't doing anything. I also have no idea why you'd use RSR instead of just the in-game FSR.
I love this device, had it for 3 weeks and it’s perfect for Diablo 4. Also got the usb C asus oled portable monitor and a thunderbolt hub so I can use the ally as a controller whilst it is outputting to the OLED monitor and charge at 65w all using one cable to the hub. This thing is bloody wicked and using it more than my 4090 pc rig.
Just remember u can't play without internet, I have it on steam deck and don't play outside home but for many the fact u need internet to play is a deal breaker
I just picked up the ROG Ally last night, with the sole purpose to play D4 while out & about. Currently setting it up, but can hardly wait to start playing on this device.
Literally the only reason I pre-ordered the Ally was for this game so I can play at work lol. It would of been nice to get more info like if you run it plugged in and quality settings vs fps.
I bough Diablo 4 for my series x but I pre-ordered the ally too but if I want to play I have downloaded it again for ally or I have buy the game somebody help me with question plz I’ll appreciated
As the steam deck is not available officerly on aus im leaning towards the ally thanks for pointing out the 18watt balance, I wonder if they will enable disabling cpu cores as 4-6 would be enough these days.
Great video. Another channel testing this game/setup ran it on high everything and ultra performance fsr to the tune of 60-80 fps. I'm getting impatient waiting for my Ally now lol.
Omg it's like you read my mind... This will definitely be one of the games on my ally..... Well besides fallout 4 and skyrim. Thanks for the preview ✌🏿 😁
Diablo IV is so optimized I could run it on my 10 year old PC I use for browsing so I'm sure you can easily bump this to a lower TDP and it still run great.
I would love for someone to show what the battery drain is like locked at 30 and 60 fps. Maybe even in between at 40fps. It shoud significantly decrease the battery drain, but by how much? I get that you wanna show off how fast it can go, but most users in handheld mode will cap the fps to 40 or something to get the most out of the battery....
Some traversal skills are totally broken on controller. Charge, leap, teleport, trample. My trampled earth build is almost unusable on controller because trample just autotargets an enemy and stops as soon as you hit them. On mouse+kb I can charge like 1 entire screen width.
Sorry, I don't know if it was mentioned in the video, but what configs is he playing? does this game run at 720p with everything on high at like 60 fps?
@Ridku13 40 fps is great but only if the screen can natively support 40hz or 120hz with 40 locked. It's surprisingly way more responsive than 30 fps. At the screen size of a handheld device it is actually the better effective pixel response than sitting in front of a 27inch monitor @ 60hz. I think 40hz is the future of console gaming, if we want to be pushing fidelity and perfect for handheld for battery savings.
I pre ordered mines not too long ago. Been playing Diablo on my pc and very excited to be able to use this in bed when my gf gets upset about me on the game…
I would like to see the absolute minimum wattage and settings this can run on the ally for max battery life. Would a 30 fps lock with low settings run at like 8 watts or somthing crazy low? Curious to see how long u can play this on the go
@@feetenthusiast1015 yea that sucks too. Would have to use hotspot. I’ve had good experiences streaming it from my ps5 that is plugged in to Ethernet and using backbone on my iPhone over 5g network. Played a few hours at work like that. Might be better off playing it that way on the go since it needs connection anyway
Love these videos, thanks for thr quality content. Can the ROG Ally download Game Pass games to the local storage (HDD) or is Game Pass strictly cloud gaming?
It would be good to see that medium graphics mix. I have the steam deck locked at 40Hz/40 FPS and I’m at medium across the board. I’m drawing around 12 watts, so that should give me 3 hours of run time on the go.
Disapppinged you had to drop it to 720p, what's the point of even having a nicer screen if it can't be used? I'd like to see games at their native res and you drop from there.
Can u pause a game and turn the system off like the Nintendo switch or at least set it to sleep? If during sleep mode how fast does the battery drain if at all? Do you personally exit to windows and shut down the game after every session?
Hey man, could you test the System Shock remake on the Ally and the Steamdeck? I'm quite interested in seeing how those would handle recent games that are well optimized, since we already know not even powerful desktop rigs can run crappy ports like Jedi Survivor or Redfall well.
I understand if it's not popular or demanding enough to warrant a video, but would love to see WWE 2K23 if there's enough interest. This device and your coverage of it it has rekindled my interest and enjoyment in PC games and neat handhelds. Thanks for the great content!!!
Stupid question: is that the default key mapping? Can't you look with the right joystick and shoot with the flaps behind the Ally? Doing that wiggly motion you do with the left joystick makes it feel weird.
Thanks!
Lock it at 60 and see what the total draw is then. I'm interested in seeing that.
Just 1 more week 🥲🥲
Yeah I want to know battery life at 60fps. Specifics not just “a long time”.
I realy would like to know this as well, 60 fps cap + autotdp i realy wanna know how long the battery will last with this setting
Same
Yeah I always thought it would me more interesting to benchmark handhelds by locking 720p30 and seeing power draw. Instead of benchmarking how many FPS you can get.
AWESOME!!!! Thank you for your time and all the information, you are amazing!!
Would probably be best to benchmark this when things are a bit more chaotic. That way, we at least get the worst case scenario
+1
agree

In performance mode and 720p

How do you change controls to be set up for a controller and not a mouse and keyboard?
Can you play diablo immortal too in this Rog ally? Please let me know. Thanks
Literally one of the main reasons I bought an ally, not gonna lie.
Thx for this update. I only got the Ally to plaly Diablo 4.
Wow this is incredible!! What I've been waiting for!
Thank You for making this video. I mainly bought the Ally for D4 and WOW.
Same here bought it for blizzard games
Me to it’s downloading now
How do you play wow on this?
This thing is sweet ! Got it today Mines downloading now
How do you guys find it for WoW?
Later in game my fps drops hard from all the effects would like to see like a lv30 gameplay on the ally great video
I was waiting for this review. Definitely want to play it on ally.
Ally is awesome for playing D4. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time
I will absolutely buy Ally just for this game
I am too lol. Also plus emulation and some other indie titles I’ve yet to beat like hades and dead cells lol
@@brennancurrier806 Lol, exactly my plan too 😂

Given how well the steam deck handles the game, I’d assume it’s no issue for the rog

@@JTrsqdiver How long does your battery last while playing d4?
This game is the primary reason why I got interested in x86 handhelds.
Thank you, been waiting for this.
You said we would get Aya neo 2s vs rog ally in a few days and it’s been like a week
I personally will go with the better stablish and most popular out of those two. Rog Ally my personal choice.

Also 60 fps would be cool enough for me in this game, i realy would like to know how long the battery can last with autotdp and 60 fps target
Just got my Z1 extreme today
Could you provide a zoomed in view of the Frame rate pinned to a corner of the video? Really useful when viewing on a mobile device :)

Why are you using RSR instead of FSR?
Just knowing that D4 has controller support makes me want it. I really wish PC Diablo 3 did.

D4 is waaaaay better than D3 ever was. And I dumped thousands of hours into D3. It's GOTY easily.
