I have used my Zephyros 1 tent for a total of 9 weeks during spring/summer 2015 in the nw highlands of Scotland on hiking/wild camping/fly fishing trips. The tent can be packed away even more compact if the 2 short end poles are removed before rolling up. I have used paracord and a clothes peg to tie back the outer door and sewn a net pocket into the inner tent wall to store torch, spectacles etc The storage space at either end and near the outer door is adequate for boots, backpack etc but would benefit from some sort of groundsheet.I have purchased a footprint but not yet tested it. The entire tent, comprising outer, inner and footprint can be packed and pitched as one which is a useful feature in bad weather. The first time that I pitched the tent was in advance of a huge storm and I managed it in under 5 minutes just before the heavens opened. The tent survived high winds ,torrential rain and an added bonus was that it proved to be fairly midge proof ! Highly recommended
Ant, to hold back the flysheet door, there is an elastic loop sewn to the top of the inner tent, down by the feet end. This allows you to insert the small toggle attached to the bottom of the flysheet, down by the main zip. So the flysheet folds up and inwards, back inside the tent, if you like. I much prefer your method though, which makes a bigger opening ! Gazza.
Good, thorough review Ant. I went to have a look at one in Cotswold Outdoors with a mate and they had it set up terribly - the inner was saggy and the fly was all over the place but your pitch here looks a lot better and actually liveable! Seems a solid choice for a modestly priced solo backpacking tent.
No need to apologise mate - your post was one of the most useful -measuring the inner tent was a great help. I'm really worried about this tent - I pitched it today to check it out, and my inner tent measurements are smaller than quoted. It's pitched perfectly, with the inner really taut, but my head room is only 80 cm at the tallest point, not the 95 they quote. This is without a mat or sleeping bag ! I cannot get my extra long Munro mat inside - it's 194cm by 65, as it tapers at the ends.
Excellent review Ant, and I have just bought one myself. However, I must correct you - it's not possible to put up just the inner. The pole actually goes through the guide attached to the flysheet, and the strap with brass eyeholes that allows you to tension the pole is sewn onto the flysheet. If you try to pitch just the inner, there is nothing to put your pole through and tension it to. You may have misread the question? You can certainly pitch just the flysheet!
Nice review Ant, I've done the same as you with the guy lines and bought a footprint, fantastic tent for the cash especially when Go Outdoors have 15% off Wink
I've got the banshee 200 and never been impressed how close the fly and inner are. Once you get a bit of condensation in there the fly sticks to the inner, it's damned annoying! Seriously like this tent tho, as I really like the side opening, it's the best access with a low tent in my opinion.
Good review. Saw you also have the blade. I'm looking at both these tents. On paper which would you say is better, and in your opinion which do you prefer. Have you tried them out in high winds yet. Planning a lot of multi day walks coming up, and will be off to NZ for a bit later in the year backpacking and hopefully will have room for a tent, but budget is the big issue and can only really afford £100. It would be great to hear which one you think is better. Thanks
Great review! This has complimented all the good reviews I've read on Amazon... buying! This was obviously posted nearly 2 years ago, how has it held up?
I have the Litchfield Treklite 200, which is exactly the same as the Banshee 200. I was disappointed to hear of your experience because I was after the more 'covert' (green) Banshee 200; I've had no dramas with condensation in the Treklite.
Cheers for the review. I'm stuck now though, watched your vid on the blade and don't know which to go for. Z1 looks like it is better but blade is only £75 at the mo. If you had to choose, which one would it be? Cheers
hi man, i just finished watching this video and thought it was really cool. i had purchased a zephyros 1 for myself. when i tried to set it up for the first time i was unable to set it up because it seemed like the pole was too long. i was just wondering if you had a similar experience when you got yours. I'm unable to pitch my tent and if you have any advice it would be really appreciated. thanks for the cool video, keep up the great work
great video. can you please tell me if you have ever separated the tent and pitched it in to parts? I like the idea that in bad weather is can fold away the inner in to a dry bag and then the outer. but I'm not sure if that would work.
Comprehensive review .. Well done.. I know this upload is almost 7 years ago . FFW. To 2020. The best 1 person tent of this design is the Robens Starlight 1 .At a budget .. 108 euros.. Bomb proof and wind gust tested to 174 kmph..5000mm hh outer and 10,000mm bath tub.. 1.9kg..
Hi glad you have just commented about the starlight one , been watching as many reviews as there is (not many), I've got it down to four and the starlight one along with the zephros 1 , what's it like please .
I have the Starlight two and it is claimed to be bombproof - up to 156kmph winds - but the pole clips pop off at less than 40kmph gusts and the tension straps for inner to outer go slack when the wind buffets and the outer then touches the inner so you have to keep attending to them. The high vent hasn't got enough velcro and the wind makes it open and then the rain comes in. Nice idea for a tent, that almost copies a Hilleberg akto, but not been thought through and tested adequately.
Hiya Ant, what's your thoughts on the Zeph 1 now after 12 months use? Asking as I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one any minute! All in all, its the right colour for stealth mode and seems about best specs for around the £100 quid mark and I don't really want to spend much more than that on a tent. Regards, Dazza.

thought twice - you were going to get your Kitten in the tent 😂. Nice review👍

Great review! Got this tent myself but have yet to use in it in "anger" for a wild camp!

Thanks for the double guy-rope tip! I'm definitely using that idea for a more stable set up :-)

I've been looking for a solo backpacking tent. Thanks for sharing. Really useful info. Thumbs up from Me.

Thanks for posting that Ant. Does a 65 litre sack and boots fit in the porch? and leave room to cook.... I want Harry Potter's tent :)
HI dude, question for you... What is the length of the folded poles as you can see them at around the start of the video?

What make are the yellow guy lines and how does it cope with bad weather without a bath tub?
