    This video still helps me today, watched it like 20 times and now I have to do carbs myself. What a great example

      good luck to you. Little tip: video yourself if you can, that way if you're unsure of which way to re-assemble, you can watch the steps back. One thing I've become wary of is clearing blocked pilot jets. You really need to unblock them using an exactly calibrated micro drill, slightly undersize. Cleaning them with a piece of steel cable can over bore them. If you can, replace the pilot jets as they are generally too small to clear accurately. Watch out for the cheap chinese kit's, the jets are often unmarked and unless you have a set of jet sizers, they might be the wrong size.

    I'm having problems with my Fazer's carbs after a long layoff so it looks like they'll be coming off for a cleaning, a job that I've been dreading. This video is the best one I've come across so far on the subject and has answered so many of the questions I had, it's been incredibly helpful - thank you!

    Brilliant stuff. I've just had mine off and thaught that the pilot jet was balnked off half way through and didnt go through incase I made it worse. Now I can get the carbs off again and clean the properly. If it wasn't for someone like you with a in depth breakdown of fazer carbs. I wouldnt of known any better. Youre a life saver.

      @@rhinotrikes its all trial and error chap. One of my air mixture screws has been mangled and broken by someone else who had the bike before me so guessing its frozen stuck. Any ideas it's on carb No 3. And have set the other 3 at 3 turns out as I think that's what they set them at in factory

      @@globalfallout7249 trying to remove the damaged air correcter screw will do more damage than leaving it as it is. Give it a bloody good clean with carb cleaner and compressed air. Take out one of the loose screws, make sure you remove the spring, the washer and the o ring, then blow through the screw thread side while covering the tiny needle hole in the manifold side of the carb, see which capillary the air exits, that's the hole you need to blast air and cleaner through on the screw you can't remove.

  • @kbrowney

    I removed the twist grip to get more slack, on reassembly found a small Allen key into carb hole which held the throttle open, easier to refit the awkward throttle cable.
    All my pilot jets blocked, one needed replacing, strand from wire brush would NOT go through it.
    Thanks for your video.

    Thanks for the video: very useful. One thing: at 57 minutes, you have the insert going in taper side first, but then change your mind, and put it flat side first. I think that was a mistake: when I dismantled mine they were definitely taper side first. I needed to use a straight pick to reinstall them cos they need to line up just right to get in.

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  Рік тому

      I'll have to watch the video back, might be an editing issue as I'm pretty sure the inserts wouldn't sit in properly the wrong way around.

    what did you end up setting the floats at as 14mm with mine is fully open

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  Рік тому

      You have to incline the carbs so that the float is just sitting on the spring of the needle valve, not depressing it. I made a cardboard template to sit on the flange and measure 14mm it was difficult to measure with the vernier alone so I made a squared off U shape which did the job.

    I'm going to have to take my carbs off due to cylinder 3 not firing, changed spark plugs, caps and both coil packs and its not happy, i haven't managed to watch the video until the end yet, is there any tools you'd recommend for making the job a bit easier?

    • @rhinotrikes

      A really good Phillips no 2 is a must, I use no 2 bits with a tiny ratchet, tap the bit into the screws with a small hammer first to seat them and break out the thread, helps to avoid cheeseing the screw heads. Make sure you have a good range of flat head screw drivers for the jets so you don't Muller them, a snapped off small paintbrush to push out the main jet emulsion tubes and some interdental brushes to clean your jets. You might need a length of 0 Bowden cable too, separate the strands to unblock your pilot jets. Happy hunting.

    • @northernrider780
      @northernrider780 7 місяців тому +1

      @rhinotrikes I've got a little jet unblocking kit thing with a range of different sizes on it, so should be good there, flat heads I've got, so I'll order a good no 2 Phillips, appreciate the reply and help!

    Cleaned my pilot jets refitted carbs, ran lovely for 30 seconds, revs ok, engine stopped like fuel starvation bow, someone mentioned air mixture jets often block and stop the engine running.
    Starts now runs rough for 15 seconds cuts out, checked fuel and spark both ok, even a direct fuel line was done.
    So air mixture jets blocked??

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  10 місяців тому +1

      If you mean the air corrector jets, these won't prevent the engine running, mostly going to effect idle. I would suspect something has been re-fitted incorrectly or you have a fuel blockage somewhere.

    • @kbrowney
      @kbrowney 10 місяців тому

      @@rhinotrikes thanks tried a direct fuel into carbs, after reassembly engine ran and reved ok, then it cut out like fuel starvation, weird one, thanks for the info, won't remove carbs

  • @timohamalainen7295
    @timohamalainen7295 8 місяців тому

    Hi, what is those hoses middle on carburetoros? I have broblem because on my bike, when i start engine one of hoses start leaking petrol a lot😢 and engine stall.

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  8 місяців тому

      I'm not sure which ones you mean but I guess it's the petrol feed tubes. If one is leaking, you won't be feeding fuel to one or both carbs on that side. It could also be the overflow pipes which would indicate a leaking float cut off valve, incorrect float height or a holed float

    I have an issue with my 2000 FZS600. rides fine at low speeds but when i get above 40-60ish at around 5k revs the engine just looses all power at a starts limping almost. Would you say this is carb related. I ran some redex through and it went away temporarily but has returned.

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  Рік тому

      I would start with new plugs. Could easily be carb related but I'd go with easier stuff first, tank filter, air filter, fuel tap. Usually with carb issues you'll have backfiring or leaking. If the redex shot cured it for a bit, I'd be looking at delivery to the carbs and possibly tank breathers. Lot of work to do carbs if that's not your issue

  • @bence.gabor.slezak
    @bence.gabor.slezak Рік тому

    You got that completely backwards. The carbs are upside-down in the video so the one on the left will be the highest when the bike is on the side stand, not that it matters since the fuel from the bowls won't drain into the other carbs. What goes in can only leave through the jets or the overflow.

  • @kbrowney
    @kbrowney Рік тому

    Maybe better to leave throttle cable and disconnected from hand throttle?

    • @rhinotrikes
      @rhinotrikes  Рік тому

      Going to make the carbs harder to split and fit into an ultrasonic cleaner so I think it's more sensible to disconect the cables from the carbs.

    • @kbrowney
      @kbrowney Рік тому +1

      @@rhinotrikes yes disconnected them, took off the twist throttle to gain slack, made it easier to get the back cable after moving the carbs almost out.
