Speaking of Haruna and Mari, they were both at a New Year party in January with about 200 other drummers in Tokyo. Haruna was hanging with other female drummers like Mari, Yuri of Gacharic Spin, Mizuki of East of Eden, and Junna now of Hagane. Hidehiro, whom Lovebites fans know as tech support for LB and as drummer on vocalist Asami's Christmas shows, was one of the organizers of the party. There are dozens and dozens of seasonal parties like that in Tokyo and many more in Osaka, Nagoya, and other cities. The point being that Japan has one of the largest music industries in the world, probably the largest when you consider it supports an endless number of pop/soft-rock idol groups not to mention enka singers and other solo vocalists of various genres, a deep underground scene, an enormous club circuit and 100s and 100s of bands in every conceivable genre to fill it, the huge anime/game/vocaloid scene (nothing comparable to which exists anywhere else), and an extremely large population of studio/session musicians. As always, narrowing the talent in Japan's music industry on any instrument down to several figures for a vdo on English-speaking y t is a challenge, but I guess this is an okay start for drummers.
Japan has the world's 2nd largest music market. You may be right about the largest music industry to go along with that market. Thanks to social media and UA-cam we can now discover these wonderful bands. The drummer party would have been awesome to be at. Haruna and Junna met each other for the first time ever. They both posted a photo together on their social media. The photo radiated kawaii. Probably the most kawaii photo ever. Junna joined Hagane. She will also be touring with Fate Gear in Canada with Haruna's ex-bandmate Captain Mina.
My favourite Japanese drummers are Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato and while they are technically jazz drummers, both of them have shown over the years also being capable of playing rock and metal as well when it was needed. I honestly think they can play whatever gets asked of them including sightreading it during the song like both of them have shown. Eg: ecently Senri played during Saki's solo concert and she was sightreading throughout the whole thing.
I started learning Japanese this year and so I started hearing jpop and anime was a great way to find these amazing bands. Kanade Soto is anazing! A lot if great female drummers and drummers over all. I love that they don't do it for social media/ views like a lot of girl drummers here in the States.
In this topic, you would better talk about Kozo Suganuma, drum teacher of Senri Kawaguchi. He called Tekazu-Oh(King of too many notes.) He played many Jazz, Fusion, Rock, Metal, Prog and Pops with highly technical drumming since teenager as a pro and also he taught many drummers. Drum teacher of Tam Murata was his desciple. His daughter, Satoko is also good drummer.
Yes! There are drummers who are faster than him, with more technical skills, but there are very few who are as much in the song as Akane. There's another one... Haruna... :)
Wow, nice, i never imagine there are so much talented drummers, most of them i never heard of. I think Dir En Grey's drummer is best, too. Recently i like the Drummer of Ave Mujica, Akane Yonezawa, i really like the drum beats which are really cool
Many japanese drummers male and female are just built different, many usually have years of experience under their belt before they finish university if they even go to university. the top flight drummers who are with bands who travel overseas for concerts and main event local japanese festivals or have their own national tours can put alot of western drummers to shame as they are always improving on how they play and what they do live and when they record.
There are many drummers with "Wow" factor but I love Akane's playful, creative and melodic style of drumming. So I definitely love Akane the most as a musician. But as a drummer, she may not be the most technical drummer out of those listed in the video. Me personally, Yoshiki seems to be the least versatile drummer and goes to the bottom of the list.
Yoshiki is still the best of the best drummers from Japan. He's such an awesome talent. Can't argue against any drummer on the list. Tamu looks like shoe could be one of the Little Rascals in the Our Gang comedies when she wears he baseball sideways. Not only is she a great metal drummer but also a great jazz drummer, too.
It would be best if you mentioned another 1st generation drummer. The late Higuchi Munetaka from the legendary metal band Loudness. He was a big influence on all future hard rock/ metal drummers including Yoshiki.
BRIDEAR の NATSUMI、TRiDENT の NAGISA、FATE GEAR の 森はるか、SAISEIGA の 桐子 も取り上げて下さい! Please also feature NATSUMI from BRIDEAR, NAGISA from TRiDENT, Haruka Mori from FATE GEAR, and Tohko from SAISEIGA !
Great video. I really appreciate you going into the history and featuring the current generation at the same time (and also not covering exclusively female musicians). Lots more drummers that could be mentioned of course, but since Akane and Tamu are both in this video, it's particularly worth highlighting the person who inspired both of them to start playing the drums, Nao Kawakita.
Akira Jimbo is something else. I love Casiopea! But my heart goes out to Tamu Murata, she can play anything, just check out her personal UA-cam channel. She's in a league of her own.
Great list and like you said at the end,, just scratching the surface of all the great drummers in Japan. I see that in part 2 you'll be covering Nao, a very special drummer that has inspired so many female drummers in Japan. Not sure if you're going to be doing Hideki Aoyama (the kami band) of Babymetal, but he would be a great choice as a metal drummers. Also Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato.
Great list of drummers, they are all extraordinary, for a second video I would recommend Nao Kawakita (Maximum The Hormone), Miki Tsunoda (Show-ya), Fumiya (Unlucky Morpheus) and my favorite japanese drummer Senri Kawaguchi.
My favourite drummer from Japan is actually Tatsuya Yoshida from Ruins, Koenjihyakkei, Korekyojinn and other projects. His music is very complex, but in a fascinating way. From the young generation, I am really fascinated by Junna's energetic style.
Thank you so much for highlighting these world-class drummers. This first installment has 4 of my very top favorites 🐺🌸🎀👑 I hope MARINA BOZZIO 🦋 is featured in a future edition. 🥁🏆
2:18 - that's Gorecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs he's soloing over, one of the most beautiful classical works ever composed. I wouldn't have expected soloing over it to work but somehow it does, and I still get the emotion of the piece.
Akira Jimbo of Casiopea was the first drummer who did drum solo before my eyes in their live back in 80s. They even record such a live after that. You guys can find it somewhere in YT. I can't escape from his drumming since. A maestro for me.
When I listen to these drummers, only a couple have any originality in their playing. I'm not saying they aren't talented, I just don't hear any new concepts being played. They all sound the same. IT almost sounds like they have listen to the same drummers from the start.
You have to look at jazz for that and even there it's mainly the older generation that still use it. Younger jazz drummers like Senri Kawaguchi and Kanade Sato don't typically use traditional grip any more either. I am sure they can play like that if needed, but I haven't seen a lot of it. Even in the West, you have Greyson Nekrutman who is a young jazz drummer who does use traditional grip for his jazz playing, but he nowadays also plays for Sepultura and he certainly doesn't use it there.
Only in Japan scene the comments full of simps . Denying the og like Yuki from Versailles, Galneryus drummer . Or that badass chick from Maximum the hormone. 🤣🤣🤣

Japanese female musicians are just extraordinary.
can't agree more

Otoboke, thank you for always contributing to the videos🫡🤘🔥
Someone had mentioned about the late Loudness drummer.
Don't forget Nao from Maximum the Hormone & Fumiya from Unlucky Morpheus.

Jimbo is so happy and relaxed too 😅 all these drummers are great! So many more drummers out there in Japan though.
Akane Hirose of Band-Maid is my number 1 drummer❤
YESSSSSSSSS..!!!
She's also my #1 favorite drummer.
That’s like saying Tommy Lee is a great drummer. What a joke.
@@TheRobsam That's like saying your opinion means something, what a joke.

러브바이츠 하루나는 신이다!
Kaho Kiss from Otoboke Beaver is incredible.
Hello. I introduce very young but infamous drummer.
Her name is
Kanon Miyazaki. She's member of new girlsmetalcore band dimrays.
How does Kaho Kiss from Otoboke Beaver rate?
The battle in the music world is not speeding up. But the melody makes it better
How can anyone make a list like this without the predecessor to them all... the great Stomu Yamash'ta?
Akane & haruna is definitely the strongest boss for all list.
Haruna!!🐺🤘
Akane.

In my opinion my top 3 female drummer
Aruto Aldious
Haruna Lovebites
Tamu Nemophila
Um ótimo baterista também é o Junji ex Siam Shade.
where is TETO from FOREGROUND ECLIPSE????????
Shinya(Dir en grey)
Akane has to be my favorite, but it's a shame Marina of Aldious had to retire
Awsome compilation! I'm waiting for the next episode 🙂👍

TATUSYA AMANO REFERNCED AHAHAHAHA
X-Japan drummer is Yoshiki, not Yashiki
Thank you

you must see nyangostar drum. she(?) is best
I'm impressed with Jimbo and Tamu, but my heart is with Akane.
