Aside from Dumbledore, I noticed The Fat Lady, Voldemort and Lavender...pretty much the obvious ones. Although I'm pretty sure Lavender was played by at least 2 different black girls before the white girl showed up, I only note this after seeing this video because I didn't know that the girl they showed here was supposed to be Lavender
To everyone who is saying Crabbe's actor got replaced, it is not true. It's a different character entirely, people. The guy who you think replaced Vincent Crabbe is actually Blaise Zabini, and he is a real character from the Harry Potter books. The actor who plays Crabbe got arrested and could no longer play his part, so they took another character from the books and had him step in as Draco's "groupie," alongside Goyle and Pansy. That character is Blaise. So for all who are confused about that.. there you go. (:
True but couldn't they have asked Goyle actor to act as Goyle and Crabbe at the same time like Lindsay Lohan did in The Parent Trap? Blaise could still show up too. And they forgot about Theo Nott whom was one of Draco's best friends and what about Tonks's parents who were left out?
Mizuka Young I'm guessing you didn't read the books, Crabbe and Goyle aren't brothers they are just friends so no they can't be turned into identical twins they didn't look anything alike. Theo Nott was an older student who had already graduated and become a Death Eater so I doubt he would be hanging around the school with Draco. He wasn't friends with Draco he let him on the quidditch (sp?)team because Lucius bought them new brooms.
hamie58 I did read the books yeah. I'm not saying twins I'm saying the actor could act as both characters even if they are just friends. Also Theo was sorted in the same year as Harry because I remember him getting sorted into Slytherin in the first book. Wiki says Theo prefers to be a lone but still very good friends with Draco and just doesn't take part of the group at all. Kinda like Blaise is a good friend of Draco but is just a minor character.
Pretty much. Unless you're one of those fans that takes note of every tiny detail you wouldn't even notice most of these changes because they are all minor roles. Dumbledore however was very noticeable. He is both a major character and the actors styles are completely different. It a rather jarring change.
His death was sad. But I was referring purely to the context of the movie not the reasons behind the actors replacement. I preferred Richard Harris in the role to be frank but we don't always get our preference.
John McDonald just a difference of opinions but i preffered Gambon as I cant imagine Harris falling in movie 6 and most of the time i couldnt understand what he was saying because it wa all hoarse
I didn't even realise the 2 Tom the Inkeeper's were the same character. Also, I wouldn't put Loki as nearly in the same league as Voldemort and definitely not the Joker and Darth Vader.
Yeah, I think you have to give the Avenger movies a few decades to collect dust before Loki can be thrust into such classic company as Vader and the Joker. Probably more than a few since he doesn't have a classic trait that makes him incredibly inconic. Voldemort only gets preferential treatment because Harry Potter novels became so ungodly popular (him being the badass Dark Lord and He Who Must Not Be Named also helps).
OJWH you kidding me? Loki is far superior to Voldemort. Voldemort was sort of a generic super villain who wanted to rule it all. He was magical Hitler or Stalin. Loki is a little more complex and a more interesting character
Jan Hůda It's not a top ten list... so there no limit, it could easily be 13. To say they didn't miss one would imply they deliberately left it out. For what reason? Is there a reason it has to be 12?
The reason is that the authors of the video chose there would be 12. They didn't define the upper limit - yes, it could be 13, but it could also be 60. They just chose those 12 for some reason, so they didn't necessarily miss this one, they just left him out (along with potential others)
Ralph Fiennes was the absolute best choice possible to play Voldemort. He was brilliant. Dumbledore played by Richard Harris was a more serious and fierce character than the one played by Michael Gambon. Sir Gambon was great, but Harris was better for the role. Pitty he died.
***** He wasn't as serious as Harris. And not because he could've acted differently but that's how he ussually is. Gambon was a funnier Dumbledore. At least that's giw I see it. Don't get me wrong, Michael Gambon is one of my favorite actors. It's just that Harris seemed like a harsher professor. Take the moment the troll got out of the dungeoun and everyone started freaking out, screaming. When Harris yelled "Silence", you felt the control and power in his voice, while the moment Gambon yelled "Silence" when everyone was revolted by the fact that no wizard under the age of 17 could participate to the Goblet of fire competition, wasn't as powerful as Harris's moment.
I felt Richard Harris portrayed Dumbledore so that he was immediately impressive, showing why so many people- Voldemort included- were a bit in awe of him. But at the same time he was still slightly dark and still and mysterious. I felt Michael Gambon was good but too loud and angry and a bit too scruffy. He would have made a better Aberforth. Such a shame that Richard Harris didn't get to see the character through to the end.
M.K That's why people have opinions. Harris would've been a more fearful opponent, from my point of view. It's not about the speed but the control you have over your power. Gambon, which I absolutely love (as I previously mentioned) is more of a funny grandpa, while Harris is a more strict and serious one. But what we do is contradict over something that's basically done. Harris is dead and Harry Potter has retired. lol. I'm sure Harris would've played Dumbledore to the end, had he not died.
M.K Tragic, I know. I rewatch the series once in a while. I love it so much. It's a series that will never age and will always be loved by those that watch it (book readers or not).
hygor bohm Hubner I literally was going to write this same comment and then I saw this hahaha glad I wasn't the only one who lost their shit right then
The actor who played Goyle sustained an injury and was temporarily replaced with a different character in the third movie. The actor who played Crabbe was busted for growing Marijuana in his mother's garden and wasn't allowed to reprise the role in the eighth film. Pavarti Patil was replaced after the third film I believe. Cedric Diggory was played by a different actor when his character was introduced in the third film. It was a non-speaking part where he played the Hufflepuff seeker in their quidditch match against Gryffindor. Robert Pattinson was cast for the role when it became larger in the fourth film. I'm Flitwick was played by the same actor but his appearance changed drastically after the second film, from an old man to one who looked to be in his late thirties/early forties. That's everything I know of that wasn't mentioned in this video.
Teenage Tom Riddle too. Frank Dillane took the part in Half-Blood Prince after Christian Coulson was deemed "too old" to reprise his role from Chamber of Secrets.
Personally, I'd remove Ultron and Mordo. The former, because even though James Spader is amazing, I think the characterization was just wrong, and the latter because we haven't seen enough of Mordo as an actual villain to give him any kind of ranking yet.
They kinda were. Jennifer Smith played a background character that was unnamed in the script and was just given a random name from the books for the credits. She was never cast specifically as Lavender Brown. When they had to cast a Lavender Brown, Joanne Rowling said Lavender's white.
Bob Feet I actually met Warwick Davis and he did a talk beforehand, somebody asked what happened to Flitwick. Quite funny really. Apparently Warwick had been told to get ready as the conductor (seen when Harry first gets into Hogwarts), but when he turned up in his conductor costume, he realised that the scenes they were filming were meant to be for Flitwick. He mentioned this to the director and he said 'well this is Flitwick from now on'. Funny how simple things like that can alter the course of a film series xD
JK Rowling actually said that she didn't like Flitwick's original appearance because it made him look too much like a dwarf, when he was just supposed to be a very short old man. His appearance changed to make him look more like what she had imagined.
Helen McCrory, who played Narcissa, was originally cast to play Bellatrix, but became pregnant shortly after her casting. The role was then given to Helena Bonham Carter :)
Gambon only started to get Dumbledore's character right at Half Blood Prince cos I still disliked his tendency to raise his voice in Order of the Phoenix and GoF though his acting was fine in PoA. His performance in Goblet was the opposite of the Dumbledore from the book
Gambon said that he refused to read up on how dumbledore appeared in the books since he wanted his own portrayal of him... damn bad choice in my opinion.
Dick Grayson Who gives a crap how you say it? Harris was an amazing actor, and he nailed Dumbledore in the first 2 films. They couldn't have found a better man than Gambon to replace him after his untimely death though. They were both great and i am happy to have them both in my heart as the faces of Dumbledore.
The guy who played Crabbe, Jamie Waylett, had a tendency to get caught for drug use again and again so they fired him and never replaced him with another actor in Crabbe's image, rather giving Blaise more lines and basically making him Crabbe's replacement
What about Tom Riddle. He was played by someone different in Chamber of Secrets to what he was in Half Blood Prince, (Not talking about the actor who played the kid version obviously) and yes I know he could have grown but he was pretty grown in Half Blood Prince so his appearance wouldn't have changed that much in the one or two years between HBP version and COS version.
Are you serious? 7 years between films, especially at a younger age, can change your appearance by quite a lot. Not to mention, Christian Coulson in Chamber of Secrets was around 23 at time of filming, and so acting as a teenager in around 2008 would mean he would've been 30 YEARS OLD. It was the most obvious choice to recast. Besides, Frank Dillane was a creepy Tom Riddle and as such mirrors the creepy adult Voldemort in almost every way.
Ben Pearce, I think you're bit wrong bout the actor. The actor who played Tom Marvolo Riddle in HP and The Chamber Of Secrets was Christian Coulson. Not the one you stated up there. That Nick was from the HP and The Half Blood Prince.
Lavender was changed because they weren't sure if she was supposed to be black or white in skin colour so when jk Rowling told them she was white, they changed her
+Lulu There's social and political commentary (in the form of subtext) all throughout the books. The fact that she leans left shouldn't be new to you or anyone else.
R.I.P Richard Harris:( You were an outstanding actor we love and miss you dearly. AKA Dumbledore. As for Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes did a much better job the original actor HANDS DOWN.
What about Crabbe or Goyle? I remember seeing a video that said one of the two was replaced with a black guy because the original actor was caught doing drugs or something.
Hi, you missed Hermione's parents. Hermione's mom is played by Heather Bleasdale in Chamber of Secrets, while in Deathly Hallows P1, she is played by the much more recognizable Michelle Fairly from Game of Thrones. Her dad is played by Tom Knight in CoS, but is later replaced by Ian Kelly in DH P1.
That was because the real crabbe was arrested as he was in the London riots and was caught with drugs. They never replaced his character just used blaise or whatever the other boy is called
LilliCherry that was Blaise Zabini, another character. And btw, dumb me, i just found out that the new "Goyle" is listed simply as "Slytherin Boy" in the cast
Pretty sure the choir director in Prisoner of Azkaban was supposed to be a completely different character. Too many people were confused so they just merged that character with Flitwick.
Let's not forget how the Creevey brothers were essentially replaced by "Nigel" in the films. You could argue that he is a different person completely, but he has essentially the same personality as them and after COS Colin is never seen again and Dennis is never even introduced. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
*throws harry into some cabinet things* HARRY DIDJA PUT YO NAME IN THE GOBLETOF FIRE??? ANSWER ME!! ARE YOU SURE YOURE TELLING THE TRUTH???!?!?!! vs "harry, did you put your name in the goblet of fire?" asked Dumbledore CALMLY.
While it was a change... it really wasn't bad. God forbid an actor twist the character a little to personalize him and mix with the character to make it more fluid. But yes, let us shit on a very well played actor for 10 seconds of a scene that really is overblown.
+Miles NorrisDavis It isn't only that quote, there’s also: - "SILENCE!!!!" - "HARRY POTTER!!!!!!" - IT DOESN'T HELP, ALASTOR!" - "QUICKLY!!!!" - "IS HE IN THIS ROOM?!!" And in the sequel, we've got the infamous "DON'T YOU HAVE STUDYING TO DO?!" Gambon's Dumbledore several times comes off as incredibly angry and someone who doesn't care about his students, or someone who tries too hard to be authoratitive, whereas Harris was the more calm and wise one that you just respected because he had a natural authority and only yelled when absolutely necessary (His delivery of "Silence" in the first movie for example, which didn't come off as bombastic and raspy). Gambon sounds like he might as well could have portrayed Vito Corleone as shouty and angry, and that simply doesn’t work.
What?? I cant believe you made a video about this and didn't include young Tom Riddle! To me that was the weirdest change ever between Chamber of Secrets and Half-Blood Prince.
Scott Fern never played Flint. He was Adrian Pucey from the beginning. You can even see Jamie Yeates quite clearly in the first movie. Really, I have no idea how this guy screwed that up. Especially since he most certainly would've had to look up at least one of the two to know who they were and who they played.
Mer Feraine omg i'm stupid😂 but apparently they know how to let ppl look younger or older because either tom of the 6th movie had a younger brother who could play 11 year old tom, or it was all the same actor once looking like 11 and once looking like 16
Actually, they were different actors in HBP (and yes, different from the one in CS too). The youngest one, who played 11-year-old Tom, is actually related to Ralph Fiennes (his nephew, I think), who, of course, played 70 something, dark-magically-re-embodied Tom. Basically, Tom Riddle / Moldywarts was the most recast character, because he appeared in very different ages in nearly all the movies. He was played by five different actors.
Vader, Joker, even LOKI?! Dude, what? Loki? Mentioned in the same cathegory/sentence with Vader (one of the greatest movie villains/characters of all time) and Joker (popculture icon and Ledger's portrayal was phenomenal!) is absurd! Loki belongs the same pool with Kylo Ren and other foolish, ridiculous, backfiring bitches. He is not even remotely interesting, intimidating or versatile. (none of them is Hiddleston's fault as far as I see, he's done his best with an absolute garbage character, written exceptionally poorly).
Gábor Szabó I agree Loki shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as either of those two, however, Kylo Ren and Loki are both damn interesting characters; just not on the same league of Joker or Vader.
Well, since it's pronounced "Hell-eh-nah" in the movies, I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to be pronounced as :P Or atleast for in this video, as it is about the movies. If it was about the books, however, I would give you a point for pointing that out ;P
The actor wasnt exchanged, but the Character himself. The guy who you thought to be Crabbe was actually called Blaise. So it didnt quite fit into the vid
***** Interesting, you aint the first person I hear complaining about Dumbledore's performance, but you are the first I hear disliking Voldermort's. I guess I'll find out one day once I've read the books.
***** I also heard that years ago XD at the point that if you read them you don't enjoy the movies anymore. And I like those movies and promised myself to never read them, 'cause they are 7 lol But now 3 things happened: 1. I got a girlfriend.. 2. My girlfriend just became a massive fan of Harry Potter. 3. I started buying her all the books. And I can't read those books until she finishes them all lol
MCTV Chris The actor who portrayed the 15 year old Tom in Chamber was not able to portray a 15 year old Tom in Half Blood Prince due to the number of years which had passed between the making of the two films. The actor who played the younger 10-11 year old Tom at the orphanage before going to Hogwarts in Half Blood Prince was the nephew of Ralph Fines, which explains the family resemblance between the two Toms at the different ages (young Tom & older Voldemort).
You left out Tom Riddle. In the Chamber he was totally hot but in the Half-Blood Prince he didn't look like how I imagined him, as he didn't really have such handsome features (as described in the books)
Sydney Clifford obviously it's because he is old and evil now even if tb hey kept the actor he would've had his face covered up with the makeup an prosthetics
Jeez I mean in the memories when he was still a student. Of course he looks different as Lond Voldemort, but I was refering to Tom Riddle's Memory from the Chamber of Secrets and the Memories of him that Dumbledore and Harry visit in the Half-Blood-Prince
if Lavender Brown would have stayed black, everyone would complain that the only black character in the movies is a complete weirdo. Lesson in life: stupid people are never satisfied.
lavender Brown wasn't the only black character though. and i think it's worse changing the actress from black to white is way worse than having a black character be "a weirdo" as you put it. that's just how the character is supposed to be in the story.
chase1146 The duel and the firewheel might have been more surprising, as Gambons performance was generally more energetic. Personally, my ideal Dumbledore performance would be a combination of both.
I agree with ajmrowland, Harris portrays the calm nature of Dumbledore a lot better while Gambon shows that Dumbledore is truly powerful and not just an old man
harris portrays the calm nature? he doesn't need to be energetic for the first and second movie. however remember the time when he shouted "SIlence!" in chamber of secrets? I was really looking forward seeing him in battle mode. So sad that he passed away. He will always be my Dumbledore.
If Richard Harris never died, then the Dumbledore in the movies would've been more true to the Dumbledore from the novels. I personally like Richard Harris better as Dumbledore.
Does anyone else wish they could have witnessed Richard Harris continue to play Dumbledore for the rest of the movies? I mean Michael Gambon did a spectacular job but I've always felt that Harris truly had an edge when it to representing the Dumbledore portrayed in the books. Imagine the duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the order of the phoenix or when Dumbledore drinks the potion in half-blood prince and fights off the inferi. It would've been amazing to witness in my opinion
Yes. Richard Harris was and always will be Dumbledore for me. Up to this day I'm not fully convinced of Gambon. I'm not saying he did a bad job, but there were scenes (especially the "DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE???" one) I just didn't like the way he portrayed the role. I would have loved seeing Richard Harris own the role in all eight movies.
Richard Harris was the kind grandfather. Michael Gambon brought more action and power to the role, but I agree, Richard Harris was the best to play Dumbledore.
As much as I agree that the characterization of Dumbledore was off in Goblet of Fire and after, I still think the best portrayal of him in any of the movies was Gambon in Prisoner of Azkaban. That bit at the end when Hermione says, "We did it!" and he slyly says, "Did what? Good night.." and walks away humming to himself is the most book Dumbledore moment in the film series to me.
I didn't have a problem with them replacing her but to pretend it was the same person as movies 1 & 2 was insulting. They should have given her another name. That would have been more acceptable.
>Fans didn't like first two HP movies What? First two movies were the most faithful to its source material. I admit that 3rd one is pretty good, despite not having a Harry Potter feel at all, but after that... all following movies were just an excuse to slap HP name on something.
It could be factors of inexperienced child actors and the less interesting story of how things set up for an amazing story later. I like the the first two, but I do think they're less interesting than when **** hits the fan and we understand the mechanics of the world. Chamber was my least favorite book anyway.
Yes, I'm not that big on two first books either, to be honest. I still like them, but they work better when you're a child. But books changed and evolved, they found their own ground, while movies went into COMPLETELY different direction from books. I like Harry Potter because of how complex and engaging 4-7 parts are. And movies have pretty much nothing to do with all that awesomeness, raping the soul out of its source material.
So when you change any other actor/actress it is normal but suddenly when you say someone is black there is a problem? No, they just changed cause she had more experience.
actually they changed it becasue in the original books it was not defined what the Lavender Brown character looked like, so they just cast a black actor becasue.....I don't know she had the surname Brown? but when she had a more central role later on in the books she was confirmed to actually be white and so they recast her.
Phantom1op Yeah, I'm totally agreeing with you. I just hate the fact that he tried to make them look like racist or something, like..no, they just recast her just like ANY other actress or actor.
but it is a bit stupid of them to recast her as a different race. Especially since there werent many nom white actors in Harry Potter to begin with. But the same goes for one of Malfoy's friends: used to be white and in the end he was suddenly black.
+Kim Sascha oh that guy was actually Blaise, I think the guy that portrays Crabbe cannot be in the film so they kind of used another character as an alternative. Well, in the book it says Crabbe so it makes a lot of confusion when in the movie it was Blaise Zabini.
1:03 So changing a Black Character into white is controversy and racist, but changing a white Character into black not? Well, i have a better Idea: Just don´t change any ethnicity or Sex of a Character and let him be what he originally is! It´s the easiest Thing in the whole fucking World. We don´t need a black Nick Fury and also not a white Shaft. Like also we don´t need a Wonder-Man instead of Wonder-Woman, so also not female Ghostbusters instead of the originals.
Alexander Eddy No Problem, it´s your own Opinion! I´m just strictly in Movies, Games and that. When I see an original Character (no Matter if Female, Male, Black or White, etc.) then I absolutely don´t like when they are changed later. Even if the Hair- or Eyecolor is changed later, then it´s just like ruining the Character in my Opinion.
Crabbe got replaced with Draco's other friend Blaise in the final movie, because Crabbe's actor Jamie Waylett got arrested for possession and distribution of Marujuana- and he later got 2 years in prison for taking part in the London riots while armed with a petrol bomb.
It wasn't actually replaced though. No one ever replaced Jamie Waylett in portraying Vincent Crabbe. The character of Crabbe simply gone and they introduced Blaise Zabini (who's actually also mentioned in the book), portrayed by Louise Cordice. So although his character is introduced in place of Crabbe, Cordice isn't actually replacing Waylett in portraying Crabbe.
their must always be a teacher on the train since according to book 5 the prefects and Headboy/girl go to the Prefect's carriage on he train to be brief about their job I guess they're told the first password then and I guess during the year they found out from a teacher (the new password..
The actor for Aberforth changed as well. Can’t remember the names of either, but the non-speaking Aberforth In Prisoner of Azkaban is not the same as the speaking Aberforth in Deathly Hallows.
+Ynse Schaap No, they took out Crabbe altogether. The black students is Zabini Blaise, Draco called him by name in the film and he had been in the books. They had to take out Crabbe because his actor was arrested for drug abuse.
I would of preferred Ian McKellen to take over the role of Dumbledore since he did do a good version of the Wizard Gandolf. Besides Ian's Gandolf character is often mistaken as Dumbledore.
Yeah as well as the Gringotts banker in the Philosopher's Stone and a ministry official in Order of the Phoenix but he didn't play Griphook until the Deathly Hallows pt2.
It was just a different person, the actor for Crabbe became a drug addict I think, it was something like that, so they couldn't re-cast him. In the last two movies Draco hung around with Zabini instead I think.
Nice to know somebody else on the movie staff pictured Lavender Brown as a black girl. It was never specified but I always pictured her as a black girl.
Why does he keep saying 45,000 sequels. There were the 8 movies (7 sequels) and then mysterious beasts what happened to the other 44,992 sequels??? So confused
I know the characters. I read all the books years ago. I just can't guess which character in the book each background character in the movie is supposed to represent when all you get is a couple of scenes with them sitting at a table with other characters.
I just ignored all the names and everything when reading the books. I didn't even notice Dumbledore's change at first, just that he looked different on the prizoner. I guess I'm a bad person.
Professor Flickwick has been replaced. it was very weird because when he apears again in goblet of fire I was who the F is that? where'd he come from? and then in the Order of the Phoenix game it asked me to go and see Professor Flickwick and I was like 'IS THAT SUPOSED TO BE FLICKWICK!? THE OLD TINY MAN WITH A GRAY BEARD SUDDENLY TURNED LIKE SUPER MUCH YOUNGER WTH!?"
the first Voldemort was so bland I'm thankful for Ralph Fiennes. same with the first Dumbledore. He was too cute, too grandfather. When the shit started to get serious, the new Dumbledore played masterfully as the Most Powerful Wizard. would you believe the first Dumbledore as a man willing to kill for the Elder wand? I don't think so...
+David Dagnino Fiennes' Voldemort sounds and acts like he's at a retirement home, or like a bad impression of Brando's Vito Corleone, and his laughs and mannerism are anything but intimidating
I love how there was no "controversy" when a large number of white characters from the books were replaced with black actors/actresses for no reason, but even replacing ONE of them back was somehow "the most 'racist' thing that ever happened".
Anyone else actually prefer Voldy from the first film to his later portrayal? Fiennes is an excellent actor but I just don't think his portrayal was scary enough.
I also like Voldemort in the 1st movie a lot more (John Williams' music contributes a lot to it as well); Fiennes in the last two movies sounds like a dying old man, and his portrayal in the 4th and 5th movie is just decent
what about professor flitwick? in the first movies he was this weird little old gremmlin'ish dude with a beard and then (i think) since the fourth movie he just got to be like 100 years younger and has black hair and is wearing glasses
MoaisNotmyname I've googled it and Warwick Davies himself has explained why. Doesn't really make much sense in my opinion as I don't see why the reason has to affect his appearance but whatever haha. "Could you possibly give us an insight as to why Flitwick’s look was changed for the third HP movie?” Warwick Davis: Yes…so many of you have asked me the ‘New look Flitwick’ question, so I will answer it here, once and for all. When it came time to shoot Azkaban, there was no mention of Flitwick in the script. However, the producer still wanted me to be in the movie so he asked if I would play the role of Choir Master. Of course, I said yes. When it came time to shoot Goblet of Fire the director, Michael Newell, said he liked the look of the choir master, and from that moment, the character became known as ‘Flitwick’. And that’s all there is to it. Not that interesting really, is it?" So there you go haha.
CastleFlameGal Huh! Well, that's still rather strange... They should have known by then how huge their fanbase was and that people would notice. But anyway, thanks for explaining!!
Anyone else here only noticed Dumbledore change and never noticed or even cared about the rest
GuardRifleGuy He died after the second movie(actor)
Eames Trinh True, but....
DID YOU PUT YO NAME IN THE GOBLET!!!!!!????
That is an unforgivable curse.
GuardRifleGuy Same, I did notice the fat lady though.
You kniw Richard Harris died before the third movie that's why they replaced Dumbledore.
Wow,Thanks a lot! I was bothered by this stuff since i noticed it ^^ Now i can rest in peace.
He was arrested for drug possession and Warner bros. didn't want it associated with the film.
Only person of any importance that I noticed was Dumbledore.
Pretty much. Unless you're one of those fans that takes note of every tiny detail you wouldn't even notice most of these changes because they are all minor roles. Dumbledore however was very noticeable. He is both a major character and the actors styles are completely different. It a rather jarring change.
John McDonald I guess for the actor dying was a more jarring change.

Monique C. They can’t change him??
I hope you know he died.
Well at least Alan lived through all the movies and played them before he died
@@alpeolpa437 he isn't dead idiots he's just resting he'll be back
0v0 Dashawn really? Don’t joke
That Voldemort laugh killed me. He should've just laughed at Harry Potter as an infant instead of cursing him.
I didn't even realise the 2 Tom the Inkeeper's were the same character.
Also, I wouldn't put Loki as nearly in the same league as Voldemort and definitely not the Joker and Darth Vader.
i think it was a joke ;)
Yeah, I think you have to give the Avenger movies a few decades to collect dust before Loki can be thrust into such classic company as Vader and the Joker. Probably more than a few since he doesn't have a classic trait that makes him incredibly inconic. Voldemort only gets preferential treatment because Harry Potter novels became so ungodly popular (him being the badass Dark Lord and He Who Must Not Be Named also helps).
Play a game of SMITE and you'll see Loki in a whole new light
OJWH you kidding me? Loki is far superior to Voldemort. Voldemort was sort of a generic super villain who wanted to rule it all. He was magical Hitler or Stalin. Loki is a little more complex and a more interesting character
OJWH I didn't know the hunchback was Tom the Innkeeper either. I thought he was casted as an original character.
You miss one... Jim McManus to Ciarán Hinds as Aberforth Dumbledore. I guess Doge was right... everyone forgets about Aberforth.
BioCapsule He also didn't talk about voice performances for Griphook and Voldemort in PS.
ajmrowland Err... he did, I think for those the live actors supersede the voice.
They didn't miss one, the title says 12 HP actors who were replaced, not All HP actors who were replaced. And yes, I'm fun at parties
It never occurred to me that Lavender was recast. It was never clear in the movies.
Michael Curd I didn't even know she was Lavender Brown until I saw a video a month back!
Yeah same
Ralph Fiennes was the absolute best choice possible to play Voldemort.
Most complaints I've read about Michael Gambon is that he's TOO serious and fierce...
6:03 that laugh killed me. I wasn't expecting it
probably the best single cut since the blown-out candle from Lawrence Of Arabia :D
I died. So perfect
hygor bohm Hubner I literally was going to write this same comment and then I saw this hahaha glad I wasn't the only one who lost their shit right then
dat laugh do
Eh he hehe!
Who noticed that the first Voldemort had a nose
Melissa Fuerst Mee
me
Melissa Fuerst he also had red eyes but then when Ralph Fiennes played Voldemort he didn't have red eyes
Harry Potter cut off his nose with a sword watch the movies people
Squirrel Squad yes who could forget
The actor who played Goyle sustained an injury and was temporarily replaced with a different character in the third movie.
The actor who played Crabbe was busted for growing Marijuana in his mother's garden and wasn't allowed to reprise the role in the eighth film.
Pavarti Patil was replaced after the third film I believe.
Cedric Diggory was played by a different actor when his character was introduced in the third film. It was a non-speaking part where he played the Hufflepuff seeker in their quidditch match against Gryffindor. Robert Pattinson was cast for the role when it became larger in the fourth film. I'm
Flitwick was played by the same actor but his appearance changed drastically after the second film, from an old man to one who looked to be in his late thirties/early forties.
That's everything I know of that wasn't mentioned in this video.
Also Seamus Finnigan, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy and Dudley Dursley where replaced by other actors during the movies.
Night Warrior what
Teenage Tom Riddle too. Frank Dillane took the part in Half-Blood Prince after Christian Coulson was deemed "too old" to reprise his role from Chamber of Secrets.
Night Warrior Draco Malfoy was replaced? What when?
@@nightwarrior2949 what how did they get replaced where when?
12 Harry Potter Actors Who Were Replaced In The Sequels that you don't really give a shit about nor noticed, but Dumbledore.
Plankt0nify don't forget crab in the last movie
lol yea
Plankt0nify yh definetly dumblebdoor
Plankt0nify i noticed that there were different dumbledores though out the whole series

please just be a joke, and not implying that Loki is any where near as iconic as Darth Vader and the Joker.
Raptormann0205 Eh, whatever. Loki doesn't have much competition in the Marvel Universe. But you're right that he is not iconic.
He does, though.
Kingpin, Killgrave, Ultron, Zemo and now Mordo. They all were just as good as Loki, if not better.
What competition does Loki have for iconography from the Marvel Universe? Um...Spiderman...Iron man...Captain America...
I like Loki better than Thor thats for sure
Personally, I'd remove Ultron and Mordo. The former, because even though James Spader is amazing, I think the characterization was just wrong, and the latter because we haven't seen enough of Mordo as an actual villain to give him any kind of ranking yet.
I liked this video for the soul reason that Voldemort laughed at Voldemort.

For your next video, maybe do the 'Top Ten Name Pronunciations Butchered by Simon Miller'
heleena ravenclaw haha
Guy Smith how would you pronounce it?
Like they pronounced it in the movie
+Ajuna Braunschweiger
Mac Ready......Fuck off, Simon.
Georgina Lee-own-deenas
Leonidas, dude. Like, 300. It's the main character. Even if you don't know history, your job is culture commentary.
I honestly thought that Jennifer Smith's background character and Lavander Brown were separate characters. Maybe my memory is just fuzy.
nah shes listed as lavender brown in the credits
Oh, just saying though.
+Jessy Starmore Maybe there are 2 lavender browns o.o
They kinda were. Jennifer Smith played a background character that was unnamed in the script and was just given a random name from the books for the credits. She was never cast specifically as Lavender Brown. When they had to cast a Lavender Brown, Joanne Rowling said Lavender's white.
SelvesteSand
but lavender is purply blue D:
I liked the original Fat Lady better :)
Me too)
Same
Same:(
The actress is dead.
marielephant1 prefer the new one
Um yea, Daniel Radcliffe played Harry in the first 4 movies, but then Elijah Wood played harry in 5-7. How did you guys miss that?
Martin Greigh Sorry m8 Harry Potter has always been played Daniel Radcliffe
Martin Greigh Yeah Daniel has always been Harry
Obviously Polyjuice potion.
...
lol it's a joke because Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood look a lot alike
You missed Crabbe becoming a black guy in the last 2 movies
Matthew Waterton wait, WHAT?
he doesn't, thats a completely different character, Blaise Zabini
Matthew Waterton that. wasn't. Crabbe
Matthew Waterton that's a different person though.......right?
+Matthew Waterson. He didn't. That was Blaise Zabini. Crabbe couldn't appear because the actor was in prison for drugs.
Filius flitwick? He looks like some kind of deranged troll thing in the first two movies and looks completely different in the next 6!
Bob Feet lol
ChoccyMonster16 oh lol
JK Rowling actually said that she didn't like Flitwick's original appearance because it made him look too much like a dwarf, when he was just supposed to be a very short old man. His appearance changed to make him look more like what she had imagined.
he does have some goblin blood in him
Ralph Finnes isnt pronounced like Ralf. Its Rafe.
Weyoun VI and he has said he prefers Ray.
which makes sense
Micro Batman ... yes?
Helen McCrory, who played Narcissa, was originally cast to play Bellatrix, but became pregnant shortly after her casting. The role was then given to Helena Bonham Carter :)
Perfect casting for both of these ladies. Helena aka Bellatrix almost perfectly fits Rowlings book description.
Gambon only started to get Dumbledore's character right at Half Blood Prince cos I still disliked his tendency to raise his voice in Order of the Phoenix and GoF though his acting was fine in PoA. His performance in Goblet was the opposite of the Dumbledore from the book
Agree 100%
Ghost Dragon HARRAY! DID YAH PUT YAH NAME IN DAH GOBLET OF FIYAH??????
That's more likely to do with the director and screen writer than the actor though.
Gambon said that he refused to read up on how dumbledore appeared in the books since he wanted his own portrayal of him... damn bad choice in my opinion.
too right it was
Richard Harris doesn't count... he died, it's not like they didn't like his acting.
And don't forget the lenses, which were usually (but not always) missing!
He still got replaced, so technically it still counts.
MCTV Chris lets just say someone will finish what he started instead using the word "replaced"
If Ian Mckellen wasnt already Gandalf, he would have been a good choice for Dumbledore.
YOU ARENT EVEN GONNA INCLUDE GOYLE
THAT WAS HUGE. CRABBE AND GOYLE WERE KNOWN AS DRACO'S FAT SIDEKICKS AND THE 6th MOVIE SHIT ON THAT IDEA
The guy who played Crabbe, Jamie Waylett, had a tendency to get caught for drug use again and again so they fired him and never replaced him with another actor in Crabbe's image, rather giving Blaise more lines and basically making him Crabbe's replacement
alex scott The black guy was playing Blaise lmao
Oh Blaise was such a minor character before then so I didn't really think about it
Hamza Agha he was killed off in the last movie.
alex scott I know right how'd you leave out that
😂 omg I'm dieing. 6:01 "to be a weird gross in the back of a professor's head"
"eeh he he!"
Stephanie Mathias he said growth
growth not gross you mong
What about Tom Riddle. He was played by someone different in Chamber of Secrets to what he was in Half Blood Prince, (Not talking about the actor who played the kid version obviously) and yes I know he could have grown but he was pretty grown in Half Blood Prince so his appearance wouldn't have changed that much in the one or two years between HBP version and COS version.
Your right
Connor the Bacon
I find your theory
Lavender was changed because they weren't sure if she was supposed to be black or white in skin colour so when jk Rowling told them she was white, they changed her
Then why wasn't Hermione re-cast to be black? JK Rowling's own words lol
+Lulu There's social and political commentary (in the form of subtext) all throughout the books. The fact that she leans left shouldn't be new to you or anyone else.
In the books it's actually never mentioned if she's black or white.
Charlie many things arent mentioned in the books. Nevertheless jk Rowling did think of them without publishing them (at first)
Um the original fat lady actress passed away...that's why she was replaced...
Yes, a little googling would have helped them know THAT much.
She died in 2008, Prisoner of Azkaban was filmed in 2003 and released in 2004.
R.I.P Richard Harris:( You were an outstanding actor we love and miss you dearly. AKA Dumbledore. As for Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes did a much better job the original actor HANDS DOWN.
hal9001 games that is the name If the character she played, her character was called "the fat lady"!
+Death Reaper Um, she didn't call her ugly...
6:04
VOLDEMORT LAUGHING IN THAT CLIP IS HYSTERICAL 😆😆😆
What about Crabbe or Goyle? I remember seeing a video that said one of the two was replaced with a black guy because the original actor was caught doing drugs or something.
The actor was replace, but he didn't play Crabbe. They made up a random character name for the movies after the guy who played crabbe got arrested
Yeah, I worded it wrong, I meant to say he was replaced by a somewhat minor character from the books
Demonic Squirrel Gaming that was Blaise Zabini...
Demonic Squirrel Gaming e
Crabbe's actor was arrested for beating up a police officer in a riot in London a few months before they started filming... fun fact.
Teresita I'm reading chamber of secrets
ive read all of then 9x over
Teresita what about Filius Flitwick. He was changed twice I believe. I do not know the actors though
Nathan Susko I think Warwick Davis is already on the list friend.
Flitwick was not changed, it's the same actor, he just looks differently.
One of the 2 Friends of Draco Malfoy
That was because the real crabbe was arrested as he was in the London riots and was caught with drugs. They never replaced his character just used blaise or whatever the other boy is called
Blaise Zabini
actually Goyle was also replaced, he was played by another actor in TPOA than in the first two movies :-)
Jeppe Riis and he is replaced with a guy with a different skin colour. As with Lavender, that's confusing
LilliCherry that was Blaise Zabini, another character. And btw, dumb me, i just found out that the new "Goyle" is listed simply as "Slytherin Boy" in the cast
What about the two actresses that played Angelina Johnson?
Luna Lovegood exactly
Yeaaaah I know right at fiets She is white and then in the fourth movie I believe so she is black😂😂lol
Crabbe Was Eliminated from the Series Not Replaced...
What about Crabbe? He was arrested for drug charges and was replaced with a black actor in the last couple films. He didn't even have any lines :/
Fabian Guerrero crabbe wasn't replaced, only a new character added.
Fabian Guerrero the one Black guY was Named blaise zabini, another slytherin Who was also in the slug club
I could have sworn he was replaced. It was weird seeing G at Draco's side and not C.
Thank you Jila and Susanne
Goyle got all Crabbe's lines, and the "black guy" aka Blaise Zabini got all Goyle's lines.
Blaise Zabini was NOT the same character as Vincent Crabbe, so that doesn't fit the category, anyway.
Flitwick...not sure of they changed actors but they definitely changed his look
+Robert Snider
It's the same actor, so it doesn't count
Still, that was the dumbest change they ever made. Flitwick in the first movie is like 1497 years old and then 2 years later he's about 45.
I like the version of flitwick with the cool mustache better
I agree i have NO idea why they changed the professor. But yes it was the same actor.
Pretty sure the choir director in Prisoner of Azkaban was supposed to be a completely different character. Too many people were confused so they just merged that character with Flitwick.
Wait... 42 movies? I need to catch up.
Ikr it's like 8?
Static - Agar.io lol yeah whats thats all about i only know there to be 8 lol
You y'all really think he was serious lmao
That joke is only funny when there are actually a lot of movies. Now it is just a dumb statement.
it was a cheesy joke
Let's not forget how the Creevey brothers were essentially replaced by "Nigel" in the films. You could argue that he is a different person completely, but he has essentially the same personality as them and after COS Colin is never seen again and Dennis is never even introduced. Coincidence?
I THINK NOT.
Richard Harris would have delivered "That Line" calmly!
+Miles NorrisDavis
It isn't only that quote, there’s also:
- "SILENCE!!!!"
- "HARRY POTTER!!!!!!"
- IT DOESN'T HELP, ALASTOR!"
- "QUICKLY!!!!"
- "IS HE IN THIS ROOM?!!"
And in the sequel, we've got the infamous "DON'T YOU HAVE STUDYING TO DO?!"
Gambon's Dumbledore several times comes off as incredibly angry and someone who doesn't care about his students, or someone who tries too hard to be authoratitive, whereas Harris was the more calm and wise one that you just respected because he had a natural authority and only yelled when absolutely necessary (His delivery of "Silence" in the first movie for example, which didn't come off as bombastic and raspy). Gambon sounds like he might as well could have portrayed Vito Corleone as shouty and angry, and that simply doesn’t work.
SwiftPotter I know right "Harry did you put your name in the goblet of fire?" Professor Dumbledore asked calmly
What?? I cant believe you made a video about this and didn't include young Tom Riddle! To me that was the weirdest change ever between Chamber of Secrets and Half-Blood Prince.
Sarah Shaw tom riddle was alot younger in half blood price
I understand why it happened, but I just didn't like the new Tom Riddle :/
agreed! but the guy from chamber of secrets was perfect. exactly how i pictured tom riddle.
I think that was supposed to be a younger tom anyway
Was looking for this :)
The joker has been changed every bat man movie
So has Batman!!!
Heidi Myers wrong.
you forgot the actor who played tom riddle in the 2nd movie was replaced by someone else in the 6th movie. (i don't know their names)
Glori Because of age issues... I think Tom was supposed to be younger in those later films
Mer Feraine omg i'm stupid😂 but apparently they know how to let ppl look younger or older because either tom of the 6th movie had a younger brother who could play 11 year old tom, or it was all the same actor once looking like 11 and once looking like 16
but still he was recast
Actually, they were different actors in HBP (and yes, different from the one in CS too). The youngest one, who played 11-year-old Tom, is actually related to Ralph Fiennes (his nephew, I think), who, of course, played 70 something, dark-magically-re-embodied Tom. Basically, Tom Riddle / Moldywarts was the most recast character, because he appeared in very different ages in nearly all the movies. He was played by five different actors.
Sara Maurício wow the two in HBP look almost identical in my opinion
Gábor Szabó Loki is based of the god of mischief so yes he is in fact more famous and known than most villians
Gábor Szabó Loli>Joker
to be honest neither would be the joker, at last the ledger's joker, is more amazing the joker from Nicholson
Gábor Szabó I agree Loki shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as either of those two, however, Kylo Ren and Loki are both damn interesting characters; just not on the same league of Joker or Vader.
It's pronounced 'Hell-eh-nah,' Not 'Hay-Lee-Nah.'
MillySee depends on what country your in reallu
He also said Ralph at the end, when it's pronounced Raif, apparently xd
Well, since it's pronounced "Hell-eh-nah" in the movies, I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to be pronounced as :P Or atleast for in this video, as it is about the movies. If it was about the books, however, I would give you a point for pointing that out ;P
Lyric Chains just because you have a different accent doesn't mean you should butcher someone's name
Also Goyle (Draco malfoys friend) was changed I think In the 6th or 7th film because that actor was sent to jail
Pretty sure that was Crabbe not Goyle
The actor wasnt exchanged, but the Character himself. The guy who you thought to be Crabbe was actually called Blaise. So it didnt quite fit into the vid
This is a real slytherin and deatheater!
Crabbe got sent to Jail
Ralph Fiennes was PERFECT for Voldemort
Who would be better than Ralph fiennes may I ask?
+1993DJC why you say that?
***** Interesting, you aint the first person I hear complaining about Dumbledore's performance, but you are the first I hear disliking Voldermort's. I guess I'll find out one day once I've read the books.
Please read the books asap. They are a million times better than the movies.
***** I also heard that years ago XD at the point that if you read them you don't enjoy the movies anymore. And I like those movies and promised myself to never read them, 'cause they are 7 lol
But now 3 things happened:
1. I got a girlfriend..
2. My girlfriend just became a massive fan of Harry Potter.
3. I started buying her all the books.
And I can't read those books until she finishes them all lol
Crabbe and tom riddle
And Tom Riddle's change wasn't necessarily a bad thing, his appearance in H-BP was meant to be a younger Tom, before he went to Hogwarts.
I think you misunderstand. His adolescent self was portrayed by different people in Chamber of Secrets and Half-Blood Prince respectively.
The actor who played crabbe was in prison so they change him
LifeasAutumn
You left out Tom Riddle. In the Chamber he was totally hot but in the Half-Blood Prince he didn't look like how I imagined him, as he didn't really have such handsome features (as described in the books)
Sydney Clifford If think it because he is getting elder
Sydney Clifford obviously it's because he is old and evil now even if tb hey kept the actor he would've had his face covered up with the makeup an prosthetics
Jeez I mean in the memories when he was still a student. Of course he looks different as Lond Voldemort, but I was refering to Tom Riddle's Memory from the Chamber of Secrets and the Memories of him that Dumbledore and Harry visit in the Half-Blood-Prince
You forgot Hedwig, Scabbers, and Crookshanks
rip
Cacophony Hedwig died.....
Cacophony There wasn't an actor for Hedwig. It was CGI in the last movies. 1 was a real one though. But the actor wasn't changed.
The coolest thing about this video was that it helped me understand the movies better in terms of who some of the characters are. loved it! :-D
if Lavender Brown would have stayed black, everyone would complain that the only black character in the movies is a complete weirdo. Lesson in life: stupid people are never satisfied.
That's so true lol I'm sure everyone would be saying that the one black girl who finally gets showtime is just fucked up
lavender Brown wasn't the only black character though. and i think it's worse changing the actress from black to white is way worse than having a black character be "a weirdo" as you put it. that's just how the character is supposed to be in the story.
Was Lavender Brown supposed to be black from the books?
Did you forget about Dean Thomas
Alexandra Kimbink not really, they never said that she was black or white in the books

you gotta wonder what the harry potter movie would have been like if richard harris didnt die and continued to play the role through out the series
chase1146 The duel and the firewheel might have been more surprising, as Gambons performance was generally more energetic.
HARRYDIDJYAPUTYENAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIYAH wouldn't have happened if that were the case
I do. Especially during the scene in the Deathly Hallows part 2 when Harry is looking at Snape's memories
Agreed 100%...Dumbledore wasn't so calm in the GOF lol
Richard Harris was the kind grandfather. Michael Gambon brought more action and power to the role, but I agree, Richard Harris was the best to play Dumbledore.
As much as I agree that the characterization of Dumbledore was off in Goblet of Fire and after, I still think the best portrayal of him in any of the movies was Gambon in Prisoner of Azkaban. That bit at the end when Hermione says, "We did it!" and he slyly says, "Did what? Good night.." and walks away humming to himself is the most book Dumbledore moment in the film series to me.
WTF!!? They changed Dumbledore!!? I didn't even notice man 😂😂😂😂
Yeah
You didn't notice okay
42 harry potter movies? what?
it is a joke
It is only sarcasm.
Lol, IKR
IpostyFun
IpostyFun they make different versions of the movie for different places and in different languages
Gambon is the real Dumbledore for me, I only see him when read the books.
That's like saying Oblivion is better than Skyrim.
colin041998
If it's your opinion, then be it so.
It is. And you have yours.
But Oblivion IS better than Skyrim.
I see Harris as him in the first two books and then Gambon in the others... I guess that's what I get for watching the films first lol

That is not how Ralph Fiennes is pronounced. It's rafe, not ralf.
In which English speaking country??? Each country has its own accent and way of pronouncing words....
in England, I believe
+1999puika Ralf is the general pronunciation of that spelling but his name specifically is pronounced Rafe.
you dont get these kinds of confussions in spanish...
+OJWH In which case Miller can be forgiven for taking the assumption that Ralf is the way to pronounce that name.
Ugh the change that had me seething the most definitely has to be the fat lady, what on earth where they thinking putting Dawn French in that role.
It was like seeing a terry's chocolate advert in a harry potter movie.
Couldn't take it seriously at all.
I didn't have a problem with them replacing her but to pretend it was the same person as movies 1 & 2 was insulting. They should have given her another name. That would have been more acceptable.
I agree, the first fat lady was pretty wise and mature, and the Dawn French one just didn't fit that description at all.
Aurora Lara I know
“Somehow he was convinced” as money flashed across the screen
>Fans didn't like first two HP movies
What? First two movies were the most faithful to its source material.
I admit that 3rd one is pretty good, despite not having a Harry Potter feel at all, but after that... all following movies were just an excuse to slap HP name on something.
Most faithful to the source material, aka, the worst two books, not to mention shortest.
Fiennes didn't like the first two HP movies... As in Ralph Fiennes, the actor who plays Voldemort... -.-
It could be factors of inexperienced child actors and the less interesting story of how things set up for an amazing story later.

The actor for Crabbe was in jail at the time.

So changing a Black Character into white is controversy and racist, but changing a white Character into black not? Well, i have a better Idea: Just don´t change any ethnicity or Sex of a Character and let him be what he originally is! It´s the easiest Thing in the whole fucking World.
We don´t need a black Nick Fury and also not a white Shaft. Like also we don´t need a Wonder-Man instead of Wonder-Woman, so also not female Ghostbusters instead of the originals.
As a conservative, I kinda like Samuel L. Jackson as Fury.
Alexander Eddy
No Problem, it´s your own Opinion!
The most recent incarnation of Nick Fury in the comics is based on Samuel L. Jackson, though, so that's not really a change.
Good point.
I love this comment
Harry Potter is AWSOME
POTTER HEADS WHERE YOU AT?!?!
Ella Bella ayyy!
Ayyy
Ella Bella *reductos the door down* You called?
*alohamora* Sorry I'm late, the door was locked.
what about that fat friend of malfoy that was replaced by a black guy in the last movie?
I think there are two different Fat Ladies, because not only the actress changed but also the password
nice video btw :D
dude-the password changes from time to time during the school year at Hogwarts..
JESUS u dambass the passwords allways change throughout the year by a Prefect
the prefect doesn't change the passwords whatever guards the common room (it depends on which one you're in) do
how would anyone know then cuz the prefects woudnt know....
their must always be a teacher on the train since according to book 5 the prefects and Headboy/girl go to the Prefect's carriage on he train to be brief about their job I guess they're told the first password then and I guess during the year they found out from a teacher (the new password..
Voldemort had a nose in 1 the 1st movie after he didn't ok
And have also red eyes like in book. ;)
easy explanation, its a new body
+RFSCaveman true
Malfoys short fat friend was replaced in the last two movies
Will MacLeod he wasn't really replaced, they just give the part to another character (Zabini) who also appears in the books
Jan Kreft he was replaced because the actor playing him was sent to jail on drug chargess
Tahiti was right
Feminism YT to
The actor for Aberforth changed as well. Can’t remember the names of either, but the non-speaking Aberforth In Prisoner of Azkaban is not the same as the speaking Aberforth in Deathly Hallows.
no mention of crab being race swapped?
Never happened.
Yes it did watch the last two movies
Nope he's a different character all together look it up
that's because the black kid is a different character all together
+Ynse Schaap No, they took out Crabbe altogether. The black students is Zabini Blaise, Draco called him by name in the film and he had been in the books. They had to take out Crabbe because his actor was arrested for drug abuse.
Christian Coulson was replaced by Frank Dillane as Tom Riddle
Richard Harris was a better Dumbledore than Michael Gambon
Greg Wise both good actors to play Dumbledore
Greg Wise both are good but harris was older and had health problems so he would have never been able to perform like dumbledore in later films...
I would of preferred Ian McKellen to take over the role of Dumbledore since he did do a good version of the Wizard Gandolf. Besides Ian's Gandolf character is often mistaken as Dumbledore.
michael1234252 and that was the reason he didnt want to do dumbledore because he had so similar role in lotr
Whatever do you mean? "DIDYOUPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIRE!?!?!?!??" - Oscar-worthy acting right there.
Warwick was already doing the roll of professor flitwick
Yeah as well as the Gringotts banker in the Philosopher's Stone and a ministry official in Order of the Phoenix but he didn't play Griphook until the Deathly Hallows pt2.
I think the voice was Warwick with Troyers body
WTF?! XD I didnt even know most of these characters by name! XD This was like a huge series of "Oh look, these extras got recasted!" XD
Draco's friend was also replaced in the last 2 movies
It was just a different person, the actor for Crabbe became a drug addict I think, it was something like that, so they couldn't re-cast him. In the last two movies Draco hung around with Zabini instead I think.
Nope he died, in the order of the fenix the summer break before the next movie. he cursed himself :/
I LIKED HIM CUZ HE WAS A FATTIE FAT GUY
Mikey Wilbrink nope he was sent to jail
Nice to know somebody else on the movie staff pictured Lavender Brown as a black girl. It was never specified but I always pictured her as a black girl.
dixonmixin10 I know right!
I pictured her as Indian
The name would suggest a white person.
I picture her as an attack helicopter
she was specified as black in philosopher's stone you all
Actually since Colombus left the film the thing was straight for the bin...and worst of all was dumbledore...
Why does he keep saying 45,000 sequels. There were the 8 movies (7 sequels) and then mysterious beasts what happened to the other 44,992 sequels??? So confused
He was intentionally exaggerating for comedic effect.
a hyperbolic statement, my friend
mysterious beasts?
LOL
Fantastic beast
My guess is he's talking about the other languages?
BEFORE I WATCH THE VIDEO: If they say Dumbledore was "replaced" I am done.
Oh for fuck sake.
Mark Gibson literally same
Mark Gibson I don't understand your point.
He wasn't replaced. The character passed away.
Crystal Curcio Oh. Well I don't think that really means he wasn't replaced.
What about draco's friend who became black in the lasts 3 movies!
Blaise Zabini? He was always Black. I don't remember different actors playing him.
AFluffyKantus crabbe was white in 1-5 but in 6-8 he is black
HersheyMan12399 that wasn't Crabbe, it was Blaise Zabini.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was really confused when I noticed that :p
apparently the actor who played Crabbe was in prison so they had to change it a bit. Its Crabbe in the book, so your confusion is understandable.
Nobody even knew Lavender existed in the movies until Half-Blood Prince
Other than the old wizard, I don't know nor noticed any of the others.
Tsk tsk tsk
"The old wizard..." Pffft!
I honestly never noticed dumbledore bro wtfff💀💀💀💀
The original actor who played Vincent Crabbe was arrested for possession of marijuana and wasn't able to appear in The Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Man how do you get the names of the background characters? Really fascinating stuff!
Irettlawaltteri just read the books
I know the characters. I read all the books years ago. I just can't guess which character in the book each background character in the movie is supposed to represent when all you get is a couple of scenes with them sitting at a table with other characters.
You look at the credits
credits or movie script not the books. seems like a lot of them had no real lines or names being said but they had credit names.
Same actor, they just screwed up what he was supposed to look like.
Ooh well it was still confusing as shit xd
Hello! I'm back, Harry revives me with The Stone of Resurrection
the first Voldemort was so bland I'm thankful for Ralph Fiennes. same with the first Dumbledore. He was too cute, too grandfather. When the shit started to get serious, the new Dumbledore played masterfully as the Most Powerful Wizard. would you believe the first Dumbledore as a man willing to kill for the Elder wand? I don't think so...
+David Dagnino
Fiennes' Voldemort sounds and acts like he's at a retirement home, or like a bad impression of Brando's Vito Corleone, and his laughs and mannerism are anything but intimidating
Literally nobody noticed any of these.
I noticed all of them accept the grey lady one
rekrn12345 I did
If 'literally' nobody noticed, who made the video?
Richard Bremmer provided the face, Ian Hart (Quirrell) did the voice of Lord Voldemort.
I love how there was no "controversy" when a large number of white characters from the books were replaced with black actors/actresses for no reason, but even replacing ONE of them back was somehow "the most 'racist' thing that ever happened".
*roll eyes* *yawn*
What characters? The only black characters I remember either never had their race mentioned, or were specifically said to be black in the books.
other than dumbledore, i didn't know they were changed :D including voldemort, it's a big surprise for me
dFruitzig a same!
Honestly, I still miss Richard Harris's portrayal of Dumbledore.
Yes. Fiennes’ Voldemort was a clown
what about professor flitwick? in the first movies he was this weird little old gremmlin'ish dude with a beard and then (i think) since the fourth movie he just got to be like 100 years younger and has black hair and is wearing glasses
He's still played by the same person though. Warwick Davies.
Really? That's so weird! I wonder why they felt the need to change his appearance that much.
MoaisNotmyname
I've googled it and Warwick Davies himself has explained why. Doesn't really make much sense in my opinion as I don't see why the reason has to affect his appearance but whatever haha.
"Could you possibly give us an insight as to why Flitwick’s look was changed for the third HP movie?”
Warwick Davis: Yes…so many of you have asked me the ‘New look Flitwick’ question, so I will answer it here, once and for all.
Not that interesting really, is it?"
So there you go haha.
CastleFlameGal Huh! Well, that's still rather strange... They should have known by then how huge their fanbase was and that people would notice. But anyway, thanks for explaining!!
ruem haart ohhh yeah
In charms class in the 1st movie he has a long white beard and afterwards he has what you said
