I believe he has now covered seven Presidencies..with meticulous research, fact checking, reliable sources. Despite the title of the book #Fear, I don't think we're even discussing the properly framed problem, nor the big picture solutions yet. Fear is the problem. Three of the biggest fear generators are 1) this historically unsustainable and exponentially growing wealth and income inequality levels of late stage, out of control capitalism 2) fear-mongers like Fox News, the GOP, etc. 3) religions. American Republican fear is historically extraordinary. Fear allows us to mentally wall-off our empathy to as low as virtually zero. Greed is also nothing but insecurities and fear based. Bullies and bigots are just insecure, fear-filled kids/people. Every single American Republican policy is more fear and greed based than the progressive alternative. Fear (and the empathy it kills) is what separates the left from the right. We must realize that no amount or size of Great Walls, or military spending, or nuclear arsenal, or non US soil military bases and ops, or personal weapons and magazine sizes, or of privatized, militarized and systemically racist police, or of mass deportations, or of bans of entire groups of people, or torture of immigrant children as deterrents, or anything else will ever Make American Republicans Feel Safe enough... We must realize that no amount or size of Great Walls, or military spending, or nuclear arsenal, or non US soil military bases and ops, or personal weapons and magazine sizes, or of privatized, militarized and systemically racist police, or of mass deportations, or of bans of entire groups of people, or torture of immigrant children as deterrents, or anything else will ever Make American Republicans Feel Safe enough... All of their policies harm people and the planet for their insatiable fear and greed. Let's fix the problem. Ironically Republicans are doing things like ending social safety net programs, creating yet more societal fear in a downward spiral. Their fear is our problem and we are going to have to reduce their fears and educate ourselves out of this.
With tuition free education, healthcare for all, and a Universal Basic Income replacing hundreds of individual federal, state, etc social safety net programs including things like Social Security, unemployment insurance, etc, together we take a giant leap in reducing day to day societal fears and increasing equality. So what's new or revealing? Those who voted for him knew well and ignored the facts that he is an impetuous, vindictive, thin-skinned and unpredictable ego-maniac. However, he is very smart, tough, tenacious, fearless, and unconventional. His tactics and methods of communicating may be jaw-dropping and outrageous, but his basic philosophy and anti-establishment policies regarding trade, immigration, economy, military power and America's declining role in geopolitics are spot on. He has shaken up America's enemies as well as those allies who ridicule Americans and take them for granted. He is taken very seriously because he is not duplicitous - he actually follows through on what he says (tweets). If America's enemies think he can't be intimidated or fooled around with - in fact he is dangerous - well, that's absolutely terrific. He is one guy the totalitarian rascals in Beijing who have bullied, manipulated and stolen -- from currency to trade to intellectual property -- fear could explode the Chinese bubbles without firing a bullet.

Great job by Bob Woodward! He and his team obviously did an amazing amount of research, not just for the book, but on his interviewer as well. Why is Savannah Guthrie being so adversarial? This is supposed to be an interview, not the Spanish Inquisition! Stephen Colbert conducted a much more fair and informative interview on Monday..
