Route south from Ohio depended on E. Tennessee, West NC great roads to not heat n. Ohio house. Flowida far. Wonder which moderate depth Rivers can float small boat to ICW or other hatsaa ( Hebr. suggestion ). Glad you & yours ok. Now, Tuesday Oct. 8 boats gotta be tied to Flowida tree- wish I had tied boat last spring upon cah drive north.

Greetings from Laos. I feel his pain. We are still recovering from Typhoon Yagi. When the typhoon made landfall 3 weeks ago, the flood waters were up to our necks. It took a week for the water to recede. But I was so glad to take a hot shower after a week. Hot showers are a luxury in my country if you ask me.
Luke I count you and your family as MY FAMILY. My Heart ❤️ goes out too everyone who’s lost a family member, or again who’s struggling. Everyone of you are again in my thoughts and prayers. Id do more for you guys if I could. I was pensioned off 2-3 yrs ago , from doing the same job for 26 yrs. I just wish I had the finances to join your Patron?? But I live alone and can’t do it??

Glad to know you mostly dodged it. My heart goes out to Asheville and the other communities that got essentially erased from the map, the infrastructure damaged with interstates undermined and then destroyed and now 30 feet deep and part of the new riverbed and crippled of its ability to reach the needy and so much more.
I've seen the US get walloped so many times by massive storms and seen the aftermath but this one is off the meter.

Samaritan's Purse is a great charity. They were here in 2011 when we had dozens and dozens of tornadoes in one day and numerous F5's. They get right in and start working. Franklin Graham heads it up.
It's hard to lose a lifetime of tools- glad your house is standing and especially that you were able to share camping gear and meals with the community

I agree about how hiking/camping prepares you for some of this - our Sawyer water filter, headlamps, water tablets, Dude Shower wipes, etc. are hiking items that we can use during/after a hurricane.

I've been waiting for this update for a week. I'm so glad you and your family are safe. This has been one of the most depressing weather events in my lifetime and I'm 63. I pray for everyone affected by this storm and only hope things get better before winter. This storm in my estimation will go down as the worst storm to ever hit the US once all of the damage is discovered and that could take months. I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor. Just know you and your family have been in our prayers since the storm hit and will continued to be. I also encourage everyone seeing this to donate something to this relief effort. Time, money, goods, etc as it's so badly needed by so many at this time. Again sorry this happened to you and Susan but knowing you and how honorable, ethical, respectable, etc you are this is in your wheelhouse to take on. Let us know if you need anything and thanks so much for this update.
Luke, glad you all are safe. My dad and I were supposed to camp up at Blue Bear this past weekend. We’ve been in communication with those folks as well and have plans to help. Having been through a tornado, I can speak to the great sense of community that comes as part of the rebuilding. It sucks that it takes a great tragedy to see it, but it does instill that we are meant to be social and need each other more than we tend to believe or allow.

I have watched many videos from NC. One video show how a small river became flooded fast. River is Cane river. This man lost his house, bridge and car. Half of the road gone.

You had me crying. Even all the videos that I've seen is heartbreaking to watch. Let alone live through. I live in Griffin Georgia about 60 miles SE of Atlanta. Griffin was saved and blessed. We didn't have that much rain. No strong winds. No flooding. Im so thankful. When I see the videos of people's houses, whole towns washed away . Its so sad. And the people that died. Oh my Lord! I pray to hear everyone has a place to stay while they rebuild.❤

i remember watching the UA-cam channel berm peak who (i think) lives in NC and he was also affected by the storm, glad you're okay though
What we take for granted everyday, is only visible when it is taken away. I am very envious of your adventures. I have recently retired. So my goal is to go camping much more so I can enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. I am so glad all of your family is safe and damage is controlled.
