I have an example on order from the 2nd production run, due early next year (I think!), so glad to see you're impressed with yours. I grew up with 37s growling around the South Wales valleys, earning a living hauling what often seemed to be impossibly heavy coal trains.l, and they have remained a firm favourite of mine. Thanks for another excellent video.
My sound fitted version arrived yesterday!! It’s a fabulous model and I too have been wanting for a while! I have a Bachmann 37, which is also a nice model but Accurascale have come out on top here! Definitely the best 37 around atm!!! I have an old Lima and a Hornby Railroad Plus with the new Bluetooth decoder factory fitted, which is brilliant value for money! The detail from Accurascale is the best!!!! Great model! Thanks for sharing!!!
I'm expecting mine for January... Accurascale at its best here, this beauty is worth the wait on every aspect, as far as you show her to us. The dynamic qualities seems to be second to none, and the overall look is superb. I WANT MINE !
Accurascale sells a Class 37 crew separately. I've got their early BR crew for my 37 D6703. Their self colouring looks better (more saturated) than the ones they sold for the Deltics
What a fantastic model, cab detail on another level considering its hard to see. I wish I was as brave as you with the weathering, you made a great job of it as usual!
What a super model , the 41A shed plate makes it a Sheffield, Darnell loco. Id be tempted to put a passenger head code on one end and a freight one on the other .
PS: I think your example is the most striking of the batch, with it's split headcode that was necessary to accommodate the prior-to-being-welded-shut cab communication doors, nose mounted horns and Stratford Depot-style silver-grey roof. The Brunswick Green livery looks fabulous on it too. Being a South Wales ex-pat I chose one that spent much of it's life at either Cardiff Canton or Landore depots, but now I live in East Anglia, and given what I've just said, I think yours would be my second choice. What I'm absolutely sure of however, is that I'd NEVER EVER have the courage to weather it!

Seems to be an excellent, well detailed model. Your weathering is, once again, brilliant! Now, hurl the whole thng into the nearest waste bin, and return to running steam!
Now I require one in Lego...but that windscreen needs to be a made part, I cant build that windscreen from Pieces. Not heard of T Cut in about twenty years...and it looks MAGNIFICENT!!!..
These look a lot better value than the Bachmann ones I think you made the right choice. After running a while it will probably be smooth starting at slower speed than it does now. That's still impressive for a straight out of the box run though. Weathering looks good for a cleanish loco.
Great loco Lewis ,really nice , I couldn’t weather it ,no chance not at that price ,it would be just out of the work shop .Can’t wait to see it earning its keep .😊
Beautiful layout ands really informative (and brave!) weathering. Only thing you might want to note is that this the model isnt as built or 'mid 1960's condition' a described by Accurascale. Hi lovely model class 37 wasnt really in to diesels but just of late started buying the odd one or two Ive been watching your channel for years but don't think I've ever commented before
Hi Lewis… I managed to pick up the DRS early liveried version (brand new) at GETS for the original rrp. They have been like hens teeth to get hold of, as they sell out everywhere they show up. Sadly, my family had to move again (Father in the Royal Air Force) to Epping in Essex. Quelle contrast ☹️ our Military Quarters were at the end of the Circle line with 3 coaches shuttling between Epping and Ontario (may as well have been Reykjavik). But I digress; I went back to see a friend at Reading; tube to Paddington, nonstop to Reading; 1960 - it to just 33 minutes. In 1990 the so-called HS125 was slower. Then doomsday arrived; slowly steam was usurped my the arrival of a really smelly D800 class, Warships etc. fancy name plates but soulless diesels. I have lived in Germany twice; as a pre-teenager 1955-58 prior to Reading, then I did my ground tour (I was RAF Aircrew) at the same base as my father. On each occasion I collected Märklin HO model railways, their steam locomotives and the new (in the 1950s) sleek V2000 diesels were magnificent. My point - this 12 wheel thing is ugly. Sorry. But it wouldn’t do for us all to be the same would it? Pip! Pip! Love to all and stay safe.
That’s interesting, I’d also take a hall or a castle any day! I agree the 37s are a bit ugly, but that’s what I like about them - rugged and utilitarian 🤣
Great review. As a modern modeller I've got the large br blue and the drs one. They are brilliant. Do u do customer weathering? Would like my large logo one weathered but never done it before.
I missed out in this run, so I hope to pick one up from the next run coming up in 2024. I have to ask, did the BR green version you got, some with optional yellow snowplow fittings?
Hi I didn t catch the citadel paint name you used .. some thing oil ! .. I wonder how your 37 is running these days .. I ve had reliability problems .. that’s why you pay extra for Bachmann 37 .. just bought bachmann deluxe colas model .. running beautifully .. probably sell my Accurascale 37 3:31
It’s called Nuln Oil. Mines still running great, but I did hear about people having issues. They’ve announced a lifetime guarantee on all models so they’d probably sort it for you if you sent it back - but I get how frustrating that is.
@@MouldyRaspberry thx I do like to weather my vehicles ..always something to learn from others .. I enjoyed your video .. I think a few more close ups of phases as you are going along with be helpful … for example I don’t use IPA to wash off some excess paint …I m gonna try that .. many thx
Hi Did your loco have to have the switches set ass yours was dcc sound or are they factory set save having to take out the decoder to set the switches thanks for any information
Hi Lewis, oh your video made my day, as I received my BR Green 37 through the post Wednesday, I was interested in your thoughts. I liked your weathering for this one, and how you wanted to keep it clean looking, I'm not that brave! Did you notice the loco has a BR blue data panel, I don't recall that detail when I ordered mine, around the same time you ordered yours by the sound of it, but it dates the loco to the late 1960's. I thought like you the model was mid to early 1960's, so I was surprised to see that panel on it. I guess it would be easy to remove, to back date the model a few years..............What would be your recommended method for doing that, lightly T-cut the area? Mine is a sound version and the sound really does blow you away, it's so realistic, although I had to turn the sound down on mine. A great video and an amazing loco. All the best and thank you Dave. PS I just checked the availablity of these on the Accurascale website. It looks like all except four DRS examples are sold out, even those in the second run, wow!
Ah that’s interesting, I didn’t know that! Yes I’d probably go for the T-Cut and just give it a gentle rub with a cotton bud. Might take a while but it will come off eventually. That’s crazy that you had to turn it down!!! Must be really impressive!
Do you know what the funny thing is I named my model railway the same as yours it’s a heritage railway I build until I searched it on UA-cam and I found your channel so that’s really weird because I actually didn’t know your channel when I named my board
It is a very nice looking detailed loco. I think the chains are going a little too far in the detail stakes, I have the Deltic and they are an utter pain as to access the innards for maintenance the chains need to be remove, though they fall off by themselves often so need to be glued.
Lovely loco, suits your layout setting nicely. I've got the next one D6703, but haven't run it yet as it arrived the day before I went on holiday last week. I did notice a little loose bit in the bottom of the clamshell. My Deltic had the same problem. All those small details are so vulnerable to damage, even brand new still in their box. One problem with your filming though, I couldn't appreciate your detail weathering because you kept waving the camera all over the place. Pan slowly along the loco please. Cameras just can't replicate Human eye movement flicking here and there.
Could anyone confirm if he’s right about the Decoder / menacing yellow instructions? I don’t plan on installing anything into it but just run it on an analogue track to start out. Thanks!
Looks to be an awesome and quality model. Love the utilitarian looks of the UK Class 37’s, they ooze workhorse credentials and seem to take on their very own personality! This is in no way intended to be in anyway critical, you are undoubtedly a very highly rated master modeller, but have always wondered why you have never adopted DCC? Hope you don’t mind me asking. Thanks for posting.
Completely agree! No particular reason really, but I guess other than the potential for sound I couldn’t really see what benefit it would bring for me personally with both layouts being single track etc. I’m tempted to switch though, I might just do a few locos at a time perhaps. Would you recommend DCC?
@@MouldyRaspberry as your layouts are both single track I'd say DCC would give far better level of flexibility in having multiple loco's on track. Don't forget with DCC you drive the locomotives independently and not just provide power to the track and everything sat on it at the time, it's not just about sound that is just an optional by product. Loco and coach lights also stay on when stationary and are controllable on locos.
@@MouldyRaspberry @MouldyRaspberry I personally would highly recommend not going to dcc. I have dcc, dc, and ac, and I've had by far the most trouble with dcc. It's a lot more susceptible to electrical gremlins, and apart from sound, which I do have, and its okay but I'm just as happy not having it. And as for your layout size: a) how many locos do you want on it at the same time, and b) it's really not that hard to run one wire to a switch for an isolated section. On my dcc I still ended up with isolated sections to turn them off. I have an N scale tomix EF81, on an hm2000 controller with a consistent all day 0.06 scale mph: yes, less than a tenth of 1 mph. Good controller, good locomotive, great combination. Always so inspiring your layout- I've been following you for some time and I'm always in admiration of the way you capture imagery with an artists eye. Sometimes fidelity doesn't carry the necessarily aesthetic aire.
@@MouldyRaspberry For a large main line layout DCC is great but a single line like yours to me does not really justify the extra cost with chip prices as they are. My single line is DCC but only because it was built after my main line layout. I only run one train at a time so the only perk is using my sound fitted locos, as you dub real sound on your videos you would not be buying sound chips so no real benefit for you
Ironically as an ex railway worker at Westinghouse Brakes the class 37 was always considered the most reliable of all BR Diesels in real 1/1 scale. Just wish it had been the Class 52
52s were a force of nature, but they had no chance of surviving BRs standardisation policy, what with their hydraulic transmissions and twin power units. Although such "dual redundancy" would have come in handy on several classes that BR chose to keep!
Mine is beautiful so it pains me to demand a REFUND - the sound went off for no apparent reason. It returned but having seen Chadwick I have lost all faith 😞 so disappointed after over 2 years on the waiting list .
Ah sorry to hear that. I did see Charlie’s video, I wasn’t aware there were duds before that. I guess you could try the retooled Bachmann version? A bit more expensive but maybe more reliable.
Really don’t get this current trend for badly dubbing real sounds over model railways. It was awful when people did it with cine, it’s still awful now!
Hi Lewis what a great loco I love it.Accurascale have pulled the stops for this i have seen a number of review s on this model and on the hole all have been good i will be getting me one of these shortly .You were wondering where the extra 40 went with the Bachmann one , strait in there pockets Bachman rob dogs its joke they are ripping people of and Hornby are not far behind them. If accurarascale can do something like this at that price why cant others. any way rant over great video again Lewis thank you.
Ive got D6703. And it's a full on event opening the box and the model weighs a ton. Runs brilliant and looks stunning.

Ah interesting. I’d like to get a 52 at some point.
Was it a class 37 on the great train Robbery
@@6lr6ak6Class 40.
@@6lr6ak6A class 40, I think.
52s were a force of nature, but they had no chance of surviving BRs standardisation policy, what with their hydraulic transmissions and twin power units. Although such "dual redundancy" would have come in handy on several classes that BR chose to keep!
Makes every other loco available look like plastic. Its an amazing loco.
Agreed!
They are classic engine. Very noisy. Especially clag and thrash. Beautiful detail.
Yes very noisy!
What's with the sound Dude?
Forgot to remove my phone case when recording the voice over 🤣 always buggers it up
Mine is beautiful so it pains me to demand a REFUND - the sound went off for no apparent reason. It returned but having seen Chadwick I have lost all faith 😞 so disappointed after over 2 years on the waiting list .
Ah sorry to hear that. I did see Charlie’s video, I wasn’t aware there were duds before that. I guess you could try the retooled Bachmann version? A bit more expensive but maybe more reliable.
very quiet locomotive
Yes it is very quiet!
Yet another SPAD,
It’s an outrage!!!!
“The best 00 gauge locomotive ever made?”
Well, it’s a diesel, so…. No. :P
Haha fair point 🤣
Bump your microphone 😮
Bump
Really don’t get this current trend for badly dubbing real sounds over model railways. It was awful when people did it with cine, it’s still awful now!
I think most people like it 👍🏻 I wouldn’t worry too much about what other people are doing, you can run your trains however you like!
Brake lights 😂😂😂😂😂 get a new hobby
You can tell my knowledge of diesels is lacking 🤣
Stop sniffing !
I’ll sniff you if you’re not careful - that’s my camera ruffling around not me sniffing 🤣
Good to know - thanx @@MouldyRaspberry
Hi Lewis what a great loco I love it.Accurascale have pulled the stops for this i have seen a number of review s on this model and on the hole all have been good i will be getting me one of these shortly .You were wondering where the extra 40 went with the Bachmann one , strait in there pockets Bachman rob dogs its joke they are ripping people of and Hornby are not far behind them. If accurarascale can do something like this at that price why cant others. any way rant over great video again Lewis thank you.
Thanks Tony. Agreed!
