- Here's a quick look at the new Saitake STK-7009F Telescopic Bluetooth Controller. I had no problem pairing it to my device, which is somewhat rare for me with the PowKiddy X18S. I go through the usual motions testing the sticks, buttons, and d-pad in Gamepad Tester. I struggle to survive using its clicky d-pad in Street Figher II and go for a cruise in OutRun Coast2Coast for PSP.
Everything feels great except for the d-pad in fighting games, but that's something I think can change with acclimation. It has a pivot with microswitches, but the shallow travel distance makes it difficult to pull off hadukens and shoryukens.
The overall ergonomics, button feel, and placement are good, and quality seems to be a lot better than their previous model. This is my first impression of the Saitake STK-7009.
There are currently so many good budget options available, and it's hard to recommend one over another because they all have strengths and weaknesses. I'll leave it for you to decide if this Bluetooth controller is something for you or not.

Yeah. My hands are shaky in these early videos. It’s because I’m balancing on a stool with my elbows resting on my knees. That's absolutely great that the new Saitake pairs as a Dualshock 4 controller ! That ensures it will work with ALL streaming services including the official PS Remote Play. You can literally use Dualshock mode for everything (works as X-input, emulators, streaming etc) except for Switch. Good stuff !
The new Gamesir G8 also has Dualshock mode 👍🏽
I'm also waiting in the new BSP-D9 (PS Portal style design). I prefer the feel of symmetrical sticks
That’s awesome! I haven’t been able to get a PS5 yet so I didn’t know what features would be significant while filming this, but man that’s really cool. Another commenter was saying the same thing. I didn’t realize DualShock mode is the same as x-input but it makes sense. It’s strange how on the PowKiddy stock firmware launcher (I never use it) they give a choice between Xbox layout and PlayStation layout. Shouldn’t it be Xbox and Nintendo if they were making different profiles?
For a 30 device it’s another banger in my opinion. That is, unless you really want to use it for fighting games.
I should have my Galileo video up next week but people are annoying the shit out of me on Reddit, dogging me for using a device (X18S) with built in controls paired with a telescopic controller. I decided to add s few games to my new Galaxy S23 Ultra and will film the video with my shitty old iPhone.
These people don’t seem to understand that I’m filming with my phone, can’t be doing both at once, and not all people can afford dedicated handhelds. It’s great a $30 bluetooth controller can make it happen well enough with their phones.

Finally, somebody who can see this through the same perspective as I do! Freaking people on Reddit talk so much smack and it's always the same kind of thing. Dogging on the fact that I've found a non-permanent solution to making our devices prerform better, and have the option to slide it out to put it in my pocket or bag for portability with built in controls for when needed. People jump on the bandwagon, too. Once one gets going it becomes a trend to be a smart ass, and any attempt at rational discussion as to why I choose to do it just yields downvotes . Why people gotta be so angry!? Lol. I didn't expect the controls to be so bad when I bought it 2 years ago. One of the few T618 devices in the game at the time.
@@OGTechNick Exactly. It was supposed to usher in the next big chipset for this scene, but they just didn't/couldn't get the controls right. It would have made PowKiddy a fortune too. 😢
@@CAPMAX_Gaming yeah they blew that one and kinda branded themselves as the cheaper Anbernic now. I don’t hate PowKiddy like some people do. They’ve been pretty good to me. I have been slipping on my RGB30 though. Still have to set it up and it keeps getting pushed back because of all these budget devices that everybody seems to want videos of.
@@OGTechNick I usually just leave them stock at this point. My ROMs aren't tidy enough to easily transfer over to a new card. lol
(Problem with that though, my Miyoo Mini+ shipped without a card at all! I don't think I've actually used it for gaming yet! lol)

Hey man. Cool video. I ordered bsp d8 from aliexpress and instead received the stk 7009f. I mainly play switch emulation on android, stuff like botw or dead cells, games that mainly use joysticks. Which of the two you think is better/ more... sturdy? Less likely to break down?
I think the stk 7009f is a well-built controller with decent sticks, too. It definitely has a stronger plastic than the D8. I love the BSP brand, but their plastic has been pretty thin up until the D9, which uses a much stronger plastic. The STK 7009f is also more comfortable to hold for longer play sessions. I think the only issue I had with it was difficulties pulling off moves in SF2 with the dpad, but it's a much more solid device than the D8. I'd be conflicted, but not too disappointed, and I'd choose to keep it rather than dealing with the sketchy return service.
Hi, I wrote to you on Reddit some time ago commenting on your review of the BSP D8 (which I also have in white and the BSP D6 which is also white).
Among other things, they are my two favorite gamepads of all time for smartphones, the D6 remains my absolute favorite for ergonomics of the grip and nice, large and responsive action keys with good feedback, it's just a shame that it doesn't have analogues as good as those of the long-travel BSP D8 and console gamepad style, and then the triggers which are not analogue (but that is not a problem since I never play racing games so you can do without them and use the digital ones).
In any case, now I would also like to get this saitake 7009 (practically I'm like you, every time a new gamepad comes out I have to get it and try LUL), and I don't want to ask you how you're finding it? Are the analogues the same as those of the BSP D8 or D6, i.e. small and with little travel? Do the action keys have soft or clicky feedback? we would like a comparison with the old saitake 7007F that I have, but I have already seen that it beats it immediately. A and then can the rgb LEDs be turned off and on and change the BSP D8? Thank you

I haven't used itnin a while. I prefer the D8 over it, but I would agree that the build quality seems better. I just received the D8 Pro, so I'll have another review up in a day or two.

Is there a way to permanently set the colors of the joysticks to one specific color? The rainbow rgb it's nice and all but I want to set the color in blue, and it resets everytime I turn it on again.
Yes. I forget the exact step but it’s usually something like holding turbo and double clicking the right stick until you get to solid color. Then do one click to cycle through to keep it at the color you want. Or you can turn it off.
