With over162K Subscribers I think it's impressive that Ashley takes the time to read, acknowledge (with a heart) and respond to comments. I followed a channel from when they had less than 800 comments until they received their 100K button. They immediately stated 'it was now too much to deal with comments'. The entire tone of the channel changed. I unsubscribed and so did many others. Someone noticed a comment I had made on another channel and messaged me. Seems the aforementioned channel no longer exists. They stated people should cease asking questions since they were 'not bothering to read comments'. They literally 'shot themselves in the foot'. I do like the music Ashley selects. I usually realize I am smiling. The investment property is looking great! So much improvement. It's amazing how clean you manage to keep the interior work areas. I always learn something from every video you post and I appreciate your willingness to share.
I agree with everything that you said except for the music part. I wanted to drive a 16 penny nail into my forehead during the music that was playing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Another great video, I was tapping my foot to the music Ashley - nice choice; everyone played a part today including Bell and (paraphrasing here) “I was born with a hammer in my hand” Maverick.
Maverick and Belle have gotten so tall. I enjoy seeing them help you on these projects. This window is a whole project in itself. It will be nice when it’s completed.
Between the bay window , the rafters and a hail storm- you’ve had quite a day 😮 !!! Belle & Maverick are growing up watching their parents fixing and building…. And are learning life skills !! They are more fortunate than they know …. ❤❤❤❤
I have been watching your videos from the beginning, I'm a 67 year old grandma. I'm not ever going to do the things your doing but I've loved everything you have tackled. Every year gets better and better. I loved the music in this video and found myself dancing in my chair while Doug was doing the trusses. I look forward to every new video.
I have never looked forward to any "show" like I do yours. I don't think you could upload too many for us. So happy you are saving the end windows! It will be worth it.
It doesn't matter if it's an exciting job or a "boring" job. I like to watch everything you do bcuz I learn new tips, tricks, products or new ways to tackle a job. Thank you.
I love that you recycle as much as possible. Sometimes the most tedious work is very satisfying when it’s finished. The home is coming along great. And Maverick..’I’ve been born with a hammer in my hand,’ was priceless. As always be well, be blessed ❤
Great vlog. Love how your children are present only now and then. I don't like when channels let the kids take over and vlog and film when the parent is doing something else. Your children are so respectful to you and the viewers ❤️. No unnecessary mugging and acting up for the camera. Bless you all, stay safe. Love the hearing protection.
Have a good day. Good to see you all working together. Maybe Maverick will be a finish carpenter since he was born with a hammer in his hand. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed the candor and humor today! It seems that you are a little more relaxed and less stressed! I'm glad! Watching the entire family working together is so heartwarming! Thanks for teaching me some more things. Take care!
Hi Doug and Ashley! Just to let you know I've been watching all the videos, just not commenting every time. You are doing great work! I love the walnut stain, it's so pretty! I like your idea of doing it again! Thank you Ashley, for another fine video and working so hard on those staples! Such a monotonous job too!! 😊 P.S. lol, lol, lol! Mavick " I was born with a hammer in my hand"!!!! Out of the mouths of babes! 😊❤
The insulation you removed from between the metal roof and trusses is put in to stop metal piping and to put the metal under tension to keep the joint seals pulled tight. Once you have the interior done the difference between interior and exterior pressures can cause the metal roof to flop and pop especially in bad weather causing the joint seals to loosen and start leaking.
HAIL! Wow, that is a loud event with the roof bare like it is right now. Everyone was wearing ear protection which is an awesome thing. I watched how some people in my life who never paid attention to their hearing protection have lost their hearing through time, and later in life struggle with hearing aids to try to make up for the loss. Nothing is a good as the original body parts, that’s for sure. Hearing loss never regenerates. The sweet little voices of young children are lost forever.
I always enjoy your videos even though I’m a 78yr old retired geriatric nurse living in northern Idaho now as I moved from north west Pennsylvania on Lake Erie. I really like the music and all commentary. I’ve been a viewer since your last 2 homes. GOD BLESS YOU ALL ✝️🙏❤️
I am a 80 yr. Old, my husband and I remodel & built our first home as we lived in it, we lived in that home for over 25 years, raised 3 beautiful daughters, my husband passed at agevof 54, i sold our beautiful home to mive to something smaller. I love everything about this family, have been watching for a long time, went back & watched all their videos from day one. They almost feel like family, so hard working honest good family! Love every video, no matter what they are doing, just love their visit with me. ❤😊 excited & looking forward to next video!
It was actually a blessing that it rained so hard while you had the ceiling exposed. Excellent way to see where all the leaks and trouble spots are! Hang in there. With you all the way!
I wait anxiously for each new video. I'm so proud that you all are reusing as much of the original structure as possible. I think these videos will be so educational for someone who has limited financial resources but is trying to remodel an older mobile home for affordable housing. These are hard times. Thank you!
Papa Jerry and I really do enjoy your videos. We have been watching since you started your channel. We always check everyday for a new video. Your channel is our favorite. God Bless your family.
My dad used to refinish antique furniture. He made a mixture of boiled lindseed oil and pure bees wax. It would be kind of like a paste wax. 65 years later I still have some of the pieces he did and they are just as beautiful. Note: A channel called "Stubby Nubs" does an in-depth explanation of tongue oil. The manufacturer's add more polyurethane than tongue oil. I looked at the front and back of the can, and yep, they call it a blend. Very little tongue nut oil. That is why it got stickey on you. You put it on thick thinking it would penetrate, and it just gelled. Take a look at that site.
No, we only use pure Tung oil, sometimes cut with citrus solvent, not the Tung oil blends that they sell at the hardware store. We made two mistakes, first the stain was still too fresh and probably not compatible with the citrus solvent, but also using tung oil in the sun can cause flash polymerization and we knew that. Ideally, we should have been working in the shade.
I've seen a lot of professional woodworkers make their own finishes. The big box stores sell the cheaper inferior products, even Formby's is a cheap blend.
I love opening my UA-cam to find fresh video from my favorite DIY family ❤. Im always a little bit later tham most though.. because i live in the pacific northwest. Good stuff to watch with my morning coffee though 😂❤
I have to say most kids would not be helping like that they would be whining and carrying on and wanting to play and want to go with their friends but your two kids are very Cooperative they do everything with you as a family I think that's pretty spectacular they're not on an internet or the TV they're doing a great job they're helping out and it's great
I wait so patiently, not really I wait for every new video. Give me the things that you think you’re boring or not to us. We are so impressed with your work. And you teach a lot without even knowing it. Keep it up love love love this channel. Been watching you a long time.
You are teaching those who have never done this kind of remodeling what has to be done, so even though to you it may seem repetitive and mundane to us it is a learning experience and we are glad to witness your journey. As you learn so are we! Your son is so precious and your daughter is growing so tall! I am glad they get to help and learn also. :)
That had to have been so loud. We used to live in a mobile home and you could practically hear mist hit the roof. LOL. I'm glad Doug will add insulation the ceiling. Great video
Never mind the fails, you always know how to correct them. I'm glad you didn't have to just toss that wood because you put so much effort into cutting it in the right pattern. The stain does look very nice and it will be beautiful when it is put into place. That was a very loud storm. Ashley, I love the musical orchestration of the truss work, that was great.
8:27 Maverick made me giggle made my day “I was born with a hammer in my hand” The place is coming along great thank you for sharing your skill and your life be blessed ❤❤❤
I read the comments and people are stunned that it hails in FL. With Florida being known for its heat and humidity, most people would think large hail throughout the state is pretty unusual. But surprisingly, Florida actually has a hail season.
I love watching yalls videos with my morning coffee. I learn something and it helps motivate me for my day. Now, onwards to cleaning the blower fan for our central AC/heat. 😅
I used to woodwork, and have built several nice desks, one of which was a large corner desk. The scariest part of those projects was always applying finish. After you put in hours and hours and hundreds of dollars into materials, it is nerve racking to start applying finish. So much can go wrong.

I love the color of the stain. With white trim, it will pop. I agree, Doug. Sometimes, when things are done too quickly and we have to redo it, it knocks the wind from our sails. Have a blessed week.

Lookin good y’all! Doug, we learned a lesson together on this one…never go over wet stain with tung oil 😅😢😅. Must act like a thinner since that stain is oil based and tung oil penetrates so deeply. Sorry that happened to you but we both learned from it! Looks beautiful even after! Love y’all! Appreciate all the hard work y’all do to bring these videos to us all! Highlight of my days is when I see y’all have a new video up!!
You’re doing a great job guys 👏🏼 Nice stain ! I love stained wood because it gives it a warm feel. 😊 Every little bit you do to this mobile home makes it look fresher. 🤩🏠
I am enjoying this rebuild project , and am looking forward to more of your house rebuild especially the kitchen and what you do with the metal sink cabinet.
I LOVE the sound of a good heavy rain. Too bad you don't have a bed in there. I would've curled up in bed. I was reading some comments where someone was complementing Ashley on her reading and commenting on the post. She's great! She helps Doug, homeschool and reads to Maverick. Such a cutie pie. At to go Ashley
What a pain with the window. I love the walnut though. How does your arms feel? I feel for you. Kids are growing I have to look twice sometimes to see if it is Asley or Bell. Mav has gotten so much taller. Amazing how they grow. Peace!
Good Monday morning beautiful family! Great to see everyone pitching in and having a good time! The board looks awesome! That bay window is gonna be spectacular! Hope y'all have an awesomely blessed week! 💖🙏💖
Hello my favorite UA-cam family the project is coming along great the kids are growing up so fast I enjoy all your videos keep them coming the house and mobile home looking great can’t wait for the finished project ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
I can't get over how nice the mobile home is looking! I like that Doug is really going over everything and with that it will make you feel like you make it a better place. Much love 😊❤🤗
my dad use to replace our screens a lot...he found a tool that you use to install the rubber but i forgot what it was call... made installing the rubber so easy...
I’ve estimated that you will not run out of projects for the next…oh I don’t know……50 years? And that means that I will be able to watch your videos for the rest of my life, which won’t be that many considering I’m 80 now. It’s easy math. Loving this trailer renovation. I think it’s going to be spectacular. It’s good that you keep your plans in suspense so we can be surprised.
Some mobile home owners build a new roof over the existing one, no worrying about leaks or damage from storms, like hail. I always enjoy your videos, great job.
Staining and Sealing - One way I have found for sealing wood you have stained is to spray the stained wood with a coat of Polyurethane (from a spray can). Then let it dry and brush on a couple of more coats with a little light sanding in between coats. By spraying the first ploy coat, you don't disturb the stain finish. A light coat works great.
We get hail right before our summer crops are ready. It ruined my dads garden a few weeks before he passed. A lot came back after. Love the way the home is coming out.
I laughed out loud when Maverick said that he was born with a hammer in his hand. I agree that the new wood makes everything look and feel better. That old dilapidated home is coming back to life and will be even stronger than when it was new. This is exciting to be a part of the progress.
Hi Doug and Ashley. I respect and admire you both for your work ethic. Thank you for sharing your journey and beautiful family with us all. Love the weather you are experiencing 😍. We are experiencing very hot weather in Cape Town, South Africa🥵. Keep safe and as always God bless your beautiful family 👨👩👧👦 ❤😂🌷
Mav your a treasure! So darn cute:) Guys you are making so much progress, Everything is goin so well and lookin so good. It's gonna be a sweet place to live in. God Bless. Love. Granny
Maverick "I was born with a hammer in my hand" 😂😂😂😂
I had to back it up because I couldn't believe he said that! I got a good laugh!!!
Maverick is awesome...
That kid is so cute! And funny…what a great personality. 😊
Maverick saying that! What a hoot!
Sometimes, he's the star of the show, for sure! He is delightful. With a dad like Doug, he may truly believe he was born with a hammer in his hand. 😊

Yea, we find that a lot of channels totally ignore their comments and don't care to read them. We personally love reading ours. :) Thanks!
💯 agree ❤❤❤
Love your channel

My Grandma: Use it up, wear it out, make do or do without.
Ashley, I love your videography and choice of music - really enhances the presentation.
If I lived there I’d buy that mobile home in a heartbeat. When you are done it will be like brand new!! ❤️
It'll be better than brand new with the materials he is using!
Between the bay window , the rafters and a hail storm- you’ve had quite a day 😮 !!! Belle & Maverick are growing up watching their parents fixing and building…. And are learning life skills !! They are more fortunate than they know …. ❤❤❤❤

That's a compliment

The hailstorm was a direct result of Maverick’s Hammer 🔨 challenge to THOR 😂, there is only one Hammer God 😁
Have a good day. Good to see you all working together. Maybe Maverick will be a finish carpenter since he was born with a hammer in his hand. Thanks for sharing.

That was so sweet when Doug said they might do walnut trim again as a memory from their first house they they bought together.

Little Maverick is awesome, Born with a hammer in my hand!!! Nice little pop up storm!! Great job Mr Doug & Ms Ashley!!
Thank you Doug, Ashley, Belle and Maverick for sharing this great video. Project is coming right along. Keep. Doing. You. 🌵🌻🔨🎶
You are making excellent progress. I am glad you were able to restore that beautiful window!!! 🥰🎶❤️🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🏡
Love your family. I think if memory serves me right. Your channel is the reason i started watching any you tube channels. ❤ Im still here.

Yeah, it was super loud. It was pretty fun though.

Building a dream never goes as smooth as we like, but ya'll have tenacity & a boat load of screws & wood glue to hang in there😉🌞
I believe with duct tape and a 3LB sledge hammer, you can rule the world.
You and Ashley are amazing and easy to follow. Your Belle and Maverick are so precious. I enjoy your channel so much!
I love watching yalls videos with my morning coffee. I learn something and it helps motivate me for my day.
Now, onwards to cleaning the blower fan for our central AC/heat. 😅
Good morning!
Good morning :)
I used to woodwork, and have built several nice desks, one of which was a large corner desk. The scariest part of those projects was always applying finish. After you put in hours and hours and hundreds of dollars into materials, it is nerve racking to start applying finish. So much can go wrong.
Great job Doug, Mavrick is going to be a great builder! ❤️❤️
That was a fortunate catch of the roof leakage whilst you were there during the rain.
The moving scaffold is such a boon for that job.
I love to hear it rain on a tin roof❤
Bar Keepers friend works awesome on the screen frames. The powder, not liquid. You might be able to get screen corner clips too.
Nice, clean and efficient job, if you ask me? No slackers in this video. Have a good one guys.
Orange Depot has screen rails both sticks 84" I think, and bagged kits for 2 size ranges. You square cut your rail, and plug the end into a pre-made corner. No miters needed. Mill, white and bronze I think are the colors. It's in the aisle with the rolls of screen material, probably next to the plexiglas. Since you are there twice a week, pop over and have a look.
Thanks for sharing, and we'll see you next time.
I'm still here, after the video has finished, mesmerized by the climbing view and like counts.
The walnut stain looked really good. Sorry, it went badly, but as usual, you came through. ❤❤❤❤
Each step gets you nearer to the end of your journey. Excellent work by both of you. 🏴
I love the color of the stain. With white trim, it will pop. I agree, Doug. Sometimes, when things are done too quickly and we have to redo it, it knocks the wind from our sails. Have a blessed week.
The sill is going to look lovely. I agree that’s there’s something so nice about a walnut stain.
As you say, there’s always a learning curve with these projects.
Just as your rain started, we suddenly got thunder & lightening here. 😮 Spooky!
👍🏻👍🏻❤️🇺🇸loved the speeded up part with Russian dance music when Doug was doing the furring strips!
Good Morning Doug Ashley Belle & Maverick,I love your attention to detail.Have a nice week ahead! ❤️
Thank you. You too :)
Hey Doug and Ashley the home is looking great and you always have interesting ways to finding solutions to solve the problem. Take care see you next time.
window sill looks amazing... love how you can see the wood grain...
Love the fact that you are beefing up those trusses. It will make a huge difference on the integrity of the roof.👍
New wood does look much better. Great work today!
I've been totally enjoying watching this series. And I'm looking forward to the final touches on this, and on your house.
Bless the people that have the patience for screens, I cannot handle it, I can make quilts and meringue and grow tiiiiny seeds...cannot process screen. Big props!
Rust oleum Metallic old bronze will match the rest of the new windows.
You’re doing a great job guys 👏🏼 Nice stain ! I love stained wood because it gives it a warm feel. 😊 Every little bit you do to this mobile home makes it look fresher. 🤩🏠

I love your background music. Love watching you guys. God bless
The place is looking so good. whomever buys this place will be so lucky.
Hello my favorite UA-cam family the project is coming along great the kids are growing up so fast I enjoy all your videos keep them coming the house and mobile home looking great can’t wait for the finished project ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍

spline roller, we have one :)
@diyfferent yep, that was it... I forgot what it was call...
Another good job. Wow hail and rain, hope the roof holds out for you.
The roof is still in great shape and has plenty of life left in it. Just needs some patching at a couple seams :)
Could you put poly caulk on the inside seam to prevent the leaking until you are able to address the roof situation?
Great video , ur hard working family. The inside taking shape, so up to par.
I’ve estimated that you will not run out of projects for the next…oh I don’t know……50 years? So good to see you guys all working together. So glad you found the leak now instead of later down the road. God bless you guys.🦋💖🙇♀️
Maverick, Born with a hammer in my hand. You’re growing up so fast. Have a wonderful day.
The sill came out beautiful!
New wood always makes things look fresh. Great work! Love to see the progress.
Boy I know that feeling when things don't go well. It really DOES make you not want to move forward! Looking good!
Some mobile home owners build a new roof over the existing one, no worrying about leaks or damage from storms, like hail. I always enjoy your videos, great job.

Then let it dry and brush on a couple of more coats with a little light sanding in between coats. By spraying the first ploy coat, you don't disturb the stain finish. A light coat works great.
So glad you’re not in Michigan anymore! Just reminiscing 😂
I like the rhythmic music.

It starting to look like a brand new place....you do it everytime. Hugs
Slow but steady progress. Love the music. Thoroughly enjoy your channel. ❤
I love watching this build and this family. Glad your keeping the big bow window. I think it's a nice feature.
Best Helpers ever!👱🙍♀🧑🧔
