Did anyone notice the cameraman having the hots for Mrs. Montana. I remember that game well. I was jumping yelling and screaming. My kids thought the house was on fire. Montana was to first true Comeback kid. He most of all was a nice guy. Class act.
Marcus Allen is a true NFL player. He scores, and walks back to the bench. None of this kiddie celebration BS. When he left my Beloved Raiders, I was sad that day. But he is the consummate player. Nice, calm and simply brilliant.
Marcus Allen was very popular with his Raider teammates, but not with Al Davis. Davis, for whatever stupid reason, had some inexplicable grudge against him. After years of putting up with Davis' hostility and childlike attitude, Allen finally got tired of it and asked to be traded to a team that would actually appreciate his talent enough to put it to full use instead of letting it slowly waste away on the sidelines year after year. You can thank Davis' ego for that.

I remember being in the military and every year I'd be at a different base to see Elway beat my Chiefs, usually on a last minute drive. 89 I was in Oklahoma. 90 I was in Korea. 91 I was in Miami. 92 I was in Tampa. 93 I was in Korea again. Finally in 94 and Montana finally beat Elway. That's 6 different military bases in 5 years lol.
Games like this that are so much apart of my child hood. I start to remember exactly what I was doing this Monday night. Being lucky to have a TV in my room watching this game playing NFL 95 on my Sega Game Gear 😂. I was 9. years old. Believe mom made chicken, rice a Roni and salad for dinner. Man, Al, Dan, Frank. The commentary of my life😂
That was a frustrating season for us Broncos' fans. A brutal 0-4 start, followed by a 7-2 streak that got them back in contention. Then they lost their last 3 games when they still had a chance at a Wild Card berth. The Defense was their undoing. Orange Mush, we called them. Gave up almost 400 points and got torched at inopportune times.
God football was great then. I called that ending at 300 min left to a friend. She couldn't understand why I loved Joe so much. I sat her down. And made her watch the magic.
+Charles Gorman Nah he would of played longer than that, he had at the very least another 5 years in him, maybe 6! He wasn't old at all plus he was still in his prime pretty much!
I was at this game, a Chiefs fan, in the south stands (where the hardcore Broncos fans sat). I wasnt sure we were going to make it out of the stadium (or the south stands for that matter). It was nuts.
Will be interesting to see what happens to Brady's legacy if things go poorly at Tampa. And much of it won't be Brady's fault, Tampa is just not a well constructed team and that O-line was porous last season. But still... Brady chose to play there.
The rules protect Brady himself? Lol that's funny, never heard that...🤦 btw Brady has already SMASHED Montana's record and nfl records...so ya I'll take Brady all day, Montana had Rice and his whole O'line is in the HOF...i mean look who he had for a defense too...btw that same 49ers team won a super bowl WITHOUT Montana in 1995.... 🤷

I was living in Denver at the time and took a customer of mine to the game. We had great seats, about 15 rows up at the 30 yard line. It was a great game but I saw it from a different perspective. My customer lived in the Detroit area and was a college football official, serving as a line judge for Big Ten games. Most of the time, he was looking at the actions of the Line Judge and making comments on that. I learned that Jerry Markbreit had been a referee in the Big Ten before moving on to the NFL. Thanks for uploading the game. That was quite a season for Colorado-based teams. The month before, the Colorado Buffaloes had beaten Michigan on a last second Hail Mary touchdown pass from Kordell Stewart to Michael Westbrook with a memorable call from Keith Jackson.
Montana proved he was the better qb. no question. One of my all time favorite games. Elway getting beat on his home turf. Shannon Sharpe fumbles away ball!
I'm a lifetime chiefs fan and sorry that Elway took some crappie dan reeves teams to 4 superbowls that they had no business in. Elway would have won more superbowls on those 49er teams! Elway was super talented and tough. Broke my heart many many times. Joe was nowhere near the athlete of Elway and as far as arm strength and impossible throws Elway was the best. Broncos-Chiefs, 1990(Okoye-Atwater game)

Glad Joe brought joy to KC. But to me he will always be a Niner. GOAT forever.
Its ok. We'll take Mahomes
@user-ge5ot8md9q who is we?
Montana f'n magic.
Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot hey you again
I remember this game as a kid. My mom let me stay up late for once to watch the finish of this memorable game. I use to have to go to bed at halftime since the game started later back then. But for that night she knew this game was special. The boys at school were talking about it the next day.
A far better era of football than we have today IMO.
Did anyone notice the cameraman having the hots for Mrs. Montana. I remember that game well. I was jumping yelling and screaming. My kids thought the house was on fire. Montana was to first true Comeback kid. He most of all was a nice guy. Class act.
One of the greatest games I've seen back in my day!!! Two extraordinary quarterbacks
It really was. I remember seeing it when it happened.
Yep...
"That was a classic."---Al Michaels
I was 12 and remember this game! So many Legends including Frank and Al Michaels!!! Those voices are legendary!!!!!!
Marcus Allen is a true NFL player. He scores, and walks back to the bench. None of this kiddie celebration BS. When he left my Beloved Raiders, I was sad that day. But he is the consummate player. Nice, calm and simply brilliant.
Michael Leon no no
What? A raider fan who doesnt irrationally hate marcus allen? Kudos to you, sir.
@@SingleTax it's because al didn't want him. his staff basically forced al to draft him. so al, being the petty ass wipe that he was, punished marcus because al was proven wrong.
If this game was played today, there would have been 40 flags for hits on defenseless receivers, another 20 flags for roughing the passer, and another 100 for unnecessary roughness.
I think they've cleaned up the game well, resulting in less injuries. But damn, this league used to be BRUTAL. It really was war without weapons.
I know times change, but I really loved all the classic uniforms from my youth...Denver, Miami, LA Rams, Minnesota. These all looked better than the current schemes IMHO.
two of the very best ever comeback quarterbacks
Damn Brady is good.i say good cause there really are no words.but joe Montana was just magical in his comfort on a football field.the absolute epitome of a quarterback.
Brady better than Montana just stop the hate it’s getting pathetic
@@wareagleauburn7721 Montana is the only QB I will accept as equal to or better than Brady. Those two are in their own little world with how great they are/were
@@wareagleauburn7721 JOE MONTANA & JOHN ELWAY DIDN'T PLAY IN THE CUPCAKE ERA [BREATHE ON TOM BRADY & P MANNING 15 YRD PENALTY] THEY DIDN'T MAKE BULLS!T RULES FOR MONTANA, ELWAY, MARINO THEY GOT THE CRAP KNOCKED OUT OF THEM GOT UP LIKE REAL MEN, SO TAKE YOUR LITTLE TOM BRADY MAN CRUSHING CUPCAKE SELF & KISS OFF!! TOM BRADY WILL NEVER EVER EVER COMPARE.
JOE MONTANA DIDN'T NEED HIS KICKER TO WIN SUPER BOWLS EITHER!!
Phoenix Rison Funny I remember Montana coming out and saying that his O-line used silicone on their jerseys to make them slippery so it would be easier to defend Joe. Also Jerry Rice has admitted to using Stickem so it would be easier to catch passes. Man imagine Randy Moss using stickem or If Brady’s O-line using Silicone against the Giants in superbowl 42, Brady would be the QB of a 19-0 team
I was 16 when I watching this game. Many Hall of Famer, on the Chiefs, had Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, and the late Derek Thomas, on the Broncos John Elway and Shannon Sharpe.
The greatest NFL game of all time! Joe Montana is and will always be the best!
I remember this game like it was yesterday, one of the best Monday night games ever!!!
6 hall of famers in this game. Why is Neil Smith not in the hall of fame?
Besides Montana, Elway and Allen who are the other three?
My guess (correct me if wrong) are Atwater, Thomas and Sharpe.(?) Mecklenburg should also be there besides Smith (maybe he is).
Because he probably farted around Roger Goodell at some NFL Function back in 2012 and his reputation stunk ever since.
7. I believe Will Shields was in the game too
Why is Marty Schottenheimer NOT in the HOF?
204 NFL wins as HC.
@@Redmenace96 His playoff record, probably. Jim Mora and Dan Reeves have the same issue. Which for the record, I think is BS.
I was 3 yrs old and still remember this epic battle.
Way cool, thanks for posting this. I remember this well.
Montana was the best!
Oh man what a great game. I'm fiending for football since the season is over. Watching this classic hit the spot today
What a classic!! Remember watching it live and decades later it’s still one of the best games I’ve ever seen. The players, the uniforms, the pos stadium shaking, and the chain link fence on the sidelines…. Classic. I wish my grandfather and grandmother were alive to watch the Chiefs now❤❤
One of the best games I was privileged to see. I love this game. Viva American football.
The last drive shows how great Joe Montana was.
Scary how cool he was. Can feel it in the last minute that he wasn’t even fazed. He clearly could’ve played another 3-5 years but his hart was in SF so he retired. Young was nasty but Montana was GREATNESS and could’ve won a few more Super Bowls had they kept him….
@@armandorodriguez6447 Montana's body was getting too beat up to keep playing.
checkdowns to wide open receivers isn't great
Thanks. Keep em coming!
Watching this really made me miss that gun Elway had for a arm. His passes were always with authority.
Holy crap!! I was so entertained the entire time by this game. They just don't get any closer than that lol. Oh wow, such an awesome game. Even though my Broncos lost.
This was the first game I ever saw. It's the reason I love the Chiefs and the reason I love football.

nice play by play when
I got in trouble staying up late (7th grade)watching this game!
Saw this one live as a kid. Glad to see it was uploaded. Legendary performance by legends at QB
He didnt need to prove it to anyone with a brain, but this proves that Joe could play with anyone no matter what.
GalvatronVGC yeah with one system and bill🖓
GalvatronVGC lmao tru
can't teach clutch
drencrum right and Brady has folded in the clutch more than Montana has for sure
+Tewan Coleman Brady's defense has actually.........
I watched this game live almost 30 years ago. Probably the best NFL game I've ever watched. I still remember where I was and my life at the time when I watched it.
That was a great game remember that game like yesterday
Marty is the dusty baker of the nfl when it came to regular season sucess and bad postseason luck...
@NFL PLEASE put up more old Elway games.
Joe the G.O.A.T
Build Legacy nah
Build Legacy L

Yup. He didn't put up huge numbers, but he was a great leader.

DT and NS the best duo in NFL history...
Montana rules
I watch this game on TV and to this day is one of the greatest games between Montana and it'll wait I've ever seen kudos to the two of the best quarterbacks that ever lived
Back when fullbacks were around more
Games like this that are so much apart of my child hood. The commentary of my life😂
Watched this game live, God those were good times!
Don't even think I was mad when I watched it at 14. Best game I ever saw at that point. Go Broncos!
Any lifelong chiefs fan probably has a hard time seeing Lin Elliot in a game again. Him doing the opening kickoff I know I did.
Yup. Eff that guy.
One of the best games I have seen. Such great quarterbacks
2:05:42 Elway: Time for my game saving drive!
2:19:11 Montana: Okay Elway, let me show you what a game saving drive REALLY looks like.
PREACH!
No doubt this is a classic but holy crap, so many penalties. Lots of camera time for Jerry Markbreit
lol i never knew snes drunk lurked in the comments for early 90s nfl games
God football was great then. I called that ending at 300 min left to a friend. She couldn't understand why I loved Joe so much. I sat her down. And made her watch the magic.
Damn I wonder how much longer Derrick Thomas would've played if wasn't for the car crash!
I would say at least 2-3 more years.
+Charles Gorman Nah he would of played longer than that, he had at the very least another 5 years in him, maybe 6! He wasn't old at all plus he was still in his prime pretty much!
He's in the Hall of Fame regardless. Well deserved.
I was at this game, a Chiefs fan, in the south stands (where the hardcore Broncos fans sat). I wasnt sure we were going to make it out of the stadium (or the south stands for that matter). It was nuts.
I would take Montana over Brady too. Montana didn't have near the rules protecting him back then like QB's have today.
Will be interesting to see what happens to Brady's legacy if things go poorly at Tampa. And much of it won't be Brady's fault, Tampa is just not a well constructed team and that O-line was porous last season. But still... Brady chose to play there.
philipglassrules,
Why compared the Great Joe cool Montana, the GOAT, to a known cheater?
@@benthekeeshond545 bro how did cheat?... Seriously please explain...btw
www.yourteamcheats.com
The rules protect Brady himself? Lol that's funny, never heard that...🤦 btw Brady has already SMASHED Montana's record and nfl records...so ya I'll take Brady all day, Montana had Rice and his whole O'line is in the HOF...i mean look who he had for a defense too...btw that same 49ers team won a super bowl WITHOUT Montana in 1995.... 🤷
@@washburn11000
Why do I have to go over that again? Isn't that redundant? Everybody knew Belicheat and his Cheatriots cheated over the last 20 years. Proven cheaters and so is the crybaby, Brady. Brady was suspended for something? Hopefully, the HOF will penalize him the way baseball treated the PED cheaters.
Dan Deordoff " take me now lord. Ive seen it all " the greatest Monday night football game ever. JOE MONTANA WILL ALWAYS BE THE 🐐
Joe cool 😎😎 before (TB12).
Why Montana will always be in the GOAT conversation.
Montana proved he was the better qb. no question. One of my all time favorite games. Elway getting beat on his home turf. Shannon Sharpe fumbles away ball!
KC was 0=11 in Mile High, since 1982 coming into the game!
Imagine him playing now with all the rule changes. Elway would be the best. Didn't like him cause he beat us but damn had to respect his play!
Been watching the Joe Montana Documentary on Peacock! Legend!
I’m a Giants fan ! But love this game so classic ! Two fantastic Quarterbacks going at it !
Im a packers fan and I completely agree!
One of the best games I ever watched!
Man I miss Frank Gifford
M??? A????? I miss this crew! This was Monday Night Football for me. Not to mention Elway vs Montana. Absolute classic MNF.
HE'S STILL AROUND....i seen him at a motel with a stewardess...ooppss...i meant 'FLIGHT ATTENDENT..... she was attending pretty boy mr. bland at a motel where my work crew was staying.....(ps, don't tell kathy)
So true. Even Lynn Swan was a good sideline reporter.
I miss 'em all. Dierdorf was such a burly, blue collar guy! Gifford's humility, and Al's excitement--great triple threat of announcers in the booth!
Montana is the best
Probably my favorite Monday night game ever.
One of the greatest games in NFL History!
Grew up 15 miles from Candlestick. I remember I was in Florida watching this late on a Monday night because of the time difference and Montana leading them down that last drive on national television. One last time for the best that ever was up to that point.
This video looks great for being now 27 years-old.
Best Monday night FB ever.
I knew about American Football and I love it because of Joe Montana. Guess what my favorite teams are...
Im gonna guess the Toronto Argonauts & Jacksonville Jaguars because you're WILD!
I forget what a cannon Elway had. Holy cow!
Steve Atwater and Dennis Smith was maybe the best safety tandem in the league at one time. Both Pro Bowlers
Master of their game! Wish Monday Night Football was bad ass like this again, I know Sunday Night Football is the show case game now a days.
Best MNF game I ever watched - and why Denver ever changed those uniforms, I'll never know...
Joe Cool did it again.! This was a fantastic game on Monday Night. With just 1:22 seconds and Joe marched the Chiefs down the field to win. For 20 plus years he was the GOAT. After last nights Super Bowl comeback win, the man that grew up in San Mateo California watching Joe and the 49ers, Tom Brady is now the GOAT.
Both Montana and Brady had horrible winning record at mile high and they both had such clutch drives in this stadium but it was Brady who got intercepted for a 2-point conversion in the AFC Championship plus it was against Wade Philips just like this game.
Horrible winning records. 😂😂😂😂
