    My concern to Zack and to the comunity is that in my case with 5 years of IT support, a CCNA from 6 years I’m still struggling to get into Cybersecurity because I don’t have previous Cybersecurity role.

      Could be your salary expectations are to high? Could be your personality? (Not an insult) Could be you aren't very humble? Knowledge is great but if you can't fit within a team then you aren't going to get that job. Could be your location also. Could be a tighter job market.

    I got 2 SANS certs and I can tell you the courses are amazing, but the exams are absolutely designed for you to pass - they are extremely easy. I passed one of the certs without taking the course and back then I only had 1 year of IT support experience, and read thru the whole book of All you need to pass GCIH. And guess what, I passed it...obviously combined with HTB experiences.
    I did take GPEN course and it was a great course put together, but the cert exam itself is extremely easy - easier than the easy box on HTB. No trashing but honest review.

    Hi; I would like to know what to expect in Security Analysts technical round.
    Will they going to give any white board problem?
    Or the questions are scenario based?
    Thanks

    i'm in school right now getting my associate's degree. i'm having trouble deciding on going either the programmer/software developer route or the information/cyber security route. what would you recommend. im trying to enter carrer field as soon as possible and see if whatever job i get can help pay for the rest of my schooling

      try the help desk, its a little bit of IT but its better than non IT

      So I'm finishing my last year in my Software Engineering degree and have worked an IT helpdesk job while in school and have had an internship writing threat modeling tools on an Application Security team for a well known e commerce company. From my experience it really depends on your interests, if you want to be a generalist or work in a software security domain then go for a CS/Comp Eng or Software Eng degree as you'll be exposed to a decent amount of programming which can be really helpful, and that degree can be used for getting a developer job if you decide not to pursue a security career. If you are more interested in working out of a Security Operations Center (I am going to this upcoming summer) or working as a penetration tester/network security engineer then a cyber security program may be better suited. Both are good viable options, my advice to also get an internship is to try and get involved in security projects/research/clubs at your school, get an entry level IT job and attend conferences/CTF's. These will make your resume stand out and internships will not only help pay for your school but will also make it easier to get great jobs after graduation! Hope that helps and good luck :)

    From a monitoring point of view sounds like he's working from darktrace maybe logarithm maybe splunk whatever they use in terms of network logs well that's easy most companies will use solar winds and made some kind of network monitoring tool there's a few varieties around that's what I reckon he's using I'm darktrace by the way is more to do with AI

    Hello there I’m a boy and I really want to get into cyber security but I’m sceptical because I have a nose piercing I wanted to know would this effect my chances of getting a job in this field ?

    • @edwardjaycocks5497
      @edwardjaycocks5497 4 роки тому +1

      Of course your nose piercing will not affect you getting a job in cyber security the question is what kind of cyber security job would you like to do do then I would then train around and that area if you're not totally familiar then do a general cyber security course to begin with that will give you a good grounding and then specialise

    • @edwardjaycocks5497
      @edwardjaycocks5497 4 роки тому +1

      From a networking point of view I think it's good to have the fundamentals it really depends on the kind of cyber security role that a company wants you to do. From my experience in cyber which is a few years I've never really needed to tell very deep into networking at all all that's generally left up to the network engineers as that's their job I'm from a network security point of view you generally a Cisco certified security professional will do that generally however it's good to understand what they're doing and the way things that are connected and where they are connecting to 2 and what is connecting back actually more importantly understanding firewalls is probably better.
