- Rice cooker ribs AND rice cooker curry. I’m taking a humble rice cooker and doing WONDROUS things with it. In this episode of Marion’s Test Kitchen, I’m trying out some of my favourite recipes, but making them in the one appliance. See how I fare making ribs, a tender-as-anything curry… and even a dessert! On the menu: Rice Cooker Chinese-style Ribs, Rice Cooker Beef Korma Curry, Rice Cooker Summer Berry Steamed Pudding

I can't believe I just watched the entire video promoting a rice cooker for
slow cooking and baking. What a great job!
You make it seem like just another one of your great shows.
Thank you for the inspiration and congratulations on the partnership!
Happy cooking,
UB
Hey thanks for watching UB and for the kind words! I really appreciate it!
Love this video! More rice cooker recipes please 😄 It's so convenient.
I bought one of these cookers after seeing your honey soy chicken test. I love this machine, you need to do a whole cookbook using it lol
Can you show us how to make duck? I tried baking whole duck and I failed miserably lol Please do more rice cooker meals. So convenient!! ♥️♥️♥️
I want duck too!!! Love duck, please more duck! 🦆
I’d like to see this too!
She did duck before and is amazing: how to make easy duck pancakes.
Yes more rice cooker meals please! YaaaaaYy!!
Made your fluffy pudding last night ….it came out perfect and everyone loved it…more rice cooker recipes please😊
Hello Sue 👋 how are you doing, it's nice to meet you here on UA-cam
My friend's mom used to cook ribs in the rice cooker too but hers is just a regular one. She has to constantly press the cook button to cook the ribs.
Love my rice cooker. Great recipe for ribs.
So I ordered a Panasonic rice cooker last year after watching one of Marion's videos. However, the rice cooker was out of stock, so I forgot all about it.
Fast forward to last week and a rice cooker turns up on my doorstep (finally!) and there I am going, "what on earth am I going to do with this now??"
And this week... Marion pops up with another rice cooker series!
Fantastic! Hope you love it.
I bought this rice cooker after watching your first test vid with (the microwave) 🤣
Glad you’re testing it out and sharing these recipes as the Cook book that came with the Rice Cooker had very little in it and uninspiring
Thx again Marion you’re a treasure 🇦🇺🥰😋
Hope you like it!
That’s so amazing!!! Everything looks delicious and so amazing that you can cook something so fast. Lovely!
I love how you've brainwashed Dax with your Marionisms 😂
I did the Ribs the other day, turned out wet"ish". So my improved version is to cook it for 40-50min instead and then transfer the ribs to airfryer for another 15-20 minutes on 190c.
This way you get better flaky/crunch outside and juicy soft inside 🧑🍳
Great recipe Marion! Saved me and daughters appetite while wife is away ❤️
It all looks so good and now I'm hungry! I discovered I can use a rice cooker for so many things a few years ago and they do such a good job, it's so easy, everything comes out perfect and that Panasonic looks almost as pretty as you do! Gotta go get something to eat! Hurry back, Marion! 💕💕💕
Thank You Marion. I have been using this Panasonic rice cooker and love it. This is interesting as it gives me more ideas on what to cook. I have cook soup with the slow cook function but water seems to reduce. After watching this video, I think it has to do with the timing. I have also tried baking banana cake and cooking glutinous rice with it. (Don't have to go thru the trouble of soaking the rice). I will try making this dessertI . Looks so good. For baking I will put a piece of parchment paper below. Love this rice cooker 💖🌹
Sooooo glad you're doing this. Epic. I just bought a $200 Zojirushi that I absolutely love! But after a while I was like I wish it wasn't a 1-trick pony. You have given me hope and everything you made looks delicious!!!!
I am sure to try out this recipe. I love everything you made.
I reckon you guys should force Dax to do a one of your recipes just for laughs. See the outcome and how many Marionisms he can use.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome idea!😆 -Team Marion’s Kitchen
I love this rice cooker, I bought one after your first demonstration. Keep the recipes coming please.
this is my exactly my thought on this rice cooker every one i serve thought i spend hours on my food but hahaha and the best part is easy and less cleaning up to do at the end !!!!
I also bought that rice cooker just to do the onepot honey soy chicken and I love the machine. More recipes please maybe Kabuli Pilau - Afghanistani Rice with Mutton
Omg Marion I have the same one for years!!!!!
Hello Emeliana 👋 how are you doing, it's nice to meet you here on UA-cam
The Recipes is so good! especially dessert
I'm limited to an air fryer, slow cooker, rice cooker and microwave where I live which has been a bit of an interesting test to say the least lol. I'd have to say the weirdest meal I cook in my el cheapo rice cooker is a set & forget style 'fried' rice lol. I pre fry the onion, pork/bacon & eggs (Char Siu the meat) in the air fryer & throw all the usual ingredients in with the normal rice cooking cycle except the eggs, peas, spring onions & bean shoots (don't mix, just throw them in). When it's done add the extras and mix everything through with a good lash of sesame oil, leave it on the warm setting for 15 min. Not quite fried rice but it's super easy & tastes surprisingly quite similar lol. I really enjoyed this vid, there are honestly so many things you can cook in a rice cooker, even a ghetto one like mine lol.
Those ribs....mmmm!!! And to finish off with dessert - how awesome!
Allow it looked fantastic!
Yay, I have this machine. Going to try the berry dessert today and ribs the next time my Grandson visits. Thankyou for your great videos
You're welcome! Let me know think when you try them out!
Made the curry tonight in the machine. Amazing!
😳 I need that in my life
Wow I am trying this out.
looks yummy all of your recipes using a rice cooker, it is so fun to see your reactions.🙂
Omg!!!😮I'm buying a rice cooker and following your recipes!!!😋
I think i'm gonna save up for that rice cooker... it's like having an oven and broiler in 1 :)
thank you for sharing
That was so funny, it was as if you had just cooked for the very first time in your life !!! OK, what about this "Cooking with Dack's" CHALLENGE ... we soooooo need this Marion, maybe with the the rice cooker "You guys" and "so pillow fluffy" and "So good"
Love this episode
Looks so delicious them ribs ...
You are a winner Marion...
Bonjour depuis la France. Vous êtes the best.👏👏
That Interesting...I have to try that 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
There a girl on Tiktok who only had a rice cooker for 4 years at uni It is amazing what u can cook in them but this one looks like the only appliance u would ever need!
This would be even better with Pork, Pork ribs are the boss of all ribs!!
Great video Marion! Tell Panasonic to be first to market with a clamp-on handle for removing the inner pot without having to use a tea towel or dish cloth. That would be a game changer in my opinion.
Good point! Haha. I'll let them know!
QVC has them in a set of two
Thanks for sharing
so yummy😁
❤️❤️❤️ Hehee amazing
Looking nice
5-Aug-2023 watching your video. I cooked my simple version of chicken rice in my Philips rice cooker. Washed the rice and add in the chicken drumsticks, a dash of sesame oil and ginger. 35 mins and it’s done. Pork ribs soup with carrots. Noodle soup. Haven’t try baking bread cos no recipe. Baking is a precise process so need to follow instructions properly.
Yummy
I love your channel
Aw thank you!
rice cookers generally heat based on the weight of ingredients, so how do the spices set off the heating?
Nice cooking
Lovely 🌹
I did try it, and it was really amazing. However I used my slowcooker for it. 5 stars
After watching this, I want to get a Panasonic rice cooker. I have a cute 1 cup rice cooker now. Try to cut down eating too much carbs.
Hi marion i love watching you cook you are always so happy
Hi 👋 Janet how are you doing?

Hello 👋 how are you doing
Microprossor rice cookers are amazing for all sorts, I had to use google translate to see what buttons did what because they where all in Thai
Does this have a stainless steel inner pot which can be purchased separately?
I never use stevia in baking don’t like the bitter after taste, but I always use xylitol or erythithol which look and bake like sugar
Can you use it with any rice cooker without all these functions? We have one that has the porridge, brown, white and gaba rice cooking function. Can’t imagine buying another rice cooker, albeit this Panasonic one seems to have more functionality.
Hi Marion
I have a question for you!
Is there a reason you decided to not participate in the latter seasons of MasterChef when they brought past contestants back for back to win, or for the fans vs favourites? I would have loved to see you in it and you would've done amazing!! Is it because of your little ones?
Love your videos xx
Hello Jessica 👋 how are you doing
❤❤❤
Nice ❤️🥰🥰❤️🥰
Nice
mine does not have the slow cooker option as I have a separate slow cooker. I often think that if you use a rice cooker for a main dish but then want rice, I cannot do both at once. Maybe i need to buy one like this and keep my Tefal 10 in 1 and lose my old slow cooker. Looks like this slow cook cooks in 1 or 2 hours and not needing 8hrs
What setting did you use for the ribs? Was it the slow cooker one?
Hi Julia! Here's our written recipe: www.marionskitchen.com/rice-cooker-chinese-style-ribs/

Can I marinade the ribs 1 or 2 hours before cooking them in the rice cooker with the marinade?
Hi Marion!
Can you do a video on onigiri please?
Can you make Cambodia (somlor kako) for make it Wednesday?
First comment....
So delicious and amazing recipe 😋👍🏻👍🏻 really enjoyed your video 😊❤️ nice video 👍🏻 thanks for sharing
Thank you so much 😊
Hello Marion, want to buy a rice cooker such as yours (Panasonic). I hesitate between the 5 cups and the 10 cups. I do cook large batches of spaghetti sauce and wanna try indian cooking pork, lamb and beef. Which one you would suggest ? Thanks for your reply. Love, love your show. Evy from 🇨🇦
Hello Evelyne 👋 how are you doing today
Hi Evelyne, as a general rule, we suggest the 5-cup model if you're feeding 2-5 people or the 10-cup if you're feeding 5+ people. Hope this helps!
My ribs were a bit bonier than these and I think I had an uneven spread of sauce. It did cook the meat well though. If trying again I would mix the sauce to the ribs in a separate bowl then add the ribs to the ricecooker, as I noticed that the coating was scored when cleaning the pan. I did clean beautifully and quickly with detergent and hot water.
Good 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What setting did you use for the ribs?
She used the Soup/Slow Cooker function.
Yes it was the Soup/Slow Cooker function
In the past, my experience with using a slow cooker was that the meat never browned and looked unappetizing. But, it appears that’s what happened to these ribs, the color was beautifully browned. It looked delicious.
I cook too
Rice cooker is wet cooking method. The meat is steamed in thereso it should be super moist.

What happens to the cooked food after you taste it? Does your staff get to enjoy it or do you take some it home to the family?
Usually we eat it so fast after filming that there’s none left to take home! LOL Or sometimes we’ll save it for studio team lunch the next day. Nothing goes to waste!
@@Marionskitchen how wonderful! Thank you for responding Marion. 😊
If you make a curry in the rice cooker where do you cook the rice??? LOL I am getting one of those rice cookers.
Can I cook lentils in this
I wonder if the same can be accomplished using my 20 year old Tiger rice cooker... has a "cook" and a "keep warm" setting, that's it...
put the recipe in the description!!!!!!!!
Hi Marion, unfortunately that rice & multi cooker is not available in Europe :(
So in order to do these things, one has to buy a several 100.00 appliance!!! BOO!!!
Marion - isms....just make every thing super spicy hot !!.......not for those that don't like hot or chilly !!!! not many recipes without all the hot stuff !!!
Hi 👋 Jill how are you doing?
Love ❤️ you. Your do sweet
Hi 👋 Connie how are you doing?
$249.00 here in Canada .. mmm
It's a great recipe. The ingredients are fresh. I'll cook with your recipe at home later!! I'll come back later to see the recipe
would these recipes work in a rice cooker only? I don't have a multi-function rice cooker. Thanks!
I wouldn't do the first two. It can be done, but you'd have to baby sit it. I have done cake in one in the past, and it did actually work, but I did a rather then one with the Jiffy box.
The problem is if I cook the pork/ beef in a rice cooker, where will I cook my rice to go with them?
I had the same problem, what I do in that case, I make rice the day before, and make it a fried rice side dish. @video, I'm def going to make those dishes, I have fuzzy rice cooker as well. No the panasonic one though, I went for a cheaper option... Because I wasn't sure, but if this one breaks down I'm definitely forking over more money for a proper rice cooker.
Can you write all the ingredients?
I have tried. The problem is cleaning. A lot of grease gets onto the plate underneath the lid and it's a nightmare to clean. Otherwise, it totally ruins the taste if not thoroughly cleaned. I would not recommend using it for anything oily and strong in taste or aroma.
I agree. I could not use my cooker for curry and then a dessert as you have done. I can't get the aroma out of the top section. The dessert would smell and taste of curry. Very hard to clean and it needs airing out with the lid open.
Kk
So it's not a rice cooker only.
Yup, it’s a multicooker. I’ve had one for years, ironically the rice cooker function isn’t convenient for small portions (1 - 2 people) so I still use our actual rice cooker for that 🤣
How does that rice cooker know the difference....... I have a two setting rice cooker on and off... and i cook chicken and beef, shrimp, rice of course, grains, cous cous..... all by trial and error... but I don't how and what these multi button rice cookers do, I mean like an oven ... it doesnt do anything but cook, bake... thousands of things at different temps, how does this know,, how does it sense..... or is it just us as the cooks have to just keep checking it all the time and write down the time it took..... cuz thats i've had to do with my on and off only Aroma cooker, its about 15 years old, before they got popular..... i'm so so curious before I invest in a newer one before this one i have dies..... that all looks deeeeeeelish
Its been long
Hope you can make all these dishes with crickets and meal worms too, Marion ... because that's what we will all be eating soon.
Make it wednesday? :(((
Bones not ribs 🤣
I live in Japan there are better cookers than that
