      It’s wierd that when you take her anger she becomes so numb, but Pike is never better, isn’t fear also a good emotion that helps us to evaluate our decisions?

    • @edwardsuou

      @@roxii7190 that’s completely insane and unreasonable
      That’s my take, feel free to disagree and say why I’m wrong about whatever.
      Charlotte still has anger as she attacks, judges and blames you in the final confrontation
      She just express it without yelling
      Also she was going through a serious trauma with clear dis-functional thoughts to hurt herself and the others she otherwise love. On the other hand Spike’s fear is replaced with more competence rather than what anyone would expect: recklessness. The fear he felt never made him be unrational that was highly functional as you need to be extremely careful when you do his job not just blindly attack injustice otherwise you would cause trouble to people and get in trouble yourself, that’s the role of fear, sometimes you need to keep it in reasonable level as it can paralyze you when it matters but if you are not careful you won’t accomplish anything either as you would be stopped or die before.
      What Spike said to Alex is just a recipe to be responsible, careful and not get in trouble she can’t handle. If she didn’t sign the document and Jed was not extremely remorseful and one step from confessing she would’ve most likely gone to prison. There was no way to foresee that so Spike was damn right, she needed a miracle and you cannot rely on that if you are not an idiot. Also the confession doesn’t require any charges from Alex so even if you do sign it Typhoon still goes down the second Jed confesses in public.

      Yeah... the thing is, I made the same choice because, when Alex said something about Charlotte hurt herself, or that she may die or something like that, I thought she was gonna commit suicide... and I wanted to avoid that possible outcome. Later, in the Spring Festival, you find Charlotte near the lake and I thought "Damn! If I didn't take the anger, she would probably just drown herself". And there were also some more hints along the rest of the game that suggested she might have had hurt herself or Ethan. Oh well...

    • @edwardsuou
      @edwardsuou Рік тому

      @@mariovalentim4164 exactly, the thing is this game just has a ton of bad choices as thinking smartly is penalized
      For instance you can have Charlotte sign the document to not sue typhoon so she can get responsibly money for her son and then the game freaking calls you a coward for doing that as it expects you to always fight it even when it’s ludicrous. Taking Spike’s fear so you can be reckless to not sign the document preventing you from going to jail strikes me as the most absurd and stupid choice. (With just good consequences btw)

      @@mariovalentim4164Because you took her anger and left her feeling empty inside, her commenting about the lake implies what might happen because of that action... She says that there's something wrong with her at the end of the game too and it's not going away.

    Taking away her anger seems like such an extremely disturbing decision; I get that she's going through negative emotions, but it's one step in her eventual healing process, and taking away her anger not only interferes with that immediate process but also has even wider effects that make her a shell of a person afterward... I'm extremely worried for her mental health in the long run after that.

    I think at the beginning they kinda very subtly hint at how letting Charlotte deal with her own emotions is the better option when Gabe talks about having to apologize to her. But the one thing that makes me lean toward taking her anger is the fact that Alex says it cld kill her if she doesn't. I rly like how the dialogue is what can sometimes make u question decisions longer than just going for what could be considered the "obvious choice"

    • @PlayingWithHeart
      @PlayingWithHeart  2 роки тому +4

      I completely agree! Most of the time that dialogue is really helpful to see both sides, but sometimes it's a bit too leading to me (e.g. Calm Mac / Walk Away... "Does he deserve it" always steers me to Calm)

    Hello!
    This is probably the best example of a choice that’s very difficult on a first playthrough, but very easy on a second one. And quite frankly, that bothers me a bit. Or a lot, I should say. There doesn’t seem to be ANY benefit from taking Charlotte’s anger, but solely negative consequences. Which is kinda … lame? Even with Mac, you could argue that it’s better if he leaves the town for his own sake, or that his actions are bad enough that he deserves it. (I mean, I definitely don’t think so, but I see why others might.)
    But with Charlotte? Sure, on a first playthrough, you might fear that her anger could kill her, and take it for that reason. It IS important to provide choices where the consequences aren’t clear, and where you can make arguments for both options. But on a second playthrough, you literally have no good reason to take Charlotte’s anger, and that … really sucks, I think. While it certainly makes sense that it’s better to leave her alone, I really wanted a more nuanced consequence here. As in, maybe not taking her anger and making one, two other choices actually do cause negative consequences for Charlotte and/or Ethan? I just really want a justification to make this choice on a second playthrough aside from doing a “bad run” ^^
    Oh well. At least the majority of other choices are very nuanced, even on a second playthrough :)

  • @WolfyFancyLads
    @WolfyFancyLads Рік тому +1

    A common thing people who took the anger say is that they were worried she'll hurt herself, but people don't really self harm if angry, anger is an outward emotion not an inward one. Furthermore, suppressing anger increases blood pressure, being very angry is bad for your heart, and it doesn't let you resolve anything. Say you're angry at your partner, that anger will linger as a memory to come back later. It doesn't just disappear, it needs to be dealt with. (there's healthy ways to deal with it, it doesn't need to be explosive)
    If you think about it, leaving her be is the obvious choice.

    • @bugcatcherjacky1334
      @bugcatcherjacky1334 Рік тому +1

      So you wouldn't consider "punching a wall in anger and breaking your hand" self harm?
      Some people, when angry, see red and it can cause them to do things that'll get them hurt/killed.

    • @WolfyFancyLads
      @WolfyFancyLads Рік тому

      @@bugcatcherjacky1334 It's an outlet. A bad one, granted, fractures are likely, but doing that will process some of her rage and is ultimately better for her health. Sure, anger can cause people to do stupid shit, but we're normally talking social situations, alcohol involved, revenge for injustice, these are normally cases that ruin lives. Punching a wall, while physically painful, is still better than bottling it up and letting it explode later or causing an emotional instability that could lead to suicide (I know I said anger wouldn't cause self harm, but bottling it up can because then your brain processes it incorrectly and can lead to degradation of your mental state)
      I suppose the long and short of it is more in _this_ case, losing a loved one but not having a proper target to blame, she's likely not to come to much harm. Even when destructive, fits of untargeted rage don't often leave people too badly injured, and what injuries they get aren't purposefully self inflicted but rather just side effects of their actions. Hopefully I've explained myself properly, I sometimes get lost in a ramble. ^^"

    Just finished playing True Colors and discovered your channel, cool stuff!
    Thanks for the hard work on figuring out all the consequences of the actions, truly awesome (that should be a LiS power on its own)
    As for this video, yeah this was a crucial choice, but it was easy for me to make it
    I just knew that messing up with people's feelings was not okay and could in fact lead to the opposite intended effect
    Like if I were an evil game designer I would totally make Charlotte go the Kate Marsh route or similar if you take her anger specially after that dialogue of Alex saying "this anger could kill her"
    (Yeah, "this anger" as in "this anger away from her", wink wink)
    And I think they sneaked some parts in to lead people believe that that might happen, so that's my headcanon now and I'm glad I didn't take her anger.
    As for Pike, I didn't take his fear for the same reason. A cop without feeling fear? yikes.
    Too bad there wasn't repercussions or hints about that option going south, in fact it is actually a good thing in the game and it does kinda makes sense
    But idk, my evil brain just wanted just a notch of taking away Pike's fear messing him up in the end, like: "you want Pike and everyone's (included Ryan) support?, great, just take away Pike's fear, but don't come crying once you learn what he is capable of doing now muahaha"
    Idk maybe I missed some classic "whatever ending you get is going to be a hurtful one" kind of thing, like the previous installments. Where in those you choose the least worst ending, but here all endings seems pretty okay
    Anyways, I did not expect to make such a long comment, lol. I did notice you have your LiS playthroughs still around, those will be my new "play in the background" videos for a while, cheers!

      I'm with you there. I wanted to see more of an affect with Pike's fear. I didn't do a video on it (yet?) because there isn't a tremendous amount that changes sadly. Some for sure, but not enough and it mostly affects Alex, but barely. It felt like a minor choice than a major one with the effects.
      And yes! I think you nailed the part that felt missing. I didn't realize it until now. I LOVE this game, but ya.. the ending wasn't heartbreaking. This game is much more about the experience throughout than the final result though, and I'm ok with that. But ya.. thanks for helping reconcile that for me lol

  • @edwardsuou
    @edwardsuou Рік тому +4

    This choice makes me incredibly angry :
    1- there are no ways to foresee that as that power is not well established
    We know next to nothing about it and it literally present itself in that very scene.
    2-this contradicts what happens to spike, he doesn’t become a vegetable at all. And this is unbelievably ridiculous considering unlike Charlotte having a drive attack the people she blames for her lost Spike’s fear is extremely functional to his job and his life in general. being afraid of falling from a hill makes you careful about it generally and when you are a cop you need to avoid being reckless as being fearless would cause people to get a lot of problems or even dying. (The way he dissuades Alex from going against an organization she can’t handle is reasonable as he has no idea Jed is involved or that he’s feeling too much guilt on his shoulders already and is one step from confessing everything, it’s nice to have people support you but it doesn’t matter that much, what matters is the confession and if it doesn’t happen Spike gave the best instructions to Alex to stay alive and protect herself as much as she can.)
    3- eventually she is still remorseful and attacks, judges and blames you even though you were supposed to have taken those things away, double contradiction. To the point it’s not that you have taken something from her alongside her anger but you took most of her others things in her emotional life and her anger just changed its form. This is *not* coherent with what the game said.
    4- there are indeed good reasons to cope with your anger and frustration and keep them under a limit, otherwise it’s going to be toxic for you and everyone around you. At the same time some of the thoughts she had in that “emphatic reading” sequence are” were not normal at all, the way she blames Ryan and Ethan is extreme. It was a damn traumatic experience too hard for many to get over it, the Kate Marsh example is perfect as she is saved just at the last second, sometimes, by focusing on something else other than her despair. If she had a way to forget that impact and somehow get all that out of her head the video would’ve become less and less popular as time passed and she would’ve felt better eventually, most importantly she wouldn’t risk her life, her trauma as well as Charlotte’s are meant to be taken seriously.
    5- last but not least the alternative to that choice sounds immensely awful as it’s basically presented as “not my problem” “just leave her on her own in the most difficult time of her life up to that point”.
