Please do a mid/low range work boot series! I feel like alot of the guy that watch your video like me are wearing boots like wolverine, redwings work series, timberland pro, ect. Boots in that $100 to $230 range with steel toes or safety toe
@Artorias of the Abyss right! I recently bought wolverines durashock moc toe and have been loving it. Id pay to see it cut and half to see what i paid for!
I can dig this as well. Georgia boot, Wolverine, and maybe a couple others. I specifically wondering if you’ve done any of the Wolverine moc toes. I see mixed info/reviews about the i90. Some places says it’s American made with a Goodyear welt and some places don’t really say.
@twinglock40z im not sure if its a true goodyear welt or not but they are super comfy and reduce foot fatigue alot! Been working in factories in the midwest for about 10 years now. I have went though a lot of boots 2 pairs a year and these are my favorites by far!
@@libertard6101 It’s pretty ironic you would say that. I will not get into details, but my career revolves around having an intimate knowledge of the cartels, their operations, and logistics chain. I e got one pair of boots and it’s some Red Wing 1907s, I’ve been loving them for the past year, worn almost every day. So glad you got your hands on a pair and got to rank them, totally agree with all rounder status. I climb trees, do light work, lots of walking (college campus), and much much more in them.
Absolutely love my Carolina CA7811 boots! They're built arguably as well as the Red Wing's and Thorogood's. What ultimately sold me on the Carolina's is they're super comfortable right out of the box and have almost no break-in period like the Red Wing and Thorogoods. They're as comfortable after 2 years as they were the first day! The Carolina's are $80 cheaper than the Thorogoods and $100 cheaper than the Red Wing's, too!
I’m a small engine mechanic. I switched to those minimalist lems about a decade ago and they are wonderful. No back pain from walking on concrete all day.
I picked up a pair of Allen Edmonds Freeport boots on Black Friday and have been very pleased with them. Definitely more on the fashion and less on the job site side but that is fine with me.
Love you having to reassure the men to stick around and explain to them there are women in their life who might enjoy boots lol. As one of your female fans I went from getting knock off docs, to real docs, to Nicks, to omg I can't wait until my nicks arrive so I picked up some Redbacks while I continue to wait for my Nicks Urban Loggers in about a year's time. I might not do construction anymore, and I wish I had looked into quality boots then, but I can still appreciate something that's going to last, something that's going to hold up, something that will be just as comfortable on cement floors or a wooden stage, in my garage, traveling or anything else I put them through. I'm a little curious to see if TSA questions why there are so many nails in my boots when I take my Nicks to Germany
LOL “working” construction. Every once in a while I see women on site. They always seem to have clean clothes and boots, with a guy nearby to do the heavy lifting.
Great video. The only Moctoe experience I have is one that wasn't listed. I have 2 versions of the Wolverine 1000 Mile. They have a Alden Indy meets Red Wing look. The wedge sole with the soft Lux leather is really comfortable. The other pair has a traditional heel with a much stiffer leather. The heel wasn't balanced well, so I had it reworked, which made it much more comfortable.
Hi Mr Anvil! Great channel! love watching your vids. I was wondering whether you would contemplate doing some tests on British/European varieties of shoes? Over here in the UK we can get some US made boot brands very easily (namely redwing, thorogood, Danner etc), but others are harder to come by. However, there are lots of European made boots (I just bought a nice moc toe boot from an online store that's made in Portugal for what seems like great value) so might be interesting content to compare the quality against US boots? I would be happy to assist you in sourcing any boots to be tested etc! All the best! Keep up the good fight!
I've been a fan for 2 or 3 years now. And I sat through the review of the men's boots until you got to the ones I was interested in. I guess some of us have more patience.
Sending $400 to China, hahaha ok. Not going to happen for me especially when you can get a nice pair of American made Thorogood, Red Wing, or Danners. The hipsters can keep their Grant Stones, I'll stick with the brands mentioned.
The Red Wing 877s and 875s are marketed as built on the same last. But, the toe boxes on the two boots are very different. The 875 toe box is noticeably taller. The 877 toe box is noticeably wider, resulting in a much more comfortable boot.
I went with the Carolina CA7811 (steel toe), partly because it's US made in a union but mostly because it was just the most comfortable out of all the ones I could try, including Red Wing and Thorogood. I really wish you'd do more steel toe boots, even if you dedicated a second (third) channel just to safety toe work boots.
Believe it or not, Eddie Bauer makes surprisingly good boots for the price during their sales. I have a pair of their leather weatherproof moctoes that have survived impressively well up here in Chicago.
I have the 1907's. I don't have the Grantstones. I would also put the 1907's at #1, but strictly by personal preference. I completely believe that looking at materials or construction quality, the Grantstones may have a slight edge (though I think some of the "advantages" are preference based). Being that I am a regular guy living in the real world, though, I have to admit that some things that might not objectively matter or things that we are supposed to ignore in certain instances for the sake of comparison are still going to matter to me. I like the heritage and history of Redwing. I like that the 1907's are made in USA. I also very much appreciate the value of the 1907's, looking at what I get vs what I have to spend. So, when I look at the fact that the 1907's cost less while simultaneously being made in USA, along with the very high quality of the boots, it's an easy choice for me.
Something I find remarkable is that here in Australia, the Red Wing 875 costs $575 while the Thorogood American Heritage is somehow as low as $127.91! Sure it would be nice to have the option of a leather in-sole but the price difference makes it a no-brainer when I could buy four pairs of Thorogoods and still have money left over.
No joke, just had a look and you're right. Going to buy a pair of Thorogood's for my next work boot - that seems insane value. Happy to see they do steel caps!
I am a dairy farmer and have been for almost 50 years. My boots go on at 4 am and come off at 8 pm everyday. I have worn Red Wings all my career and absolutely love the durability. I can get a year out of them and then a resolve and get another 6 months. My problem is now finding my size. I wear a size 16eeee boot and my shoe dealer has told me that Red Wing is no longer going to be making that size. I have been doing internet searches and can’t find any of the quality boot makers making boots in my size. Really don’t want to go to sneakers or hiking boot so if anybody could give me any leads I would greatly appreciate it.
I would suggest looking into Franks Boots. They do a lot of custom work and you can send in a fit sheet so they can build the boots to your exact foot shape. The boots are going to be expensive but you can send them in to get resoled as well as rebuilt (removing and replacing the sole and the lower section of leather on the boot). Those two services will grant you lots of longevity with your boots. Hope you are able to find a boot builder that fits your needs!
This a great and informational video about moc toes! So cool of you that you did your research and showed the different aspects of each pair of boots!👏
Flame Panda's moc toe is better than the Nicks. Just as beefy/tanky, way cleaner construction, more interesting/beautiful leathers, cooler outsole options, the option of the beautiful 1.5 midsole (double under the forefoot tapering to a single (thick) layer of midsole at the mid-foot), super customisable, and probably an even better fit since he's very willing to customise lasts. Plus, even customisable construction, if you want stitchdown, GYW, a true Norwegian welt, etc., and it's all hand-stitched. The NIcks are very good, but Flame Panda is the world's best moc toe.
Went into a Red Wing store in Calgary over the weekend, did not have what I wanted in stock. Went to two different websites to buy one online, both sites had technical issues that prevented me from completing the purchase. Should not be so difficult to buy a pair of boots.
I would like to see him do a review on boot laces leather laces and just regular material laces and see which ones are the best and ones to avoid. I got my first pair of nicks leather laces this past Christmas lasted for a week when I was tightening the laces on of them broke apart I do like them become they stayed tied and never became un tied so that's a plus so I got a new pair of nicks leather laces replaced the old ones with the new ones again same thing happened but it happened when I got my replacement ones it it broke again but it was the day that the new ones came. I don't know if the nicks leather laces are less durable or just the packaging makes them less strong or is it just me liking my boots a good tight fit not too tight but snug
Would love if toe squish* or wide toe box was a category for each boot review. My feet don't fit in standard wide sizes and if I'm going to spend more money on a better made boot, I want to know if my wide af feet will fit
I have a similar issue. I own Lem's in the medium wide, and they are great. You could get the widest option if you want, but they already have a super wide toe box because they are barefoot style
@@A.Guy10000 yeah lems fit me well. I just want to hear about like nicks or whites or jks since they're so much money if they have a wider tow box. I honestly can't wear "normal" shoes anymore
I found out there's a big tradition of boot making in Indonesia and you can pick up custom handmade boots for a lot less than other places. Would like to see some of those boots get cut apart and hear your opinion on them.
I watched some reviews that Rose Anvil did on Indonesian boots and decided to give Sagara a shot. Hand-made by Bagus in Indonesia with quality materials. I opted for their hiker boot with green Badalassi veg tan leather with a wedge sole and they are absolutely beautiful in hand. Quite heavy due to the amount of leather but none of my boots turn heads like the Sagaras. Absolutely recommended. They’re my favorite (next to the Nicks mic toes I recently received which are superb) currently within my boot line-up that includes multiple red wings, grant stones, Allen Edmonds, etc. The only issue with MTO is the lead time but the wait is well worth it for a custom boot.
Irish Setter Ashby or Carolina AMP Moc Toes are pretty damn good. In my humble opinion. I don’t remember you ever giving them a look. And I don’t know what you’d find inside but they are great boots for standing on concrete floors. Not to mention the Ashby is a hell of a bargain.
I completely agree with the Carolina AMP boots. They are extremely well made and comfortable from the minute you put your foot into them. I don’t see much if any downside to them for what your paying for them.
Truman boot co, upland moc toe may rival the nicks boots moc toe in terms of quality. It would be cool to see one of those cut up. Also the redwing 877 is not the same construction as a 875. The uppers are completely different in style and construction. Nice video series, thanks!
I purchased the Rock Rooster Moc Toe for work off of your review and they have held up really well for about a year of medium duty use. I would even be tempted to put them top 10 in the overall rankings with a decent leather and resoleable Vibram wedge.
I have to agree too. I put a pair through 9 months of extremely hard factory use including lots of chemical exposure and my 300 pound bodyweight. They are captive boots, so I did not condition them. They are almost as good as new now that I put new insoles in them last week.
I bought my first pair of Grant Stone Brass boots because of your videos and wanted to see for myself if they were really a great product... I love my boots since day one Thank you! For your videos keep up the great work 💪💪
Please review Irish Setter Ashbys, Wolverine I-90 moc toes/Wolverine 3173, Skechers moc toes please! Also Double H DH 3567! All great boots with my experiences as a Union commercial electrician! Very interested to see the results! Great video as always bro!
I try to avoid Made in China. For me, it's about sending less business to a government that sponsors slavery--specifically the Uighers. Individual businesses aren't to blame for this, and it's really hard to completely get away from MIC. Just throwing this out there so people will understand one reason why some others avoid China-made, even if the companies doing business there are a-ok.
New Subscriber Here! Love your channel! Looking for work boots. Mostly 10 hr days on concrete w/ 10k to 20k steps a day. Like to have Carbon-Fiber Toe. I wear a Keen boot now it's best I have had a Keen Utility Mens Independence 6 Leather Waterproof Composite Toe. It's American made it says. So hope it's not a garbage boot there about 200 so maybe a review down the road any chance Peace to all Boot Lovers!
Been trying to find a moc toe for a while now. Watched this channel for ideas & have to wonder why it ignored the Russell boot? I found the company totally by accident & they seem to b a great boot.
So many of these boots seem designed for people who just want to wear boots rather than shoes, but not necessarily a specific purpose. Have you ever done a ranking of upland bird hunting boots as I’ll probably be looking for a new pair for this fall? Thanks.
I bought my grant stone boots a year ago and I will admit it’s one of the BEST quality boots that I own. The leather and craftsmanship are amazing and seriously will compete with alden, carmina, etc
Comfort goes out the window after a full day of walking and standing on memory foam. Talk about heavy strain on your legs! Also, almost everyone I know at work and among my friends think pointed boots like the Alden's look outright stupid. We all compare it to foot binding and people who can't run because their feet are deformed.
Great video. I would definitely take Grant Stone, Redwing n Thorogood b4 the Whites Perry. My favorites are Nicks Moc Toes, was fortunate to get a custom build b4 they stopped doing customs. Lovin my Saint Nicks Santa Moc Toes. Thnx for the video n I didn't see a Truman Upland Moc? Curious how those are
Just bought a pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile wedge moc toes with Horween Lux leather. Where would they rank? Also wondering if anyone has any experience with this model?
One your value picks in the past is the rock rooster. i wanted to let you know their build quality went downa lot for the ones I got my brother vs mine, so was curious if you had a replacement
Could you please make a video on Geox shoes? They are the worst out of worst shoes I've ever bought and I really feel sad for every cent I spent on them. Half of their heels was gone within half year, my feet went wet even in mild rain or walking in some minor puddles. I just decided to throw them out after half a year of wearing. I believe they are really cheating people because their price would suggest that Geox has at least some minimal quality but I found out that they sell the worst shoes I've ever bought.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something. How is the Thorogood a good heavy duty work boot? It’s made with lower quality materials across the board than Red Wing. Yet you only ranked the Red Wing for light duty work?
Wore RW slip-ons for 25+ years. Changed to the short RW mocks 5 years ago and loving them. Thought about trying the Thorogoods just to compare but after this video I think I’ll stick with the Red Wings. BTW china is not just another country like Mexico, they are Communists! Big difference. Thanks for the video.🇺🇸✌🏻🇺🇸
How about the boots from Japan? Japanese brands have always been "craftsman's heart", but is this really the case? I saw a lot of Japanese local brands here, of which I bought a pair of boots from ”Slow wear Lion“. this brand introduction said that it is more comfortable than any other brand. I don't know if Rose is interested in making Japanese-made boots.
Well, I really like my White's Perry. Price and materials are a great value. The fit is spot on. I have been wearing them in the house cause I don't want to ruin them in winter time. I thought my Danner Bull Runs would be ranked a little higher. I got 3 years out of them before I had them resoled. And, they had heavy use in the transportation field.. I did also get another pair of Danners for weekends cause they are the best looking black leather I have found. I will think about the Red Wing 1907 cause you make that a better boot then the Iron Ranger. Thanks for a outstanding series on Moc Toes. They are my favorite type of boot and, I know I am a small segment of boot wearers...
Been in the trades for 17 years and found wedge soles do not have enough grip for most jobsites. That's why I went with the Thorogood 1957 8" flyaway boots cuz they come with more aggressive soles and are waterproof maybe. I'd love to see a real world test between the wedge and the more "northwest" style soled Thorogoods 1957s.
One of my favorite moc toe boots for work are the keen Cincinnati comp toe work boot, the boot is great, I am going onto year 4 wearing the same boot for work with no complaints. The only thing I have done to the is a resole and they put the Redwing sole on them. Little breakin time and leather has lasted thru my ethanol job.
Thorogood is definitely better because they're not overpriced, they are comfortable without needing a special last, and are a perfect wedge sole work boot at a decent price. They have a solid place / purpose. The Alden is kind of lost, more of a high top dress shoe than a utilitarian boot and the materials aren't as premium as the price when that matters even more in the world of dress shoes. BTW if I'm not mistaken, Weinbrenner sources their leather from Horween, no the Thorogoods aren't Chromexel ( the 1892 series used it though) but the leather is tanned by Horween, and unlike the aldens there's no heavy pigment on top.
Pode fazer um vídeo explicando a bota wolverine floorhand steel toe Black? É minha bota favorita e eu adoraria se fizesse um vídeo mostrando os detalhes 😊
I bought a pair of Thorogood moc toe slip-on boots, I'm a welder by trade, constantly on concrete for 8-10 hours a day and then working in my shop when I get home. These boots get worn every day, get showered in sparks every day, and I love how comfortable they are, but after six months they're already coming apart where the stitching is on the sides.
I own both lasts (45 and 23) of the Red wings, the 1907's and some 8863's (slate muleskinner) and I've got to tell you, the 1907's are on a whole other level. The 1907's had virtually no break in period while the 8863's were BRUTAL! As far as comparing them to the Grant Stones...I've never owned them, and your video was very informational. In the end... They're not Red Wings! But really, it's the aesthetics of the field boot that's a deal breaker. The construction quality just doesn't make up for how unappealing I find them. 1907's for me... ALL DAY! (side note: the 1907's probably won in the poll because not as many people own the Field Boot as the 1907's. I've never even seen them in real life. Let's be honest, Red Wing owners, me included, are fanatical)
I really wanna see you review the Whites Fulton honey lug moc toes they’re fairly affordable for $340 I’m currently obsessed with them but waiting to see if you make a video first before purchasing I will probably try them anyways as soon as the snow clears

Would like to see some of those boots get cut apart and hear your opinion on them.
already done, his kangaroo leather video
We need a video on best hiking boots! : )
@The Green Man yup, I have them and zero downside. $210
Truman boot co, upland moc toe may rival the nicks boots moc toe in terms of quality. It would be cool to see one of those cut up.
Also the redwing 877 is not the same construction as a 875. The uppers are completely different in style and construction.
Nice video series, thanks!
How about a Wedge-vember for those wedge soles with no moc.
I purchased the Rock Rooster Moc Toe for work off of your review and they have held up really well for about a year of medium duty use. I would even be tempted to put them top 10 in the overall rankings with a decent leather and resoleable Vibram wedge.
I agree I have had a pair for almost a year wearing them daily and they should be talked about more. For the price point they are hard to beat
I have to agree too. I put a pair through 9 months of extremely hard factory use including lots of chemical exposure and my 300 pound bodyweight. They are captive boots, so I did not condition them. They are almost as good as new now that I put new insoles in them last week.
What is your opinion on the new version?
I bought my first pair of Grant Stone Brass boots because of your videos and wanted to see for myself if they were really a great product... I love my boots since day one Thank you! For your videos keep up the great work 💪💪
Please do this with MITUSA!
Danner should be higher up my favorite boot brand. Never tried the mock toe tho
Just throwing this out there so people will understand one reason why some others avoid China-made, even if the companies doing business there are a-ok.
agreed, supporting chinese businesses is supporting the CCP, and allows them the economic power to continue perpetrating serious human rights abuses.
wait til you hear about what the American government has done and still does
Good stance
New Subscriber Here! Love your channel! Looking for work boots. Mostly 10 hr days on concrete w/ 10k to 20k steps a day. Like to have Carbon-Fiber Toe. I wear a Keen boot now it's best I have had a Keen Utility Mens Independence 6 Leather Waterproof Composite Toe. It's American made it says. So hope it's not a garbage boot there about 200 so maybe a review down the road any chance Peace to all Boot Lovers!
I would like to see a full review of Keen's CINCINNATI 6"
Been trying to find a moc toe for a while now. Watched this channel for ideas & have to wonder why it ignored the Russell boot? I found the company totally by accident & they seem to b a great boot.
Red wing suck. Bunion soar foot bloody back heels.
I bought my 1907's on October 2nd and I absolutely love them. They're fantastic boots and rotate well with my iron rangers and premium Timberlands.
I second this and I felt like I broke them in a few days
Great job as usual... Keep up the great work!
So many of these boots seem designed for people who just want to wear boots rather than shoes, but not necessarily a specific purpose. Have you ever done a ranking of upland bird hunting boots as I’ll probably be looking for a new pair for this fall? Thanks.
Check out the SFS line from Nike. Its their tactical line of boots and shoes.
I bought my grant stone boots a year ago and I will admit it’s one of the BEST quality boots that I own. The leather and craftsmanship are amazing and seriously will compete with alden, carmina, etc
Love this, any plans to rate the luosjiet moc toe boots?
Comfort goes out the window after a full day of walking and standing on memory foam. Talk about heavy strain on your legs! Also, almost everyone I know at work and among my friends think pointed boots like the Alden's look outright stupid. We all compare it to foot binding and people who can't run because their feet are deformed.
I’m 46 and I’ve only worn Red Wing work boots since I was 17. I’ve been wearing the 4200’s for a few years now. Have I been buying a good work boot?
Great video. I would definitely take Grant Stone, Redwing n Thorogood b4 the Whites Perry. My favorites are Nicks Moc Toes, was fortunate to get a custom build b4 they stopped doing customs. Lovin my Saint Nicks Santa Moc Toes. Thnx for the video n I didn't see a Truman Upland Moc? Curious how those are
They still offer custom moc toes
Would love to see a review on some nike military boots.
How about cutting open a pair of Truman Black Shrunken Bison Upland Moc Toe Boots.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something. How is the Thorogood a good heavy duty work boot? It’s made with lower quality materials across the board than Red Wing. Yet you only ranked the Red Wing for light duty work?
Awesome video! Keep it coming.
Come on guys for those who rated have you guys not been watching his channel?
How about the boots from Japan? Japanese brands have always been "craftsman's heart", but is this really the case? I saw a lot of Japanese local brands here, of which I bought a pair of boots from ”Slow wear Lion“. this brand introduction said that it is more comfortable than any other brand. I don't know if Rose is interested in making Japanese-made boots.
I really enjoyed this Moctobervembercemberuary.
WHAT ABOUT THE SKECHERS kadmiel - bennot work boot I HAVE THEM AND THE ARE GOOD AND LIGHT
Been in the trades for 17 years and found wedge soles do not have enough grip for most jobsites. That's why I went with the Thorogood 1957 8" flyaway boots cuz they come with more aggressive soles and are waterproof maybe. I'd love to see a real world test between the wedge and the more "northwest" style soled Thorogoods 1957s.
can you do a "best logger boots" vid? i need a big heel bc i have plantar fasciitis
The Red Wings just look better than the Grant Stones
Looking to buy my first pair of Mocs. I’m steering towards the 1907. I’m a 10.5 with a relatively narrow foot should I go true to size?
Still looking for a Golden Fox review
One of my favorite moc toe boots for work are the keen Cincinnati comp toe work boot, the boot is great, I am going onto year 4 wearing the same boot for work with no complaints. The only thing I have done to the is a resole and they put the Redwing sole on them. Little breakin time and leather has lasted thru my ethanol job.
It's time for motorbike urban style boots. Some brands like tcx and forma...
Is there anything else better than lems with similar fit? Red wings just don’t fit me
Digging a hole. Good timing 😂
I have been wearing for the last 18 years the 405 Redwing, this is the first time but the squeak when I walk, just the left boot. Why is it? Lol..
USA made is pretty important to me so I would put the redwings over the grant stones for sure.
Nice video, what about the Thursday boot
one question: how are keen not on this list
Years ago, I wore the Sears Diehard moc toe boots. Really liked them
This is one of my favorite channels I really enjoy your videos I’m so glad I found this
Would love to see the Grant Stone Brass boot cut in half and ranked for this year’s Moc-fall/winter 😂
I’d like to so you review Courtenay Selous boots .
Wear a 1907 on most work days as a general contractor. Really great boot….after the break-in 😂
C"mon Weston, 877 and 875 are not the same boot. The construction is complete different. It's not very difficult to realize that.
"It's not very difficult to realize that" A bit condescending, but sure.
I'd like to see you look into jk boots
Pode fazer um vídeo explicando a bota wolverine floorhand steel toe Black? É minha bota favorita e eu adoraria se fizesse um vídeo mostrando os detalhes 😊
Weston. You're the Beston! Your reviews are so much more informative and fun than the other boot review sights . Keep it up buddy ! 👍👍
Please do Camper brand shoes
I bought a pair of Thorogood moc toe slip-on boots, I'm a welder by trade, constantly on concrete for 8-10 hours a day and then working in my shop when I get home. These boots get worn every day, get showered in sparks every day, and I love how comfortable they are, but after six months they're already coming apart where the stitching is on the sides.
My favorite moc toe is the Thorogood 6-inch midnight series. Though, I don't wear them for work.
Damn I would love to get my hands on some Whites Perry's or Nicks anythings lol I think th Redwing 1907 is a great boot def one of my favorite boots.
