    Hi, howmuch should the piston ring end gap be? The manual states 0.05 - 0.2mm but that seems a bit less to me.

    Is it possible to wire a rev counter to this engine

    Hi, great videos mate! Thanks a lot! I have question, what thickness of cylinder base gasket you use? I got three thickness, so i was wondering what should i use? Maybe the thinnest one?
    Thanks!

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  10 років тому +4

      Hi !
      I use the thinnest one (0,3mm) to get closer to the recommended squish of 1,5mm. In fact with the 0,3mm gasket I have a squish of 1,7mm. If I put the 0,5mm gasket I would have a squish of 1,9mm, etc...
      More you reduce gasket thickness more you increase torque.

      Romain Quiban
      Thanks man..
      Yes, as I think so.. I put thinnest one, so i'll see what's going to happen.. I'm not going to measure compression space, but i'll see when startup engine how it's going to sound, power output, etc..
      Thanks for info anyway..
      Great work and videos. You done job well, like a pro. :)
      Keep great work.
      And.. what camera did you use for filming?

    Can you change the piston without dropping and unplugging the whole engine?

    Great Video. Best I've found on youtube for showing a rebuild. Quick question though, what are you using in the syringe? Is it just some lubrication to allow better movement or is it some special stuff? Thanks.

      Hey thanks!
      Yeah it's just oil engine (motul 710 here)

    I see from your video that you appear to be building the engine up indoors…what type of inducement do you use to stop the wife kicking off and ultimately being in a bad mood for the rest of the week?

    Question. Did you use any gasket between block and the head. or is it just o-rings ?.

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  9 років тому

      Scott Mc it's just an o-ring between cylinder and the cylinder head

    • @scottmc2645
      @scottmc2645 9 років тому

      Can I do this rebuild with engine in frame ?

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  9 років тому +2

      Scott Mc The four cylinder nuts are very hard to remove because of the frame, you will need a shorten spanner.
      And that's just the beginning, after there are snap rings to remove and put back without loose it, etc ...
      In my opinion it's better to remove the engine from the frame. You'll work much more serene.

    What kind of piston do U use? I think the manufacture name.:)

      so many options of pistons on the market, especially @pjme. How do you know which one is best for your application? planning to go 34mm carb w/supporting mods...

    New rings on an older piston?

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  3 роки тому

      I think i kept the same rings

      Oh 👍
      Do you know what a good squish measurement is. Also a good compression limit on a piston?

    mi risulta che non abbia messo la guarnizione tra cilindro e testata.

    how much roughly will cost to rebuild top end of the engine? Aprilia RS 125

    • @toobzfpv8279
      @toobzfpv8279 8 років тому

      Depends where you're at (Currencies are obviously different) but PJME stock piston kits for around 120GBP (Piston, Rings, Gudgeon Pin, Little end roller bearing), a little more coin if you're after OEM stuff

    • @SuperDenkoo
      @SuperDenkoo 8 років тому

      +TOOBZ FPV 120£ ain't bad at all, I thought it's around 200+. Thanks bro

    I love ur videos and i watched all of them but, you rebuild all your engine and use the old piston?

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  9 років тому +2

      Thanks man, yeah the piston and the cylinder were still good

    • @mcngt1282
      @mcngt1282 4 роки тому

      If cylinder and piston is in good condition, its only waste of money to change them to new ones. 2 stroke piston can take many many hours more than you expect. If you know even little about 2 stroke engines you can have great and long driving times with them :D

      I dont think so. You forget about 1 gasket (oring)

    • @romainquiban5469
      @romainquiban5469  9 років тому +1

      The cylinder head o-ring is missing in this video yes. I put the sequence that I also use in the video of squish measuring, where the o-ring is not needed.
      No worry, the o-ring has been settled for the real reaasembly :)
