So many people seem disappointed in their lack of happiness and domestic bliss this season, and don't get me wrong, we all want that, but I'm also absolutely positively perishing in this sort of slowburn between them. Their love has already been established at the end of season 2, but this whole tension between them now is so pertinent for Emily's whole development this season in regards to Sue's baby, Sue's marriage, and ultimately Emily's own fear and insecurity about the power of her poetry. I just love it so much, and I know it will all pay off soon, especially now that Emily has had that epiphany of her essentially running away from just.. being present.

I agree with you. To add something as well, it’s also the fact that the slow burn brings realism to WLW relationships. People think it’s rainbows and sunshine because it doesn’t involve a man and completely disregard the fact that these are two individuals sorting out things for themselves. I just love how real their emotions, troubles, and concerns are. It shows how a WLW relationship is still a normal relationship with hardships worth overcoming.

This episode was a good one.. Finally some real confrontation. No tiptoeing around eachother, scared to hurt feelings or whatever. And yeah Sue isn't controlling or whatever. She is just a woman who is hopelessly in love with someone and she sees that that person she loves is slipping away. (Writing poems for someone else). Sue is just fighting for her love. Cut the woman some slack. Emily claims that she loves Sue but she isn't properly showing it. She's always galavanting to somewhere or with someone else. Believe me if you're in Sue's shoes, you would feel the jealousy, the hurt, the neglect and that turns into anger at some point. Give it time. They'll hash things out. It already started at the end of this episode when Vinny told her that she needs be glad that the person she loves is with her in the present etc

Well, one thing why I love Dickinson so much because sue is literally like my ex and I'm the Emily... Same as Emily, my family isn't the most lovable place but they are the people who knows me since I was a kid so I care about them too although that I love my ex so much... And yeah, my ex's love language is physical touch... While me, I tried my best to be someone who's gonna make our life to live in peace but smh only think that she cares about was us meeting each other... Maybe it's just that we both at the end can't stand our differences, we shows our life differently... Like for real, it was what happen... And yeah, that person is gonna get marry this year... As much as I hated this scene and wanted them to make up, I’m happy the writers are challenging the relationship a bit but I do wish they made this scene longer and aired everything out in this episode there’s so much left unsaid on both sides! They could have done without having the parents in this episode tbh.. I want to know when emily will understand that sue is sexually frustrated and needs more than a kiss or a poem. As much as it broke my heart to see Emily deny her a kiss it was necessary, so sue will get she needs a deeper talk.. I feel like she’s mad about em writing to a man bc she has some serious issues is men which is understandable and because I feel deep down she slept with sam so he would publish emily, cause he didn’t do it for so long then after their talk at the spa he published it I love the sisterly bond between vinnie and emily, I’m glad she accepted and love her sister unconditionally! You can clearly see the chemistry even when the fight. I love it when Sue raise her voice esp the "goddamn poems!" and Emily's pause when she realized and said "there it is then". When some of you are disappointed that they didn't kiss or whatsoever, I think you are missing the point what Alena and Emisue's phase is pointing out here.
Hopefully people will be reminded that in a relationship its not just all about happiness. The portrayal on this scene was perfect and I am not worried because I have been an avid emily dickinson fan and have a copy her poems. Such an excellent fight between two people who love each other but bad communication leads to all sorts of problems. And the acting! Both did amazing but Ms. Hunt really made me feel something. As much as they need to have a long and uninterrupted talk, I would not have been able to resist her demands at the end; Emily must be upset indeed.
Sue is tired of being away from Emily. She basically believes that the baby is hers and Emily’s… not Austin. The poems were all she had of Emily’s and she saw it like a commitment to her and now that Emily is showing her poems to someone else it feels like she’s not committed to Sue. Sue wants her to just live with her and be like a proper family which would mean that Emily could actually focus on her work and Sue finally getting Emily all to herself. Emily has trouble accepting the complexity of their love and is probably depressed because she assumes that Sue doesn’t love her now because of the baby.
every Sue and Emily scene is my favorite. they’re so good. i love the development of their relationship so much. Emily loves Sue but she just keeps running away. i can’t wait to see how they can deal with this.

Sue mentioned to Austin that they both knew they had an unconventional marriage. They both cheat, though Sue has always loved Emily, but could not really have the relationship she really wanted with her and to be trueful Austin knew before he married her. If you recall he and Emily fought over Sue and she left for a while. Even in real life Austin had a long term extramarital affair, but he and Sue had several children together still. It pretty much seemed that Emily always loved Sue because a lot of her poems were basically to Sue. Now back to the show, I agree Sue shouldn't have mentioned Austin and war, but I think she was frustrated with Emily and just really wondering if Emily still cares about her or just needs a sounding board for her poems. Emily feels like she isn't the center of Sues attention any longer, because of the baby, and is jealous of the baby, (men sometimes actually can be) which to me seems really selfish when you figure she told Sue basically that she would always love her and she should have really been there for Sue, as Sue has come home for her and even tried to get her poems noticed, which Emily has said were here children. I think Emily was looking for attention elsewhere by showing someone else her poems, so I can see why Sue would have been upset. I would have felt cheated on when you figure the majority of their relationship has been Emily's poems to Sue and Emily sent a poem to Sue that she sends to someone else, when Sue has basically been true to Emily in her heart and assumed Emily has too. But if you recall Emily did admit to Sue that she loved Ben almost as much as Sue. So Sue has a reason to worry. Sue has never had those feelings for anyone other than Emily and tried to move on for both their sakes, but it doesn't work for her, no matter who she sleeps with.
The symbolism of eden is amazing that is their tree,they had their first kiss we say there,later in the series they lay by that tree with flowers blooming in the garden,we see sue feed Emily a grape(the forbidden fruit) I don’t know if it is the same place but when they dance in the orchard they are happy eden is Described like heaven is paradise. When sue is with Austin she is annoyed and stressed when she is with Emily she is happy. When they are in bed together Emily says she wishes they can go to the end of the world (their tree/eden) and fall off sue agrees I don’t know if this symbolism/allegory was on purpose or I just interpret it this way but it’s great

Sue did say at the end of season 2 that she felt suffocated that she's the only one who were able to read Emily's poems and now she gets mad that Emily writes to somebody else besides Sue.

I just watched the finale and it was awful..it wasnt the ending we all anticipated..so i just re watch my favorite episodes and this is one of them.people are calling sue selfish but its not true,its very clear when she said she will only marry austin because she needed to..if only same sex relationship wasnt taboo that time then sue and emily can be together so being with austin was the only way to be closer to emily.And austin knows about their relationship and accepted it.
I get that Sue wants Emily but damn she's so aggro; she might as well have said 'If my husband aka your brother becomes a casualty of war, will you take your rightful place as my husband and the father of my child then?'
She’s not saying that at all. She’s frustrated and sad that Emily is always gallivanting around and avoiding her. It’s like Emily always has an excuse for why she can’t have a nice intimate moment with Sue. Emily is being so self-centred this season. Her girlfriend just wants love and appreciation.
I agree and disagree with some of their points of view… Besides, there has been a lack of scenes with Sue this season compared to past seasons, but it kinda fits because Sue is occupied being a mother and Emily has her own things… Emily should have reached to Sue sooner, I agree. Sue being jealous is not a positive thing 🤣 I felt that Emily was kinda flirting in the letters (?), she definitely liked it hehe. But I think we kinda enjoy the scenes with jealous Sue because for us it confirms she stills love her deeply (although it’s kinda toxic but due the lack of scenes between them, I would take any crumbs 🤣), although we may already know this because both have been vocal about it. Also, Sue wanting Austin to go to war because it will take that “problem” away, is not right. And saying it to Emily is cruel. Although we all might want Austin to go (I even thought about it when this season started), because it would be the easiest way for Emily and Sue for being together, but we know it’s not nice to think like that… Another thing is, that I didn’t like how Sue demanded to be kissed, and I agree this time with Emily about not kissing her. Not in this situation… *SPOILER ALERT:* … At the end of the episode, Emily had another realization about Sue, and I can’t believe she confessed to Lavinia!!! So I hope we can see reconciliation in the next episode and a lovely romantic scene🙏
Yes. That part about Austin. I was like, "Hold up. Calm down, Sue. Austin is still Emily's brother and you want him to go to war?? The heck???". That would have been very convenient for them but seriously, even though the relationship between he siblings are tense they still shared bond before all these things happened. And realizing that the only way you can be truly happy and be with the one you love is by putting your brother's life at risk is very distressing. I would become so guilty if someone tell me that. Don’t forget the era… The pressures of society. Bad communication caused by the secrecy, and the pressure to conform. Moments were all they had.

Sue wants her to just live with her and be like a proper family which would mean that Emily could actually focus on her work and Sue finally getting Emily all to herself. Emily has trouble accepting the complexity of their love and is probably depressed because she assumes that Sue doesn’t love her now because of the baby.

Sue mentioned to Austin that they both knew they had an unconventional marriage. They both cheat, though Sue has always loved Emily, but could not really have the relationship she really wanted with her and to be trueful Austin knew before he married her. If you recall he and Emily fought over Sue and she left for a while.
Even in real life Austin had a long term extramarital affair, but he and Sue had several children together still. It pretty much seemed that Emily always loved Sue because a lot of her poems were basically to Sue.
Now back to the show, I agree Sue shouldn't have mentioned Austin and war, but I think she was frustrated with Emily and just really wondering if Emily still cares about her or just needs a sounding board for her poems. Emily feels like she isn't the center of Sues attention any longer, because of the baby, and is jealous of the baby, (men sometimes actually can be) which to me seems really selfish when you figure she told Sue basically that she would always love her and she should have really been there for Sue, as Sue has come home for her and even tried to get her poems noticed, which Emily has said were here children. I think Emily was looking for attention elsewhere by showing someone else her poems, so I can see why Sue would have been upset. I would have felt cheated on when you figure the majority of their relationship has been Emily's poems to Sue and Emily sent a poem to Sue that she sends to someone else, when Sue has basically been true to Emily in her heart and assumed Emily has too. But if you recall Emily did admit to Sue that she loved Ben almost as much as Sue. So Sue has a reason to worry. Sue has never had those feelings for anyone other than Emily and tried to move on for both their sakes, but it doesn't work for her, no matter who she sleeps with.

The symbolism of eden is amazing that is their tree,they had their first kiss we say there,later in the series they lay by that tree with flowers blooming in the garden,we see sue feed Emily a grape(the forbidden fruit) I don’t know if it is the same place but when they dance in the orchard they are happy eden is Described like heaven is paradise. When sue is with Austin she is annoyed and stressed when she is with Emily she is happy. When they are in bed together Emily says she wishes they can go to the end of the world (their tree/eden) and fall off sue agrees I don’t know if this symbolism/allegory was on purpose or I just interpret it this way but it’s great

you guys are forgetting this was set in 1800s. As much as Emily loves Sue, its not that easy especially when Sue is still married to Austin and they just had a baby together. Emily has no commitment so she has the right to be able to write to somebody else other than Sue. Sue did say at the end of season 2 that she felt suffocated that she's the only one who were able to read Emily's poems and now she gets mad that Emily writes to somebody else besides Sue.

I just watched the finale and it was awful..it wasnt the ending we all anticipated..so i just re watch my favorite episodes and this is one of them.people are calling sue selfish but its not true,its very clear when she said she will only marry austin because she needed to..if only same sex relationship wasnt taboo that time then sue and emily can be together so being with austin was the only way to be closer to emily.And austin knows about their relationship and accepted it.
I wouldn’t be surprise if they are writing Sue character with postnatal depression.

Emily should have reached to Sue sooner, I agree. Sue being jealous is not a positive thing 🤣 I felt that Emily was kinda flirting in the letters (?), she definitely liked it hehe. But I think we kinda enjoy the scenes with jealous Sue because for us it confirms she stills love her deeply (although it’s kinda toxic but due the lack of scenes between them, I would take any crumbs 🤣), although we may already know this because both have been vocal about it.
Also, Sue wanting Austin to go to war because it will take that “problem” away, is not right. And saying it to Emily is cruel. Although we all might want Austin to go (I even thought about it when this season started), because it would be the easiest way for Emily and Sue for being together, but we know it’s not nice to think like that…
Another thing is, that I didn’t like how Sue demanded to be kissed, and I agree this time with Emily about not kissing her. Not in this situation…

Yes. That part about Austin. I was like, "Hold up. Calm down, Sue. Austin is still Emily's brother and you want him to go to war?? The heck???". That would have been very convenient for them but seriously, even though the relationship between he siblings are tense they still shared bond before all these things happened. And realizing that the only way you can be truly happy and be with the one you love is by putting your brother's life at risk is very distressing. I would become so guilty if someone tell me that. Geez.

I love both characters but Sue is being really insensitive and selfish this season when it comes to Emily's feelings. Specifically about her BROTHER. I Sue has her issues with Austin but he is Emily's brother and throwing out casually that he'll go to war and be out of the way... that's insensitive.
