That so called "well oiled machine" (Ineos) has been leaking for a couple of years with no signs of improvement. Not surprised he left at all especially after Lombardia mess. Happiness is more important than $$$. Hopefully Q36.5 will help him succeed with his goals.🙏
I don't really see how much team Ineos contributed to some of Pidcock's biggest wins. I mean, at Alp de Huez he pretty much made that happen himself. At Strade Bianchi I don't remember a huge amount of team support for his breakaway win. Despite deep pockets, Ineos has been a mess the last few years.
all the investment that goes into riders to get them to that point, smaller teams don't have those funds and resources, and riders need to be backed to be at a point so then they can compete for wins.
@@FloBikes yeah, I'm not discounting all of that. I'm just saying that Ineos hasn't really been that strong on the road when Pidcock has been going for wins. I agree that it's going to be a downgrade for him in a lot of ways and it could end up not working out well. But, I'm hoping the best for him. He's a fun rider to watch and when he's on form he can challenge the best riders.
I believe Tom Pidcock is a very underrated rider. All people keep saying is he is not a GC rider, but when you are signing for a big WT team and you have the pedigree Pidcock has with 7 rainbow jerseys across TT, ROAD, MTB, CX, National and European champion, 3 Olympic Gold medals, multiple World Silver medallist. Winning the Junior Giro along with a list of one day classics and criterium wins as a junior racing in senior races, I believe he had ambitions of leadership of INEOS but instead he found himself in a team totally dedicated to securing podiums for 'G'. The few times he has been let off the leash he has shone on stage 12 for the big win as the youngest winner of Alpe d'Huez in 2022, Amstel Gold, Strade Bianchi. Any rider who can deliver consistent wins across multiple disciplines on multiple terrains as he has deserves to have his shot. I believe writing Tom Pidcock off is a very foolish thing to do and I really hope Tom can prove a lot of people wrong! I won't be surprised but I do believe Tom Pidcock will surprise a lot of people in the next few years and really deliver big for his new team!
He clearly needed a different environment - it just wasn't working for him or INEOS. Both parties are almost surely to be better off without each other.
They have a handful of riders that could be decent domestiques the question is do they choose to have them leading squad at other races or dedicated to Tom.
Tom had partial at best support from INEOS if you look at when INEOS changed names to support Sir Jim's SUV. The Grenadiers is when the team started losing their way. Then Sir Jim bought into a football club and then Sir Dave Brailsford left to manage a Footie team. Prove me wrong anyone PLEASE 🦗🦗🦗🦗
Pidcock will continue to use Pinarello for 3 years for offroad races. So it is possible that they become a main bike sponsor after one year with Scott. We shall see, I think he'll do great on Scott bikes.
I think it's his personality.. dig deeper and you'll find he wasn't that popular and they didnt enjoy having him on the Ineos team. It'w not risky to leave a place where you aren't really wanted.
Will this be like when Sagan left BORA-Hansgrohe for Total Energie? Basically he was never heard from again. That said, the owner of Q36.5 is richer than God so can spend freely to support TP.
I don’t think the big Tours are were his motivation lies, he’d rather do Classics and CX/Mtn races. He may have an under powered team but should be able to utilize more powerful teams work and have leadership at all the races he wants.
Ineos is about winning the Grand Tours not about the riders. It was the same ethos when Cav was at Sky… Other teams have now caught up with Ineos with the marginal gains that they started when known as Sky. Good time to move on
It’s only risky for Q3.65…. Ineos will be delighted …. He didn’t get picked up by a big team - that tells me his poor performances weren’t down to Ineos entirely

It will be interesting to see what happens.
Huge risk, giant rewards if it pays off. Just like his descents. This move is unique, gutsy and creative. Exactly why I’m a fan of the cat.

Very good move for Tom and his new team! Perfect and a lot of success both will have.
He clearly needed a different environment - it just wasn't working for him or INEOS. Both parties are almost surely to be better off without each other.
Team Q36.5 is ranked #25 on the UCI ranking list. The team has 3 years to improve and have a chance to join the World Teams.
They have a handful of riders that could be decent domestiques the question is do they choose to have them leading squad at other races or dedicated to Tom.
I agree with your analysis. It presents opportunity and risk. I feel the latter is more probable
I don't think the Ineos cycling team will be around much longer anyway. The owner has other priorities now
The move proves how badly he wanted OUT. it’s a new world in sports career management. This is a big middle finger to a once dominant team.
At least he will have some decent kit to wear , by far the best cycling kit i have ever used
Go for it Tom !
Well he won amstel gold and olymics mtb gold this year alone. Thts not bad
yeah, not bad, still it's amazing he's only won 5 pro road wins. Hopefully something will click now and he'll really start to smash it.

Its his only move. Hes unemployable in the WT.
Maybe, and this is just a thought, ineos only let him move to a pro team?
New partnership with Pinarello?
I think Scott Bikes has a contract with team for 1 more year. Does the Billionaire buy out or cancel the contract???
Pidcock will continue to use Pinarello for 3 years for offroad races. So it is possible that they become a main bike sponsor after one year with Scott. We shall see, I think he'll do great on Scott bikes.
I thought he was going to Jayco, damn.
he'd be a good fit. I guess they can't afford him.

This is similar to if Phil Foden or Raheem Sterling decided to move to the AFC Wimbledon
We will see until will see- lets don’t jump into any conclusions
will he earn as much there?
Ineos aren't the force they used to be.
Will this be like when Sagan left BORA-Hansgrohe for Total Energie? Basically he was never heard from again. That said, the owner of Q36.5 is richer than God so can spend freely to support TP.
I think he came to the decision he’s not a GT gc rider & enjoys the different aspects of the sport 🤷♂️
His biggest problem will be that he won't necessarily get entries to the races he wants to go to.
It might not be risky it may be his only option. Because obviously no one else was interested.
Very surprised he didn’t sign with Bora or Astana (new sponsor) for a significantly lower salary
I don’t think the big Tours are were his motivation lies, he’d rather do Classics and CX/Mtn races. He may have an under powered team but should be able to utilize more powerful teams work and have leadership at all the races he wants.
“Leaving”… 😂
He has been kicked out…wasn’t his decision…
No, I don't think so from what I'm hearing.
Ineos is about winning the Grand Tours not about the riders. It was the same ethos when Cav was at Sky… Other teams have now caught up with Ineos with the marginal gains that they started when known as Sky. Good time to move on
Dude walked away from couple milions. He wanted out badly.
I'm sure he got a nice payoff.
dont see any risk for pidcock Ineos look like a cycling team on way down not up
Everyone is leaving lneos!!!
Piddy will struggle for big wins and in the process waste precious years. Forget about winning a GT
However, what he will have is control of where & when he races. Maybe winning a GT isn't a priority just like it isn't with MVDP.
@ Piddy as an all arounder has a chance to win a GT but not MVDP because he can’t climb with the best.
With Tadej and Jonas around he can forget about winning a GT anyway. Stage wins yes, but GT nope.
@ absolutely correct
It’s only risky for Q3.65….
Ineos will be delighted ….
He didn’t get picked up by a big team - that tells me his poor performances weren’t down to Ineos entirely
He didn't. But maybe being in a big team is the problem.
@@Tynmar2966 He is not a team player , so no big team wants him.
@@micheldawidjanstrydom That's exactly Pidcock's problem.
Ineos are due to fail
