Your reviews are thorough, useful and informative. It's obvious that you know the tools well & you structure the videos in such a way that they aren't boring or irrelevant. Thank you.
I use this saw with a 12 inch pruning blade with carbide tips to cut down trees up to 9" diameter. Use it just like a chain saw though it is of course slower. With the lighter battery packs it is easy to carry up into trees to cut off branches. I tie a rope to my ladder so I can drop down the saw for safety before climbing down. I always use the safety switch which is a great feature.
I bring my ryobi reciprocating saw to work. My boss borrows it a lot. He is hard to impress, but the ryobi saw impressed him. We use it to cut tree roots and metal stuff.
I have had the old kit version of the Ryobi reciprocating saw and it is an excellent tool. I'm glad to see Ryobi is still upgrading their tools without changing platforms.
I just bought this saw. The build quality is very good. It's more heavy duty than the first Ryobi Reciprocating saw I bought in 2003 (Dark Green) and I loved that saw. . Very good review and instead of reading the manual I just popped on youtube and got my knowledge here. Thanks.
I have the corded version and it works great, but your right about how the extension cord can be a pain. I want to get a combo kit with circular saw and recip. I think it would be Awesome to have camping. Cut firewood and kindling. Note on 1 of the other comments, if you have a limb near power lines call Utility company they will cut it back at no cost to you. Thanks again, Rodney
8:32 Very impressive !!! I ordered one of these puppies tonight and can't wait until it gets to me so I can put it to work. I have a virtual stack of widow maker tree branches as well as still attached rotten branches that I broke loose out of an old Oak tree using a large washer and 50 pound test fishing line that need to be cut up for campfire wood. Disclaimer: While the use of a large washer and 50 pound test line for removing dead limbs is a neat Jerry Rig, it can also be a dangerous endeavor. First and foremost, don't EVER !!! stand directly under a limb that you're trying to bring down. Secondly ... Never EVER !!! use the technique if their are power lines around the area where you're working. If there are any suspended lines around where you're working and you're not sure whether they are power lines are not ?? Forget it. It's not worth the risk because things might end in a very bad way.
Real good video Daniel. I have the 514 model and it works well. for heavy demo and cutting I use a corded dewalt recip saw but like the Ryobi for it's portability around the property and using it under a car for exhaust work is nice with no cord in the way.
Nice review and finally a reciprocating saw from Ryobi that ain't a lime green weakling. The fantastic 4Ah batteries can rejuvenate most old blue Ryobi(s)into decent performers.
Its nice to see they addressed the 2 most annoying things in the previous model, the spring loaded blade lock in mine is annoying and holding the trigger safety sucks.
I own this saw, but still only have the basic black compact lithium batteries that were shown as compatible at the end of the video. This is the one tool I own that those batteries just can’t get the job done - they actually overheat within 5 minutes, and won’t run the tool or anything else until cooled down. They won’t even charge/test properly on the charger after this tool’s run them. I’ll look into the larger batteries ASAP.
I almost bought the combo with drill kit that seems best value and has the older P514 model! Glad I seen this. I'll be going for the tool only P516, I have plenty of drills and batteries so makes more sense to spend less on the better tool only purchase. Plus its a good price now the brushless model is out.
hey...another good video.....2 thumbs up to Ryobi....they have come a long way since their blue 18v cordless tools and especially making the lithium batteries...which gave new life to the several old blue models that i was close to throwing away....and i scored last christmas by getting those 4.0 batteries for $25 a piece
+Daniel Gomez it already has a 3yr warranty from Ryobi.....personally I'd return the extended warranty.....I think it may run from the date of purchase, not when the other one expires......if not, it may be worth keeping to bump you up to 5yrs.
this looks like the ridgid sawzall. Ryobi delivers a lot for the money and really makes me question why did i go with Ridgid. Ryobi gives more for less money and they are constantly adding tools to their lineup. good brand.
This is great! I can finally begin to simplify my tool truck. I have been using a mix of Ryobi and Ridgid because I love Ryobi's attitude and their drills, drivers, and nailers are great, but the saws have not been up to professional use.
Doresoom Reviews yep, I just bought the new recip and I think it works better than my old ridgid so far. I only have the old 5.5" ryobi circular saw. I haven't tried their newer 6.5". I am using a 6.5" ridgid from the nicad days.
I agree with you and the other guy in this comment section about ryobi circular saws, they need to make them more powerful and 7 quarter inch saws like the rest of the other saws. Kobalt needs to make a 7inch saw too. Craftsman I wish.
09:20 Sure, the Ryobi can get that job done, but I imagine the blade is quite tired by comparison, lol. Great video, very informative and helped me understand I should set my sights on the P516 instead of saving a few bucks for an old P514. I enjoyed watching this, please keep up the good material! :-)
Haven't tried the diablo sawzall blades but the Milwaukee torch series is really good! I got the pack with metal and wood blades, at home depot best price I have seen so far. I have used the diablo circular saw blade and I was impressed with that.
The sawing goes faster if you help it saw. Just got mine the week before last and love it. Destroys my Porter Cable tigersaw in build quality, sturdiness and battery life. Best purchase in a good minute
I bought the 18 gauge brad nailer and while I haven't put it through a torture test, it worked great for the small projects that I have used in on so far. I also have the drill and impact driver which have worked fine. I think I am going to add this reciprocating saw to my line up. In the video, he just cut more wood then I will probably ever cut. He put the tool through some decent tests. Far more stress then I will likely every put one through. Good video.
...from someone who owns and uses a LOT of cordless tools every day...let me say I think my Ryobi tools are a great value for the money..generally durable, and the lithium ion batteries are good...BUT....the sawzall/reciprocating saw is the exception...I have owned 3 of the older blue ones, and am on my second green one(like this one)...the BIG problem with them is they literally shake the batteries so bad, it has cracked the post on all them, and the 2 side clips are NOT adequate to hold the batteries on a tool like this...it shakes and vibrates too much.. they get loose and wears the little side clips on the batteries, too...a sawzall needs a battery that slides on and snaps securely in place. I am ready to move on to another brand for my sawzall, not sure which brand yet, but I will be taking a close look at how the batteries are attached as a major criteria...along with toughness. I will be keeping my other Ryobi tools, but I am tired of the sawzall ruining all my batteries..:(... That said, I do use them a LOT, so this sawzall may be o.k. for someone who lets it sit on the shelf more than they use it.....
Combine this with a second 4ah batter an a Ryobi car charger... and you can make a trip to the woods to get a load of perfectly sized logs that don't need splitting! Or just clear out the undergrowth on your property like I want to do. lol No Power cord out there and I don't want/need a chainsaw.
Burned up two of them so far one blue than the other one with the shock protection now I have a 5/16 I will be using it exclusively to do stuff around the yard and cutting crepe myrtles or some call it crepe murder
+Lance Sheppard {Little River Lawn Care} Both....we buy a LOT of them, since we don't like focusing only on the same tools as everyone else. Check out our disclosure here ---> www.realtoolreviews.com/disclosure
I bought mine and wasn't immediately pleased with it. I have had it now, 3 or 4 years. If it dies. I will buy another. I have used for demo- tree and bush trimming- metal cutting and on and on

I agree... think about it: One+ = 70+ tool platform - 4.0Ah Lithium batteries with fuel gauge! - 1800 ft.lb LED impact drivers - SDS hammer drills - Hybrid tools - outdoor power equipment - caulking guns - lighting - Drain Augers - Sanders- Buffers, etc etc.. and finally Belt Clips! Great stuff indeed. Im hoping for the comeback of the One+ shop-vac. Check eBay for the prices of old blue ones... People are paying a mint for those old used cordless shop vacs...
okay now do it with the batteries that usually comes with Ryobi's tool sets I guess they're the 1.2 amp hour batterys. lol I was was told that the rigid tool sets come with unlimited warranty if you kill a battery they replace it or their saws any part of their equipment is replaced at any time as long as you own it. When trimmings tree branches always make an undercut first preventing the bark striping off.

Good job an this review, man. This is the way a tool review should be done.
Man the t-shirt 👕 roybi color is just the finishing touch over your top-level reviews! Happy 2019!

Neon green overload! ... I still use the old blue saw I got in a kit years ago.

Great video, very informative and helped me understand I should set my sights on the P516 instead of saving a few bucks for an old P514. I enjoyed watching this, please keep up the good material! :-)
Ryobi makes some really nice stuff now. My daughter says your videos are the best because you can count so fast! lol!
Hahahaha :) Nice!
How do you find the Diablo bi-metal blades compared to the Milwaukee ones ( non carbide ones for both) ?
lightningsmokerXx you should check your local Home Depot. they carry tons of Diablo blades and discs in various sizes.
Haven't tried the diablo sawzall blades but the Milwaukee torch series is really good! I got the pack with metal and wood blades, at home depot best price I have seen so far. I have used the diablo circular saw blade and I was impressed with that.
Looks great the saw Daniel, thanks for the video
The sawing goes faster if you help it saw. Just got mine the week before last and love it. Destroys my Porter Cable tigersaw in build quality, sturdiness and battery life. Best purchase in a good minute
was at HD yesterday. They have a 2 pack of 4 amp batteries for 79. I gave my old saw to my daughter and need to go get one of these.
I'm headed out to HD to pick one up the morning. Did the T-shirt come with it? lolz
just burnt out one of the older ones, time to get this one
great video thanks I just got one and have not used it yet...
Great review. I wonder why they haven't made a cordless portaband saw yet..
I love Ryobi tools.
For an underdog brand it's really great and best of all its also affordable.
Great review love your vids one of the top tool review guys on UA-cam
9:04 what type of blade were you using there? Just wondering, lol.
You are really good at this (like Jeff Hickson said).
Nice. Should be Hybrid. I wonder if it can cope with slightly blunt blades, is it tourquey.
Woooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!!this going to be my new brand ........good bye Milwaukee and Dewalt
Fernando Gausin I have swapped out all my tools for the Ryobi one+ the air strike nailer is amazing. I love this saw so so nice and light weight
I bought the 18 gauge brad nailer and while I haven't put it through a torture test, it worked great for the small projects that I have used in on so far. really well done and thorough video. thanks!
Ryobi makes a decent 1/2 impaxt wrench i use one on a daly basis
Really good and useful review. Thanks.
The Ryobi model numbers in Europe seem to be completely different
...from someone who owns and uses a LOT of cordless tools every day...let me say I think my Ryobi tools are a great value for the money..generally durable, and the lithium ion batteries are good...BUT....the sawzall/reciprocating saw is the exception...I have owned 3 of the older blue ones, and am on my second green one(like this one)...the BIG problem with them is they literally shake the batteries so bad, it has cracked the post on all them, and the 2 side clips are NOT adequate to hold the batteries on a tool like this...it shakes and vibrates too much.. they get loose and wears the little side clips on the batteries, too...a sawzall needs a battery that slides on and snaps securely in place. The guy's shirt is pretty awesome.
Have you used Ryobi 6 Amp 3-1/4 in. Corded Hand Planer ? If so can you please do a review/demo video?
tengo el modelo anterior . conviene cambiarlo por el nuevo ? Saludos me gustan tus videos
Side topic: Could you test the DeWalt power station on a table saw to see if it can take it? That would be maxing out it's specs @15A
Nice review,as always. That will be my next purchase.👍🏼
is it normal for the blade to shake/sway sideways when not in contact with a material?l
love your videos keep them coming
Combine this with a second 4ah batter an a Ryobi car charger... and you can make a trip to the woods to get a load of perfectly sized logs that don't need splitting! Or just clear out the undergrowth on your property like I want to do. lol

when are you going to do more reviews
Burned up two of them so far one blue than the other one with the shock protection now I have a 5/16 I will be using it exclusively to do stuff around the yard and cutting crepe myrtles or some call it crepe murder
do you have to purchase all of these tools? or do the various companies supply them for the reviews?
+Lance Sheppard {Little River Lawn Care} Both....we buy a LOT of them, since we don't like focusing only on the same tools as everyone else. Check out our disclosure here ---> www.realtoolreviews.com/disclosure
Real Tool Reviews thanks for the reply and thanks for the videos, I have made some decisions with my tools bc of your videos.
Great review!
great review as always
nice explanation.
Brushless motor???
how long it takes to the batterie be completely dead ?
excellent video
The saw disappeared when it was by your shirt...how did you do that? :)
Good review man.
Haha.....I knew it was green.....I just didnt realize it was THAT close in color until I was editing the video :)
I love the videos. It sounds like you say sawL. With an L. But, thanks again for the great content
Gotta love accents
Great review
you must make a TON of sawdust do you do anything in particular with it? just curious
+TheSimplecanadian I burn it all in the burn pile....BIG fires!
I bought mine and wasn't immediately pleased with it. I have had it now, 3 or 4 years. If it dies. I will buy another. I have used for demo- tree and bush trimming- metal cutting and on and on
Good Review.
Hello! Could you make Makita 18v brushless reciprocating saw review? Pleeeeease))
Amazing review. You just eared my sub.
is it any good as a marital aid? a 1 inch stroke doesnt seem like much but 20000 strokes a minute seems beastly
He said 2900 strokes in a minute, not 20 000. :D
Stilletto hammer, nice!
A+ video!!
Great review, but maybe not the best shirt for Ryobi reviews, lol.
Whats your professional opinion on Ryobi One+ ? Im almost all in exclusive Ryobi cordless now. Not because of price actually. i bought a Ryobi cordless kit as a spare to keep with my crew on separate job sites - and because of the 70+ tools just happened to keep trying new ones. I extremely happy. I had the complete first generation of Hitachi Lithium cordless (pro line - hammer drills, impacts, saws, etc.. as well as Dewalt (nicad) both circa - 2004 - I had still been using them as they never gave up. I was sold on Hitachi, as they were cutting edge back then, but since then they have degraded in quality IMHO. However for me - the new Ryobi line is an upgrade in power / performance vs my 1st gen tools at a lower price point = win-win. Im a full time pro remodeling contractor by the way. Most of the time i dont need a cordless 1000ft/lb hammer drill and when i do I bring out my Bosch SDS or job equivalent pro tool. But for 99% of my work - the new Ryobi is more than adequate. If i was a union steelworker doing industrial high rise erection, or commercial electrician cutting/drilling/welding for a living I could see the need for the Milwaukee/Dewalt/Metabo etc.. But..those are the Pros-pros so to speak. In my opinion- Ryobi is contractor grade all the way - just not industrial/institutional grade. Ryobi gets the job done - period. And for most of those I know - ego - more than skill set - is why people buy the big brands.
You hit the nail on the head.....many people are brand obsessed & that does limit their options. Good to hear that you like the ONE+ lineup & that it is working out well. Funny thing.....they keep coming out with new tools that no one else has --- so I am not sure why so many consider them a homeowner brand only --- clearly they are innovating much faster than most of the competition.
It's name recognition. Everyone says "hey that's a good brand" I'm getting that good brand. Not Husky or whatever right next to it even though it's good enough and is 70% cheaper.
Btw I buy the more expensive name brand stuff because that's just the way it is. I won't buy dewolter anymore because people say there stuff sucks and now I buy milkwalky because 1, it's supposed to be better somehow, 2, it's more expensive. That's just how it is.
I agree... think about it: One+ = 70+ tool platform - 4.0Ah Lithium batteries with fuel gauge! - 1800 ft.lb LED impact drivers - SDS hammer drills - Hybrid tools - outdoor power equipment - caulking guns - lighting - Drain Augers - Sanders- Buffers, etc etc.. and finally Belt Clips! It was 124 there was a wood block under your worktable lol 😂
is this p516 or p514 ...saw on amazon this is p515
Clearing them out at HD right now for $49 if you can find them in store.
What a waste of tree carcass, did the battery overtemp. or run out of charge. Had it happen to me.
okay now do it with the batteries that usually comes with Ryobi's tool sets I guess they're the 1.2 amp hour batterys. lol I was was told that the rigid tool sets come with unlimited warranty if you kill a battery they replace it or their saws any part of their equipment is replaced at any time as long as you own it. Any truth to this? does anybody know?
ryobi is really uping there game as well
The P517 is similar, key differences of that one are an LED light, 132 cuts vs 123, orbital cutting option and brushless motor, so it would outlast this one but at a $50 CDN price bump. So glad he reviewed both and in the same way as well. Check out that video here: ua-cam.com/video/2E8ziNglWn4/v-deo.html ;)
Not so sure brushless will outlast in the end. Brushless is a complex system than requires drivers and precise sensors and mosfets on a PCB that has many electronic parts to control the motor. The P516 is a much simpler DC motor and variable switch with protection. Id save the $50 and put it towards another battery.Right now at Home Depot you can get 2 4ah batteries for $88 CDN for cyber Monday sale which would be so much better for run time having those extra batteries versus spending on the brushless.
Haha I'm laughing rn because I have a black and decker cord less Reciprocating saw and it put out 3000 stroke per minute
i cut down an entire tree with this thing
Wow lots of examples, talking and showing each part of the tool, short explanations.
those poor 2x4's I could of used those
Still doesnt touch the Milwaukee
+M.Night207 when the Milwaukee is $79....be sure and tell me...
I bought two milwaukee half inch high torque impats brand new tool only for $100 each. i think thats a pretty good deal
I buy from guys who buy crates of milwaukee tools
Got a milwaukee sawzall cordless for 120
You are one cool dude.
this guy saws
English wonk gives a C- for writing everything in the future tense.
Ask me if I care...
I like what you say and you do but your voice kills me!
Mitch Yelvington, I don’t have an issue with his voice but I do find it funny how so many Americans say “sawl” lol. 😁🇨🇦
This tool is garbage, I'm about to return my second Ryobi sawzall. Two in a row are smoking within 5 weeks of use, trimming outside. Can't believe it.
Are you using pruning blades? If not, the teeth on a standard wood blade are too small & wont eject the sawdust.
LEAVE THE FUCKING TREES ALONE !
You do understand how trimming tree limbs works don’t you?
I like it. but i'm not going to have yet another brand of batteries just for 1 tool. They should have milwmilky to ryeby adaptor. idk if they make them but they should!
GigaDonk buy cheapo $99 drill combo and get this p516 free! at the depot.
GigaDonk they do offer battery adapters! Lucky dog you.
