I'm addicted to your channel
I’m addicted to your comments
Lol thanks
Good thing to be addicted to
A classic NASG sub-80 round. Made 3 long putts, stuck one approach to tap in range, scrambled well and minimized big trouble. Those elements are why I’m still shooting mid 80s even when driver and irons are going well. Desert courses are so beautiful when there is snow on the mountains. Can’t tell how intentional it is but you capture the landscape really well.
Thanks! When are we linking up and playing together with the boys again?
@@NotAScratchGolfer whenever you're back in the Bay Area Adam and especially would love to join you and Matt parfection for a round.
2:20 I’m no golf pro, but I can hit a high and soft bunker shot. If you can hit a high flop, you can hit a bunker shot. I’d practice flops in the rough, open face almost flat and a slightly open stance. Feel like the club goes under the ball, and it’ll pop up nice and high and land real soft. It’s the same thing for a bunker shot, feel like you’re hitting under it. Kind of feel like cast the club. Hope this helps!
Just move the ball forward.
Thx!
Adam, I don't know if you see it like we see it, but man... have you ever become deadly with your distance control. Even for a guy with a strong pitch 'n putt range game... the amount of hole-high approaches for you compared to earlier videos on your channel is striking. As always, very enjoyable to watch the journey, and I continue to look forward to the day that you can no longer call yourself "not a scratch golfer", because I think its coming sooner rather than later.
Making comeback putts of 6’ or longer saved three strokes on the front. Well done!
Thanks Steve
The putter was putting *lol* in the work yet again! Great touch around the greens.
Thanks Drew!
I wish UA-cam and your channel was a thing decades ago when I was in high school. Hearing about your approach to the game and seeing the results would have my time on the golf team much more enjoyable. At least they are helping me now as I'm getting back into the game. Your vids are awesome and inspiring. Thanks!
You have a great understanding of the game of golf and it’s a pleasure to watch you explain your approach to the game 👌🏻
Thank you!
Your putting from 4 to 8 feet is incredibly good for your handicap… and your stock chip is so reliable
can confirm its all about short game. I have been told I am a "great ball striker" but I struggle to break 85........chipping and putting are abysmal
Easiest part of the game to improve! Doesn’t require strength or tremendous athleticism!
@@NotAScratchGolfer yup I just need to get to the practice part LOL
I absolutely love some of your titles 🤣🥰🥰
Thx!
One of the best golf channels and YT and deserves more subs.. Love your content Adam.
Good job Adam! Those putts and bump and runs are amazing! I was also screaming at my screen telling you to bench the driver. lol Luckily you did!
Haha thx
@@NotAScratchGolfer if ever you are in Manitoba for any weird reason pleas let me know lol me and my buddies wanna play with you! 😀
Been watching your playing lessons for a month now Adam. I'm convinced I've become a better golfer while on the couch. Will see how that manifests or not during my upcoming St. George golf adventure. Cheers
Thanks Mark. Have a great time in St George. I’ve heard nothing but awesome things.
After some recent struggles off the tee but a tidy short game, you continue to inspire.
Thanks AJ!
Loving this video! You are such a clutch putter.
Thanks Brett!
Adam your putting seems OK to me you had 30 putts which is 2 away from tour average it's respectable. I myself average around 30.. keep going Adam your doing OK. Love the channel
Thanks Marc!
Great decision to ditch driver and tee off with the 5 wood.
Thanks! Usually if my driver is off, my fairway wood is, too. This was a rare day when the fairway wood was cooperating despite the driver going off the rails.
Broke 90 ( shot 85 with an eagle putt from the fairway! ) last week following your advice. Always looking forward to your stuff!
Classic club is so good. Nice video 👍
Thanks bud
You have a good point. Sometimes you can play pretty ugly, yet score not too bad.
And sometimes the opposite. Funny game.
I relate to your game so much. Recently Iv been slapping it around and getting away with 78-79 by getting up and down making no doubles.
One of us!
Great videos bro! Any updates on the Bandon Dunes video? 😄
Awesome round!!! The driver wasn’t cooperating but you manage the course masterfully. Well done!! I have to apply all of this to my game see if i break 90 on Sunday
Let us know how it goes!
@@NotAScratchGolfer for sure I will let you know
Played Sunday but couldn’t break 90, couldn’t even break 100, the search continues. I know i will get there, but most important, I enjoy each and every round regardless of the score. Thanks Adam, for showing us the way to enjoy golf!!
Such a sick bogey @2:33 man! Bogey is always good! Lovin' your channel, shared it to my friends , we all speak French but it's easy to understand and i am sure they will love it!
Super advice at 6:35 too, taking a few extra seconds is sometimes key!
Really highlights the importance of avoiding penalty shots, and scrambling & putting well! If I can do those 3 things with a good mental game, breaking 80 will come along much more often :)
Constantly amazed at the greenside play...looking 25 yards away at that shot I' would probably take 4 strokes half the time and be happy with three and never dream of two.
Thanks, David! Gotta do something well!
I find your videos very helpful. I try to mimic your mindset and thought process for course management. I recently just broke 90 (86), for the first time. Believe it or not, you helped!!
I think it helps that you’re playing 6200 yards. And that’s not to criticize at all. That’s an appropriate yardage for your skill and how far you hit it. I see way too many amateur golfers playing all the back on 7400 yard courses and can’t break 90 and they’re typical tee shot is barely 250 yards.
Agreed, cheers Nick!
Such a helpful and entertaining video.
I can attest to the validity of Adam's approach as my game and scoring is similar. I don't hit bombs and I hit plenty of bad shots. But I maintain a level head and have reasonable expectations, some measure of consistency (to at least avoid big numbers) , and an "above average" short game (chipping AND putting). If you have those things, you CAN break 80. But, if you have those things, you do not "suck" at golf...your well above average!
For those crazy high shots as recoveries I have really enjoyed reading Daniel Grieve's "3 Releases: The Short Game System"
Hi Adam,
Great video as always man! I saw slope and course rating at end of video but didn’t see total yardage listed. In the future is it possible to add that to the section where you list score/slope/rating? Also curious what it was for this course.
I’m a 16 handicap and earlier this year I was shooting in low 80s from around 6200-6300 yards or so. Last two rounds I had guys that wanted to play further back, 6700+ on one course and 7000+ on another. Both of those rounds I shot high 90s and shot over my differential. Whereas earlier this year I shot 13-14 differentials on those low 80 rounds.
The reason I bring this up is related to the yardage. I really struggled playing long par 3s and par 4s as 180-220 yard shot into the green is definitely more difficult than 100-130 lol. Do you have the same issue or is your short game truly that good to compensate for it? I know you talk a lot about par 3 courses/ pitch and putt, which have helped your game. My son and I started going to do more Par 3 courses after I saw how good you were doing because of it and I will definitely say it helped both of us quite a bit! So truly thanks for that advice man!
If you ever make it down to Dallas Texas area we would love to play a round of golf with ya! Our home course is pretty fun, 6 each of par 3/4/5 😊
Shane
Really liking your channel and content, you're perspectives on the game have really helped mine. How are you getting the shot tracer for your shots? Thx!
Another great video! These are what I need before the golf trip starts on Monday
Nice, where are ya headed?
Brainard Minnesota to a resort called Madden's
@@mikeboyd3561 Hadn't heard of it before. Let us know how it goes!
Good time! Bad golf! Lol
Love your channel man! Presidio is my home course and I always watch your videos from there before my round to get excite and see what a 79 looks like 😂
Love Presidio. Must be awesome to have it as a home course.
This guy can definitely play…
50% of the time my game works every time
Adam, long time listener, first time caller. I’m a similar handicap and always feel like I keep my group from playing as fast as they’d like. I noticed that you’re likely a slower golfer too…especially around the greens. Would love to hear how you manage that dynamic on the course with others who are hoping to finish in the mid to low 3 hour range.
I played with Adam last year and never felt like he was slowing us down, except when a gust of wind blew his camera setup 20 yards off one elevated green 😮😢 He’s just very active and efficient, doing all his green reading while others are chipping and putting. The hundreds of pitch n putt rounds he’s played probably help a lot with that.
Thanks for chiming in, both of you! Tee to green I’m pretty fast over the ball and don’t find that my camerawork really slows things down. I do find that I take a bit more time over putts relative to a lot of golfers, but nothing inordinate.
Love this gents! Appreciate the perspective!!
Wish we had these wide fairways in Missouri. If you miss to either side you are typically in the woods and lost. I struggle to keep every drive in play and that racks up my score.
Yeah same. The drives in this vid would easily add 10 strokes on any courses around here.
so basically, be a good putter. off to the practice green I go.
Bingo
LETS GO!!!!! Man you're videos are so fun to watch. I played a 9 with my buddy today and shot 3 over par (best I've ever shot) keep it up my man. never stop making content
Thanks Shaun, and congrats!
Good golf!!
When your self-awareness and checking your ego are over 9000
😂
The duck. It makes me laugh every time
I know how to get you to break 74....from watching your videos a lot, what I see is if you were to shorten your back swing or if you controlled it to be a bit slower where it didn't look so wild, your drives would be....*chefs kiss*
Hey Adam, love the videos and your story! ^_^
Maybe you should sell that dumb driver and start using 3w off every tee! Look at your 2nd shots after the 5w compared to driver, WAY better position! Good luck this season :)
Getting to the damn green is my biggest problem. I'm all over the place and find the woods way, way too often. I do a decent up and down, and averaged under regulation for putts last year, but the damn long distances I can't seem to be able to aim at. Using irons or my 5 wood seem to help a bit, when distance allows.
Crazy … you make 5-7 putts >7ft every round. 👏
Thank god, or I’d be a 15hc overnight 😅
And that’s most of the difference, really. You’re getting a lot of long putts to go in at a much higher rate than most amateurs trying to break 80.
@@gregmartin4678 Every time i watch Adam's video, I count how many putts he made that I would've missed. On average it's around 6!
Hey Adam, just curious what shot tracer you use? Do you just use an app on your phone and a tripod?
Hey Brotha, few questions, Do you use Cell phone, Go pro recording? What did you use for the score card at the top and editing software?
love the videos!
what program are you using for the shot tracers?
Thanks! I use Shot Tracer Pro
AS always short game saving the day. Off the tee kinda meh, but chipping and putting 2 thumbs up.
the putting stat at the end says it all... 30putts over a full round. Tidy greenside play is what helps lower scores. Keep the ball in play tee to green (with the occasional bad shot) but make up with proper finishing. Often the difference between an really good round and a mediocre or even bad one.
What we learn from your channel is “drive for show, putt for dough”
This is the attitude that new golfers need to have. Short term memory when it comes to bad shots.
Great video, but I think you and I have different definitions of "suck at golf" lol
I really enjoy your videos. I'm at a similar point in my golf journey as you.
Thanks!
How much time do you spend practicing putting vs other parts of your game?
I don’t really practice, save for some putting I do at home.
Can you do some video on chipping?
Watching your swing hurts me..gahh 😂
I hear you
The laugh after you hit your first drive is the key to playing good golf. Laugh at your bad shots and move on
What’s the yardage from the whites?
Think it was 6300
When a 190 drive is a bad drive :O I would be happy if I had any!
When it comes to sucking at golf and breaking 80, I'm at least confident I've got the first step down solid.
Most of my drives with driver end up like your first drive 😂😂 I've given up and hit hybrids off the tee most of the time now.
Whatever works. Gotta keep it in play!
@Not A Scratch Golfer yep, I'm still struggling to break 100 when I play 18, but I'm getting really close to being able to put together a decent score. I can feel a good round coming.
I really liked the live Carry yardage tracker, it would be cool if that was permanent on all shots, unless it's a giant pain in the ass to put into the video... then ignore me lol
Easy: Play 9
Lol😂
Being tidy round the greens beats 300 off the tee.
Agreed, although both would be nice lol
1.66 putts per hole. PGA Pros make 70% of 6 footers. You seem to make them all. Nice.
My driver wasn’t working at classic club either. The place is clearly cursed. Seemed like your driver was working well in past videos. Wacky consistency issues or just jumping around timeline for videos lately?
What’s your definition of a bad shot? I didn’t count 7 bad shots on the back 9. Unless you consider a thin shot that ends up right next to the green a bad shot. Or sand shot that ends up 30 ft away.
I’ll go through and cite them. Not exactly a scientific process, but typically a drive that doesn’t leave me in a position to reach the green, a bladed chip, a putt that doesn’t leave me with a makeable second putt, etc.
My name is Adam, and I have that same shirt.
On hole 15, your second shot is way off the green, how did you have a birdie putt??!
If you 3/4 your backswing like your irons you’d be on freaking tour
My game collapses if driver doesn’t work. Important to shut the club for the round
My game is basically the exact opposite of yours. Long with driver and irons and a bad short game.
So we’d make for a killer scramble team ;)
Yeah the game is all about putting. The pros can average 28 putts a round…I’m lucky to average 34 When I was younger and playing off 4 if I was averaging 28 putts I’d be shooting average of 70’s bad putting really sucks
Golf is hard.
How can I get featured on a video?!?! I'm a 13 handicap. Help me pleaseeeee
Whereabouts are you, Andrew?
Unlike you i usually follow a bad drive with a poor second shot.
