They were the original alpha class. Big block engines, four-speed transmissions and a penchant for doing whatever they wanted. These beasts, although no longer at the top of Stock Eliminator is still very much ornery, and quite the animal to tame. Go behind the scenes at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis on Thursday as these high horsepower beasts battle for A/Stock supremacy.
The best cars and the stands are empty.
Man real classics like these are why I'd go to Indy.
I remember days when there were 40K-50K people in and around the grandstands!! Those were incredible days!! We knew it then, and it shows now!!
Just bought some transmission parts from an ol'-timer yesterday, and he was talking about racing at Indy and there being 100K+ people there!! He showed us pictures of him and his '68 Camaro there and all the people in the stands. Holy crap, that must have been incredible!!
Unfortunately, lots of the original guys are dying off, and many of us younger "ol-timers" are getting fewer and further between!
Nothing but the best 4 speed rowing badass cars at a national event, wish i was there racing (Stick Shifts for Life!)

They have to separate this class, it’s ridiculous to allow these modern cars to beat on the older stuff. Nobody wants to see these Cookie cutter modern cars dominate. Just my take and I’ll admit I’m an older guy who grew up in Ohio watching sportsman racing.

Good video on the people involved in drag racing. Do you have videos that show just the cars, their specs, times, driver skills, etc?
Unfortunately no. When we are at the races we are so challenged to get as much content in a limited amount of time that we have to essentially tell as much of the story as we can and move on to the next assignment. If we had a full blown tv crew these are the projects we’d love to focus on.

AA/Stock would be THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN. Not A/Stock. Although A/stock is just a notch away from The Top Of The Food Chain.
AA/Stock is the class for the highest factory rated horsepower cars. Some Mopar Hemis, 440’s and Max Wedges, big block 427 Fords, 427 and 396 Chevrolets, as well as some newer cars - LS-1 Firebirds, supercharged Cobra Jet Mustangs and the new DragPack Hemi Dodge Challengers are in this category. Cars with a shipping weight/horsepower ratio of 7.50-7.99 pounds will fall into AA/S. W/S is for four cylinder cars only, with a weight to horsepower ratio of 24 or more. NHRA publishes their Classification Guide on their website; you can look up your car to see what class it can fit. Cars not listed in this Guide are not eligible for Stock Eliminator.
Just a 100K and you can run stock class too!

It’s a notch below super stock. Pro stock isn’t even stock anymore. Pro stock uses purpose build everything. They are designed for racing. These cars were designed for the road and modified to race.

They run either a,GForce or a Jerico. Not a Muncie. A Muncie would explode.

@@richardkochan460 g force makes a super t-10 that's legal in stock eliminator...a Borg Warner t-10 was in several gm muscle cars

@@oldgriz816 Nice try nerd. The A990 cars don't play down in A/Stock. They're too fast for such a slow class. A990 cars are in SS/BA running solid 8s.

There isn't a Muncie 4 speed within 10 miles of this race. LOL!! G Force maybe, not Muncies. Steve Ficacci has run 9.70's with this car. WOW!!
they announced Muncie 4 spds for the Camaro side by side run...I bet they were and I bet they all are checked.
Yea, I heard that ! I know in SS you can run after market manual trans but are Libertys etc. allowed in stock ?
200 miles,G-Force and Jericho slush, yrs ago borgwarner t10 and muncie with liberty gears
@Peak Torque I'm not up on today's rules and don't know what's in these cars, but Auto Gear has made some upgrades to the Muncie with a much stronger case. Perhaps that's what some of these cars are running.
