Brother Ben, great insights with this scripture block (Alma 5-7). In the past and most recently, I gave my students the following challenge from Alma 5:14. Are you UP for a little "Countenance Engraving" ? The Saviors countenance starts from the Light in our eyes then our faces and ultimately our hearts. Upon which, we begin to look like HIM and our life becomes a reflection of HIM. He NEVER forgets us because WE are ENGRAVED upon the Palms of his hands !! Even as adults, we need from time to time a little "COUNTENANCE ENGRAVING" !!
I like that thought. Great cross reference. It's from the Isaiah chapters if I remember right.

This was wonderful class. I took this midterm and realized that I still need some time and lots of preparation. Fortunately, I can still doing and get ready for the final exam.

Where is the teaching on the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost? That is how we are born again (2 Nephi 31:17). We cannot do this ourselves. We get a mighty change and are born again when the Son/Father bestows the gift of the Holy Ghost upon us, and in no other way. No matter what we do ourselves, we are still going to be unprofitable servants (Mosiah 2:20,21). All we can do is prepare for and seek for this mighty change through the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. I think that is what Alma is teaching these people in Alma 5 (Mosiah 27:24-27).
