I am from Yorkshire, England and was baptized in 1982 at 28 years old. My parents and 9 brothers and sisters want nothing to do with me or the Church and my relationship with them dwindled and ended after my 3 children were born.
My dad’s response to my conversion was that he said the Church wanted me only for my money and my mother called me a “whited sepulcher.” Later, after the birth of my children, he accused me of brainwashing them. The last time I saw my mother in the flesh she told me nobody would ever love me.
I now know through personal revelation that I was put in my family to do the genealogy work for them and that has erased my grief and sorrow at being hated, rejected and ignored. I have done the temple work for my parents and have done all the sealing work I can do to date.
Two of my children have been endowed in the temple. One son has served a mission, married in the temple and my second granddaughter born to him and his wife is due in days.
Though I am without family support, live hundreds of miles away from my children, and now live in a neighborhood with no church members, I am more excited about the gospel than ever. Thank goodness for the view of life, knowledge and wisdom God has given me, especially at such a time as this when the world is literally in commotion.
I’m so grateful for family history and in the past 10 days I’ve added 75 people to my family tree.
I never knew any of my extended family growing up, but I now have deep spiritual roots in gospel soil.
Thank you for your excellent lessons.

Your story is very inspirational, thank you for sharing it with us. I'm always happy to hear of such stories because they make me want to carry on walking on the righteous path no matter what life may be throwing at me. I'm also the only member at home and my family wants nothing to do with the church, that breaks my heart and sometimes the journey feels so lonely without any of my family members, especially now during lockdown. Most of the time I'm at the chapel just to escape all the negativity at home but Ive been at home with everyone and as much as I enjoy reading my scriptures by myself, its nice sometimes to have family joining in. Sharing your story pushes me to hang in there and endure to the very end.

Nkuli Shezi God bless you and give you courage. Elder Holland visited my son’s mission and at a member missionary fireside stated:”When you join this church you get way more than you bargained for.” This was the very feeling that came to me while my son was on his mission. That was nine years ago and the blessings of Church membership increase. Stay faithful and see the arm of the Lord revealed. The future is bright and Christ will come and wipe away all tears.

Thank you for helping me see how we all can become effective missionaries and how we can be missionary in a way that is not so scary. Thanks for helping me learn this process in chapter 17 to prepare myself and be willing to serve as a true friend and see others as a brothers and sisters and then when the time is right according to God's time he will guide us by the spirit to be courageous and bold in sharing his good news. Loved your comments about the importance of being an example as part of missionary work but not to stop at this step. I believe a lot us do this to make us feel better about being missionaries. Thanks for your insights and encouragement to be courageous and likening the scriptures to us to follow Ammon's approach in sharing the gospel.

I love your lesson. I think this is very important to point out as well. Alma 19:6 Now, this was what Ammon desired, for he knew that king Lamoni was under the power of God; he knew that the dark veil of unbelief was being cast away from his mind, and the light which did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness-yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and that the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul, yea, he knew that this had overcome his natural frame, and he was carried away in God.
The transformation that takes place because of the marvelous light infused so much joy into his soul. I just love this verse. It’s how I feel about our Lord and Savior.
    Thank you!!!!
