You’re an absolute British sporting legend and was the very best for many years. Now you’re the best pundit / commentator in the game. You still have plenty to offer the sport. I also think you’d make a damn fine coach. You’re a credit to the game Stephen. I’ve had to edit this because there seems to be loads of Ronnie fangirls in here arguing about who the goat is. My comment wasn’t intended to incite war. I simply said that Hendry is a snooker legend and still has loads to offer snooker. I love Ronnie and without question he’s the greatest ever and his records will never be bettered. He’s my favorite player and watching him play the game is like witnessing an artist paint a masterpiece. Even Stephen acknowledges that Ronnie is the goat. But I was commenting on Stephen’s video so I spoke about him and him only. Hendry is still a sporting legend whether you agree or not.

You were absolutely incredible at times, and those times were many. Unbelievable talent and character. Sheer class! Great channel. All the best.
Absolutely love your videos. I’ve always watched snooker since the early 90s. I watched them with my great Nan all those years ago and we loved watching yourself and Jimmy White.
Stephen Hendry is definitely a sporting hero of mine. I would love to see cue tips inspire one last herculean effort to succeed for WT number 8, but if not, I'm just glad I witnessed the run in the 90's, epic.
Everyone in Scotland loved it when Stephen was winning everything. Before Hendry, Scotland had been absolutely shit at snooker so to then utterly dominate the sport was amazing. The fact that his constant winning meant some folks (especially outside Scotland) didn't like him made the winning all the sweeter. Absolute legend.
That was awesome Stephen. I could have listened to that for hours! I'm a very late snooker adopter (only started a few years ago, and I'm the same age as Ronnie), but your content is the best there is and you'll always be the GOAT for me 👍
Awesome. Thanks fella. I really love to hear people talk about what made them. I am quite happy to listen to Hendry on Hendry on a regular basis. Just Hendry and the Table smacking balls in tellin us stories. There is something really satisfying about watching those balls go in one after another, the sounds, the feeling. The awe of the skill maybe. That can't get a win on the tour apparently but. I'd still love to see him get back out there competing seriously. Hendry is also that interesting story of the fine line that it is at the top. People talk about Tyson still being terrfying etc but remember when he lost his edge he was getting floored by absolute nobodies. He was still an animal but all of those guys are. It's more a testament to how great you have to be to dominate like that. People treat the also rans like jokes but they are streets ahead of the average person. Even to get a sniff of professional play you have to be a bit special. It isn't all good necessarily and the closer to the top the better/worse it gets. In the words of the Red Mamba, consider a universal jokes by casual idiots on their couch, 'I'm closer to Lebron than you are to me'. Anyway. I'm fascinated by the whole story. What makes peolpe great, why peole fail, why great people fail etc. To be able to listen to someone like Hendry like this talk, unhindered by some idiot Corporate Media agena is great (obviously there's a bit of production going on here at like our mate Joe Rogan he has had a lot time in the regular media before doing this). Like you are in the room with him as he practices just talking about his life. Then you get Ronnie, Robertson or some other sports legend who just loves snooker in there having a game a chat and a game and you get to sit in like one of their mates while it happens. Love it. Give me more... Harder, faster. No. I think we're at a stage where we can be a little more intimate.. romantic. Just keep it up. I'm open to Hendry on the Golf Course with Golf Pros also... could be a thing. It's still a cue tip all these things crossover and into life too which is perhaps the most important
Could have watched this for another few hours, very chilled ambience to it and feels like you're down the club having a chat a knock and a chat with him. Great stories and insight into the mind of a competitive, winning machine. Nice one, Stephen!
Stephen and I are almost exactly the same age. I was a huge fan of the man the world knew as The Nugget, and remember my teenage depression following his defeats to Taylor and Johnson. Then three years of joy, then along came this young whipersnapper called Hendry who started winning everything. I couldn't dislike him because you'd have to be a fool not to recognise his enormous talent, but Davis was my hero and I didn't like seeing him getting beat. In the coming years I warmed to Hendry and regarded him as the best player ever to hold a cue. And it is fantastic to see what an engaging chap he is now that he can relax more and just enjoy being a legend of the game.
I'm another that certainly wasn't your biggest fan as a player but wow-how that as changed now. Your punditry, co-commentary and personality....Absolutely brilliant 👍👍
I'm the same. He was like a "so good he's the bad guy" character, to me when I was a kid (born in 1990). He's obviously a great lad as well as having been on of snooker's best talents.
you are the reason I watched snooker, and started playing. I was very poor at it, but always kept interest in the sport. Since you there have been many great players, and as a belgian I obviously have to support Luca, who can play brilliant snooker from time to time. For me you will always be the greatest ! Keep making your video's please, really enjoy watching them
Remember watching you on Scotsport one Sunday afternoon. Prob about 16 you were. Followed you ever since. You owned the Crucible in the 90's. Amazing to watch your career!
This was so good. Heard much of the detail in the past. More of this with little unknown anecdotes and good detail please. Just watching the practice like this and the monologue is terrific.
It feels like a farewell, and it feels as if you feel the time is right for that. I know a lot of people have been waiting for it and said you shouldn't have returned at all, but it's been a pleasure to see you in action again over the last three years. If we do see you again, whichever tournament it might be will be richer for having your name on the drawsheet. If not, thank you for all you've given to this sport as a player.
I recently spoke with a 85 yr old retired Major League Baseball Pitcher (I live in USA) and he said the key to becoming the best at anything comes down to one word...Obsession. From your story, it sounds like it was the same for you. Once the obsession faded, so did your game. Your career is something to be very proud of and thanks so much for sharing the sport on this channel!
Stephen i couldnt agree with u more, my mother was barmaid in local snooker club when i was age 6-16 ish , it became my home and i loved growing up there, once i got fairly good and in my teens and playing snooker and pool all the time, just having the local members watching me play while they were on the fruit machine like i did them as a kid, made me focus and practise on my own so much more seriously, a table at home wouldnt have been the same club atmosphere or effort/concentration from myself
The day you stopped dominating the circuit your true personality emerged. It’s horrible to say but the yipps gave the snooker loving public a legend of the sport with an honest and straightforward opinion plus the true Stephen’s like ability came to the fore. I’m an avid watcher of your Cue Tips channel but you must, must have a golfing channel. Keep being the new you mate.
Yeah, my childhood memories of May Bank Holiday weekend are my parents putting together something from IKEA while I watched Hendry vs White on the TV :D
Loved watching that. very interesting. 26:15 you mention making a 147 despite not being at your best. That just underlines how good you were and I think you should've won Sports Personality of the year at least once. I think Ronnie should have too. The last snooker player to win Sports Personality of the Year was Steve Davis in 1988.
This was just great, thanks! Totally different than what you'd usually expect from the channel, and so engaging and honest. Right up there with your absolute best videos (a lot to choose from but hard to beat the Steve Davis interview)

Stephen, the brown ball with a position on a blue at 9:29 was an absolute miracle! I’ve had to watch it several times. Could you please teach us this shot on your next cue tips?
I watched some raw footage of 9/11 before I watched this video, and had been saying to my friends how I couldn't get over the impact 9/11 had. I didn't expect Stephen to mention how it directly affected his success with what happened his cue. Great video, so down to earth
Absolutely brilliant video , Stephen , you have accomplished things in your career that other professional players would dream of , well done for that , and now you have a brilliant platform here for people like me who followed you to see the man behind the snooker mask and enjoy (nearly) as much as watching you win !!!
All that really matters Stephen is that you had a wonderful life. And still do. Still do the things you love around the sport you love. Have zero regrets. I love how casually Stephen gets into the "zone". he's potting balls like no problem while reminiscing about his journey. He's running the table so easily.
I absolutely love your attitude to your sport, which I think should apply in any serious sport. The enjoyment is in the winning. I played in a successful volleyball team in the 1970's and 80's and we had exactly that approach, When you have your opponents on the back foot it's time to press home your advantage and win. When I got to the age where I could not play at my best I left the sport as a player contented that I had done the best I could with a lot of trophies to go with it. Well done to you on your great career ! You are an inspiration. P.S. I once stood next to you in the Starbucks queue near the Crucible but was too nervous to speak lol. 🙂
Ruthless at his best. Took break-building to the next level. The most dominant player there has ever been. Unfortunately his attacking play when combined with a slight loss in consistency that comes with ageing, his disregard for safety, the general standard improving and the dreaded “yips” meant he didn’t have the longevity of others. But at his best, what a player!
I remember getting up early in the morning to watch "the king" play that my grandmother had recorded, before going work on my YTS course i was on as a trainee bricklayer. Inspired me to practice at Willie thornes in Leicester and just thinking about it now, i can still smell the steaks cooking and the hops from the beer they served there. Only seems like yesterday. Good times.
Was fortunate to meet Steven at the first Australian Goldfields a decade or so back. Matthew Selt was a little too good that day but Steven was happy to have a little chat afterwards. I wisely chose to talk about golf and he warmed to that! By the looks of what we saw just now, he would still flog all but the best players :)
Love your channel Stephen! The period of dominance you had over Snooker will never be matched during your prime. Weirdly I was one of the people hoping Ebdon beat you in 2002 cause I was always bought up to root for the underdog... Still feel if you didn't lose your original cue on that flight we might be looking at 10+ worlds. One of, if not the best to ever do it. Keep the amazing content coming!

Absolutely love your videos. I’ve always watched snooker since the early 90s. I watched them with my great Nan all those years ago and we loved watching yourself and Jimmy White.
Loved this, absolutely fascinating!
Love the videos at the moment, watching religiously🫡❤️
Awesome, Stephen.. really enjoyed that. Great channel too, love the all the videos. keep em coming!

*one of
you are the reason I watched snooker, and started playing. I was very poor at it, but always kept interest in the sport. Since you there have been many great players, and as a belgian I obviously have to support Luca, who can play brilliant snooker from time to time. For me you will always be the greatest ! Keep making your video's please, really enjoy watching them
Good to see other Belgians out there
Great video Stephen; honest & straight from the hip commentary….like some of your shots tonight! Great channel.
Great stuff, refreshingly open. Such a legend!
Never got to watch you play, so hearing you walk through your career made for a great listen.
That was a magnificent episode
That was fascinating, thanks for sharing with us 🙂
May Day holiday in the 90s was always the same. "Hendry wins again"... Loved it.
Yeah, my childhood memories of May Bank Holiday weekend are my parents putting together something from IKEA while I watched Hendry vs White on the TV :D
What a great champion you are we have grown up watching your posters in and outside every snooker club in Pakistan in the 90s
Absolutely fantastic. Best so far by far
You was the one I was rooting for I followed you right from the start, you have been one of the greatest players in the world. Love to see you back at the top but you have nothing to prove you did it all
Brilliant Stephen, Your Always be one of the all Time Greats
I see you in Folkestone the other week
Thanks for signing my cue tips top
It's in a frame
I have always loved Stephen Hendry. Absolute legend
Met Stephen Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor at skeggy week couple weeks ago had great nite Stephen still a brilliant player thanks for coming to are area fellas
Love the channel and great video. You were always my snooker hero growing up and the classics against Jimmy I an still remember.
You are still the very best snooker player I have ever seen
Stephen, the brown ball with a position on a blue at 9:29 was an absolute miracle! I’ve had to watch it several times. Could you please teach us this shot on your next cue tips?
Good job, Cameraman!
Great insights. Talent and hard work, there is no substitute for it in whatever line of work you are in. Thank you for sharing.
Loved this one! Could listen to Steven talk about his career for a lot longer than this!
Great video again, Stephen. Always admired your winning mentality. Really enjoyed seeing you in Goffs, Ireland recently
Wow, that 27 minutes went fast. Love this channel. From Tasmania.
The 27mins just flew by. Really enjoyed that, thank you!
All that really matters Stephen is that you had a wonderful life. And still do. Still do the things you love around the sport you love. Have zero regrets. You had the best career one can have in snooker and with that came a beautiful life. We love watching you all the times and we appreciate you still do things for snooker outside competition play.
marry him
@@elmondo-pj6kkYou should Irish when you're obsessed with Stephen Hendry. Not even a fan of Stephen but you're here all the time on fake profiles posting about him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🏳️🌈
@@elmondo-pj6kkIRISH repeating himself all day on UA-cam.
@@Wah-f8c Judd Trump has become slow. Stale. Uninteresting & boring. Most of the audience are asleep And Judd cant win a 2nd World or 2nd UK title to save his life! That's a fact!
Ronnie it the GOAT. Another fact!
I was mesmerised - thanks for that - brilliant!!!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and retrospective on one of the greatest sporting careers ever. Thanks.
Another great video by SH. Enjoyable account of his journey
Could listen/watch videos like this for hours and not get bored. To get this kind of content for free also without paying for any sort of subscription is an absolute treat
I love how casually Stephen gets into the "zone". he's potting balls like no problem while reminiscing about his journey. He's running the table so easily.
Been enjoying your videos. Great channel. You’re still killing it and winning, just in a different format.
Love your channel, hated you beating Steve !!! You should do a vid at the classic snooker centre, a trip down memory lane
The Classic Club in Dunfermline, loved it there. Great channel, really enjoyed your video today, keep them coming!
Another great video. Watching you there you wouldn't know you still have the 'yips', was smooth AF 😊
such a personable guy and a credit to the legacy of snooker
This was absolutely brilliant! Great episode Stephen
Good times.
Thanks for telling the amazing story...it's very inspiring and lots lessons to be learned from it for snooker and off snooker table ❤❤
Really enjoyed this Stephen. Thanks for your insight.
Keep the amazing content coming!
one of my favorite videos and i ve seen them all
One of my heroes. Love the guy ❤
Amazing Steven. I loved your game as you say it was open the one against Peter Ebdon no wonder that hurts. Loving your channel too.
I remember years ago, delivering a fresh set of chairs to the club where you practised in Scotland. And it just so happened you were practising at the time. Very cool to see you In person And play live.
Excellent video….and very informative….. what a career Stephen had…..exceptional…👍🏴
