Hi, thanks for help. This might be a silly question but where is the OS installed in the end? If I have on M2 SSD 256GB and 2 2TB SSD disks - installing from USB stick - where is that OS installed in the end? Is there a way to burn the image directly to M.2 SSD and boot from it?
Hi, YES you need to use an SSD/M2 as a flash drive instead of a USB stick to create the bootable disk with BalenaEtcher. Other hard drives on your computer will be recognized automatically and you can then configure them in DSM as you wish. Otherwise the DSM OS will remain and run from your SSD.
Thanks for showing us this. Please, keep making videos on this topic. Becuase I would like to learn how to use Synology on a cheaper PC, because I am student and can't afford it. Then, I'd like to put it on my resume, because my job at work has Synology systems. And, I would like to move into another career field.
hi thanks for the vid , i set it up last week and works great :) how ever i see there is an update for the OS , any chance you could show in one of your videos " how to" update to the latest version please
did everything. waited about 30mins after booting, i cant access the IP from my other computer. tried restarting the PC. i no longer get the IP. i get error. i cant find the PC on my router connected devices. it connects and disconnects. not sure if my PC doesnt support this or am just unlucky.

Hello! The installation of synology dsm was successful, but after a few hours of operation, the state of the volume was destroyed or the partition table was damaged! I don't understand why, a lot of my data went in the trash! Always format the HDD when mounting the disk. Do you know any solution to this problem? HDD: 2TB seagate barracuda 2.5"
I have now had 2 Synology NAS's fail. My latest 920+ has a memory module failure--and the memory is soldered to the motherboard. Is it possible to install Synology DSM 7.X using this method and then install the 4 hard drives that already contain all my data, but are formatted in the Synology raid format? Or, will I have to format new discs and copy all the info from the backup? If I can't use my current NAS data then this method (or other similar ones) is not worthwhile.
Please tell me the best motherboard for the Synology system for installation. And support processor. I am waiting for your response. Today i tried to install the Synology system but failed. I tried to installing zebronics motherboard and i5 2nd generation processor with 8 gb DDR3 ram.

@@sykotikangell Thanks, but when try to flash the os to ssd, without flash drive the rufus or others os installer not found the ssd while attached ssd also created volume or else. Only found the flash drive.
Thank you for this video. I'm trying to set up but after building the loader and accessing with :5000 the Synology Web Assistant screen appears with the error "No drives detected in DS3615xs". There is an old Western Digital 2.5-inch SATA HHD in the laptop and the usb stick with the install files. What am I missing? Will this not work with an old laptop HHD?
Ha! I solved my issue. I went into the BIOS of the laptop I was trying to use as a NAS, then I enabled AHCI Mode for SATA in BIOS. I'm able to access the disk and installing the Synology build on it now!

You speak very good English, I must say. Thanks for this! Any idea if they ditched this in 7.1.2?

I stuck on "Waiting IP..." which results in Error. Should I type IP here or it should automatically get it from the router?

Impossible to follow you. So you make a usb stick bootable, boot on other device, computer, whatever, install and that's all?
16 minutes?
Right on! I appreciate the tutorial but, for a beginner, this is an uphill task.

Yes , I use a ssd for the os then two drives for storage.

ERROR FORMATTING DRIVE
Hi Alan, do you have a discord? or way that I can ask you a specific configuration question?
I suggest at 12.50 do not install the DSM updates since it may break the system
Thank you for this
