    Hi Phoenix, thank you for being an inspiration and taking the time to put this vid together. I am teaching myself latin because I want to master my spanish, advance my french and begin portuguese. I can't believe how much fun it's been almost re-taking my HS and College Spanish and College French with the grammars being the same while more detail.

    Hey dude, big fan from Florida! I’ve been watching you for some odd years because I really like your vibe and I too am addicted to languages. I have 3 I speak relatively fluently, and about 5 more that I can speak at a beginner level. (And many more bits and pieces) I agree with a lot of what you preach and I especially loved that last statement you closed on. I find it hard to explain a drive for learning foreign languages to my mostly monolingual American cohorts. But it’s the direct connection to a whole nother society, and perspective on the world and life,that is such a draw for me. I may not be Pitbull, but language learning truly makes me feel like Mr. Worldwide.
    PS please read that last joke in that middle aged lady’s voice from that TikTok.
    PPS currently learning te reo Māori, and man is a Polynesian language fun. Its particle based grammar is complex yet easy to pick up. Its word structure is logical and fun. Its phenology is simple and sounds so distinctive; I love it. And there are a ton of interesting grammatical quirks that provide a very unique Māori perceptive of life. Definitely put it on your list.

      Hello there! Thanks a lot for your support! Māori sounds like an interesting languages and quite a challenge, I wonder if there’s a lot of materials on the internet. I’ve been studying Uyghur and one of the biggest challenges is the lack of available materials. Is Māori a language of the Austronesian family BTW

      @@phoenixhou4486 yeah material is hard to come by, I ordered a set of textbooks from New Zealand which I use for creating my Anki deck, and it does a pretty good job of explaining the grammar. It’s called Te Kākano

    最近在学习荷兰语, but mostly just watching dutch videos on youtube and learning the script. It works pretty well for me. By this way i've learned new words that i can actually remember and i ask chatgpt to explain the grammar to me if i couldn't understand the sentence structrue. Next step i guess is to find a textbook to study systematically cuz i've already developed interests and can understand basic dialogue and capture some phrases (proud face haha). Hope i can start easy conversations in september when i arrive in belgium:) Thanks for the tips!

    But how can you know if a certain textbook is good or bad, or if it fits you, before reading a few chapters? I think it's inevitable to jump back and forth between different books.

    • @phoenixhou4486
      @phoenixhou4486  7 місяців тому +1

      From my experience, several pages should provide a decent picture of whether the book explains things clearly enough, or in a style of my preference.

    This is great advice but not applicable to many languages with very little resources like trying to learn a rare Chinese dialect
    It isn’t possible, but I only see anyone doing this if they learned the IPA system and then hired an online tutor which can be very expensive
    I’m currently trying to learn Hakka from Heyuan but it is very hard to write down using romanization because it isn’t as effective as IPA which represents all possible sounds known to man. Most languages don’t have a written system in place so you are left with creating your own study material ….and BOY! Does this take a very long time if you don’t live in the target language’s city to use it
    Not to mention, also, most native speakers themselves don’t know how to explain the grammar, so it is very hard to understand how something is structured without very long hours of deciphering.
    Being typical by learning French, Spanish, etc. doesn’t say much….but being unique does

      戶籍在大城市是購房和福利的標準(後者也不一定哈哈),按照個省市的財政狀況所有d城市都有自己對外地戶籍人口的政策,但是相對人口流動是比較自由的。
